It depends, if it's something like a wife murders her child then no, however if she gets a lenient sentence because she's a woman then yes.

I think this is a moot point because everyone who dislikes /MR is going to claim we hate women no matter what. It's their easiest quick shaming tactic.

We try to keep things pretty level headed. It's pretty normal to get worked up about injustice though.

It should be allowed because unlawful or otherwise bad female behaviour goes unchecked and unpunished. Society often lets it slide when women behave badly while men are punished harshly for the same behaviour. If we just let it slide, people will continue to think it's no big deal.

If there is in any way a gender oriented issue to be discussed (in this case differences in male/female sentencing for the same crime, or a woman getting away with behavior a man could be arrested for) then it is a gender issue and belongs here.

It depends.

If the story is an example of something that actually has a documented effect, then I think it can actually be quite productive at best. An example of this would be something where a perfectly capable father loses all visitation rights to his children or something like that. This is an example of potential family court bias, and serves as a starting point for a discussion about said bias (which as mentioned, is an actual documented thing). As long as we as a community downvote everything that just amounts to bashing this single woman, then I think it's fine.

An example of a story that isn't really relevant, would maybe be one where a woman murders her husband. There is no widespread trend of wives murdering their husbands and as such, this doesn't really serve as an example of anything related to the discrimination against men and therefore anything the MRM is about. MAYBE if said woman only got like 4 months in prison, then we could talk about sentencing disparities, but an article isn't really necessary.

In the end, I think a better solution is to make this sub-reddit self-posts only (I've suggested it before in relation to people posting facebook screenshots), with a rule that a self-post actually has to contain more than just a link. This way, people can't just post a link and then HOPE a discussion starts (because the discussion is what makes it acceptable). Forcing a self-post would make people have to actually start the discussion themselves in the actual post and then include the link. IMO this is the best solution because it would only "censor" the articles that actually cannot create discussion... well, it presumably would since I figure if the OP can't think of what else to post with it, that not too many other people can.

Yes, but only if the police response to such actions are LESS than what would be done if the genders are reversed.

My personal opinion is that some of these posts are ok. Your first line I think shows the split well, woman doing something illegal to a man, for example, isn't enough to be a men's rights issue. But a woman getting away with something that a man wouldn't do because of their gender is a men's rights issue, because it shows a situation in which men are treated badly because of their gender, even if it is just an individual case.

The article you linked is an example of one I wouldn't post on, because there's nothing to show that the man who was sent to jail was treated badly in this case because he was a man. But we also shouldn't be too strict in general with moderation policy on these things, and allow the karma system to keep things in check and rate the validity of a post as a men's rights issue.

It's kinda hard to tell what's relevant and what isn't. A woman doing something wrong to a man probably doesn't belong here, but a woman doing something wrong or illegal to a man and getting away with it/getting a reduced sentence for it because the victim is a man probably does.

I cringe, often in confusion, whenever I read that /r/MensRights is a place only for hate speech and mindless hatemongering. Although I don't agree with this at all, I do understand that these stories and articles can give the wrong impression, and lead to unproductive discussion.

Never even occurred to me anyone would see it that way. The purpose of such pieces isn't to even criticise the one woman who did something, let alone any other women. The point is a criticism of the forces in authority (presumably mostly men if you like taking score of that sort of thing, but of course you shouldn't), and their bias against men in allowing such unjust behaviour and so on.

I've never seen a story that was posted that went "Woman screws man over and is then arrested for it, put on trial, found guilty and sentenced to a fair length jail time"

The criticism is surely of the system.

FFS, they can't even figure out what IS and ISN'T "off-topic" and that's already a mod policy.
