many people believe the woman should stay at home to care for the children, the house, the shopping and the cooking. I only just started reading it, and it already stuck out to me that shopping is included in this list. I never thought of that before, but it's so true.

I'm going to write a long thing around this entire topic. Pertaining specifically to your question, jump down to the part about Recovery. Trauma bonding is when you identify with your abuser, to the point that you form an emotional attachment to them. For example, Stockholm Syndrome is one kind of trauma bond. If you undergo any long-term abuse (by your parents, by a partner, by a boss, etc) you might find yourself falling into trauma bonding without realizing it. Especially if this has happened…

I did watch this movie, and I admire him as a rock climbing master, but you're so right that he embodies no FDS values at all. It struck me at the time of watching, and remembering now, all I can see are his very creepy large dark eyes.

Also, doesn't this just show exactly how dumb he is? Like if he needs 10 years to figure out if his preference is for or against this one person, I'm sorry, you must be pretty dumb. You should be able to figure that out within a few months, a year tops. Usually people will know much sooner if they're with someone they want to be with for the rest of their lives. If you're not capable of that self reflection and self evaluation process on a shorter time frame than ten years you are either 1. a to…

Yes, I totally agree with this assessment! I missed this sign for most of my life and it almost always bit me in the ass. The last time I met a man like this, I paid attention. Right before covid (and lockdowns) was announced, a family member had a birthday party and invited a lot of their friends. I was immediately drawn to a very charming, vivacious (tall, blond, good looking) man. He seemed affluent, amiable, vivacious, and I felt like if a family member had him as a friend I wouldn't mind a …

It's a shit test. It's their way of checking to see how much you value your self, because if you're entertained by that stuff they know they can abuse you so much worse in the future and you'll roll over and beg for more.

It's the money you spent to learn a lesson. Sometimes they're more expensive (like the 300€ train ticket I once bought) and sometime less (like a dinner or lunch I paid for) but ultimately that's <500€ I've spent to learn that men are not all that, and now I can protect myself 100% better! My uni degree was more expensive and taught me less valuable skills.

When I first moved to a foreign country to go to medical school there, I met a real scrote. A psychopathic scrote. He wowed me by telling me he had made it to 3rd year before dropping out. Young, barely-adult me was so impressed. He was working as a waiter and bartender, drinking his weight in alcohol every night, couldn't pay rent for his flat that was outside of the city (so of course I was so nice to let him crash at mine, even though he often didn't appear until 3am). Turns out he was spendi…

And she is so good at believing the victim. I will always remember the one episode where a woman holds a man at gunpoint in an apartment, and it's being livestreamed to the internet. The police is told about it, and half the the time they're trying to find the flat. When Olivia goes inside, she 100% believes the victim, although the scrote just denies denies denies. Eventually he confesses, and his entire demeanor changes. It was incredible acting on their behalves. I feel like Olivia Benson is …

If they don't walk the talk, they're using it to hide their abusive core. If they're doing the hard stuff (like being vegan, not watching porn, going to therapy for their own trauma, delving deep inside themselves to figure out their flaws and actively work on them - aka the non-performative actions) (performative actions being going to marches (to meet women), or joining woke book clubs (to pick up women), or talking about how woke they are on OLD (to pick up women)) then they're probably not c…

It's better not to name the shooters of these mass shootings. They often do it for attention, and referring to them with their name feeds into that. Future wannabe-shooters will see it and take note that this is how you acquire fame. How many victims can you name off the top of your head? Time and place I feel are the best ways to refer to these degenerate scum.

Abusers are abusers. It has nothing to do with their pasts, their presents, or their futures. They feel entitled to certain behaviors, perks, etc. He will continue to abuse you and others until it becomes more difficult to abuse than to change. As Lundy Bancroft says in Why Does He Do That?: "I have sometimes said to a client: “If you are so in touch with your feelings from your abusive childhood, then you should know what abuse feels like. You should be able to remember how miserable it was to …

This is also why I stick to the female autism subs, because the ones with males in them suck. Men always make the conversation about themselves, and dismiss any experience that they have not personally had. Autism presents differently in women! You don't know what we go through, random internet autistic man. Though the two female ones aren't that great either. Both mod teams have their own issues.

I highly suggest the book Set Boundaries Find Peace by Nedra Glover Tawwab. She helps you figure out what boundaries are, why you need them, and then a ton of helpful examples and phrases and situations in which to apply it. Perfectly made for autistic women.

I was friends with my partner for 4 years before we decided to take things to a deeper level. It worked ideally for me, since I could get to know him as a person in many situations without feeling like I had to stick with him or something. We had one big fight (due to communication problems) during our friendship, and when we picked up talking again months later, we both decided that that sucked, and we'd both individually improve ourselves. It's one of the only reasons I decided to move things …

Yes, definitely! I didn't want to do a hardline post and say: "you ladies who watch this trash are trash!", but I did want to point out that consuming a lot of reality tv is probably going to not lead towards the goal of being a HVW. I was never interested in reality shows, and have seen clips of a few here and there at most. I think a part of me always understood that they are catering to people on a similar level as the people on the show: pick me's, scrotes, and all the poor people who don't …

Same, I also cannot watch them. They feel very low-value. Exploiting people, encouraging people to be toxic to one another, and on top of that, there is usually a monetary prize to incentive this behavior, which feels so gross to me. If you want to find love, you're not going to find it with a 100k grand prize.

Yes, it can vary which modalities work best for you, however my comment was directed towards the type of therapist you want to find, not for the kind of therapy you need. That's best left up to the experts. IFS is Internal Family Systems. It takes the idea of parts (you probably worked through that model a bit using schemas, but this is not based on schemas), each part being one that was traumatized as you were growing up and left to sort of fend for itself. As you're triggered as an adult, one …

my trauma therapist never forces me to talk about events. In fact, in many cases reliving the events by talking about what happened is detrimental towards healing. It's a very outdated idea. So if you find a therapist who forces you to tell all your stories, block and delete them! A good trauma therapist's focus is on getting you integrated into the here and now. The focus sometimes shifts to certain events or experiences from your past, but most of the work is done in the here and now.

You find a trauma therapist and start working through your trauma, integrating all the parts. Don't go to a hypnotherapist, or a psychoanalysis, or someone who only does CBT / DBT. You want someone trauma informed, who knows IFS, EMDR, and how to deal with the trauma of the past in the present. You can start on your own while you wait by reading the book Healing the Fragmented Selves of Trauma Survivors: Overcoming Internal Self-alienation by Janina Fisher. It has most of the latest research, an…

Some advice, unsolicited, but it might help you a bit: I have similar pain to you, only it lasts for 3 days, this last month it was 5 days. It was horrible. I've isolated one trigger: refined oils in my diet. They increase the estrogen, so just not eating any oil ever has cut down my pain from 5 very terrible days down to about 2-3 moderately terrible days. I also found what works is to take my pain killers before even a hint of pain surfaces. If I take them early enough I won't vomit them up. A…

I tried reading this book, but there are pretty bad depictions of rape and stalking (from what I remember). It can be quite triggering for some people - it was for me. Who made up the rule? Men. Women used to not give it up until marriage. Then it was seen as being a "loose woman" if you did. Slowly it became being a "modern woman". Slowly, anyone who didn't want to have sex first and ask questions later was seen as regressive, as backwards, as uncool. I place the blame squarely at the feet of the patriarchy, because they're the ones who gain everything and lose nothing when women have sex early. Media plays into it: Rizzo is seen as the 'cool girl' and Sandy …

mentally unhinged BPD types I really feel the need to address this. The diagnosis of BPD has been a dead end dx for women for decades, as a way for the medical community to wash their hands of "hysterical women with too many problems". Add to that the family is often presented as the 'good' ones in a BPD-dx scenario, and the whole thing becomes a misogynistic patriarchal shit fest. I say this as a medical doctor who wrote her masters thesis on an aspect of BPD. So not only is actually diagnosing…

One thing my therapist said, when I was trying to convince her of something, is: "stop, what are you doing right now?" and I explained I felt I had to make my case. "but why? I believe you. You don't need to prove anything to me." It's not healthy if you feel you have to set up a whole court case with documents, witnesses, evidence, etc. if you're stating your boundaries, wants, needs, desires, opinions, etc. There's a place for that, and that's in the court of law. My parents forced me to "prov…

That's the kind of phrasing that is supposed to trigger your pickme behavior: "Oh I won't neglect you, I'm not like those other girls". And then you show him that you're not, no matter what he throws at you. It forces you into a sunk cost fallacy, and he'll keep lowering the bar, over and over, to see how much shit you'll put up with, until you've had enough. Then he'll reel it back slightly, promise to "do better", and never change. Biggest red flag ever, that type of manipulative phrasing.

fr, letting any child consume porn is sexual abuse One way that pedo's groom girls is exposing them to porn. Seeing those acts, seeing what happens (usually in child porn) will make them more likely to engage in those acts. They're being shown as the normal, healthy, natural thing to do, so the girl squishes that feeling inside herself saying this is wrong and does what the adult says.

She mentions at the end of the 2020 webinar that I linked elsewhere in this thread what works: writing books exposing the porn industry, doing research and presenting it, talking about it with your friends, your community, FDS and other online spaces, hosting webinars and basically getting our voices out there. Crazy to think that only a few decades ago the main thing for teens to do was to go to movies and make out in the back row for hours. Now it's all straight to pornified, postured, posed sex. I've been rewatching Buffy and even in the late 90s when that show was airing it was still mainstream to just go and dance, then make out with a boy. That guy totally had a penis problem. People (who am I kidding, it's usually men) who get squished into airplane seats and then have the audacity to take up more space than they paid for are the worst. We've all been there. Young, naive, thinking everyone else will respect you the way you respect everyone else. It's sad that it takes years and years of these events to pile up to make bitter, loud, angry women. We should be loud and shaming them earlier to stomp out this scrote from society. Instead they get to get away with it, getting more and more daring until they escalate to full rape and/or murder. I still say good on your past self for staying safe first and foremost. You focused on safety. It's not always safe to be the loud voice. Especially if it's night, you're alone, or the only woman around. Or even if there are no other men. Sometimes you can feel the loneliest in a crowd of people because everyone else will stare but not step up to help you. I just hate how this is a female-only space, but then males are still brought in here. Through these tiktoks, saying basic shit that everyone should know, or through the Friday posts. Like, let's just be women, in our own space. It's the only one on the internet!

Thanks! I'm sorry you had to do the same. But it's safer. I've checked out that sub, but eh, I'm mostly over it. I'm trying to focus more on leveling up and healing from trauma and figuring out how to take my next steps in life. There was a time (and still sometimes is) where I want to share my stories, but for the most part I'm over it. Also there's the insane parents sub if you haven't seen that one. My parents belong there more often than anywhere. xD

Congrats on your sobriety as well! I think it definitely depends on where you live and what kind of people you are surrounded by. When I was in uni there were hardly any people who didn't consume alcohol. But now that I'm older, and also moved to a more progressive country, I feel there is far more acceptance to not drink. No one pushes you, no one mocks you, no one tries to sneak alcohol into your beverage. Drinking is still prevalent, but not mandatory. And like I read in a book the other day,…

Yeah, that makes sense. He is a narcissist, and loves conspiracy theories (probably because they make him feel special; having access to special knowledge). So him knowing something about my partner I don't know probably helps feed his ego. I've cut contact with my LV parents for a few years now. They let me and my siblings down far too many times.

Any alcohol use is associated with some short-term and long-term health risks There is no safe level for drinking alcohol The US Dietary Guidelines recommend that people who do not drink alcohol start drinking for any reason. (Other countries have similar stances). Alcohol is never completely safe. Low-volume alcohol consumption has no net mortality benefit compared with lifetime abstention Alcohol consumption, even at moderate levels, is associated with adverse brain outcomes including hippocam…

No addiction is gender dependent. Also with the push of "female empowerment" linked to sex work and how kinky you can be in the bedroom, a lot of women are watching more porn, learning to tolerate and then enjoy porn, and eventually also getting addicted to porn. Case in point: when Jennifer Lawrence's nudes were linked across the internet and it was a huge to-do across reddit (where you I see them?? have you seen them?! How do you judge her!?) I went out my way to avoid any places hosting the p…

Thank you. Very kind of you. Though I do prefer no money goes to reddit, and instead to a worthwhile charity. Congrats on finding sobriety; it's very difficult usually! I've had my own issues with addiction in my life, and without support, without love and help, it's almost impossible to do on your own. I can't believe people just sent you porn. Indoctrination much? Though I have noticed that those countries with strong drinking cultures also tend to have strong porn use as well. Might just be c…

I feel the people are nicer in the south. They still can have really weird ideas about life and the world, but they are at least nice and willing to engage with you if you're a little different. Mostly what I found in the north and east (aside from downtown Berlin) was feeling ostracized and excluded for being a little bit different. Good luck! I hope it all works out for you! I ended up leaving Germany entirely for greener pastures. Have been a lot happier since.

I think that's why I never "got" dick pics. Like what am I supposed to do with this? A dildo, a banana, or even a lamp looks as interesting. Without an emotional, safe, deep connection there is literally nothing there. On the other hand, when you do have a deep emotional connection built, body parts can start to look far more interesting. I still don't quite feel all the "let me smoosh my face in there" feelings of sexual attraction it seems most people feel, but without any emotion I feel nothi…

I never enjoyed porn, until a guy friend showed me kink dot com back in the early 10's. My trauma-addled brain thought it was so good. But even then, I only occasionally viewed things. Once I started healing from my trauma, I realized I was asexual, all porn does nothing for me, and the more violent porn was only attractive because it's what I equated to love after growing up in a violent household.

I find the same thing in books: a full on erotic sex scene can occasionally be nice, but generally it's just rote robotic movements, one listed after the other. You get a bit more fun out of it if it's written in first person, but that's about it. On the other hand, the building of the relationship, the showing up in troubled times, the holding close and showing companionship, all of those to me are so much more interesting and fun to read about.

I have also realized that I'm asexual. I've always been annoyed and never understood how these super-sexualized ads were supposed to get me to buy things. I hate them. If anything it makes me never buy that thing. I can't listen to mainstream music anymore - everything is about sex, hooking up, calling women slurs, (and now of course I pick up on all the pickme stories in the songs as well), etc. I hate watching normal tv series that everyone lauds. They're so infuriating in their patriarchy and…

I study trauma, addiction, and their intersection. Porn addiction is real, and as bad as alcohol addiction. There is no okay amount of alcohol to drink. I can cite tons of studies if you want. Basically, any amount of alcohol is toxic to you. And studies on porn have found the same thing. Any amount of porn is toxic to humans. You can consume a little bit, now and then, and still show signs of addictive behavior. The more you consume, the more you will want to consume. The website Your Brain on …

I'm really not a fan of the city. It's a very work-centric city, with many of the only recreational choices 1. driving out of the city (nice), 2. drinking (eh), 3. museums (they are so-so; some fantastic ones, many more lame ones). Traffic is the worst. It takes 1.5-2 hours to drive across the city (I can't think of any other city as bad; even Berlin was faster to navigate. Maybe Paris). And, honestly, I just don't like the mindset of northern Germans. It's very close-minded, forcing you into th…

Oh, sure I guess. I didn't think people would be that interested. But if you think it's worthwhile, I can put something together. Though I think I'd want to read at least one more book, just to have something to compare. Comparison posts are always great.

Fun story about the Herbertstraße (okay, probably more "fun"): I had a LVX who manipulated me into taking him to Hamburg. I don't think my parents liked him very much, since my dad vetted him by suggesting they walk through the street. Of course, my father is an asshole and didn't tell me until years later that the scrote was oogling all the women and couldn't keep his eyes to himself (definitely into sampling the merchandise). I wish my father would have spoken up so I could have gotten rid of …

Also porn. If you consume vast amounts of porn, you're liable to only see young, attractive, ready and willing women. The subset of women featured in porn is quite a small % of the real population (essentially: young, beautiful, with a lot of makeup / body modifications). And when young women try to look similarly (wearing makeup and being young is often enough) and then go on dating apps or just exist in public, they will be fetishized just as the women on the screen are. These men cannot separ…

I had a trusted partner who helped me practice saying no, which was great right at the beginning. I told him what to say, to tell me that I can say no. To ask me if I wanted to say no. To ask me if I am saying yes. Etc. Being able to verbalize those basic things in a trusted relationship was the foundation. Then you can start learning nuance, figuring out what you like, if you feel comfortable in your own body at that point in time to try out something "new" (maybe you did try it in the past, bu…

For me, I figured out it was the only way I could feel "loved". I mean, none of those guys loved me, but they pretended for a little bit that they cared, and it's the only caring I had in my life. Definitely trauma bonding because we had terrible parents and never learned proper attachment and how to be loved.

FDS is the main thing that's brought my self esteem up since I was a child. Therapy only goes so far. Hearing (actually) empowering messages, statements, advice, etc. from women like me, who have experienced what I have and yet are still standing strong, their truth rings like the loudest bell I've ever heard. This post was just linked elsewhere in FDS, which is why my comment comes so late. This is what my grandpa used to do for "fun" to us kids. Take our pinkie finger and squeeze it really hard into our hand, or pull it backwards. There is literally nothing you can do to get out of it, and if you fight you can easily break your finger.

And then there's the huge population of women who never feel safe because (often) their father (or another male relative) was an abuser all their life. You don't learn to recognize what's unsafe because you never grew up feeling safe.

The couple of times I've been to a gym I was always oogled, given the sense I didn't belong, and generally hated it. I work out at home now for years, and I'm happy enough with it, but I would definitely try out a gym again if there was a womans-only near me!

Yep, they can't control the narrative anymore. We can compare stories, experiences, knowledge, mostly about them, but also about each other. How to stay safe, how to level up, how to improve ourselves without them. That is all extremely threatening to these LVM who have ego problems. They want to be able to control what women talk about, are exposed to, and so on, so we don't wise up and leave them for someone better. It's easier to spend all their time and effort on controlling us and maintaini…

Teaching used to be an exclusively male profession. Then it opened up to young women, right between the 'maiden' and 'mother' phase (aka too old to just sit at home (and not rich enough), yet too young to allow them out in the world alone. So women were allowed to at least teach until they got married. And with that the prestige of the job decreased, and now we're here. You see a similar phenomenon in healthcare, or even with names that used to belong to men and are now attributed to women (Lind…

You know that statistic that says on average population IQ has improved in the last 50-100 years? With more education, people get more 'intelligence'. That is, when you work hard, you study hard, you learn how to learn and how to form coherent thoughts and express them so others understand you, all of that takes a lot of effort. The more you do it, the better at it you get. So when these guys haven't been practicing this skill at all their entire lives, when confronted with needing that skill th…

The patriarchy supports men underachieving. An underachieving man can earn as much as a woman who works twice as hard. On top of that, these men tend to have had mothers who did everything for them, never had them tidy, clean, or do anything around the house (maybe mow the lawn or take out the trash). What they learn at home they take into the school / work environment. They get everything catered to them, so why put in effort? This is why FDS pushes to make these guys show effort: plan the date…

It depends. Most of them are right-wing, authoritarian, white supremeacist pipelines into even worse ideologies. Probably the only male-centered sub I'm aware of that is at all okay is r-menslib. I'm not active there, however. But most of the other subs men love like the jordan peterson, joe rogan, stoicism, etc ones are all either giving extremely basic advice (wash yourself! get up in the morning!) and/or push these people into even more dangerous ideologies.
