I wish it were easier to take part in consent culture, but women and men make it hardThe bisexual woman owned up to being open to a woman asking for consent but being turned off by a guy who does. That's very interesting. It opens up the possibility that this is a matter of what's attractive on men, rather than what's attractive to women. What I heard about grindr is that if you want to have casual sex you can just say so in your profile, swipe for a few minutes, and get laid that very night almost as a matter of course. Which is kind of what I imagined tinder was supposed to be… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 04/04/22 05:13 AM
I wish it were easier to take part in consent culture, but women and men make it hardCan I touch your boobs now? I thought you'd never ask <3 If they are still making pokemon cards a complete deck must be comically huge by now. It is really strange that the left doesn't want to do anything with - or even acknowledge - the baby in the PUA bathwater. I think they are in conflict mode, and so are focused on destroying the enemy, meaning acknowledging nuance is an unwelcome distraction. Still, an actually good and ethically sound version of that stuff is desperately needed. Hell, I … | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 03/04/22 07:27 AM
I wish it were easier to take part in consent culture, but women and men make it hardAgreed. The science of why social skills are attractive may not be so simple, but I think it's worth simplifying a bit to communicate the message efficiently. As you say, we could discuss the underlying reasons all day, but the important fact is that social skills are attractive. I also agree that a long term relationship is a great way to learn these skills. I was pretty oblivious to this kind of stuff before I met my wife. However, that's not much help to people who struggle to form relationsh… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 02/04/22 09:36 PM
I wish it were easier to take part in consent culture, but women and men make it hardAgreed, maybe lesbians will be able to shed some light on the issue of social finesse and female attraction. Lesbian experiences might not fully carry over, but more information is always better. I'm especially curious about what it's like to be lesbian on something like tinder. From what I've heard, it's a lot more enjoyable being a man on grindr than on tinder. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 02/04/22 07:06 PM
I wish it were easier to take part in consent culture, but women and men make it hardI'm not sure the fact that it works with men proves that it can work with women. In my judgement, your experience mainly seems to confirm that men don't have the same priorities as women when judging attractiveness (for instance, men barely care about social status). The question is to which degree these priorities are malleable. Personally, I think they are quite firmly planted at the basic level. | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 02/04/22 06:38 PM
I wish it were easier to take part in consent culture, but women and men make it hardBased on my admittedly limited understanding of selection, selecting against a trait in only one sex will still work to reduce the prevalence of that trait in the population at large over time. Edit: Even if social ineptitude had no bearing on the survival of your offspring, sexual selection is a self-reinforcing system. So once enough females have decided to to select males based on social aptitude, everyone is going to want their offspring to be as socially skilled as possible, to maximize the… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 02/04/22 02:58 PM
I wish it were easier to take part in consent culture, but women and men make it hardThere is certainly a lot of talking past each other in this thread. For instance, people aren't clearly agreeing about what the increments of escalation are. When you mention taking it from 79 to 80, are you talking about the example of cuddling, then asking "can I touch your breast"? Because depending on whom you ask, that would be more like taking it from 30 to 45. I think there is a clear difference in how many steps of escalation people naturally perceive, depending on their social skills. B… | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 02/04/22 11:38 AM
I wish it were easier to take part in consent culture, but women and men make it hardThat's not what I mean. I think if the other person is being ambiguous you shouldn't just keep going and going. I'd like to point out that I think you guys' communication broke down at this point. You appear to be using the word "ambiguous" in different ways, and it's giving you inaccurate pictures of each other's actual opinions. It appears to be a classic case of mismatch between use of an adjective as a descriptor versus a qualifier. Consider the phrase "I hate those noisy motorcycles". | 4 | male violence-why?Regarding your take that biology can't be changed whereas society can, I can recommend reading this piece for an interesting perspective: https://slatestarcodex.com/2014/09/10/society-is-fixed-biology-is-mutable/ | /r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates | 11/11/21 09:17 AM
