In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is a process by which an egg is fertilised by sperm outside the body: in vitro ("in glass"). Thank you for putting this information out there. It always amazes me at how little men know about child support laws.

When I talk to men who agree with the current child support laws, which there are unfortunately too many, I like to point out that there is a possibility that they are already on the hook for tens of thousands of dollars in child support. There are thousands of cases across America where a woman has wrongly claimed a man as the father of the child, DSHS sends out the notice, the man never gets it for one reason or another, the court rules he is the father without his knowledge, and child support accrues without his knowledge. I have seen many instances of a man finding out after a couple of years that he is behind on child support for a child that is not even his and that he was not aware a claim had ever been made.

Back due child support, thanks to the draconian Bradley Amendment, is damn near impossible to get altered. Even if the man was never made aware of the claim on a child that was not his. The back due child support usually reaches into the tens of thousands of dollars in cases like this.

Bradley Amendment:

In United States law, the Bradley Amendment (1986, Public law 99-509, 42 U.S.C. § 666(a)(9)(c), Bill Bradley) requires state courts to prohibit retroactive reduction of child support obligations. Specifically, it:

automatically triggers a non-expiring lien whenever child support becomes past-due.

overrides any state's statute of limitations.

disallows any judicial discretion, even from bankruptcy judges.

requires that the payment amounts be maintained without regard for the physical capability of the person owing child support (the obligor) to promptly document changed circumstances or regard for his awareness of the need to make the notification.

But, like any other past-due debt, the obligee, typically a mother, may forgive what is owed to her.

When past-due child support is owed to a state as a result of welfare paid out, the state is free to forgive some or all of it under what's known as an "offer in compromise".

I hate to disagree with you but this has been happening for decades. Unfortunately, as far as I know, there is no such thing as a bigshot lawyer who cares about equal rights for men. Any lawyer who advocates for men's rights would be lynched. The system and society is totally geared towards protection of women. Anyone who goes against it gets crushed.

If you would like to do an interesting study to prove how prevalent false claims of child support are and how damaging it is, put in a Google alert for terms such as "false child support" or "Bradley amendment".

I have been involved in the Men's Rights Movement for over a decade and I am constantly amazed at how little the general public knows of the way men are treated. This is but one example. When I point out cases such as this everyone agrees that it is wrong. However, because nobody ever thinks it will happen to them or they think that someone else will solve the problem or they think this is a minor glitch in the system, it is usually never followed up on with action.

There is not going to be a savior that comes from heaven to save us. There are no groups of lawyers ready to champion for us. There are no politicians that will even get near this issue with a ten foot pole. We have to force it down people's throats ourselves.

No, it is not extreme. It's weighing risk and preventing risk. If you do not befriend, date, marry or buy anything for them, they don't have your name to put on a piece of paper and lie about you.

I do not believe she did not know the consequences. I believe she knew full well the consequences and did it anyway so she could get State welfare/ She admitted it in the video. She said she had no choice but to put his name down. She said, "I had to put his name down as the father. It's the only way I could get assistance." And even if she didn't know, ignorance is no excuse. Why the fuck else would you have to put a mans name down? If she didn't know, someone that stupid should not be allowed to live outside of an asylym, because they are a danger to themselves and others.

She lied. Intentionally. It's her fault. Just because the law allows immoral behavior, it's the women who make the choices and should be ultimately responsible and accountable for them.

Yes, definitely, it's not at all the fault of the law that someone can simply write a name down and then the person who bears that name will have to deal with the consequences. /s

We could say the same bullshit things about violence. If you never interact with other people, they won't be able to abuse you. But that's absurd.

The blame here should primarily be placed on the law that allows someone to write down a name at random and as a result ruin their life. That's a completely unjust law and it should be changed. If the law didn't allow for this, what this woman did wouldn't have any impact.

Furthermore, I sincerely doubt she knew the full consequences of her actions. She didn't seem to want to screw this guy, he doesn't think she was trying to screw him, and given the economic demographic of the people involved, I find it highly unlikely that she knew the full consequences of writing his name down. Of course she's partly at fault, and if anything, the state should be going after her, not this guy, but the law is the real problem.

I'm not giving anyone a pussy pass. If this were a man in a similar situation I would make the same assumptions. I don't think that this woman knew what would come of this and while I think she was thoughtless and what she did was wrong and selfish, I don't think she was being malicious.

If I thought she was being malicious I would give her equal blame to that of the law that allows it to happen. I don't think this was malicious. I think this was a low income woman with very little education who didn't know the impact of signing that name. She did it selfishly, but that's not malice.

Would you know? I wouldn't. I wouldn't do it, but if I did I can assure you I wouldn't assume the state could just steamroll over the guy and jail him even if I went and cleared up the fact that he wasn't the father.

I would view any action differently based on intent regardless of gender. The courts also do this. Intent is very important when assessing someone's actions. That's not an unreasonable approach. It's the reason we have different charges for murder based on intent. To ignore intent altogether is ridiculous.

And you're going out of your way here to condemn this woman, who isn't asking for this guy to be jailed, and has informed the courts of what she did in order to attempt to correct the whole issue. In other words, her intent was never to cause this man any harm. And you're calling her a cunt and accusing her of all sorts of things she never actually did or intended to do. The state has done these things as a result of her writing down a name.

If you unfairly condemned a man with a similar background under the same circumstances my response would be exactly the same.

Judges do not make the guilty innocent because of intent. Only the harshness of their sentence imposed.

The judge does not change the ruling on a civil suit based on intent. Only the harshness of the financial penalty imposed.

She did this. No one else. The State only allowed her to do it. If her lazy ass didn't lie about him for free money, food, housing and medical care, the man wouldn't be in this predicament.
