I'm a feminist and work in this field. Again I'm not chronically online and I know that sometimes things can get unhinged on university campuses but in terms of actual spaces working on supporting survivors of sexual violence I don't really see this competition because when you sincerely do this work you focus on survivors. There are a wide variety of feminists and not every woman's understanding of feminism is the same. But the spaces I've worked in even educate on the reality that women sexual…

Thank you for sharing your story and bringing in a class analysis to this. Also thank you for mentioning bell hooks, as a Black feminist some of these discussions are so disturbing to me because it's just not the type of feminism I was raised with as a Black low income woman. We need to build community and find justice and healing. If groups are getting pitted against each other it's a sign that those it power are pitting us against each other. That's how I look at Red Pill and it's misandrist e…

Men and boys are sexually abused by both men and women. Anyone who genuinely works supporting survivors of sexual violence knows that. In lesbian communities rape happens. Women can rape other women. Again, I don't know if this was a genuine discussion or not. I do think there is an issue with perceiving men as victims of women but I feel that is coming just as much from men as women. This bizarre idea that men always want sex is very dangerous and has been used by some women to excuse their sex…

Please take care of yourself and do your term paper. There is a way to address this via your family's religious background being an asset. I am Muslim and currently, even mainstream imams are trying to grapple with the fact that more Muslim young men are following incel, manosphere influencers, many of whom have converted to Islam but do not respect the mainstream Muslim community. There is even a space to address the homophobia and transphobia your brother is being exposed to because even thoug…

I think you are on the right track in taking a deradicalization approach. Have you connected with any former White supremacists in BC, they might actually be a worthwhile community to tap into. The leftist to redpill pipeline has similarities to the leftist to White supremacist pipeline. The Left itself in BC isn't a very functional or healthy model for community to begin with. So it's important to also recognize that and the ways those spaces themselves operated primed you for going redpill.

Thank you for sharing this. Did the bullying by girls focus on your appearance? That is often how girls bully people and it can trigger a lot of anxiety about your appearance. I was also bullied by girls in middle school and it made me leave school. It is a serious issue and it is important to explore how it has impacted your ability to socialize. It took me a very long time to become social again and it really depended on finding real good friends who I could learn to trust. You might want to f…

Just have a frank conversation with these friends about your situation. Because Reddit is going to fill your head with a lot of negativity and weird theories about men and women. It really just comes down to the fact that it's hard out there and we have less community to support us in matchmaking. Like traditionally, we wouldn't have been out here on our own like this. Most of the healthy relationships I've seen came via go-betweens, a friend worked out if two people liked each other beforehand …

There are other options for men and women to open up to then just their partners. The more experience you have opening up with friends can better prepare you for opening up with a partner.

This is why I highly recommend that OP talk to people, particularly men in actual relationships in real life to get advice because what you get on Reddit is often just socially isolated people talking to other socially isolated people. Not the best sources for real life advice. Do any of OP's female friends have boyfriends or brothers who are decent people you get along with? Could you try to befriend them? Most people who I've seen get into healthy relationships were supported by friends for th…

The man in this scenario needs to break up. This isn't a healthy relationship.

Again have you discussed this with any of your female friends? They could give their opinion.

But have you had a frank conversation with any of your female friends about getting help with dating? Communication might help

You don't need a mental health issue to go to therapy. But if you are afraid your issues are going to overwhelm your partner then you might need to work it out in therapy. Doesn't matter if you are a man or a woman.

If she is bursting into tears I would definitely recommend therapy?

Personally I think both this online misandry and misogyny is coming from too much social isolation where people are only interacting with the opposite sex in the context of sexuality. But if you are part of families and communities you care about men and women in different ways. You see boys and girls grow up. You wouldn't want to say these misogynistic things to girls in your family just like you wouldn't want to say misandrist things to boys in your family. People need to go outside and volunt…

The woman was denying that a man was abused by a woman. Most women in the real world know women can be abusive because some of us had abusive moms. Anyone who denies that a man can be abused by a woman clearly doesn't know much about the reality of child abuse. If the man in this scenario is afraid of leaving then he needs to reach out for them to friends, family, a helpline

So are you saying this partner is threatening to blackmail you so you don't break up? That's totally abusive! If someone is only staying in a relationship because they are worried about being blackmailed they are staying in an abusive relationship.

That sounds like a really mentally unstable woman who needs to get professional help. She shouldn't expect her partner or her children to put up with this.

The therapist can help you become emotionally open in a healthy way. Women go to therapy for the same reasons. Some of this stuff isn't a men vs women issue it's just mental health issues which both men and women have.

But don't you have friends? A lot of this stuff you work out through friendships. If a man or a woman is being an emotional mess I wonder if they have friends then I recommend a therapist. Because some things need to be worked out with professionals before you can share them with a romantic partner.

I do see men with close male friends making better decisions in terms of romantic relationships. Frankly I think this is for a few reasons. 1. Less loneliness 2. People to talk to about their life experiences so you can work out your feelings about them. Good friends help you figure yourself out. This is also true for women. If you don't really know yourself well you risk choosing the wrong partner or hurting a good partner.

Thank you for sharing your situation. Honestly this experience sounds pretty traumatic and it totally makes sense why you feel messed up over it. I think part of the problem is that dating brings out the worst in both men and women because it involves so much vulnerability. So it can make us behave cruelly to one another. Part of the problem is that some of us women have been taught to avoid men who are not very experienced in relationships because we have been told these men may act immaturely …

How do these Red Pill scientists explain women releasing oxytocin at orgasm...same chemical release when giving birth, breastfeeding, etc. We are biologically releasing a chemical to make us feel attached to our lovers on the same level as our children? This science approach re love is so strange....I am used to the other ideas but this one is the strangest. We as human being are meant to be attached. I think the problem we are seeing is both men and women are being told to be selfish and indivi…

Thank you for bringing this up. I have never said this to a man but I have to admit that I had to unlearn a lot of toxic ideas about men that I had been raised with that were put in my head by both men and women. If a woman actually has male family members they are close to or has male friends we realize that men's real life sexual activity isn't really that different than women's it is just that men get more pressure from men but also women to PROOVE they are heterosexual men through sexual act…
