He literally covered this point in his first sentence. this is true in modern Evangelical Christianity but medieval Christianity is not exactly set up in this way

I'm pretty sure most men into that stuff are AGPs self-inserting as the woman

Yes, and for my money this is the most disagreeable subreddit on the site by a mile. Almost every single post, no matter the subject, everyone disagrees with the OP. Pillers of every kind write curt and rude responses to the most innocuous things. I've never seen anyone admit they're wrong or change their opinion, ever. It's also the only subreddit I've seen where the women are noticeably ruder than the men

But the relative prevalence or rarity is relevant, no? If 1% of couples were as in your scenario, that's a big difference to 10%, or 20%, even though it's a minority in all cases. What I'm saying is that the situations I see in my own life seem more prevalent than I have been lead to believe

Oxford and Cambridge are tiny, they aren't (the modern definition of) cities. They're just university towns

I'm British, born, raised and still living in a tier 2 city. Britain only has one "cosmopolitan" city though, so you may be right

I experience my reality more tenuously than a lot of other people. I'm prone to second-guessing myself and living more in my own head than the physical world. If something makes intuitive and logical sense to me, it's hard to disregard it using personal experience, for some reason.

Sexual submissiveness, not general submissiveness. BDSM interest etc.

That's interesting that this has already been integrated into red pill theory, thank you and I will have a look at your link. Possibly I misunderstood "AWALT" because I'm not as familiar with red-pill theory as I thought.

Have you noticed, by the way, that not many people are answering your question? The entire thread has devolved into "women are right not to date bi men" vs "women are wrong not to date bi men". I think that is an answer in itself.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/25 07:05 PM

You: "nobody cares what you think about who they date" The opening post of this thread is literally by a woman concerned about opinions of women's dating preferences

Then why are they here asking about it?

My experience with almost everyone is that their progressivism is skin-deep, sadly. Among my own acquaintances, I actually find those without strong political opinions to be generally the most tolerant of human diversity.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/25 04:04 PM

OK and you being equally shallow supports your argument how? If you wouldn't date a woman who has a completely harmless hobby, that just reflects badly on you
/r/PurplePillDebate19/03/25 03:49 PM
47

Because it's obviously true. Some of the most outwardly progressive women I know have told me that bi men give them the ick. And the rationale is that having sex with other men, in the minds of women, makes a guy seem less masculine. It's even worse if she knows you've bottomed. It's not exclusive to bi men, most women feel this way about sexually submissive men in general. There are obviously some who don't, but in general the rule holds.

It is indeed a self-defeating behaviour. I think many people don't view romantic relationships as a kind of deep soulmate love. They are more utilitarian. He's strong, he can defend me, he earns money, he's sexy etc Real romantic people are very few. For what it's worth, my wife was my best friend before we started dating. And her friends are always wondering what our "secret" is, why our relationship is so much stronger than everyone else's around us. But they would never consider dating a frie…
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/25 10:33 AM

You're right that women only want to be with men they respect. The chief appeal is in taking a highly competent man and wrapping him around their little finger. That is still a form of power and dominance even if it's not normally acknowledged as such. And even if it's not the kind of dominance you really prefer. Don't worry, women have this problem too, when they want to be dominated by an intelligent, beautiful, gently sadistic bishounen. But they have to settle for a rough grug
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/25 11:15 AM

Is it really true that women don't like having sexual power over men? I think some women do like feeling completely powerless. But a lot also enjoy "restraining" their men right? I think the idea of a man who desperately desires them, but the woman has the power to "allow" him to take her or not, is appealing to many women. You're right that "femdom" in the sense of a woman whipping a man isn't appealing. It's too fantastical, it doesn't have any roots in real experience. But dominant woman/subm…

You've misread my comment. I agree that the woman doesn't prefer the alpha to the beta, I'm saying that's why I didn't use that terminology As it happens, the last sentence you said there is basically what I was trying to work out
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/25 02:07 PM
1

Thanks for your reply! I guess my question was around whether there is any active compartmentalisation... Like "the idea of being slapped is hot, but I want my actual husband to only respect me". I'm quite surprised the answers are so one-sided but maybe I'm on the wrong tack. Perhaps I'm thinking too male-brained.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/25 08:29 AM
1

But alpha/beta implies she prefers the alpha, right? Whereas I'm not talking here about preference for which man, I'm talking about preference for doing certain things with certain types of men. For example, a woman who fantasises about degrading sex, but wouldn't want her actual husband to do that to her (since it's contrary to her romantic feelings). From the responses though, it doesn't seem my hypothesis was correct
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/25 08:16 AM
6

You're right, I don't understand women. That's why I'm here asking actually
/r/PurplePillDebate17/02/25 11:52 AM
6

If the language of "rape" fantasy bothers you, please just focus on the choking/slapping instead, which most women in this thread say they like. It's immaterial to the subject of the thread, it only matters that it's violent or forceful in some way
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/25 04:39 PM
6

Studies suggest as many as 60% of women have rape fantasies. It may even be higher than that because of social desirability bias.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/25 01:50 PM
2

But this isn't even a negative thing. In fact I would be quite relieved if it were true, because then it means that even though they like this stuff, they don't expect me personally to do it
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/25 01:45 PM
4

But surely kinky sex things are hot because they relate to real life things. Men choking women doesn't happen in a vacuum, it happens against the real backdrop of male sexual violence against women
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/25 01:29 PM
3

Surely it's better to ask men what women do, but it's better to ask women why they do it/the psychology behind it?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/25 01:28 PM
4

The answer so far is a pretty unanimous "no"
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/25 01:19 PM
1

Does it concern you on any level that the love of your life gets off on choking you? (Not judging. Just interested)
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/25 12:53 PM

I have also noticed this discrepancy OP, but it seems to be the complete opposite way around for me. What I have gathered from what they say is that women want a man who is: Tall (over 6') Dominant/rough in bed Muscular Deep-voiced Perhaps a little dangerous Athletic A "doer" rather than a "thinker" So basically, masculine in appearance and behaviour. The thing is, I'm none of those things, but I've never struggled with finding a partner. In fact, most of the time it feels like women are the one…

Most things are unattractive on some level. I took your comment to mean they are more unattractive than attractive.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/25 03:39 PM

Thanks for your reply! Appreciate it.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/25 03:37 PM

I think it's way less unhealthy than watching violently misogynistic porn genres, which seems to be the other way that perverted women go. Question to you /u/appropriate_cow1378 : is the appreciation of yaoi like an interest in a certain dynamic from the perspective of an outside observer, or do fujos actively self-insert as the bottom male?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/25 02:52 PM
1

I mean JS Bach absolutely fucked so maybe there is something to it
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/25 09:37 AM
1

Is violence really that unattractive (to the opposite sex)? The biggest problem for criminals historically is not the struggle to find a partner (they find this very easy) but the struggle to not get killed by other males
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/25 09:25 AM
6

I think this is because people confuse "active/passive" with "dominant/submissive". In my experience, there isn't much difference in numbers between dominant and submissive women. But most women do prefer to be the passive partner, and most men do prefer to be the active partner. Like, how many straight women are there who love lying back and having their pussy eaten by a man who desires them so much he will do whatever they say? Absolutely tons. But bizarrely you will still see this described a…

I don't think I would really mind her watching female-friendly or passionate stuff, like what you would find on /r/chickflixxx. It would definitely bother me if she watched like gangbangs, rough BDSM etc.

She said she assumed me that I am a vanilla guy because I am nice and friendly and told me that she likes it rough in bed even though we didn't have sex. She said that we are not physically compatible because our preferences in bed don't line up. I think you dodged a bullet here buddy.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/12/24 10:53 PM

I'm married, but if I weren't, I simply wouldn't date in that case. easier said than done I know
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/24 09:47 PM
8

The thing is, I don't find it hurtful on its own terms, because I'm not actually that masculine (I think?), or at least I don't care about whether I am or not. I'm very comfortable in my own skin. I find it more upsetting because of what it says about the mentality of the other person, what they value, and how much (or little) they respect me.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/24 05:34 PM

"Be a man" and "you're not man enough" are completely intolerable phrases for me, that tell me my partner is only interested in me as a social role, an idea of what a man is, and not in me as a person. I flatly refuse to date anyone who has attitudes like this. It's especially disgusting when ostensibly feminist women say these things.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/24 09:21 AM
3

I'm frequently disappointed by the average person and struggle a lot with the way they constantly undershoot my hopes and expectations in terms of attitudes, desires and values. I have idealistic and misanthropic phases because of this. I definitely wouldn't date the average person. My wife is my perfect partner and I'm glad I'm not in the position of having to settle for less. I'm male btw, I can't work out how to set a flair on the app.

I don't want this to sound judgmental of your desires, because my comments aren't coming from that place, and obviously I don't really know you. But it is kind of a sad thought, that you can't even imagine being turned on without someone having power over you. I can't say it any other way except that domination and love are not compatible in my mind. Could I be very forceful with my wife, could I hold her wrists down, could I slap her, could I role-play being a rapist, even if she wanted me to? …

I respect your opinion even if I disagree. I don't think these things are ever as meaningless/"for fun" as people say they are. I read a study, I think it was Holvoet 2017 on sex fantasies, which found that practicing gender-typical kink (i.e. male dom, female sub) was significantly associated with acceptance of rape myths ("she deserved it" etc). This was true for both male and female practitioners. I don't think that was true of gender-atypical kink but they have nailed their flag to the same …

I'm getting into my personal philosophy here because I'm pretty anti-BDSM/kink... Or at least I don't think it's right for most people and hate how it's been mainstreamed. I agree with what you said here: That being said, I don't think this is necessarily about being dominant or submissive. I don't see why any of these kinds of desire have to be filtered through a dom/sub lens. What is a "caregiver dom"? Someone who supports you in tough times, who makes you feel safe? Shouldn't any good partner…

I was being glib, sorry. I think what I really should have said is that is that if you perceive/present yourself as submissive, which you said in the tradwives post, you're opening yourself up for someone to dominate you. When it seems like you actually want the opposite of that. Totally understand the cottagecore desires... I want to live in a big mushroom

Porn is gross, its production is highly unethical in basically all of its forms and it's terrible for its users as well. I'm not surprised women oppose it and more men should too

I compete just fine... I make a top 10% salary in my country. I'd throw it all away for the chance to cook delicious meals, look after the kids and give daily massages to my high-flying wife I'm 100% serious.

I saw a guy on 4chan say that he desperately wants advanced sex robots to be created. Why? So he can be depraved as possible without a real woman to tell him no? No, he claims, it's because he can have romantic sex with a sex robot and it won't ask him to choke or slap it. I thought that was a good microcosm of exactly how fucked up things are getting.

Red pill men are psychopaths and red pill women are deluded. That's the answer to why they eulogize male psychopathy. For the men, it's nothing but defensive rationalisation of their own aggression and low impulse control. For the women, it's delusion that their violent chimp of a boyfriend really loves her deep down and that aggression is synonymous with protectiveness. Nobody can be a red piller without having extremely low empathy.

Because it's under-studied... That's why we're here debating it. The science isn't settled and very few researchers are interested in rigorously exploring it. I do have some evidence in my favour though. The study I posted in the main body shows sexual fantasies correlate with hierarchy preference in relationships. There's also this one on BDSM role preference and attachment style: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10508-024-02829-1 Compared to other groups, the percentages of secure an…

While Maledom is seen as being about care and protection and raw desire, Femdom is seen as being inherently sadistic and degrading and humiliating. I think that is an explanation for why women in general are sexually submissive but not a reason why dominant women aren't visible
/r/PurplePillDebate07/11/24 06:06 PM

I'm not a redpiller. I think we all know what a bad boy is right? A man who's exciting because he's a bit dangerous. It's a male archetype as imagined by women, a kind of stock character.

I put the disclaimer at the top for a reason, I understand you may self-identify differently, and I don't want to call you a liar (I don't know you after all). The study I linked in the body shows a statistical correlation between desired romantic role and sexual preference. This is true. This is why I love my fiancée so much - she knows my worth and shows me with romance and gestures. (And of course, I do the same for her). I honestly would rather be single than date a woman who is all take and no give.

Wouldn't agree, some girls feel something is wrong if their man doesn't open up to them. My girlfriend hates it if I'm closed off with her, being honest definitely strengthens our relationship, so it can help in a LTR.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/12/20 09:27 AM

Agreed. I don't think OP's women look more "feminine" but they certainly look more sickly and waifish. Men prefer women who look in great health, and women prefer the same in their men. This is why I'm always having to convince my girlfriend that she doesn't need to lose weight.

Does biology have something to do with it? Like, sure, maybe. But it’s probably more useful to examine the social structures underlying this instead of throwing up our hands and further devaluing and gaslighting women’s sexuality Wow, this is a lot of guff just to sidestep Occam's razor. "Sexology" and "behavioural sciences" - sounds like a lot of qualitative and hard-to-replicate research methods to me.

/r/PurplePillDebate19/11/19 03:16 PM

I agree actually, I think the last quarter of the story veered into being unrealistic. The kind of guy described in the story would never do a 180 on his feminist beliefs, they'd be too deeply ingrained at that point. He'd be more /r/foreveralone than /r/incels if you get me

You've just quoted random words from the story, I'm not sure what your criticism of them is.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/11/19 03:06 PM

According to the author, you're not supposed to think the main character is good. The story is an analysis of a social condition, it's very obviously not a screed in favour of incel terrorism. It's like you don't know how to think about things before you bash out a response!

Oh no, I am definitely a prescriptivist 😫 I've noticed it with lots of things as well. Increasing use of words and phrases like: gross, not okay, yummy, icky. Also lots and lots of euphemistic language, the word "problematic" being one that especially gets my goat. I think it goes hand in hand with infantilisation of culture, look at the amount of people in "fandoms" and obsessing over kids' movies.

I don't think this subreddit is particularly circlejerk-y.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/12/17 06:05 PM

Well the reason I wanted to find the sub was to start a discussion about the infantilisation of language in media, if that helps. Like a saw the BBC tweet something like "right in the feels" the other day.

Are there any other subs like PPD but for more general cultural issues? Ideally with a varied userbase with no overall majority opinion/circlejerk. I keep observing interesting social things in my life and wanting to discuss them with PPD, but they aren't gender related.

Men are a lot more likeable when you pretty yourself up and they allow you to control them. They also gives you the best parts of themselves, which isn't their "love" it's their sacrifice. It's one noble thing they have that we don't, and it's their redeeming feature. Care to expand on this point? Quite interesting.

I'm a man. I love cooking and there's no better feeling than other people liking your food. I'm about equally as good at maths and humanities, but in the end I chose to study languages at university. This is highly unusual, in some of my classes I'm the only boy. I've been told I look "delicate", i.e. big eyes, defined features- sometimes people think I "look gay".
