Bearing in mind that I am a woman, I can say that female hostility towards men can vary according to groups. At least in my religious community, without pretending that all of the women are familiar with the subject of female sexual coercion, I can say that all of the ones my husband and I have conversed with have at least been humble enough to relinquish preconceived ideas. To be fair, false accusation is just as difficult to prove as rape and sexual assault. Most sexual aggressors are probably acquitted due to insufficient proof too. Just as I'll defend the right to be presumed not guilty of sexual assault, I'll defend the right to be presumed not guilty of false accusation too. In such cases, low conviction rates are to be expected either way since they are both difficult to prove.

I'll offer my seat on a bus if I have reasonable grounds to believe that the person needs it more than I do. If a person asks for my seat, I would give that person the benefit of the doubt and give my seat even if that person looks like an athlete. I agree that the man was foolish to meet alone with a woman he did not know well enough to know that she would respect his limits. Fair enough. That was just one anecdote. There is a British study on the male help-seeking experience and it's quite depressing. In Canada too, in Toronto, there are violence shelters for women but male victims are just thrown into the common homeless shelters. We notice it in advertising too. Posters in Montreal always address female victims exclusively. Why might you think that is and who do you think supports such discrimination the most?
