Happy Father’s Day to you. Your story is eerily similar to mine. Se left me for an old “friend” who is a recovering heroin addict with neck tattoos. He knocked her up before we we even finalized the divorce. My friends often ask me why I’m not an alcoholic after what I’ve been through. My response is that my kids need a good role model in their lives. God knows their mom is a train wreck. I’ll be damned if I let them turn out like her. Hang in there man. It gets better.

I’m in my 40’s. Most of my friends are married and need to get permission from their wives to hang out with the boys. If I want to go kayaking, hiking, fishing, take a road trip or just go out to a bar and watch a game, I just go. I don’t need to get permission from anyone. I enjoy doing things alone because I can chose when to go and when to leave. If my friends want to join me they know they are welcome at anytime.

FYI: programmers are in high demand right now and will continue to be in the future. You will likely be able to find a job in programming even if you don't have a degree in it. This is according to a friend of mine who graduated with a computer science degree and is working in the field along with many young people who skipped college and taught themselves how to code.
