I am not familiar with your favorite characters because I am much, much older than you. I too was confused about romance when I was 15. You are very young and have a lot of time to figure out what you want in a mate. You have the opportunity to meet a wide variety of men and make good decisions to find a man you will be happy with for life. Don't rush growing up. Use your youth to learn so you make the right choices in life. Wishing you a lifetime of happiness.

Okay I will check for Kristen Ashley. Thanks for the tip. It is great to hear from a librarian. I have a good friend who is a retired librarian and I just love to hear hear her brag about her archives. It is fun to hear from so many women who read. Romance novels are one genre of literature ( and there my be some who do not classify them as literature) which does seem to reach across a broad spectrum of readers.

I agree. And I think they are also harmless to most women. I think they could fall into a self-care category because they bring a little bit of fun, adventure and excitement into a woman's quite ordinary day. I suppose it is a matter of living vicariously through someone else for just a little while. It is fun to be there as a reader, but it would not be fun to be there in real life. I recognize that I am warm and secure and comfortable while I am reading about the heroine who is usually freezin…

Not all romance novels are erotic. Some are quite tame. I like a novel that taps into the emotional aspect of sex more than one that describes the physical act. I think it is the sexual tension in these stories that appeals to women, especially if you have been with one man for a very long time.

I think most women realize these stories are fantasy. I suppose it could be harmful to a relationship if a woman compares her mate to the hero and finds him lacking.

I am not surprised that I am being turned into a meddlesome woman by the comments. I just expected better from this sub. My husband and I are not involved in my son and his wife lives. They live far away from us. I thought I had some good advice to pass on to the young women of this sub. We as parents keep our mouths shut when it comes to our children's relationships. However when you notice that your child is stressed, losing weight and not himself you speak up. You say we support you. If you a…

Yes it most certainly did. I had many sleepless nights and my husband did also. It gave us a new perspective about our future daughter-in-law. But it was a change in her usual self due to her belief that she had to have the perfect wedding. She has always been type A, but has been very grounded. I think this wedding tapped into alot of family issues that we have only just begun to understand that made her fly off the rails. That and the fact that she was concerned with her professional peers att…

I too am not seeing the connection between his ideas and the RP, but I have only listened to one of his lectures so I can't make a judgement. I do intend to listen to more of his lectures. He has also expressed that monogamy has been shown to be an important part of our society, especially for child rearing. I am in full agreement with this. Working to keep a happy marriage is the greatest advantage that parents can give their children.

Men will tend to win out in careers for many merit-based or genetic reasons. This means in order for feminists to win their cause, they have to be in a situation which gives them the advantage. I was an art student in the late seventies. At that time women were having a very difficult time breaking into the art world. To protest they started the "Guerrilla Girls". Things have changed dramatically. Now women have tremendous opportunity to succeed as an artist.
/r/RedPillWomen06/06/18 02:33 PM
2

The problem is that feminism is treating every interaction with men as bad. There is even a new term: micro-aggressions. This is basically small insults or dismissiveness. My God! No wonder men are resentful.
/r/RedPillWomen06/06/18 02:08 PM
3

That is so disheartening. I did not realize the pendulum had swung so far out of wack. I hope it doesn't swing just as far in the other direction and wipe out the advances that women made in last century.
/r/RedPillWomen06/06/18 02:00 PM
2

I bring this up primarily because no matter what men do, no matter how much they try to understand women, feminists will never accept that men can understand their cause. Perhaps modern feminists feel this way. I don't feel all women feel this way.

reading an LA Times article about him is not going to give you an accurate reflection of his views. What would be an objective source to read? I don't want to buy his book. Please don't direct me to a biased right wing publication. They are just as bad as the biased liberal ones.
/r/RedPillWomen06/06/18 01:47 PM
2

Thank you for your comment. Everything I have read about him has been really negative. I recognize it can't be an accurate assessment. Does he really believe in the idea of enforced monogamy and redistribution of sex as a commodity? Wouldn't that be in opposition to his support of individual responsibility and accomplishment based on hard work?

One more problem Dr. Peterson has identified for his audience is that the left really tends to favor pseudoscience theory.know I am not familiar with pseudoscience. I am just so lost as to how feminism evolved into this mindset. I was too busy raising kids and being a wife and working full time as a teacher to recognize when the basic ideas of equal recognition for equal work went off the rails. How did it turn into this idea of toxic masculinity?

The best way to get a woman to understand how little most men trust most women is to find women who are mothers of sons who are approaching marriage type age. I don't have to find one. I am one. My son is getting married in the next six months and I have my doubts about his future wife.

A lot of women have faced sexual harassment that has gone unchecked, but now in order to be a true feminist, you must be a victim yourself. I will say I agree with this. I faced sexual harassment and discrimination as a young woman, but I just shook it off as fact of life. I managed to make my way because most men were decent human beings. I did not perceive the whole male species to be bad, just because of a few assholes.

I agree with your idea of equality of opportunity not equality of outcome to a point. Yes there should be equal opportunity for all children. However, there will be children who thrive with that opportunity and children who will fail. As a teacher it didn't take me long to recognize that "No child left behind" amounted to"No child gets ahead."

I have to admit that I had never heard of first wave, second wave and third wave feminism until I started lurking here. I hate to say that I am on the cusp between first and second wave feminism because readers will dismiss my opinions as that of an old woman. I will say I am rather horrified by some of the behavior and attitudes I see today of women who identify as feminist. It is interesting that you point out the number of female spaces only now, when women fought so hard to break into the men only spaces. I was really unhappy when I heard that the boy scouts took on girls. The girls had the option of girl scouts. On the other hand, I totally support allowing young girls and boys to play on the same athletic team, until they are given the opportunity to play for a team of their own sex.

I find this very interesting. My perspective as a teacher in the U.S. is that most teachers work very hard for very little pay and respect. There is no one in line to fill in when they need a replacement unless it is a wealthy school district. When you say that the curriculum is decent, what are the standards that assess it?

Most women go to work but do not work necessarily haha. almost all work as teachers. 60% go there and chit chat until they feel like leaving. some would go just to sign for attendance then go back home.< Is education so bad then for children? Do most mothers home school?

So what do men and women need from each other outside of sex, which is the exclamation point of managing to find a place to come together as a couple? There has to be another underlying need that impels a man and a woman, both in their sixties to marry. There is another reason to explain why a man would marry a woman who is ten years older than he is. I have seen both scenarios in my family. I personally believe in the concept of love which cannot be measured or explained
/r/RedPillWomen25/04/18 11:41 PM
1

I need a little time to put this in the right words. I will respond when I figure it out. What I will say in the mean time is that there are more scenarios for happiness between men and women than this sub will acknowledge. I have seen it first hand.
/r/RedPillWomen25/04/18 10:17 PM

Therefore, it is possible for men and women to fulfill each other's needs. It just isn't that common today. And whats more is that there is common ground if both men and women are willing to take a step forward in spite of their fears. His :a lack of respect. Hers: a lack of affection.

As a woman I experience a lot of guilt because it is my nature to be compassionate and a peace maker. Sometimes things are completely out of my control and I recognize that, but I still feel bad that I can't make a difference. In no way do I feel guilty about being a woman. I am comfortable in my gender, as well as my race, and my social class. I do not feel guilt about how other women act because it is out of my control. However, I do feel bad when I see other women make bad choices.

What ever words convey the idea best. I am sure they would be different for every woman. The other question is when is the right time to say them? Is it after a long slow kiss, or during a tentative make out session. How do you keep the sexual attraction with out letting things go too far and not quash the a man's interest?
/r/RedPillWomen23/04/18 07:50 PM

I know there is this big deal about talking commitment too soon, but I can’t see the harm in saying: “ I really like you, I find you very attractive and I want to sleep with you when you are ready to be exclusive with me. Until then sex is off the table between us because I could never be comfortable having sex with a man who is fucking other women. In the mean time I will not take other men into my bed because I wish to be exclusive with you.”
/r/RedPillWomen23/04/18 07:15 PM
1

No worries. I agree with you on your assessment. As a woman, I place my sense of self-worth on how I think others perceive me. Guilt is a big part of my life because it is a intrinsic reaction to those situations where I feel like I have either not tried or I let some one down, even though many times I really had no control over the situation. I think it is a compassion thing.

(And as I type that, part of my brain is saying "there goes another example of the male downplaying of masculine vulnerability.") Why? Because you are not expounding on it here? Most of the women who read here get it. We do sympathize with men who lose everything. Please don't lay the guilt on us when you admit women place a great deal of their self-worth on how they are viewed by others.

What is a woman at her core? How does she view herself and how do men view her? And I specified that a man gains value (i.e. stops being nothing) by accomplishment/merit/achievement, in other words when he starts to value himself, a woman gains value (stops being nothing) when she is valued by others. That makes sense to me.

I am not trying make more of this than it is. I am only pointing out that (nurturing, loving, understanding, compassionate, and other feminine traits normally associated with women) can bring joy to men just as their masculine traits can bring joy to women, even in circumstances outside of marriage. I understand that the basis of this sub is sexual strategy and I do appreciate the many valid points presented here. However, this MGTOW mentality seems counterproductive here on a woman's sub.
/r/RedPillWomen19/04/18 10:46 PM
3

However, a woman's TRUE value comes from being so much more than a warm body - the inverse of the masculine in the feminine form that provides all the other virtues, characteristics, and qualities for which men are not normally associated - nurturing, loving, understanding, compassionate, and other feminine traits normally associated with women. This! Thank you for clearing that up.

I am not talking about a woman's value in terms of marriage. I am talking about a woman's value in the world of men. I believe you are saying she has no value to any man who cannot have her sexually. Is this correct? I have made a few visits to the classrooms of male teachers I have worked with who have little contact with women in their daily routine. They are in a mostly male environment and they genuinely seem to enjoy having a woman around even though I am there on business and they have no …

So in essence a woman who will not meet a man's sexual needs and reap the outcomes (intimacy, bonding, family, children, legacy etc) brings no value or pleasure into his world? Is this what you are saying?

At his core, every man is a worthless nothing, an undeserving nobody, a fraud and impostor.< What is a woman at her core? How does she view herself and how do men view her? I am trying to understand the concept you are presenting, but I have to understand the feminine point of view for it to make sense. Yes confidence is attractive. And I now understand the difference between considering oneself lucky and fortunate. I am fortunate to have met my husband at the right time, have a 4 year relationship which gave both of us time to grow up, and then marry him and start a life together. Thank for your many comments. I get it now. I would also like to add that not all wives take their husbands for granted. I do not assume men and women are the same. I am just assuming that there are positive binding things in a marriage that are good for both sexes. Is a man's happiness any less than a woman's happiness or vice versa, just because each finds happiness in different aspects of the marriage.
/r/RedPillWomen16/03/18 12:19 AM

All I am trying to say is that a woman who knows her value in a marriage is not a bad thing. It does not have to be based on a feeling of superiority. It can be based on the fact that she loves her husband and knows she is giving him a good life through her own talents, her efforts to continually make things better and her joy in those efforts. Why is a woman's sense of self worth a thing to be reviled. I am not asking to be put on a pedestal. I am just asking for the same amount of respect that…

I did not mean to suggest that this was about me personally as a lady. However it is supposed to be about us as a collective group of ladies. It is a woman's sub and I for one hate hate hate the raw points of view that does not take into account our feminine sensibilities that every one seems to value so highly and instead presents a crude immature male point of view that does most men an injustice.

So are you saying he is smarter than you? That was never an question. It should not make you feel bad in anyway. The point I am trying to make is about the RP concept of dread. If a woman feels herself inferior and at constant risk of losing her man isn't that what dread is all about? How convenient for a man if a woman dreads herself? He doesn't have to make any self improvements to bring it about. Why would any woman do that to herself? It would be a miserable way to spend a marriage.

The concept of rimming has never enter either of our minds. I do not believe that most men require rimming and anal to meet their sexual needs. I believe it is a few men who need to push the envelope in their relationship who make it such a priority.

I am sorry that my last question was snarky. I just find it interesting that women are using dread against themselves, like it is a way to stave off actual dread from their men.

Why does every thing boil down to kinky sex here so often? It is so ridiculously tedious.

I agree it is sad if you don't think "I'm lucky to have him." Does that mean you don't deserve him? So your husband is smarter than you. Does that make him better than you?

This. This may be his way of tapping into your emotional response as a mother, as some men do when calling their wives mama or mother as in: 'Ok mama, have you got what you need because it's time to head out?" He may think it is endearing where as you find it repulsive. I would not hesitate to give him the full cringe. No words are necessary.

Those IKEA bookcases will mean more than any high end piece of furniture you may purchase in the future. My husband and I built a bookshelf together for his apartment before we married. We only had pieces of lumber, a hand saw, and a hammer. It has been been relocated to the basement for many years, but it is still holding books and sturdy as hell, just as out marriage is.

If you create a world with your man it will be hard to replace it - build a world that’s special. radical-trad said it best.

You don't realize until you have been married for a long time how much those share projects mean in terms of a marriage. It comes down to building a future together as a team, and some times that can mean a Saturday working together to fix the washing machine.

But what good is motivation without confidence? If you start to see yourself as less than him, he will see you that way too.

I think that along with your efforts at self improvement, you also cultivate the mindset that he is lucky to have you, and forget about the other women standing in line. If you are committed to a forever marriage and make the effort to be the best wife you can be, it is unlikely he will find you less valuable in the future. Concentrate on building a good life together and raising your child together and most important keep your own interests so you are interesting to be around.

I am pretty good at saying thank you and praising him for things he does. I need to work more on praising him for who he is: a great provider, a wonderful dad, and so forth. Where I struggle is praising him in the bedroom. I have never been one to talk dirty. I have never sent a sexy text until a couple of days ago. I decided to try it after I splurged and bought a sexy bra and panties and sent him a picture of them with the suggestion that "we try them out that night". It was a good night. I am…

One thing I have found that has helped me, is to accept that I have expectations I can't meet and then forgive myself for those shortcomings. I will still try to do better in those areas, but I no longer feel like a failure. Instead of striving for perfection, I now think "well things are better than they were before"

I too thank you for sharing your perspective. I appreciate your taking the time to share a little wisdom. I read nothing in your words that indicated you were controlling the situation. I got the sense that she was making some major decisions and you encouraged her. And it also appears she got her ducks in a row and she is happier for it.

I have felt this way in one instance. I have a friend who I admire and I have always felt inferior to because she is so good at the things I struggle with. I am aware that there are many things I do well that she doesn't do, but I still always felt bad about myself after every visit. Our visits have become few and far between because I seem to turn her off in spite of my efforts to measure up to her priorities. I have finally recognized the fact that I have been subconsciously pushing her away i…

I wonder if women mistake the tendency for men to be able to separate emotions from the sex act with an inability to form strong romantic attachments. That’s not the case at all. I think it’s probably not even correct to say there’s a total separation from the physical and the emotional during routine sex— it’s just that any emotions that are likely to be activated during the act itself won’t necessarily persist beyond the act if there aren’t other features present that facilitate compatability.…

He doesn't usually say thank you but he does show gratitude by his actions. These are usually tasks done to help me or please me. But they are always practical things like filling my gas tank and making coffee in the morning. Please don't think I don't appreciate this things and I do recognize that this is his love language. It is just that I would absolutely melt if every once in awhile he would take me in his arms and tell me that I am beautiful, tell me he is glad I am his woman. Is this just…

So what would be considered worshiping my man? What acts could I do that would be romantic in terms of a man's perspective?

Well I am glad to hear that the sentiment expressed in country music is real for men. That is reassuring. I am happy that romance is not a concept that dwells only in the minds of women. And I am happy to hear that loyalty and affection play a major role in keeping a relationship alive. I do understand the importance of both in terms of the long run. However, it is the small moments, the small gestures, the words that keep the fire burning. I just want to know what I can do to add fuel to the fi…

For me worshiping my man is giving him my best effort in putting a satisfying hot meal on the table and a satisfying blow job in bed. I just wish he would let me know when it pleases him. This may be enough for him in terms of romance. Maybe it isn't. Maybe he needs the words of affirmation as much as I do. I am just trying to come to terms with my need for the words.

Yes you right that women do not usually extend traditionally romantic gestures toward men. I have never sent my husband flowers and I regret that now. And I will also agree that much of romance involves worshiping women, but it also involves women worshiping men on the flip side.

In spite of the logic I see in this situation, I still really want to understand my need for romance. I have read many times that the TRP believes that it is men who are the true romantics. I do believe that. I just find it frustrating that I can't understand their concept of romance.

I am familiar with the love language test. I just never had the guts to ask him to take it. A rather bizarre aspect of our marriage is the need we both have for praise and our hesitation to give it in fear of being vulnerable. But lurking here gives me a glimpse into his perspective. That is a very valuable insight.

I read somewhere that children who have a strict father and a nurturing mother have a great advantage in life, having the best of both worlds. I wouldn't worry, but I would encourage you to speak up if you feel things become out of balance. For example, I learned early on that my husband simply did not have the patience to help with homework and it was more detrimental than helpful. However he was a natural in teaching them how to maintain their cars, household repair, home improvements, finance…

I have fought being vulnerable (which to me means being helpless) for most of my life and three decades of my marriage. I hate showing tears to anyone and have done a pretty good job of keeping them under wraps until I could have a melt down and a crying jag in private. In spite of my efforts, I still was vulnerable and my husband was fully aware of it. I may have had a smile on my face and sailed through the motions of getting shit done, but he always knew. It wasn't until years into our marria…
