I did the same thing in the beginning of January and then re-injured it when I came back a few weeks later. I'd recommend taking a little more time off than that to be safe and really ease back into it. It's a serious pain in the ass. Also...keep murdering the legs.

This argument comes down to our definition of depression. What is yours?

My personal story carries no weight in my original post. I don't understand what is so conceptually difficult about a disease that effects the mind, versus the body? Our thoughts are completely chemically based, so how is it so hard for you to grasp the idea of a brain that lacks the ability to adequately metabolize these chemicals, thus affecting our thought process, in many circumstances, due to no fault of our own? You're trying very hard to portray yourself as someone who is intelligent so I…

Took the time to read through my post history? I'm flattered. You made some good points about exercise, sleep, and proper diet. Nobody disagrees with you on that. It's pretty common knowledge. I'm not even sure what you are so upset about tbh. Nobody called me on my bullshit? Everyone agreed with me except the people who misunderstood what I was saying...and when I explained myself they generally agreed, barring a select few.

Absolutely. It's more so the manner in it's done. Telling someone with severe depression that they are a lazy slob and that's the reason they are depressed is quite likely what it will take to push them over the edge...because usually when people make a cry for help, they are already pretty close. Exercise is a great tool, though!

ANYWAYS You did a good job of outlining the first encounter with a primary care physician that is attempting to address feelings of depression. Your suggestion to exercise is something that I don't think anybody would disagree with. Your eloquent (dictionary might help you here) reference to Occam's Razor was very nice. I'm sure you thought about it for a long time. I'm sorry it wasn't as well received as you might've hoped, but I appreciate the effort. I can only imagine that little dent to you…

That would explain your oddly hostile reactions to some of the things I've said. Just let me know if you are having a hard time keeping up. I'll slow it down for you. Also you asked if there was anything else... Not some my misspelling of a word. Pick "some" or "my" here. Not both. Probably "my" because I'll respect you more for taking possession of your incompetence.

Definitely a viable option. Unfortunately sometimes it's not a matter of being able to produce the neurotransmitters, it's the inability to properly metabolize them that's a problem.

I'd suggest learning your 1st grade grammar before you tell me how I should pursue my professional degree. It's through, hotshot. Threw is the of past-tense of throw. Past-tense means it happened closer to diaper wearing time if you weren't sure.

You still replying has my hamster feeling extra special. Why are you so angry? Guy comes into your little slice of truth and asks people to think before they speak a little bit more and you get all hot and bothered. I've gotta ask...did you have a bad day? We can talk about it if you want.

Also I gotta say, you must've been really mad at the downvotes you were getting to crawl all the way to the bottom of the comments to find something to criticize me for.

I don't particularly like this sub. I just like to bring out the blue pill in people like you.

Fair enough. Take from it what you will. Research involves more than reading papers I don't understand, by the way.

You misinterpreted what I was saying. I'm unsure if english is your first language so I apologize if I sound like an asshole...but when I stated, "some people who exhibit depressive symptoms can work through them with exercise and proper diet" this means that I recognize its effectiveness. The last sentence of my conclusion was referring to the last sentence of my introduction.

If this is the type of thing that it takes to get people like you off the subreddit. I promise you I will continue to run this subreddit. Sorry if the tingles you got in your tummy from my feel good bullshit made you feel uncomfortable.

I couldn't agree more with everything you've said here....besides the neurotransmitter scapegoat thing. No doubt that the altered brain chemistry can be the result of lifestyle choices...but the evidence that it's not always the case is overwhelming.

73% of the user base would disagree. Start your own subreddit maybe? Just make sure it's clear that it's a no "feel good crap" zone. Good luck.

It's probably because when you start your post with, "I represent an impossibly small fraction of 'kind of' the community you are addressing, therefore I know everything about everyone experiencing the problem that is 'kind of' like mine." You look like a jackass.
/r/TheRedPill27/02/15 05:02 AM

Definitely. It's tough because there is such a strong stigma attached to it. Everyone who has actually struggled with the disorder knows that, in the eyes of everyone else, depression = feeling sad, so if you've overcome it, you don't want to deal with that stigma, and if you still struggle with it you don't want to be viewed as a pussy. So people just shut up and internalize it until they end up killing themselves. All I'm trying to do is let people know that there are some out there who unders…

I've heard similar anecdotes. That would not surprise me in the least.

I wouldn't consider myself an expert, but I did research in the field as an undergrad, I've had many lengthy discussions with professionals on the topic, I've struggled with it myself, seen many people close to me struggle with it, and I'm in the process of becoming a Doctor of Medicine that specializes in psychiatry. Not an expert, but well enough equipped to speak on it.

That's not a placebo effect lol. That's called feeling manic, because you fall closer to the bipolar side of the mental illness spectrum. I'm guessing you were taking an SSRI?

If the solution to depression was as simple as, "lift, eat clean, sleep." I promise you the multi-million dollar industry set out to isolate the causes and cure the disorder would not exist. I wouldn't struggle with the disorder if it was that simple. At my peak I was 6'2" 187 and my body fat % was in the single digits. I was smashing the weight room, sleeping great, and eating better. I promise you...diet and exercise is not the solution to all the world's problems G. I know it's scary to try a…

You guarantee it huh? I know multiple people who have offed themselves because that exact guarantee you just made backfired. It's not "feel good crap." It's part of the process of becoming a more complete human being. Beginning to understand things that we have not experienced allows us to empathize. If you don't care about anyone but yourself...fantastic...this post isn't for you, but you are speaking on something that you know nothing about, and I know it might be hard, but try and acknowledge…

Nothing about my post is condemning or misleading. Also I read your post...I take back everything I've said and I've turned my back on all the scientific research done on mental illness because your personal anecdote was so inspiring. You are spinning 4 plates?? Your depression is the result of frustration with hypergamy? Well shit. I guess nobody knows anything except you. My bad man sorry to offend your superior perspective.

I'm not sure where everyone is getting the, "If you are depressed take a pill!" vibe from my post. I never once suggested that someone with depression get on an anti-depressant.
/r/TheRedPill26/02/15 10:15 PM

I never once suggested medication was the answer in my original post. I simply asked TRP community to be a little more conscientious with their approach to these situations. I'm glad that you're doing better, though! Identifying and sticking to a solution that is effective is no easy task for someone with a mood disorder. I commend you for that.
/r/TheRedPill26/02/15 09:04 PM

That is essentially all I was trying to say. If you see someone struggling, suggest that they seek help, don't just assume they live a certain lifestyle, and then criticize them for it.
/r/TheRedPill26/02/15 09:02 PM

I'm sorry to hear about your stepfather. Regarding anti-depressants as a shortcut for the lazy shows that you don't understand very much about them, though. Anti-depressants aren't a fun toy that give you an edge over other people at life. In fact, the side effects often make them unappealing to anyone who doesn't absolutely need them....but they can save lives and make otherwise intelligent, hard-working people recognize their potential once the cloud is lifted.
/r/TheRedPill26/02/15 08:39 PM

Depressed people rarely blame other's for their problems. It's quite the contrary. If anything, they blame themselves a great deal more than they should. This is exactly the attitude I'm talking about. You clearly understand nothing about the disorder, yet you feel inclined to spout off pseudo-advice that has absolutely no basis in reality. It'd be best if you just kept your mouth shut about things you clearly don't understand.

You took the right first steps. Stick with the prozac if you feel like it's working, but if you notice an increase in suicidal thoughts after being on the medication for over 2 weeks, I recommend stopping and speaking with your doctor about an alternative. SSRI's have the potential to exacerbate manic behavior, and have been known to give people with severe depression just enough motivation to go through with suicide. With that being said, it can be a very useful tool for many people who are wor…

It definitely is a fantastic approach to a majority of people with feelings of depression. No professional would disagree. However, there is a massive distinction between feeling sad sometimes, and being clinically depressed. I'm just trying to bring a little awareness to that distinction.

I wasn't proposing the solution was always a chemical one. However, in many cases that solution has saved lives. 50 years ago these people often fell by the wayside, discarded by society because they turned to substance abuse to cope. I'm not saying lazy people are all depressed, nor am I giving them an excuse to perpetuate a lifestyle that may have led to depressed feelings. I'm just saying being a little more conscience of the biological nature of individuals who suffer from a disorder falling…

I don't think holding a mid-level position in the corporate hierarchy makes you exempt from fitting the sigma persona. In fact, I could see it as ideal depending on the sigma's relationship and pull with the executives.

Who are you to tell this man what he should want? Maybe he would prefer to handle the money/debt. Maybe her taste in music is part of what attracts him to her because it's representative of deeper personality traits that he likes in a person. It goes without saying the dude wants her to be loyal. No shit.

I'm not complaining. You can like being someone's friend and still want to date them at some point. Clearly I came to the wrong place. My bad.

I'm not saying she wants to branchswing to me, but it's pretty clear she isn't happy with her current boyfriend and she's looking for something better. Sorry, but that's just not me. I'd rather be alone than act like somebody I'm not to get into a relationship. I've got no problem running game on girls I just want to sleep with, but if I like them, they'll get the real me and if they don't like it...well I guess that's just tough shit.

Yeah I wouldn't mind fucking her, but I actually liked her too. I'm just saying that's not all I care about. It's secondary, and it's boring to me unless I actually care about the girl. You can call me a liar, or whatever, but that's the truth. I actually care about the girl, I know quite a bit about the guy, he's not some stranger. I grew up in the same town as him. He's an asshole, but I guess that's what it takes. I'd just like to believe there is more to life than mind games. improving your …

I appreciate a lot of things this subreddit has to offer, but it's so primal. "If you can't bang her, idk why you are still talking to her." Idk maybe because there is more to life than sticking a dick in a vagina? You all talk like you're in a cult or something.

The dude has been with her for over 2 years and it's the only guy she has ever dated. She's been talking to me for 10 days. Obviously he has a slight advantage that reaches a little bit further than objective SMV comparisons. Sorry but girls don't just jump ship from their first love the second someone with a higher SMV hits on them. It takes way more than that. Who the fuck are you to be talking all this shit anyways, slick? Also, I'm not gonna sacrifice being who I am just so I can pump and du…

What if I like being her friend? lol I'm not some bitch, man. I'm also not overvaluing myself. I'm just stating objective truths and then relating those truths to him. Girls are often extremely type-oriented unless the guy is clearly model material, but even then there are no guarantees. Maybe he really is objectively, physically more attractive than you to 95% of women, and sure, he may take the hottest friend more often than not, but you will attract more attention from women overall when you're with him, and looks are only a small portion of the battle. I'm told pretty consistently that women think I'm hot, I catch women checking me out all the time, and I …

Oh I know she isn't LTR material, but I don't think her desire to branch swing is the reason. That's just how women are.

I love a lot of things about TRP philosophy/lifestyle but it's just so black and white to me. All women don't automatically get value by default. If you are an unattractive women life will be substantially harder than if you were an unattractive male. Sure...beautiful women aren't typically going to face a lot of adversity as far as monetary stability goes, but neither are beautiful men. Unattractive women are going to struggle to find jobs that they are equally qualified for and an even harder …

Yup you're completely right. Putting it that way makes complete sense. Thanks.
/r/askTRP

The idea behind it is people want what they can't have. The fact is if I were to actually try and go through with this, by the time I'd have her to the point where the head game would theoretically be effective, I wouldn't be able to say no anyways. It was just a thought.
/r/askTRP

As I said below, I always initiate intimacy in the early stages of a romantic relationship. I'm talking about getting her to the point where she is basically begging for it and then telling her she has to wait.

I should clarify. I always initiate intimacy in the early stages of a romantic relationship. I'm talking about getting her to the point where she is basically begging for it and then telling her she has to wait.
