I often have mixed feelings about this sort of thing. On the one hand, it's pretty obvious that the various court systems are far more lenient with women. At the same time, mental illness is a real thing that exists, and each case must be judged independently on its merits, so who knows.

Once again, I don't think this argument holds water. Children are often subjected to permanent procedures with or without their consent, when it is medically necessary. The real objection to circumcision is that it is not medically necessary. The obvious implication is then that - as with any purely cosmetic procedure - it should wait until they are adults and can decide for themselves, as you say.

I've always found the "without his consent" argument against circumcision to be a poor one. Children cannot generally make their own decisions. We (correctly) do things to children without their consent all the time and no one bats an eye. What if a child wanted to refuse life-saving surgery?
