I get the point of your analogy, but suit guy is overdressed and has completely missed the mark regarding the job he's being hired for. We're looking for men who have social/emotional intelligence, who are willing to invest in the women they want in their lives. It doesn't matter which end of extremes a person is on, trying way too hard or not trying hard enough, the guy is still socially and emotionally inept.

Deny it calmly and forget it ever happened. If it weren’t you who told, you would just say no and move on. So don’t worry about it, don’t talk about it to anyone and focus your attention on something else.

We aren’t equal to men. We aren’t as physically strong as they are, we bear the risk of creating new people and they don’t, we aren’t paid equally, we have laws that prevent us from being in control of our own reproduction. If your friends want equality, good for them, they can start with any of the things I just listed. But going 50/50 on dates is bullshit and not the place to fight for equality. Date men who pay for dates because those are the men who recognize that things aren’t equal between…

If they’re going to ask you out the do it right away. The coffee dates and Boys looking for a penpal aren't worth your time and they wont be worth your time even if they figure out that they’re supposed to plan a real date. The type of date they suggest is indicative of who they are and where they’re at in life. A fuckboy who buys you dinner because you told him he needs to is still a fuckboy.

Would you invite the guy you're dating to a girls night? My girl friends and I do brunch on weekends, and I look forward to that time. If one of them brought their dude along I'd be a little bit annoyed and it would definitely ruin the group dynamic. It's not unreasonable for him to not extend an invitation. Obv. if it were like a couples board game night, or public bar trivia, or something that isn't private bro time then, yeah, not being invited is sus. But not inviting your girlfriend to boys…

Men who eat fast food are an immediate deal breaker for me. Like we all know that it isn’t good for us, and if you choose to put that Junk into your body I’m not sticking around to see the long-term consequences.

I was dating this guy who didn’t bring it up at all. He just didn’t talk to me all week until I broke things off with him on Thursday. His excuse was that he “just didn’t think about it” and I was like that’s because you just don’t like me and ended things. But it for real had me feeling a little crazy. If it weren’t for FDS I probably wouldn’t have realized that it’s a red flag.

I don't think vday needs to be about going to a fancy restaurant. But, especially when you're a reforming pick-me, it's a great way to gauge someone's interest. Did the dude(s) you're seeing decide to do something nice for you while they are literally being told by the general public that they're supposed to do something nice for you? If yes, great. If no, you need to pay attention to that and act accordingly. But in regards to the restaurant thing, I think it's somewhat important that we tell e…

HVM are somewhat rare, the only thing you can do to find them is date around, and take your time getting to know people. The LVM will filter themselves out once they figure out you wont put out for nothing, the rest of LVM you have to eliminate as you get to know them and see the red flags.

The important thing to pay attention to is how they treat you over time. Even guys who are happy waiting for sex can have problems. Like maybe they’re porn sick, or using you to pad their ego while they wait for the woman they actually like. Just wait them out until you’re sure they’re going to treat you right.

No response is the best response here. People like him will take any attention good or bad and Use it as encouragement to continue. Write him an unsent angry letter. Then put it away somewhere. But don’t communicate with him.

If he knows she likes him, he's just keeping her on the hook so he can use her as an emotional band-aid. Men aren't dumb and they'll use you if you let them. Sounds like OP is looking for permission to play sexy-therapist in exchange for non-committal dinner suggestions.

This is why we recommend dating around and withholding sex. They can't string you along if you're too busy to notice them. If you aren't participating in your life, and you're making space in your life for men before they've proven that they're worth it, then they're only stringing you along because you're letting them.

If I’m feeling confused about someone, it’s a no for sure. That’s why this is a bummer. I wasn’t confused until I realized that we don’t have plans for another date. If I had to guess, I think he thinks he doesn’t have to put effort into dating me and we’re just going to start “hanging out”. But that’s also a no from me.

We've been seeing each other a little less than once per week since the end of December and don't have a standing date. I hadn't thought about him as relationship potential because I'm still getting to know him, and I'm not ready to be committed to anyone for my own reasons, that I explained to him. The convo was basically him asking that I let him know if I don't see this turning into a relationship, because he prefers to only pursue one person at a time and he likes me. I’m in the same boat as you. “It’s not that the day is particularly of value to me. It’s that I feel it carries meaning if he doesn’t ask” is such an excellent way of putting it. I don’t think shaming someone is the best way to get them to change their behaviors. Women who are behaving like pikmes are usually suffering from extremely low self-esteem. When we shame them, we just force them further into their destructive behaviors. I think that calling out casual sex is important, and letting women know that it isn’t normal or healthy to fuck around, and that good men will value them when they learn to value themselves. I think the idea being your message is a good one, bu…

If you can’t trust a man to do something as simple as take a pill then you shouldn’t be having sex with him at all. People find a way to do the things that are priorities for them. If a man isn’t going to prioritize your health then find one who will.

I don't spend a lot of time thinking about her. But I am curious. She's really attractive, and if it were just money or citizenship she could easily get that without marrying such a gross man. He's not even that rich. Like is she just really unintelligent? Or is she intelligent enough to disguise her motives. Because the obvious things like money, citizenship, could have been easily had by her with someone less disgusting.

The nicest men will be is during the beginning of your relationship. Get a lawyer and make sure you have an ironclad pre-nup. Include things like compensation for time off work if you put your career on hold to have children, separations of certain assets like retirement accounts. Basically decide what you would need if you were to divorce.

It’s totally a thing. I was only on hormonal birth control for 3 months when I was 16. It made my boyfriend smell horrible to me. I didn’t know why it was happening at the time. It works both ways. You can start hating the smell of your partner, or if you’ve always been on BC when you stop to try for children you realize that you don’t want kids with your partner at all.

I think we should all collectively stop telling men if we’re on birth control. The answer is always no. I’m so sick of threads full of whiny comments about how men’s birth control has side effects. Like, DUH. Hormonal birth control has had side effects for ever, you just didn’t notice because it wasn’t happening to you.

Think of this date like an interview. You are the one interviewing him to see if you’re willing to make room in your life for him. You like certain things about him, but you don’t know him well enough to know if you like him. This is the beginning of a longer process for finding out who he is. Look nice, be present with him, enjoy yourself, but don’t let your guard down and don’t worry so much about what he thinks of you.

I think that what men misunderstand about women is that ALL of us have had messed up situations with men. I literally do not know a single woman over the age of 21 who hasn’t been raped, molested or beaten by a man. That’s not to say that men don’t experience the same, but not all men experience the same. The women on this sub are here because we want a partner who is a functioning adult that wont hurt us.

This is why it’s important to be single for awhile and know yourself. If you are normally calm and emotionally stable, but find yourself sad/anxious/easily upset around a particular person ir group of people, the problem is them not you. Drop them and find people who you don’t feel weird around. Sidenote: Some people, not just romantic partners, utilize this tactic. If you notice your boss or a friend doing the same, get out of that situation too. We all deserve healthy romantic, professional an…

I think the issue is with calling people disposable is that they aren’t plastic straws or ruined clothes or other depersonalized items to cast off. I think a lot of the pain women have experienced comes from being treated as disposable or less than human. We all know that it hurts. I would agree that men are replaceable and absolutely should be replaced or removed from your life, just like anyone else who is toxic. The message of the rest of it is wonderful - walk away from anyone who wont treat…

Thank you. I've been somewhat direct with people, I'm not sure if my responses are too blunt, but also if I think someone isn't serious anyway I tend to push the limit of how blunt I can be to test the reaction. Like guys who just "want to see what happens" I respond with "oh, so you're just looking for casual sex?" and usually they deny it and fade out.

I’m a woman and I was not given nurturing support or taught that my feelings mattered. If anything I was punished for having feelings. Sure it happens to men more often, but my point remains the same: I found ways to heal myself because it was important to me. I grew up with the “damsel in distress” image of women but as an adult all I see are men waiting to be rescued from themselves.

I agree. My golden rule is to treat people how they want to be treated as long as it doesn’t harm anyone else. But I strongly believe that changing your gender to match whatever you feel about yourself really only reinforces toxic gender stereotypes. And to OP it’s amazing how consent goes out the window in the situations you’re describing. If someone isn’t attracted then they aren’t attracted and guilting them into to trying to be with you is gross.
