It should please you to hear that here in Sweden there are signs that more and more people are growing tired of feminism.

They do matter, because they matter to me and to many others who care about them, just like we care about other humans. It is arguably wrong to eat meat, because it's inflicting unnecessary suffering and inflicting unnecessary suffering is wrong. You may not agree that we should strive to minimize pain, and I can not argue you into having empathy. But realize that you won't change the opinion of us who dislike seeing suffering by describing how life in the wild works or what the evolutionary his…

What does it mean that their suffering doesn't "mean anything"? It obviously means something to those who empathize with them. It means something to the animals themselves too, of course. Does it matter if a stupid human, or a senile old person suffers? If they are not able to comprehend that they will die or to invent the things which make our society this advanced? Is it irrelevant if we euthanize them? No, because we don't want simpler beings to suffer either and if we can prevent it, many th…

So you do care about human suffering. But claiming that you do because of our cognitive ability or the fact that slaves belong to our species is rationalizations. You care because you have some measure of empathy, it's just selective. In the same way you care for human suffering, a great many people also care about non-human suffering. If we were biologically programmed to only empathize with other humans, then why is that so? It is because we recognize aspects of ourselves in non-human animals …

The suffering of living beings matter to me and to countless others. Therefore it is not meaningless. You might as well argue for human slavery, since this is a world of suffering, therefore a bit more avoidable suffering doesn't matter in the end. Well, in the end it mattered to those with empathy and thus slavery was ended.

I don't see what your point is. The existence of a species is not sacred, but the suffering of individual animals is very real. We can prevent it, or at least minimize it by not industrially killing them for our own comfort.

No, I won't "deal with it". I will continue arguing that it's wrong to eat meat, or rather, to kill for meat, because it's inflicting unnecessary suffering. It's very simple really.

Where are these well-treated animals you speak of? How would you industrially produce meat and treat the animals well at the same time? My country has very strong animal protection laws, as I said, and still massive animal suffering. Yes, stopping eating meat is not that hard really.

I don't really think it's at all viable to treat animals humanely while society chooses to depend on meat and other animal products. At that scale it's all industrial or else it wouldn't be profitable. Even in my country where the animal protection laws are relatively strong there's massive animal suffering in these industries, so I have no reason to expect that to change. If you treat meat as a product to be mass produced - which it must be if everyone eats it regularly - , then animals will pa…

Regardless of possible health benefits (which are debatable) I would argue that it's unethical since you don't need to eat meat to live and inflicting unnecessary suffering is wrong.

Whites as a group, including white men deserve to be recognized without shaming and white guilt. Whites (or really, white ethnic groups) have a history and identity too. Their contribution to world history is largely positive, but everyone grows up learning that white men are the cause of all evil.

It seems obvious to me that the reason this is big news is really the traditional view that pedophiles for some strange reason are men and not women, and therefore if women get caught then there must be reasons and excuses and what not. I'm sure many men who consume child pornography have other, related problems but the articles about them are never sympathetic in the least.

I find it more disturbing that someone would abort a fetus because the mother cared more about her career, than that someone would abort a fetus because she wants her children to be healthy.

Yes, the difference is that not wanting to have unhealthy children is an even stronger reason to abort it than just lack of money or lack of time to raise it. Both are because it's inconvenient to have the child, but in the former case it might also be because one doesn't want to bring more suffering into the world. Surely it is more merciful to abort a child which otherwise would be doomed to die at a young age.

I admit that my personal ethics are somewhat selfish. How are children more valuable for the long-term survival of society?

And how do you show that preferring children in a life or death situation is more ethical?
/r/MensRights10/01/12 02:02 AM

I don't see how children are any more "valuable" than adults. Valuable for what, for whom? Other people's children are not more valuable for me than my own life is, anyway. They are not sacred just for having lived a decade or two less.

I agree. But at least where I live (the country has been called the Saudi-Arabia of feminism!) feminist doctrine has become something of a state ideology and their hypocrisy and conspiracy theories about "patriarchy" hurts many people in many ways, for example in the school system where anti-male brainwashing begins early. However, it may be possible that some of the feminists are decent at least in behavior. So perhaps they are willing to discuss men's issues in their subreddits. It has not bee…

Yes, point out problems that men have and feminists will claim it's men's fault. It's always men's fault in some way. And if you disagree, you are a misogynist just for wanting actual equality instead of one-sided identity politics. The article and the comments on Jezebel make me sad. It's pure bullshit and lies. Why don't more people argue with them? Do they censor people with opposing views?

I've noticed that it's completely acceptable to demand that men have "confidence" and "man up" in order to attract ladies, and if they don't want to play the alpha then they shouldn't expect any interest at all from the other sex, while demanding submissiveness or other old female gender roles from women would be considered misogyny.

It might be a legal difference, but I don't see the ethical difference. The parents might regret their decision to have a baby for some reason and decide to kill the infant. Putting them in jail for that is a bit odd when you can kill it in the womb without legal consequences.
/r/MensRights31/12/11 08:35 PM
1

I don't see any great difference. A quick, painless death shortly after birth would not be that different from aborting it in the womb. If we allow (especially late) abortion we might as well allow infant euthanasia.
/r/MensRights31/12/11 07:54 PM
1

there is a natural demand for abortions cross cultures and species The same could be said for infanticide, a historically common practice. If a 6 months old fetus doesn't have a right to survive I can't consider it a great problem if you kill the newborn. Because why would it be immoral to end their lives shortly after birth? After all, they are cognitively undeveloped and extremely dependent on people who may not want to care for them. Many animals are more capable and intelligent and yet we ki…
