Spent 3K total on the divorce which we split. I kept all of my 401K and brokerage accounts, she kept her pension and 401K. We split the money in our checking/savings 50/50, now we are selling the house and splitting the profit equally. I still hate that it had to come to this, but we are at least being kind to each other and having discussions on how we are both learning and growing from our failed marriage. Zero chance of reconciliation on both ends.

You need to get a lawyer asap. Don’t get walked over, take care of yourself.

I don’t regret my marriage. I regret not being ready enough for what it took to care about my partners needs outside of my own. Specifically, I didn’t realize how much I needed to take care of my mental health and how it affected others. I learned a lot from this relationship and marriage.

Affairs don’t really matter or the courts in Texas (I’ve been in a similar situation). It would be more of a personal win for you, that could cost you a bit more. Filing uncontested is the cheapest and fastest way to move forward.

Not rude imo. Just make sure you’re aware that it could lead back to you and cause more problems for you and you’re prepared for those consequences. If you want to go scorched earth, disregard the advice.

I resonate with this so much. Such a shitty spot to be in.

Man that’s tough. Sorry you’re going through this man. I can tell you that getting closure and explanations is something I’ve been getting a lot of, and it wrecks me every time. Hearing the words and realizing that the person I thought she was is not there any more is damaging. Just some food for thought, I hope you are doing what you can to take care of yourself.

He’s my lawyer and we are serving her. My interests are protected. She’s will waive her right to an attorney for the process since we have agreed to everything on our own. Trying to save as much money as possible.

Absolutely. Making some one the villain in your own story frees them of the responsibility of taking ownership in their own faults.

She’s not retaining counsel. We’re using one lawyer.

She agreed to let us each keep our own retirements/pensions, split the house 50/50, and pay off debts jointly. I should be coming out okay from this financially at least.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
