comic sans has its place. it is for kindergarten after all.
/r/MensRights18/11/15 03:58 PM

She's a bad teacher and poorly educated. If you want all children to play with all toys, you create 'centers' and have center time. A crayon area, a doll area, and a block area. Then you divide up the class and rotate the children through the centers giving equal time at each. That's not only equality, it is STANDARD PRACTICE. And has been for years. If her only 'creative' solution is to BAN one gender from playing with a certain toy, then she is not a qualified teacher by any standard. Edit: So…

They aren't saying supporting marriage equality makes you sexist, they are saying supporting marriage equality AND not supporting feminisim makes you a hypocrite (and a sexist one at that!) They are wrong on both accounts. And this doesn't have anything to do with this sub.

OP didn't answer the question at all. How can't you see that? If all you think I did was duplicate OPs answer with more words, you've missed the point. I'm sorry, I can't explain it any clearer. We all have limits.
/r/MensRights01/07/15 09:56 PM

Why does everyone think I said we have to wait? or that we should wait? I've said no such thing. I've said that it'll take us being on the bottom rung before anyone else gives a shit.

Because the question wasn't where men are being oppressed. It was where Men belong in the movement for equality. There is a difference between those two things. Did you see in my 'answer' that I actually still touched on male circumcision? but did so in context and I made it relevant to the question asked and my answer?

Would that be brigading? Because if not, I'd do it. Not everyone would be receptive. Do you deny that anti-male slurs and attitudes rampant in the thread the OP made her comment in? I didn't search it out. I usually don't respond on these types of MR threads. What did OP expect? I also am tired of seeing the "I got banned by /r/Feminism for posting truth!!1!" threads. No shit? you went to another sub and got kicked for not following their rules? color me surprised. She very clearly called them o…

Just a note: I didn't say there was justification. I'm only pointing out the reality of the situation. Men will have to be on the bottom rung, as seen by everyone, before anything will be done about it. I agree it's crap, but I believe it is the truth.

It's a generalization, but I've found that women who aren't in a happy relationship can't stand the thought of another woman in a happy relationship.

I'm just being honest. Doesn't mean I can't hope or act different from what I believe to be true. We change the minds of 1 person at a time, but OP fucked that up and instead of changing minds, they reinforced a negative view of Men and Men's rights. What OP did was derail the conversation. OP had a great chance to give a good answer, and instead they changed the topic. Give an answer, give a GOOD answer to help other see that we're not all red-pillers. Where do men belong? My doctor was an asshole, but he was a good doctor. I trust him. Then I needed a physical and a different doctor was available, she is nice and also a good doctor, so I switched. Attitude is a plus, but what matters most is trust.

Yep. Not to mention all the people already taking pictures with point and shoot cameras with a lot more zoom than I have. My camera was big and scary, just like me I guess. Had a cop approach me once (out on the street) while I was taking photos, but instead of accusing me of anything, just talked with me about my camera, what I liked about it, what type of photos I like to take. It was really pleasant. He was checking me out, but not doing it in a accusatory kind of way. We talked and everyone …

I believe most 'false' allegations are ignored by the police to begin with. I put it in quotes because the cops are making the decision to not file a report if they don't think it is true. Maybe they should start filing all reports on every rape reported. Then letting the prosecutor sort them out and we can start getting real numbers on 'false' rape accusations. main stream Feminists cite low numbers of false rape accusations because they don't take into account the false rapes accusations that …

As a father I've gotten dirty looks and had people question me, but it was worse before I had children of my own. I once went to my niece's soccer game at my sisters asking, to take photos of her playing. She was 7 I think. Anywho, there are parents there snapping away from the sidelines with their cameras, no big deal. Then I, a lone male in his early 30s with a giant 'professional' camera and long lens shows up and starts snapping photos. Not that I needed to be, but I focused on my niece and …

I'd still call the cops. I'd get a police report, I'd also report the incident. Beyond that though, and this is monday morning quarterbacking/hindsight, if someone winds up to hit my kid they'll be picking themselves up off the pavement and I'll call the cops. If a parent followed me home from an incident and became at all 'upset' I would start by locking my door and calling the cops. It is their job to deal with crazy. And that's the problem with the UN support of the idea. They are saying either: Women don't write as well so they need special help to be published and FORCED on the public. This will not make the public buy more books from female authors. Publishers hate women so much that they mostly print books written by men and ignore women writers even to the point of throwing money away. Publishers are not interested in profit it would appear. Actually I've seen this cause an uproar, kinda. A garage/gas station I know has 2 bathrooms. One is inside and heated, that's the men's. One has its door on the outside, requires a key, and is heated just enough so the pipes don't freeze in the winter. Only men work there. 90+% of customers are men. Women can use the bathroom inside, but it's the mechanics bathroom so take that as you will. I've watched women use it with no complaint (the employees don't care) but it says "men" on the door and s…

It is based on the same root language for the same reason. It isn't 'totally' made up. I'm not saying you have to use it, only that it has a meaning that does make sense. Trans-gender isn't made up any more than any other spoken word.
/r/MensRights20/05/15 08:19 PM
9

Cis is not a made up term. It is derived from latin just as trans- was. Cisgender has its origin in the Latin-derived prefix cis-, meaning "on this side of", which is an antonym for the Latin-derived prefix trans-, meaning "across from" or "on the other side of". This usage can be seen in the cis–trans distinction in chemistry, the cis–trans or complementation test in genetics, in Ciscaucasia (from the Russian perspective) and in the ancient Roman term Cisalpine Gaul (i.e., "Gaul on this side of…

I got the impression that the surrogates egg was used and she is the genetic mother. If the child dies before delivery, do the purchasers still pay? Because if it is a service they should. If it is a product, then I imagine they want a baby. Again, just a thought exercise.
/r/MensRights06/05/15 03:02 AM

If the kid dies before delivery do they still pay?
/r/MensRights06/05/15 03:00 AM

Explain how it isn't. Or how it couldn't be. Ethically, what she (the birth mother) did was wrong IMO. And I agree with the judge's decision, but the more I think about it, what is the difference between being a surrogate for a specific set of 'parents to be' and just anyone? It's selling a child, a human being. Right? Does it matter who 'it' is sold to? What if the buying parents didn't want to buy the child at the end of the birth? Could the birth mother have sold the child to someone else? Do…
/r/MensRights05/05/15 09:45 PM

It sounds less like a breach of contract and more like the mother was seen as unfit, so the child was placed in the custody of the father. 'I have little doubt that that is what (the woman) set out to do, at least in part, and it was an action which was contrary to (the girl's) best interests and emotional well-being.' [said the judge] Basically the judge said the woman was an unfit parent. Had the parent been fit, would the judge have awarded custody in part or full to the father?
/r/MensRights05/05/15 09:16 PM

But that's kinda like 'selling children' then, so isn't that human trafficking? I mean, really, what's the difference between birthing children for sale or buying and selling someone else's children for profit?
/r/MensRights05/05/15 09:08 PM
5

Exactly. If you claim the kid as a dependent, THATs why you are responsible. It doesn't have to do with marriage directly. This is probably the parent who claimed you as a dependent on their tax return. The language is gender neutral.

Wait a second, how do you define a barbarian if not by their barbaric action? I'm not saying my parents are barbarians, but if they did something barbaric then they would be, in fact, barbarians. (Do not read that five times fast) Oddly enough I don't think circumcision in 1970s american would be defined as barbaric at that time. I think in another hundred years (hopefully less) we will consider it barbaric world wide. Ancient I'll agree with.

Have you ever had surgery? Eye surgeries are the only one that I know of that have near 0 pain the day after. Or did you keep your kid on morphine for a week? This will be my final response. By your logic, one can't "know" anything. This debate isn't going to go there. This isn't about me lying to myself as much as you want that, as much as you need that. You can't accept that maybe, just maybe, there is a hospital that does the procedure in a completely controlled safe environment while caring for the patient and practicing pain management. You want them to hate the child. Surgery does not equal pain. If it does for you I suggest you seek out a better care facility. I'll take all t…

You were not there. I was. I've spent 8 years with him since. I think I'm fit to describe what I saw and how he reacted. What my son experienced is not what everyone in the world experiences nor even the US. But that is my point. If you use the method they use on boys in Africa where they tie a string around the for skin and hack it off with a knife then rub dirt on it to stop the bleeding, people recognize how wrong that is. But they say, "it doesn't have to be painful". I say my son's wasn't p…

Thank you. Your response is my answer. There are ways to do this that are violent and painful. The way they do it in some tribes in Africa (google it if you have a strong stomach) are horrible. But pain isn't the reason this needs to be stopped. Body autonomy is.

Yes, I have watched a normal circumcision. My son's before I knew it was wrong. It was very non-violent. I've written about it in other comments today. That video is 18 minutes long. I think the whole procedure took about 5 minutes and was considerably less messy. My child did not cry, they sucked on a nipple with sugar water in it. What I'm saying is that if you use the idea of violence to convince people they can argue that it isn't violent so it should continue. It shouldn't continue because …

I appreciate what you wrote, and I can see that view point. I have a choice to 'call it as I see it' or win people over to the cause. I choose the latter. I'd assume the term was used assuming that most MRAs are like minded on the topic. It could be. But I thought it worth commenting because I've run into so many that don't. They are the 'call it what it is' people. They have their place, but not always on the front line.

I've seen some performed via video that I would agree are violent. What I witnessed on my own son wasn't violent. Edit: not saying that you were trying to justify it (you weren't) but many others do. Thanks for the edit!

Valid question. Because I live in a VERY christian area, it was how I was raised, and it never crossed my mind that it was wrong. It was more than 8 years ago. I've since discovered this forum. We all make mistakes. We have to own up to them though when we find out about them.

This is kinda tangical to what you said and I'm not saying you are accusing anyone of anything, but it is still something I wanted to share: When you tell people that have had the procedure done that they've mutilated someone you aren't going to convince them. I'm proud you made the choice you made. I'm not happy with the choice I made, or the choice my parents made, But I'm not 'mutilated'. From google: inflict a violent and disfiguring injury on. IIRC the main study that "proved" the link with HIV didn't control for condom usage at all. They studied men in two different tribes, 1 used condoms and were circumcised, the other didn't use condoms and were intact. So, DUH they're going to get more HIV if they aren't wearing condoms.

Edit: Way better (like, correct and stuff) answers below me. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shock_%28circulatory%29 Circulatory shock, commonly known as shock, is a life-threatening medical condition of low blood perfusion to tissues resulting in cellular injury and inadequate tissue function.[1][2] The typical signs of shock are low blood pressure, rapid heart rate, and signs of poor end-organ perfusion (i.e.: low urine output, confusion, or loss of consciousness). 8 days huh? my sons was done at night on day 2 I think, might have been night one, but I don't think so. I'm circumcised and I love my penis too. I think that some of the 'intactivists' go to far and forget that we don't have to hate ourselves or our parents. Would I change it if I could? Sure. But I'm not going to hold a grudge over it or get all mad. I think it is valid if someone wants to, but I don't think it should be a requirement. Are we mutilating little boys? Yes. /r/MensRights21/04/15 05:30 PM

Good point. In the case of my son, I don't believe he went into shock. He was very happily sucking on a nipple with sugar water. The method used was a plastic clamp and they numbed the area.
/r/MensRights21/04/15 02:44 PM

I do not recall. It might have been an injection. I don't believe it was just topical. They distracted him with sugar water.
/r/MensRights21/04/15 02:37 PM

This is the issue and only issue. I watched my son's circumcision and he had no problem. Didn't cry once. It can be medically safe AND pain free. But that doesn't make it right without consent. To all those that are happy being cut: so am I, I'm not mad at my parents, I'm not unhappy with my dick. But I now recognize we shouldn't wholesale cut off a part of anyone's body without their consent just because "that's the way it's always been done around here". It serves no purpose.

Depends on the order of questions and how the conversation flows.
/r/MensRights16/04/15 04:55 PM

From her statement When I was interviewed by Levo, they asked me “Do you remember a time you were paid less for the same job” and this story, being just that, popped into my head. To Al, I truly am sorry to bring you into this as you employ women and pay them the same as the men I’m sure. So the question wasn't wage gap, and her story fit actually. It's nice to see it in context.
/r/MensRights16/04/15 02:22 PM

If a woman paid for the meal, or offered to pay, that's a huge +1 toward date two happening IMO. But YMMV.
/r/MensRights13/04/15 12:23 PM

Perhaps you can try and keep up There are much nicer ways to say that. We're having a discussion here, not a competition. some The girls crying rape have just been proven to have been planning to frame him for rape. Fixed that for you. The rest are regarding underage sex, I'll let you stipulate that. which by all accounts was entirely voluntary and consensual. Citation needed. It COULD have been voluntary and consensual, it may not have been. And that's whey it goes to court.
/r/MensRights08/04/15 02:54 PM

In this case the evidence points to him threatening to kill them if they ever talk about it. it was before they came forward. We like to go on and on about false rape allegations, the unfairness of the court system, the extended punishments for men, but I would like to remind you that sometimes the accused IS in fact a rapist. I'm not saying this accused is one yet, but there is sufficient evidence for a trial. The court system may in fact be doing its job here.

No, he is in jail because they ask for no bail after they had evidence of him threatening to kill one of the accusers and blackmail others. There is a lot more to this story than just the title.

I agree, it could get pushed aside, but there is considerable media outraged about this and I'm hopeful. This is one of their own and even though some see it as 'for the right cause' a lot of others are saying the same thing you are, 'Why hasn't anyone been fired yet?'. Hell, look at how the media treated Brian Williams and Dan Rather. you'd think that they were all in favor of the death penalty again. In the end, she will be (or resigned). No. This isn't a 'failure of the system'. It is quite clearly, AND ADMITTED, "failure to use the system already in place". Why? Because they had an agenda. They bypassed all of their safety mechanisms because of their believe in their agenda. That has now bit them in the ass. HARD. They are now entering into a time of introspection into how to do this right in the future. What this will mean is more fair reporting from RS as a whole. They said themselves, there were already prosecuted cases that…

The difference here is she didn't purposefully lie so much as she was trusting and wrong. She didn't fabricate the story knowing it was wrong just to prove a point, she put her trust in someone and she should not have. She let her guard down. Is her career over? If I was the one in charge it would be. This is a HUGE error, and yet that makes her the scapegoat alone. This is a compound error involving many people. To sexual assault experts, “false reporting” is frequently recognized not as an indication that the victim is lying about being raped, but that she may be changing the circumstances of her attack in an effort to make her story more empathetic in a culture that largely disbelieves victims. Maybe they didn't see the coverage by rolling Stone of Jackie's alleged rape. People certainly believed her. However the words "trust, but verify" come to mind when you publicly accuse someone as Rolling Stone …

You take that out of context. They say the system broke down not because the system was bad, but because they didn't follow the system. The article proves that. If these people had done their job this would never have been published.

The mrm has been saying exactly this though, we as a group are not happy with the standards of performance they should be held to. This IS a timely piece of journalism, but it got all of its facts wrong and reached the wrong conclusion. I think a lot of good will come of this. This post mortem builds on the Harvard rejection by its faculty of their own lack of due process.
/r/MensRights06/04/15 01:24 AM

Just finished reading the entire piece. God damned is that some fine analysis. It is a long piece, but well worth the read. What strikes me, is that they take responsibility without exception. They didn't hide behind Jackie or "conventional wisdom". In fact, they blame their reliance on conventional wisdom (that rape happens all the time and that no one would ever lie about it to this extent) and preconceived ideas. They cover step by step how they failed. They cover step by step what they could…

Rethorical no. And sorry for my response. I was reading into the first paragraph of what you wrote too much thinking you were saying something you didn't. Just look at some of the comments on the news articles about this.

Yes we complain about the inequality. But if we call for accurate lighter sentencing for men equal to what women get, then we are rape apologists who only want to let men off the hook. No. The way to fix this is to call for equal sentencing based on the current case law. THEN we can work together to lower sentencing for everyone to appropriate levels.
/r/MensRights19/03/15 12:59 AM

In practice though, if you ask for lighter sentences on men then you are a rape apologist. If you ask for equal sentencing, then you are for equality. Then everyone together can ask for fairer sentencing.

No. That is what people use it to do, but if you look at what they "say" it is and what it was founded on what I said is closer to the truth. Feminism wasn't about getting the woman out of the house to work a 40 hour work week. It was about seeing the feminine roll as valid. Not having your opinion discounted or being discriminated against because you were a house wife or wore a skirt. I'm not saying it isn't corrupt, I'm just differentiating the two. /r/MensRights26/01/15 01:50 AM

Feminism is about accepting feminine behavior as normal and accepted for either gender. Someone wants to wear a skirt or be a stay at home parent? Well that should be just as valid as wearing pants or working construction. Feminism was about allowing either gender be and act feminine without negative repercussions. Women's rights fought/fights for equal rights for women. Many people lump both types of people into "Feminists". But to say that these people want the same things as MRAs isn't true. …

My answer wasn't meant to be specific about this article. I believe that an author could write something about taxes or healthcare, and it might be relevant here for a different reason entirely. It might not be obvious to someone visiting this sub for the first time. Have you never had to explain your position to someone new to Men's Rights before? Thanks for the condescending tone. Why not be civil? It is just as easy. Edit: are you referring to where I said the bit about positive votes? That w…

Sometimes the intent of the author doesn't matter and it is still an issue for men's rights. That is why I think the OP should just state why it is related. Looks like you are back to positive votes now!

This question should never be down voted in this sub. I'm sorry people don't realize that this is a valid question specifically on a more obscure edge of MRs. When I was new to the sub, a lot of what was posted here didn't make sense to me. I have argued that there should be a rule requiring OP to make a comment answering this question every on every post.

Yep. The software, bit torrent, isn't sexist on its own. But because men use it more, then advertisers trying to reach a male audience place ads there. Some of the ads might be sexist, but then isn't that violence against men by continuing a stereotype of what "all men" must like? /s The truth is, the advertising doesn't make the software sexist. The content of the advertisements night make the advertising sexist. But that isn't the users fault! Seriously, you can expect anyone to solicit for ad…

I can get on board with that. BUT how do you know it was consensual? Can you write out a rule that says how a third party knows it was consensual and not influenced by the power dynamic? when should we believe a girl? when should we believe a boy? Sex is so cool and awesome! I love sex! But there are some people that can't have sex with other certain people at certain times. That's just how it works right now. You can think that all you want. But this was a teacher and the victim was a student. Remove gender from the issue and it is still statutory rape.
/r/MensRights30/10/14 03:43 PM

No, you have to admit that it is statutory rape. and you have to do this for several reasons: We can't advocate for inequality of the genders. So we have to advocate equally. If we advocate that this isn't rape because she consented, then we have to advocate the same when the genders are reversed. If we do that, then we are perpetuating the rape culture. By agreeing with the feminists that this is rape, we are setting up the entire system for failure later when they come to terms with the idea t…

holy balls! They equate 'gender gap' with best countries for women as the only measure! Let's just pretend for a minute that the Gender Gap(r) was real. I would NEVER want to be a woman in Nicaragua(6) Rwanda(7) or the Philippines(9). Hell, I'd choose being a woman in America before I'd choose to be a MAN in those three countries.
/r/MensRights28/10/14 09:21 PM

Counterpoint: I thought it did a wonderful tongue-in-cheek job of pointing out how over the top some feminists are. There are lots of people (mostly women, but i don't think it matters) who actually feel this way. They like some ideals of 'feminism' but don't identify with what some self-proclaimed 'feminists' do or how they act. They don't want to be a man hater, so they don't identify as a feminist. Just a different view. BTW, got a source for the Rwanda thing?

Alright. I've done more reading on it. I think you have me changing my opinion. It seems to me after thezoepost was published some "people" put together the timeline of who did what for Zoe and her sexual activities. It appears now that they were wrong. Zoe is an asshole, but she may not have done this for special treatment, and doesn't appear to have received special treatment. This was all intensified by the black hole of coverage from the gaming press, specifically at the places Zoe's partner…

All of that is in agreement with what I wrote. The threat is an attempt to control. It does not necessarily follow that the actual act is also an attempt to control. Ah. I see what you mean. Not sure if I agree though.
/r/MensRights17/10/14 09:33 PM
1

This doesn't follow since rape threats are seldom ever serious threats to commit actual rape. How often do you think an actual rapist "threatens" their victim before committing rape. I'd be surprised if the rate of that is much above 0%. Thus, I see very little connection between "rape threats" and the actual act of rape. True, but the same could be said for threatening to beat someone up, or physically harm another. I'd think you agree that when people make those threats, they are doing so to c…

The rape threats that feminists and similar groups get are all by anonymous trolls on the internet. These people have absolutely no intention of actually raping anyone. I don't believe that intention to act matters. The threat matters. The threat is a threat because it would be violent in that context. If they followed through on the rape, it would be to punish and control as steph said. It isn't an effective threat to 'lapse your self control'. Sadly, it looks like people see what I'm saying as…

Yeah, it's fucked up. Like I get it, but it's still fucked up. The rationale behind it is using sex and affection as an emotional weapon. I, personally, need affection from my wife. It sustains me. If I don't get it, I (can) feel emotionally hurt. But I wouldn't go so far as it being called 'sexual violence'. And while I could easily see it being called emotional abuse, withholding it as punishment until you get your way, I wouldn't charge that person with a crime. I might tell their SO to leave…

It is a huge stretch but I think it comes from this definition Sexual violence: Examples of sexual violence include: discounting the partner's feelings regarding sex; criticizing the partner sexually; touching the partner sexually in inappropriate and uncomfortable ways; withholding sex and affection; always demanding sex; forcing partner to strip as a form of humiliation (maybe in front of children), to witness sexual acts, to participate in uncomfortable sex or sex after an episode of violence…

The original goal of feminism as I understand it wasn't a gendered issue at all but simply to make it o.k. and as valid to be and act feminine as it is to be and act masculine. That wearing skirts was just as valid as pants. That being a stay at home parent was as valid as working. That being feminine wasn't a reason to discriminate against you. It made no difference what gender you are, only the traits you espoused. But that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

I've got a degree in communication with an emphasis in print journalism. The standard ways of reporting things are damn near sacred. "It is the way it has always been done" is a mantra you hear all the time. Style guides beat it in to you. This wasn't the equivalent of Martin Luther nailing a document on the door, but it was acknowledgement that their there was something worth looking at and it bears further watching. This conference is going to cover topics that affect men and boys. I would assume topics such as suicide, homelessness, domestic violence, circumcision (body integrity), rape culture and other important issues. I have read time and again how feminism solves all of these problems, how if we were to just work with feminists to destroy the patriarchy, we could end the cycle. Sounds to me like we are holding, by their definition, a conference on topics that feminists are solving. You'd think more fe…

The CDC survey went OUT OF THEIR WAY to classify made to penetrate as not-rape, on the advice of Mary P Koss, a known feminist. [Citation needed] Hell, I'm just sitting here glad that they recognized made-to-penetrate is a crime to begin with!
/r/MensRights27/05/14 12:39 AM

I absolutely agree that the current mainstream movements are pointed in that direction. They are mostly a voice for women's rights now. They have confused the issue and then wonder why men don't flock en masse to "feminism".
/r/MensRights26/05/14 09:39 PM

Closest we have is the FBI. The CDC isn't going to use one states definition over another for a nation wide comparison. What then are they going to use? Why the FBI standard. Surprise surprise! When a state is formulating a new definition for rape what are they going to look at? The national definition from the FBI.

http://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/2012/January/12-ag-018.html "The new definition of rape is: “The penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim." So yeah, you know how the FBI defines rape in 2012. That seems legal enough for me. Not sure why you are pointing to a military code of justice that doesn't apply to the people being covered in the CDC report OP linked.

I'm saying the law has. I didn't say it was right how they defined it. But what fucking system of government do you want? One that works as a cohesive unit or one that ignors what all other branches and departments are doing? The CDC is using a legal nationally recognized and accepted FBI definition. If you want to free them of that requirement I assure you it will not go in the MRM preferred direction. Edit: because I wasn't being specific enough today.

I agree that the movement became corrupted. But just as I don't believe MRM should be lumpped in with TRP or PUA, I am not going to do so for feminism. Those comparisons are "women's rights" not feminism. A lot of people see feminism as making it o.k. for women to act masculine, that is simply not the case. It is a by product of the women's rights movement.

They are not the same thing. Feminism is a movement that says being feminine should be valued and respected and as o.k. as being masculine. It doesn't care about the gender of the person. It isn't concerned with masculine. It is not egalitarian. It wasn't meant to be. Many feminists are also involved in a woman's rights movement. Many feminists would identify with egalitarianism. But they are not the same thing. All things being equal, feminism, women's rights and the MRM should never be at odds…

Feminism to me, is a movement dedicated to making it as o.k. to be feminine as it is to be masculine. Often times this spills over into creating equal right and opportunities for women, already granted to men. To me, anyone that goes beyond that, special rights, man hating, female superiority, and others, are either radical feminists, extremist, assholes or all of the above. That doesn't make my definition right, but that would be mine since no one else answered. If I don't want people to lump R…

Which feminists? No we are not the same. Feminisms goal was to make it acceptable to be feminine. An extension of that is equal rights for women. MR is about making it o.k for a man to be feminine AND to undemonize being masculine. An extension of that is equal treatment of males and equal rights for men. Some results would satisfy us both, and we shouldn't really be in opposition, but we do things for different reasons.

If she nearly uses it as a backdrop I would aregue she needs permission. If she is using it as an example and discussing it I would argue that she is on the road to fair use, not as educational, but under critique. Like a movie review or a book review. You can use some passages from a book, or a scene or two from a movie in this same way and you can sell the review online or in a Newspaper. The caution is that you can't use the entire body of work.

This is all assuming the father and girl are telling the truth about the boy eventually 'reaching for something', which I'm not sure is the case. That could also be true. We just don't know from the limited coverage and reporting.

I'm sorry, but you could take your comment to mean if a rape victim doesn't scream then it was consensual. There are thousands of legitimate reasons someone wouldn't call out, specifically the threat of physical harm if they do.

If the story had said he came in and straight up shot the boy I would upvote you, but he didn't shoot just anyone having sex with his daughter. He shot a home intruder. He tried to clarify the situation, and then even only shot when he thought the boy was going for a weapon. That's a huge step forward.

Based on this one story you are drawing a TON of conclusions. Seriously read the article first. Use some common sense? I go to the room, (nowhere does it say how he found them, in bed or otherwise) I ask someone I trust, my daughter what's going on, she says he is a stranger. Excellent comparison. A well thought out strategy to make the sub, the largest MRM forum on the internet, more organized, accountable, and accessible to new comers, is homeopathy and the MRM is cancer. Nice. Homeopathy isn't a fix for anything, in fact I would say it hurts by giving false hope. My solution is way better than that. I think it is the term itself. Just because something is sexist doesn't mean it is woman hating. It could just be unfair. Call it institutionalized sexism and you'll have us on board. But using the term misandry makes it only the woman as the victim. There is no room for the discussion of sexism against men. Often sexisim that is institutionalized cuts both ways and is unfair to both sexes in some way.

I remember seeing that one of the reasons given for the ban was "sexual harassment" how the fuck do you get sexually harassed by a photo ? Well, because of stereotypes. I know women who don't feel comfortable walking into a room that has photos of nude (or even scantily clad) women on the walls. It is distracting, and they become defensive. They worry that the type of person that hands up that kind of photo is a 'pervert' and judging them only by their physical appearance. Twice I've walked into…

Not arrogant at all. It's a fact. If a woman decides, there will be no life. If a woman decides the life will be allowed to happen. The beginning of that 'life' in the theoretical sense is when the woman makes the decision what she is doing. This isn't some scientific post, I'm not arguing what science says or what studies say, I'm saying it doesn't matter what science or a scientist says. Actually, semantics are important, but what should be reworded is that the woman has the choice to make a pregnancy into a child if they decide to, or they can abort the pregnancy and it won't be a child. The female gender chooses when 'life' begins because they decide if there will be a life at all.

Once you start shooting, you have made the decision to kill, you go until the subject is down. This is not a defense of the shooting, but only why it was 10 shots and not 1 shot. People can walk/run through 1 bullet or 2, depending on placement 3 or more. You keep firing. 1 in the chamber, 9 in the magazine. Right because you totally don't pose a flight risk if you're being charged for murder in a state that still has the death penalty. Not that women frequently get that or anything. I don't think that she'll get the death penalty because it doesn't sound per-meditated. I'm not saying it was a 100% accident, but I don't think she took him up there to kill him either. I don't think that hazing should be used to 'weed' people out. That's what the test is for. Hazing can be used to bond people together going through the hazing together. I'll even go so far as to say that depending on how it is handled after (like showing that you all went through it and that they took it well) could help form a bond with those doing the hazing, as you are now 'in the club' so to speak. So it's unfair to women because the gates are too narrow which is good for obese men because . . .Patriarchy? If an average fit woman has hips that gives her a profile far larger than an obese man she would have trouble walking at all. At least upright. That struck me as odd too. I am not sure how a fat guy can make it through something if a woman is having a hard time with it. Unless she too was overweight.

So, nobody said anything to you? No body touched you or asked you a question? Sorry man but it sounds to me like they left you alone, just like they should have. I went to the park near my house today with my kids and it was the first time in a LONG time that there were other children there AND i didnt feel like i was being watched by the other parents. So what made today special? The other two parents were also fathers. It was a really nice day.

Swimming involves a lot of physical contact between team members I don't remember touching anyone in swim class. We did laps, and more laps. Why kind of 'swim' class were you in? I was however there, the fateful day that the boy's showers were broken and because of time constraints, we showered, with the girls in the girls locker room, separated, fully 'swim suited', and under the watchful eye of a male and female teacher. We became legends.

Statutory rape laws give minors complete immunity for repercussions for their actions when attempting sexual contact with adults. Yes. When it is 'their' actions at fault. And in this case we don't know who's actions were whose. But the fact remains, as a teacher, he knew better. It's not like he's being caught by some obscure law here. He didn't meet her in a bar. The decision is shitty. Yes. But there is a reason for the decision. From the Missoulian On Tuesday, Baugh stood by his comments that Morales was a troubled youth who was older than her age when it came to sexual matters. That didn’t make Rambold’s sex with Morales any less of a crime, he said. “Obviously, a 14-year-old can’t consent. I think that people have in mind that this was some violent, forcible, horrible rape,” Baugh said. “It was horrible enough as it is, just given her age, but it was…

So following that line of thinking, All men are rapists because they have a penis. I really can't see how those two things relate. It's a slippery slope. When is it o.k. to give someone consequences for actions that you don't know they committed. If one person says "Substaintial evidence is needed" what does that mean? Asking for fair punishment for men, while correct, is seen as rape culture, it is seen on making life easier for the privileged male class. Asking for equality in punishment, jailing women as if they were men, is equality and can easily be attacked by feminists with out looking weak. What this will take to fix is either for women to ask for lower sentences for males, of for tougher punishments for women that would then outrage the public and demand lower sentences for all.

To me the only answer is that under the current law, the wrongly jailed is compensated. That's it. IF the wrongly jailed is married, then the spouse benefits from the settlement. IF they divorce after that, then they may be entitled. But if they divorce before release? No payments. It has to start and stop somewhere. I believe that is with maybe not the only one who suffered, but the one who bears the brunt of it, and that IS the one who went to jail.

Ideally yes. But we don't live in an ideal world. She KNEW he was innocent and move on. Too bad. Even had she not moved on the only compensation that can come from the state must go to the jailed person, not the secondary injured parties. IMO.
/r/MensRights16/06/13 11:29 PM

Because the law that gives him compensation leaves her empty handed. I agree though, post divorce her issue is with the state, not her ex.
/r/MensRights16/06/13 11:26 PM

How far should compensation go? To the person wrongfully jailed? Sure. To the spouse or children? Eh. How about to the employer who loses a good employee? How about the church he used to donate too? How about the grocery store he used to frequent? Ripping someone out of the system has wide spread effects, but that ddoesn't.mean that everyone gets compensated.

So you take a book and turn it into a movie. Then you add a female character that wasn't there before. Now the trap is set. If men like her, then it is because they see her as a sexual object and the movie makers did this to exploit women. If men don't like her, then it is because she is female and inferior to men.

Within their rights. Sure. That doesn't mean it wasn't an injustice to the system. Saying a white person may be less likely might be true, but judging solely on physical attributes and not on merit is the injustice.

For a position whose target audience is diverse and needs to be included. A black person can't be any more diverse than a white person. A Japanese person can't be more diverse than a Russian. They are all the one person that they are. The injustice, although also to him, is really to the student body. They judged the candidate not on their merit but on their color, orientation AND gender. Exactly what this position is created to oppose. If they fill the position solely on gender race and orienta…

Is this an injustice? Yes! Yes it is! No, a "law" wasn't broken, but they judged him on his skin color, sexual orientation, and gender! They didn't judge him on his ability. This position is 100% about ability, not color race or gender. An injustice was done to the entire student body. And they just labeled all white hetero males as being unable to do this job. Shame on them.

Great question. If the person wasn't given a choice (like through a will or instructions they left) then it would depend on the state/condition they are in, and possibly the person making the decision and their interest involved in it. Examples: Brain dead, didn't leave a will or instructions, but the parents(or spouse) was o.k. with removing them from life support/ending feeding. I wouldn't consider this murder. IIRC the men have an absurdly high rate of alcoholism and suicide/accidental death. They are too 'proud' to work jobs that are beneath them. This is perpetuated by the elders and leadership of the tribe. I'm not saying that they didn't get shafted by the government a long ways back, but they aren't really trying to fix anything either. I think there is a decent argument for being upset with the last line in the poster 'support the boys'. That is asking for outright belief in their story. Likewise a poster that said 'support the girl' would equally be wrong. It should just be, 'reserve judgement, seek the truth, listen to both sides.' Patriarchy (rule by fathers) is a social system in which the male is the primary authority figure central to social organization and the central roles of political leadership, moral authority, and control of property, and where fathers hold authority over women and children. It implies the institutions of male rule and privilege, and entails female subordination. Many patriarchal societies are also patrilineal, meaning that property and title are inherited by the male lineage. The female equival…

This has problems. That is the truth of it. There are perception problems. There also is a naming problem. By calling it the patriarchy men haters see it as men causing the problem. That isn't the case. Women are just as culpable for the gender problems we all face.
/r/MensRights06/04/13 01:27 PM

If you can't understand your opponents arguments, you can never defeat them. The patriarchy is not some grand male plan to dominate women, it is the recognition that we(at least in america) live in a society where men are seen(rightly or wrongly) as in charge. This isn't to say everything favors men or that men are conspiring against females. It also doesn't mean that men are to blame. Just as many feminists are too quick to yell patriarchy, many MRAs on here are too quick to yell back that it d…

Feminists need to work where females are disadvantaged or discriminated. MRM should work where men are disadvantaged or discriminated. We can agree on things but our focuses should be different when it comes to the order of specific agenda items. Would the elimination of the patriarchy solve men's issues? Yes. But that is a damn long way off. The truth is they support some men's rights issues but they are NOT working on them.

There actually is a good reason to use full justification. While full justification does slow down the reader vs left justification, it comes off as more formal. And it was short enough that i didn't feel the slower time to read would hurt any. Firstly, consider changing "didn't" to "don't". I'm torn on this one. I see your point, but I'm looking at it as a past tense situation. Sure. I'll help stop the rape culture. Will you? Will you stop the culture that says all men are rapists? Will you stop the name calling? I'd love to stop hearing the words slut or tramp. But I also want to stop hearing all men called rapists. In her example, Steubenville, was the female who was raped the only one there, or were there other females that stood idly by and watched another person be raped? Why can't both genders speak out against rape? Can't both genders stop rape when they see it,…

I get you. I suppose it depends on how you react to their reaction. I think a lot of people mis-speak and don't mean it in a bad way but their might have been a way to convey the thought without offense. And of course people can take offense at something that I don't mean to be offensive and doesn't mean what they think it does. I'm of the party that says if two people are drinking and have consenual sex, then changing your mind when you are sober doesn't make it rape. But if you fuck someone who is unconscious, that's rape no matter how you slice it. Yes, I am aware that people are found guilty of crimes they didn't commit. You didn't read the part about beating him because he didn't want to have sex and she had her pants off in expectation of sex? That she followed him with no pants or underwear, again, in expectation of sex? Sounds like she was attempting to force him to sex against his will. That's attempted rape. She attempted to force him to penetrate her! That should be rape too, or called something that is just as punishable. Just because the penis is external shouldn't exclude the forced use of it from the definition of rape.

Right. It isn't the victims responsibility to say stop or no. Just like how if you are being robbed, you don't have to tell the criminal that you don't consent to being robbed. You don't have to say No or Stop or I don't agree. Handing over the money/wallet/purse/chicken is not giving consent to the robbery taking place. You haven't given up your rights by allowing yourself to be robbed.

I mean, by their line of thinking... you could be lying down, and a girl could be on top of you riding while yelling "no I don't want sex", and they think that would be rape. Yep. It's your job to save yourself from legal trouble and remove them from your penis. In a loving, caring, trusting relationship, this isn't or shouldn't be, a problem. But one night stands? New relationships? BIG problem.

As a boy I was taught that "No means No" Today they teach, "Only Yes means Yes" This is a HUGH shift in thinking. What I was taught is that absent a no, you can keep the mood going. Today that isn't good enough, that you need verbal consent for every action. I suppose if the girl in this case was a mute, you'd need to get her to sign out the word 'yes' to your question. (I'm not joking here) Their physical actions cannot be construed to be consent anymore.

The people in men's rights are fine. THIS thread is beyond fucked up though. I believe it has been comment and vote jacked.

A troll post does. She got it done before 6 weeks. Circumstances would need to be perfect for that to work out. The first two weeks don't count (if you are a mother or father you know what I.mean) then the missed period. Then scheduling the appointment, which where I live takes a week or three to get in. Then a week for the "hospital" test. She makes $10 an hour and is "young" and she's got great health coverage? This shit isn't adding up.
/r/MensRights17/02/13 02:15 PM
2

Come back and read the thread. It was a setup for another group of people to comment and vote-jack to make men's rights look horrible. The suggestions getting up voted are all about tricking her into an abortion and one suggestion of "hire a mugger to falcon punch her" that's not normal for this group.
/r/MensRights17/02/13 02:09 PM

10 hours ago I agreed with you, but after reading the shitty suggestions in this thread I am convinced its a troll and has been comment/vote jacked by another group. Reasonable voices are being down voted and "tricking her to abort" is being up voted. Along with one suggestion of hiring a mugger to falcon punch her. This thread is a fraud.
/r/MensRights17/02/13 02:07 PM

This is the most unusual thread I have read in mensrights. It HAS to be a plant and being comment jacked by some other group. This isn't the normal advice given here.

You are 100% right. And yet I say "don't do this" and I'm at -45 right now. Listen up folks: she isn't going to abort the meal ticket. She never wanted the husband anyway.
/r/MensRights17/02/13 01:37 PM
1

It's an option. Prepare maybe, but he needs to establish paternity first.
/r/MensRights17/02/13 01:34 PM
1

It won't work though. This is her meal ticket. She doesn't want a husband. She wants a baby and child support son she can live on her own. This won't work and will make him look bad to the court.
/r/MensRights17/02/13 01:33 PM
1

After establishing paternity he needs to try. This woman won't abort, it is her meal ticket. This will only add to her arsenal when it fails. "Judge, he's unfit to parent because he wanted to kill my baby! Punish him with more child support!"
/r/MensRights17/02/13 01:31 PM

People ITT seem to forget that this will head to court, imagine the impact of her telling the story of how he tried to force her to get an abortion. How's that going to look? It's he said she said who do you think the court will believe? This woman is decietful. What makes us think that will change?. OP stuck his dick in crazy and now he has to do damage control. Choices are: it is his or it isn't. If it isn't he needs to prove that, if it is his kid he needs to decide if he wants to pay support…

I don't explain to humans why they should breathe. It isn't about the abortion, it's the ethics involved in the deception. Along with the consequences if she doesn't "fall" for it. There is a lot more at risk.

You don't have to be self righteous or a "shit heel" to know this is a bad idea. Fight it in court. Demand paternity testing. IF it is yours, fight for custody if you choose. But don't start by being deceptive. It is tempting, but the wrong way to go.

Another excellent suggestion. To play devil's advocate, is that how we grade people in life? Would an employer want to see both grades or only one? Could they? Would you rather show a composite B- or a D+A ? I think as a parent I would like both grades separated. I'd go so far as to say I'd want to see grades for: Behavior, Home work, and Tests. I think each one of those three things has a different meaning.
/r/MensRights12/02/13 04:11 PM

I watched this done in a professional medical setting where the child didn't exhibit any crying or apparent discomfort, I would say that that was the 'best' and there is no way it took 2 seconds(I realize, hyperbole). It took about 20 minutes from entering the room to leaving the room. (as I've stated before, I've since changed my opinion on having the procedure done)

I read that as the doctor in training was buying it, not the school. Still, I doubt that is the market buying these.
/r/MensRights11/02/13 05:56 PM

I'm just going to disagree with that. You might want to re-read what you wrote unless you are talking about Dr. Nick. This isn't some dime-store medical operation. At least it shouldn't be. Did more searching couldn't find an abortion practice kit either. Somethings should just be done by a professional, trained correctly.
/r/MensRights11/02/13 05:19 PM

Your argument sounds good, but it doesn't hold water. I didn't see any mastectomy training dolls. Or Female genital mutilation training dolls. I see 1. it is infant boy specific. That and I don't believe someone training to be a medical practitioner is using amazon to get their degree. As for religious practitioners? I think they should be stopped. Body integrity and free choice of the boy outweighs any religious need, right, or freedom of the parent.

As a boy once myself, I had bad grades but good test scores. So good in fact that I got accused of cheating on more than one occasion at several different levels of education. In my case it wasn't behavior based, I just didn't do homework that I felt was repetitious and/or 'make work'. If I felt I knew something, I knew it and moved on. Class participation and behavior need to be part of a grade, but what part of the grade is the question. As an employer, I need employees that can work with othe…

but that's hardly an MRA issue. It's exactly an MRA issue, as it is a Feminist issue and a christian/muslim/democrat/republican issue. Any time a fringe element speaks out, the movement needs to respond and let the public they are educating know how f'ed up it is. And no matter what you say, you did portray feminists poorly in your post. If that was unintentional or not is irrelevant, it's what you did. I said exactly what I meant. You read it a different way. but there are things like body language that can confound the issue and, IMO, should not be able to be used and made into a case as a rape. How is all sex rape, even non violent, consensual sex in marriage, rape to some extreme people? Well the society in which we live is patriarchal and male dominated and it has shaped women to expect sexual advances from their husbands and they are so overpowered by the teaching of all of society that they cannot go against all they have been taught and deny consent. So they say yes because that is what society has raised them to do, and that yes is absent of free will, so it isn't consent. Slight…

I know it's not the point of this particular post, but in my experience all of the quoted sentiment I find being enforced by women much, much more than I see men living up to it. (Don't take this as offensive or disagreeing, it's just conversation) What do you mean by that? That you see women being subservient more than men saying don't be subservient? Thanks!
/r/MensRights09/02/13 07:00 PM

Thanks. I don't believe that feminism should be concerned with equality for men, just like they shouldn't be concerned with having an outcome that is 'more than fair'. They should look out for the gender female, while the MRM should look out for the gender male. It doesn't mean that we can't agree that something is unfair, but we should each have a narrow focus on correcting wrongs.

As a fun thought experiment, ask the men and women in your life, how many men and women they know are rapists, or have raped/taken sexual advantage of another person.
