The handbook specifically discourages casual sex. https://www.reddit.com/r/FemaleDatingStrategy/comments/d22vzv/given_that_the_risks_of_sex_are_way_higher_and/

Wooow. Really showed his true colors. I love that he considers that a sweet joke - what an idiot.

He’s telling you you’re not exclusive but he’s also not talking to anyone else right now. He’s just stringing you along if not straight up lying to you IMO. Best to respond that you’re tired of the app and dating and then move on from him too. Or don’t respond at all. He can find someone else to talk to.

I think you were too nice when you said you “appreciate the compliment.” What he did was gross. I wouldn’t be able to stand it. This kind of behavior gets old fast - as you’ve noticed. His fixation on the sexual side of your relationship is a red flag.

If they ask you this, they are LVM. Ignore and move on.

That’s great that you picked up those habits. Are you in therapy? Working with a therapist may help you feel fulfilled and whole on your own.

The problem is that you have time to think about him. Make yourself busy in other areas of your life. Pick up a new hobby? Something you’ve always wanted to do. Don’t let this dude take up your headspace.

When my partner asked me out for coffee I told him I prefer dinner dates and would need a phone call before anything else. He rolled with it and organized a time to speak on the phone and then planned a dinner date after I told him I was comfortable with our phone call. I wouldn't worry about being polite - like don't be mean but if a guy is into you they won't care how you say it, they will do what they need to do.

If you are in a high case area the high value thing is not to date. Why are you risking your health and that of the community?? High value women have better things to do.

I think that if you keep thinking this way you are going to keep finding yourself in these situations. Refocus on yourself. Pretend romantic relationships don’t exist. What do you want to do in that life? Do it. When you build this dream life you will not feel this way after a breakup. I love my partner and we are getting married in a month. But you know what? If he did something horrid tonight I would walk away. I know I would be okay. Your questions all make the mistake of thinking about someo…

It doesn’t matter that he hasn’t introduced anyone else to his parents - you’re living with him and his parents don’t even know he’s in a relationship. He is not serious about you. My boyfriend had never brought anyone around his family and it took him a month after we became serious to introduce us. And he had already talked me up. He adores me and his parents knew that way before I even met them.

They may walk, and that’s okay. Similar to your worries now - if he reacts negatively to you or is talking to other women, you can leave. It’s hard to keep this mentality when you really care about someone. The way I think about it is that, until I’m married, I need to protect myself/my lifestyle and focus on what’s best for me. After marriage then I may invest more in the other person, but not before that.

I don't think your confidence has to hinge on how you feel social situations. Focus on yourself and doing what you enjoy, not necessarily interacting with others.

I got a promotion late last year into more of an HR-realm and am in the process of negotiating for my work to pay for some certification programs, so that's exciting!

They don't need to have a three year or longer relationship under their belt. If he is serious about a woman, a man should propose within a year or two. I find it is better for them to have been in shorter relationships and moved on when they found an incompatibility.

LOL. This is the embodiment of my ex. After a little over a week of no contact after the break up he called me on a Sunday morning. I just let it ring through. I was driving home later that day and just thought - "How fucking dare you?" like, get the fuck out of here. How dare you think you deserve any of my head space? Sorry you miss the morning sex, not my problem. Then three days later he emails me saying that he called me and wasn't sure if I had him blocked but he just hoped I was okay with…

I dated a guy in his forties when I was in my mid-late twenties. Similar "okay for now" vibes. Dating him allowed me to easily move to an area I'd always wanted to return to and every day was fun with him. He is a HVM, and I certainly learned a lot about myself in this time period. That said, the relief I felt when we broke up was incredible and immediate. Once I had the means to do my own thing, I did. I don't regret moving on and wish I had made moves to establish myself earlier on. It feels e…

It's not about holding them accountable for their actions - it's about keeping to your standards. Who cares what the reason for any of those things you listed may be? They are unacceptable.

Are you dating this guy exclusively? If yes, I would end it. If not then you should be open to going out with these other men. It's important to weigh all your options and see who stands out.

You say you know that these things are a “nono” but do them anyway so I doubt you’ll take this advice. You need to disconnect completely. Do not reach out to him. If he’s interested he’ll pursue you.

I used to do the whole treat him like a king when he didn't deserve it thing. They were already committed relationships but I was always putting more thought and effort into it. So done with that - I deserve to be pursued and treasured!

When I look at my text conversation with men, it should always be more from him and less from me. If you're sending monologues and they're giving two word responses, you should either match their tone (if you're interested), or move on. Try sending short responses for a change.

The mentality you had in college is the way to go. Take advantage of opportunities and work towards goals for yourself. This emptiness is not going to be fixed just because you find someone to date. Have you read the sidebar yet? There is some recommended reading/listening in the wiki. Check that out. I especially like the podcast "Mating Matters with Dr. Wendy Walsh." I cringe whenever a man tells me he isn't good enough or "I guess i'm just a big disappointment." or really any self-deprecating comment. They may think they are expressing themselves but it's a manipulation. They want me to tell them they are good enough, and they aren't a disappointment. Not gonna happen.

Another way to show they don't understand FDS at all. "Suicidal on FDS" Really??? Because FDS is all about men? Wrong again.

Have you read the handbook? Don't let men take up this much space in your life. If you're not getting anything from online dating then don't go on. Focus on yourself.

Treat him like anyone else. Next time you all go out in a group and he asks to continue the evening don't do it. There's only one reason why he wants you over later.

Sex is biologically meant to tie you in. Oxytocin released after sex bonds you to the man. This same effect is not seen in men so you can see why sex too early is dangerous to women. Emotions are so primal and instinctive it can be difficult to break free from them and think logically - especially if you're used to following your emotions. But just as with anything else, practice helps! Absolutely be careful about vetting men. Acknowledge an emotion/crush, see it for what it is, and wait for him…

Texting a paragraph of feelings is not a good look. You could have pulled back slowly while keeping him in your rotation of suitors. You acknowledge that you're used to toxic relationships so that's likely a factor. Relationships don't have to be all lovey-dovey overwhelming - it's actually better if they're not. Emotions are just that - emotions. You need to separate from them and look at your relationships logically to really see if a man is bringing value in your life or not.

Today you didn't realize he was there and went on with your workout like usual. There's nothing wrong with that - you were doing your thing, as you should.

You should focus on yourself. I wouldn't start dating right now so don't worry about men at all. Look at the other aspects of your life that you are unhappy with and change them - a lot easier said than done but take it one step at a time. The description of LVM shows a lot of responses a LVW would have to the LVM. By maintaining yourself as a HVW you wouldn't concede on making any of the changes you've written as an example of a LVM. You would keep going out with your friends, hitting the gym, not accepting last minute dates, and definitely not having him move in with you. You need to live your life the way you like it as a HVW and the man will see your worth and pursue you accordingly. If he doesn't, he has weeded himself out as…

The not texting right away thing shouldn’t throw you - just do whatever you’d do with the rest of your evening. You have better things to spend time on than worrying when he’ll text you. Self deprecating jokes are such a turn off! LVM will tell you their own faults this way.
