You are absolutely correct. I enjoy watching people squirm when I point out that the Child Support Industry transfers $20 BILLION a year from men to women in America. I then like to point out how that amount is twice the amount of total money brought in by the NFL and about the same as McDonald's. I'm pretty sure mothers abuse more than fathers because fathers are often, yknow, absent removed from their children by the state. It's hard to abuse a child you're not even taking care of allowed to take care of. FTFY. And, no matter what excuse it trumpeted, the fact still remains that women are the primary abusers of children. Why can't boys just be boys? Society has gone towards seeing anything masculine as bad. We tried to introduce legislation in our state for presumptive shared parenting (the court would have to give both parents custody automatically unless one parent could be proven unfit by legal standards) but it was defeated by the Family Court lawyer lobby and the Women's Poverty Center. Their argument was that it would make custody battles even more ferocious. It was an idiotic argument but it worked.

Good deal. My son's mother is court ordered to never be alone with my son. However, she did kidnap him one night and when we went to the police, with the court order in hand, all they did was put out an APB. The police actually said that because she was the mother there was nothing they could do. I was furious. She ended up bringing him back at 4am but nothing ever happened to her for it.

Good points. Junkies, as I am sure the OP is fully aware of by now, are unpredictable and can be dangerous. Having the child support issue on his side is going to help in the unavoidable troubles that are due to arise. I would even suggest that he fight against her being able to visit with the child unless she is supervised. It is scary as shit handing your child over to a person that you know is crazy even if it is only for a day or two.
