If you live closer to your ex then do the 2-2-5-5. Basically, I have my twin boys Monday and Tuesday every week. She has them Wednesday and Thursday and we alternate weekends. We have Holiday schedules already defined in MSA. You can use any AI chat to create a calendar entry for this and I use Gemini to create Google Calendar entries which I share with my ex. So no confusion or misunderstanding with her. My boys are a bit older (13) so they help with chores which I pay them monthly allowance th…

I do 2-2-5-5. Monday and Tuesday nights with me. Wednesday and Thursday nights with her. Weekends (Friday-Sunday nights we alternate). I would recommend using a joint calendar like Google Calendar and having ChatGPT or Gemini create the calendar for you and her.

Great post OP. Same age as you and I came from a long term relationship. Most women I meet wants to seal the deal. I want to take it slow and not rushing into anything. This has been a crazy experience trying to date after a long time and the apps are complete sh*t show. Good luck out there

My recommendation would be to talk to a lawyer and understand your rights and what you be in the hook for in terms of spousal support. Prepare to sell the house and split any equity.

I am not there and further away on separation/divorce. Thailand is on bucket list as well and share the sentiment as you. Once you are done with the trip, let us know about the itinerary and how it was for you.

I am in CA and going through this. Working with a mediator. My stbx had no clue of finances so it is taking time for her to come back with a counter to my offer. Per law everything should get divided and if you make more then you would have to pay CS if you’ve kids. Spousal support depends and you can negotiate some other way. You should put all your expenses down and see if you can come together on amicable way to negotiate. You can DM me if you need more details.

If you don’t want shared custody of your child and willing to sacrifice your life then stay in this marriage until your child is old enough. You would be wasting your life and these precious time. My kids are older: 11 and they understand that it is not easy and sometimes it is best to separate and not have constant fights at home.

Question is do you love her and think it will work and she will change?

If there is no love or respect left then go for it. Otherwise you’re just kicking the problem down the road. For me, I kept pushing for 19yrs thinking it will work but instead we kept growing apart and no there is no love or respect left. Keep good relationship with your child. I wish I could have done better.

Stay positive as much as you can. You plan for a marriage but never a divorce and it’s hard when it hits you. Talk to a therapist. Do some workout or even a 5 minutes walk everyday would do you good.

I think you and I have something in common. My wife just told me the same thing today but although it is a long time coming. Don't know how long will it take but stay positive and only look into the positives'. Things could be lot worse. Start thinking about your hobbies. Things that interested you but couldn't do it. Loneliness it tough but surround yourself with family, friends and things makes you happy.

Thanks. That’s a great idea. I may have to rent initially for a bit. Paying 2 mortgages + property tax and then child support might be very difficult at first. Do we split the profit from the first home when we sell in 6-7yrs time or she will hand that back to me is something to figure out.

I just read your post and understand where you're coming from. Everyone's situation is different and although I didn't go through the process yet but I know it will not be fair and someone will not be happy. In my situation, we got married early and didn't have kids for the longest time. She had every oppty to advance in her career. We pretty much started around the same salary range. She relied on me mostly and I was fine with all that. Even after having kids, she went right back to work (3 mon…

Yeah, day1 on the search and I haven’t really found any. Called up 3 places, 1 said they don’t have anyone who can specialize in divorce law and the other 2 never responded.

Yeah, I figured that I won’t be able to retire anytime soon. There isn’t much I can do other than going through this painful process

Thanks. Yeah, I would prefer lump sum. Even if she remarries, I am fine with her getting the money. We have been together for 19yrs and we have had went through a lot. I have gotten a contact of law firm through work benefit and would be contacting them soon.

Thanks and glad to hear you also have twin boys. I am in the bay area as well and would definitely run the numbers off the state website. I am in sales so it varies year to year. I make $300k+ and she would be around $50k. Will DM you about some additional questions.

Thanks. I know she would love that since her parents are from there. My job wouldn’t allow that and I would have something which may not pay close to what I earn.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
