I think you’ll inevitably have to make sacrifices if you want to fulfil your wish. From this post, it just sounds like you’re a little inexperienced when it comes to socialising, which is totally okay! If it’s a case of being socially anxious, then slowly easing yourself into talking and socialising might be a good idea. He’s 26, so he could just be inexperienced but who knows at this stage.
