Damn same situation, however I’ve done a bit of CBT and writing a list of all the things that was bad about her helps a lot . Been 18 months for me she’s moved on no probs as expected . I just don’t feel ready even though im starting to feel a little lonely and maybe a new GF would help me , im not sure I think I need to fully heal , 43 though , im not getting any younger

There’s not mutual respect bro . With respect there’s no relationship. I could have literally written your post . It’s pretty identical to my situation. I left , I’m still gutted but it was the right move . I’m not sure where I saw / read it but it was something along the lines of “She will respect men , but not you , no matter what you do , don’t waste anymore time “

I agree , I don’t see the issue with dating a single mom for bedroom fun and nights out etc and even long term companionship. But as you say and I whole heartedly agree, don’t cohabitate, don’t remarry and don’t under any circumstances try and parent their kid , that’s kids new school uniform is between her and the baby daddy .

Cheers , I can work on a few things , problem is I feel so busted by her , I don’t think I have what it takes to date anyone else . I miss the chilling out watching a movie and a nice dinner together (although it rarely happens as she always had something more important to concern herself with . ) I’m old now 42 and feel I’ve definitely missed the change to have a happy family life , trying to “radically “ accept that at the moment .

It’s such a screwed up situation. She would never had stopped the devaluation. But I feel kinda sick with loneliness and anxiety now , I don’t know what’s worse , my prayer is that over time I’ll get better and better and be thankful I made that decision . All I do now is sit back and think of the relationship with rose tinted glasses . Also my boy is constantly asking to do things as a family and why we can’t all be together. Absolutely breaks my heart

This is the thread I needed to read . Me and my ex had everything but all I actually wanted was respect and kindness! Simple stuff . She just couldn’t give it to me, but she could to every other Tom, Dick And Harry

I left because she had no respect and treated everything I did with contempt , I sacrificed careers , friends , hobbies and my self respect many times and lost my values and a decent human being and she and was often cruel in strange psychological ways . So one day during one of these episodes I left . Married 7 together for 12 , one little boy . This was 18 months ago , I was doing ok till about 6 months ago when she got to another relationship, all I can think of is the good things , I’m no wh…

Yeah bro, I’ve sorted all that, I’m actually in a good position now , I have a health issue that’s cropped up, hopefully that’s what is effecting me moving forward. Taking ages to get a diagnosis perhaps this is making me ruminate about the ex wife etc . Dunno
