Can you imagine if it was the other way around? The CDC explicitly correlates self-harm to attempted suicide, without regard for the actual intent, so that statistic is diluted. So when somebody talks about women attempting suicide more often, they're referring to a statistic which includes self-harm without intent to kill oneself. Edit: CDC apparently changed their site and it now mentions "with an intent to die". I don't know how or if they determine that though. | /r/MensRights | 19/02/17 02:40 AM |

Fantastic advice any time you want somebody to hang themselves. Most people love hearing themselves talk, so if you're silent they'll fill in the empty space. Furthermore, you're not making any sort of liability for yourself by potentially saying something incriminating, nor can you be accused of setting them up - you're silent! It's not that hard to understand. Take any movement in the world that blames society's ills on somebody else and you've got the makings of hate. Othering is as old as humanity itself. | 1 | Laws to protect men from paying child support for children that aren't theirs is now "slut shaming" and "punishing women"They completely lack empathy. Access to abortion is one of the things I agree with the feminists on: women should have the choice whether or not to be a parent. It's doubly important for women, because they have to carry it. But men should have a choice too. This way, parental fraud can be compared to denying women access to abortions. By naming the wrong man as the father, you're denying two men the choice to be a parent by forcing it on one and denying it to another. | /r/MensRights | 02/09/16 08:37 PM |

Mandating somebody seek a higher-paying job just because they could be making more seems to be incredibly heavy-handed and against the concept of liberty. Sometimes people are content with their job. I find the same hubris is present when feminists claim that their movement is the only solution we need for men's issues. There certainly are several beliefs that I find abhorrent in feminism, but lest we forget, women have legitimate issues that need to be addressed in society, and we aren't the answer to women's issue… | /r/MensRights | 11/06/14 01:13 AM |

As a community, we NEED to proaI think denouncing ICP would be rather easy. | 1 | Guardian newspaper SO sorry for mistakenly calling FGM "circumcision". But as always, they have to throw in: "...which has very little in common with male circumcision".I think it's a little of all of those reasons. I'm not sure if it's just because I have a shred of belief that most people are decent or what, but I like to think it's mostly because there is a lot of misinformation on this topic out there. Even here, sometimes when circumcision is brought up, I have seen a man chime in that he's fine with the state of his circumcision and he doesn't see what the big deal is, or that it's for cleanliness, or STD prevention, etc. Even among men affected, they don… | /r/MensRights | 02/06/14 01:21 AM |

I fully agree with your assessment, and I understand what you're saying - that bullying can lead otherwise ordinary people to lash out - but I can't help but feel you'll have a very difficult time gaining traction for this idea by using this angle. | /r/MensRights | 28/05/14 02:26 AM |

| 2 | Why in hell is /Mensrights in the Wikipedia "Controversial SReddits" and not SRS, AgainstMensRights, Picsofdeadkids, ETC?Someone who is more adept at Wikipedia should nominate the entire page for deletion. I agree we're controversial, but I think a fight to have a fair disclosure of what this subreddit is would be impossible on Wikipedia. The #1 reason we're controversial is because our movement is so at odds with feminism, but this is not discussed. The biggest violation, and the one I think would be met with the most success, is that the page is simply not notable enough to be included on Wikipedia. | 10 | "You go, girl! Great argument!" as a conversation between two women, as requested.I really have no issue with feminists only working for the advancement of women. The issues stem from the bullshit claims they make that feminism is a solution to men's problems, their attacks against the existence of a men's movement, and their tendency to view solutions to problems as a zero-sum game: gains they make frequently are proposed without regard for the rights of others, including men. | 7 | Have women been oppressed for thousands of years? This has always been my opinion as well - while it's true that most of the world's rulers throughout history were men, their numbers are so few that you can't say men as a whole oppressed women when the fact is that both genders had very few rights. It's always been more of a case of class and wealth. Some would argue it is still this way today. | /r/MensRights | 15/05/14 12:16 AM |
| 6 | A senior engineering student and RA from my alma mater is being expelled and deported from the US after his ex-fiancé accuses him of over sixty separate rape charges. He was not allowed to defend himself or present any evidence at his trial.Except in this case, the situation is shady as fuck and the person you're replying to should have put it in "quotes" because of the entirely unsubstantiated accusation. For those of us who have heard many stories like this - where a situation changes and somebody cries rape retroactively - we know what he meant. I can imagine it: They were dating, had consensual sex, and after awhile broke up. She got angry, and reported him for rape after the fact. Now if you think that assumption is outrageous… | /r/MensRights | 14/05/14 08:16 AM |

This is not to imply this group shares the "oppression olympics" mentality that seems to pervade feminist circles, just that we see it as an issue that men face that deserves examining and correction. If I was a girl, I would still be waiting to hear a very compelling argument excusing this school's decision. It seems a little heavy-handed, and seems to put girls in a spot where they have to adjust because of other people's behavior. Boys, of course, can not control their impulses very well at an age where their hormones are running out of control. | 6 | "I laughed when I heard him scream"Circumcision is not medically necessary. You claim it has benefits; regardless of whether or not it does, the presence of a benefit in a medical procedure does not make it a necessary one. That's why it can be reduced to the question of whether or not it is your penis. It is primarily done for cosmetic or ritualistic reasons. Those should be decided by the person themselves when they're older, not anyone else. | /r/MensRights | 01/04/14 09:26 PM |

| 5 | "Women are better than men at enrolling in Obamacare"...young women indeed could get a good deal from the health care law...men, particularly young adults who were already purchasing insurance in the individual market, could face higher costs this year. This is a Men's Rights issue I could get behind. It's also an issue for the general populace since I think Obamacare is a pile of shit. Since the law requires that rates not account for gender, men are effectively subsidizing a portion of healthcare for women. While I don't think government mandated healthcare should charge women more than men, I also don't think it's fair for anybody to pay for anyone else's healthcare but their own. Guess which gender is excluded from participating? This is why I hate using analogies, I really should have known somebody would point out the obvious. I am already aware of the differences between men and women, and how they're different than a race. I'm not an idiot. I was not equating the two, and that's pretty much the point, because I was using what is called an "analogy". | 4 | My university is holding a free self-defense course for students. Guess which gender is excluded from participating?I have no problem with teaching women self-defense. I think it's a fantastic program and a great idea. I have a problem with excluding men from the program, or not having a separate program for men. There's really no advantage to excluding men. The majority of violence is directed at men. It would be like holding a self-defense course for whites only for prevention of mugging and armed robbery. | /r/MensRights | 21/03/14 09:23 PM |

| 5 | I'm actually surprised at how Jezebel readers have been reacting to the SNL skit.As a Libertarian: don't make the mistake of equating wanting it shut down and not wanting it publicly funded. I don't want them shut down, I just don't think it's the job of government to provide for that. Also don't mistake it for being a men's rights issue, because it's not; it's about smaller government.
