Sounds like you're mostly indifferent at this stage. How long ago did you split and what prompted you to want to post online if you feel indifferent?

Sound like we have our own mountains to climb. I get anxiety about finding peace and maybe even companionship one-day. Otherwise my anxiety is mostly over. My ex is very reasonable with everything regarding the split. We co parent very well.

I have tremendous resentment towards my ex. I'm grappling with this as my primary enemy right now. It's very easy to be consumed by hatred... Hopefully I'll get there

It's all so sad, have you reached a place where you feel like you've recovered from the divorce? I hope to get there one day, I still feel so much sorrow. It's hard for me to rationalise how someone can turn out to be so different to the person you thought they were. Honestly, the only people's character I now have confidence in is myself and my young child. Even those people who have really stood by me (family/friends)... Ive just lost confidence in trusting people to be who I think they are. N…

I'm going to share an opinion you probably won't like. Honestly some people don't realise the severity of their behaviours until an outside professional helps them understand... or until the stakes are dire and locked in. The reality is that counselling may have helped, you are of course entitled to leave... anyone is, she could have, there's nothing special about giving up. But I personally believe that's a betrayal of vows. Unless someone's physical safety is at risk, if 1 person in the couple…

Hey Brotherman, I'm 32 so in a different phase of life. However, try remain amicable and don't fight this. If you've been reasonable and made your desire to work on things heard... And she declined it's time to move on. Don't add friction where it's not due. Respect her decision, you can hate her but don't voice this. See a therapist for yourself, talk to your friends and family. Don't involve your children even if they are adults. No need to make this worse than it is. Contact a lawyer but reme…

Fee on selling a house 20-40k, but people are worried about $1000 in therapy? Even if it doesn't work, it can provide closure and introspection/self reflection. I agree it's doomed in some situations, but not all. I think the potential for harm from counselling is minimal outside of domestic violence

I don't think so, I nearly slept with someone but backed out... It made me feel bad, dirty somehow. I think we just aren't ready mate. 😩 I wanted to be ready so I could say to myself " I don't need or want her"... But that wasn't true... You can't lie to yourself

I've decided to spend at a minimum 1 year not dating. Trying to get to know me, started doing the things I enjoy and going out in public by myself... Cafes/restraints/beach etc. I've enjoyed it, but that deep pain and sense of abandonment is still there, raw. Thankyou for your message :)

Go to couples counselling as well. You can't afford not to go. Marriage is about trying when it's hard. Yes she needs to work, but you will both have areas of improvement and likely need help seeing the marriage through each other's eyes.

Best thing that ever happened to me, was that for the first 4-6 weeks my wife wanted no contact. This was horrible to experience, because the split was very sudden for me. That being said, we have a child and communication slowly had to and did open up. We are doing very well in co-parenting. That's not to say I don't feel times of resentment, anger, betrayal.... I have so many conversations of what I want to say in my head/in the car.... But our emotions betray our future selves. I'd suggest cu…

Have you been to individual and couples therapy?

Thanks dude, it's good to know there's a village of guys out there the same as myself. I actually got good news from the courts today that our financial separation has been approved. It was what we both hoped for so I'll be able to make a fresh start in a few months. Going to see an apartment on the beach tomorrow with my parents and my son. Excited for my future, even if I have to find it through tears.

Bro, that eagle nosed Chieftan is jaded as all hell. What's wrong about worrying if there will be another bus. Sure I can walk, but maybe I don't want to.

I blamed myself for a lot of the issues when my marriage fell apart. I came to realise the subtle ways my wife withdrew, weaponised affection and gaslit me when I highlighted the lack of emotional presence. I have come to realise the emotional neglect is as harmful as when I raised my voice while we fought, it came not from a place of frustration like with me... But from contempt and disrespect. There was no value placed on the stability, love and loyalty I poured into our family. I don't know i…

How long have you been separated/divorced? Did you try date?

Yea, I don't know how a future partner would react to it... And I'm not really the kind of person who would like about it. So probably just need to stick to myself or casual hookups. There's worse things.

Man, this divorce is a tough fucking pill to swallow. It's so sad we've come to this. You're so right though, desperation has driven so much of this and I can't let it keep driving things

Sounds like a plan. I've thought about using an escort and just forgoing dating for a few years. It's legal in my country and I have the spare cash. Just not sure on the morals. Lol

Hey King, thanks for replying. What did you find was the hardest part? I've started noticing how many divorced people there are around me haha. Felt so isolated and stigmatised to start, but feels like a bit of a club now.

Are you living single like that now? How long did it take you to adjust?

Thanks dude, I'm looking forward to feeling comfortable alone. I've started going out for breakfast by myself. Have a nice long 2 hour walk. It's been good. It's just hard to not have that love in my life.

Thanks for replying. I know this is the right way, I think my heart's just looking for that affirmation and affection. Does it get easier being alone? Cheers bro

If the miscarriage impacted her for all those other years, it'll still impact her now. She may feel different because she has distractions and other responsibilities... But it's still real. You need to go for a walk dude, as soon as possible. Like a 2 hour walk. Be with your thoughts but move. Tell yourself some affirmations. Your life can become anything if you put yourself to it. I know how the emotions come and go though, I just posted my own message (also signed off as my Ted Talk lol)... Th…
