I paid Child support payments for 17 years. Once my son turned 18 and the payment stopped that became his rent ( $200 pw ) He now has a mortgage and his own place at 22 years old. My son knows it was all about the dollars.

In Australia we have a Apprehended Domestic Violence Order. ADVO. This is where the police can remove a partner in a relationship without charge. I did 40 days in my car after my divorce. I had cash but only enough to buy a cheap flat. I ate at lunchtime in clubs as a solid baked dinner for $7 is great. Surf clubs have free showers and public pools have free hot showers. Clothes were bought from Charities and are very cheap and good brand names. The holiday parks have large capacity washing and drying machines. I am in Australia and everything is expensive. But just have to talk to others doing it rough.

I was allowed to pick up my son but that cost me $200 per week. The mother arranged private collection. So full welfare plus a $200 per week top up.
