Some good points. Will definitely try for more remote opportunities. They are out there in my field. Most are tied to a city where you have to be within commenting distance to come in a few days a week, but some are all remote. My college paid 90% for my former step-daughter's tuition. (The step-daughter who then sheltered and helped her mom during her leaving and affair) Now they have a rule that anyone in the state whose parents make less than 90K gets free tuition, so the "benefit" to working…

You make good points. She would not come after me for child support. There's lots of reasons for that I won't go into. I might pay a little more for a 2BR apt in Chicago than I do for a 3-4BR place here. This place isn't exactly cheap for such a middle of nowhere city either. This is definitely a reaction to being passed over and I'm trying to navigate that. I almost landed a come into the office once a week type job 3 hours away that would have paid me a lot more and I could have continued livi…

I usually managed them on my own during the marriage so it wasn't a heavy lift or a big change for me. Not for several months and until she got her own place.

No, she moved out and left me with the kids while she started the new relationship without telling me. It took most of last year to sell the marital home and pay off our mutual debts. The past 3 months have been the first chance I've got to breathe and settle into my new life/apartment, but some shenanigan's at my work have sort of piled onto thinking maybe it's best I move away.

17 years. It was civil because she strung me along during the separation. I did not find out about the other guy until after they were already married and then started deducing they met while we were still married. We're friendly co-parents, but I think if she passed away tomorrow it would be a net benefit to humanity and not just because of what she did to me. There's other factors too. I obviously do not say that to her or our kids.

She was 42 when they met & married. Not a fling, he’s her “sOuLmAtE”

I’m also on 50/50 custody and as much as I miss them when they’re not around, I do enjoy the breaks a bit. Their mom would never spend one on one time with them and my youngest was attached to my hip when we were married. Asked for help and a mental break so many times but she never would.

My gut reaction is to argue with you, but you make good points. Every situation is different and if this was the first divorce for her, then I’d be likely to agree with your analysis. But, she’s about to be on her third marriage with the next one. Her pattern of behavior in romantic relationships has not changed in the grand scheme of things. Her attentiveness to our kids will most likely slack off once she has another kid with the new supply.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
