How self-centered are you?? There can be more than one person who matters

I don't know where you get that, but that's not true. I know of senior couples with adult children still very much in love. My hisband and I are still a very involved romantic couple four years after we became parents. And the point of another parent is not to support you, it's for both to support the children. Including when the other parent is dysfunctional or dangerous. That's one of the many problem I've witnessed with single parents by choice : making it about themselves, with no one to cal…

That's actually not true. Even after controling for other variables, first among them poverty, the various indicators of success and well being in children of single mothers are still significantly lower. As a parent myself, I think that's quite evident. Two parents can support each other, give each other breaks, watch for dysfunction in each other, step up when needed. Even then raising kids is not easy. Extended families were more adapted to the reality of children. Single parenthood by choice…

The "gladiator fallacy" is an i teresting concept, I'd like to see research into it. The "courtesan fallacy" seems like absolutely standard radfem "objectification" narrative. Otherwise known as oppression olympics bullshit. Wearing pretty dresses and jewelry and getting attention for your looks is not oppression. Having the option of living off of this is an advantage compared to not having the option. (Outside or slavery and human trafficking, which are not specific to women, obviously.)

It's the Guardian. The fact they used "boys" and not "children" is already extraordinary, but they at no point hint at any conscience that it would have not happened the same way had it been working class girls. Of course class is the main factor here. This doesn't happen to rich boys. But it doesn't happen with such impunity to poor girls either.

"Working class boys". Working class is the identified discrimination factor here, not boys.

Agree with almost all of this, but not a fan of the term "sealioning". It's a term originated from feminist Reddit, based on a cartoon where a person is outwardly racist towards sea lions. The sea lion attempting to address the odious behaviour with civility is framed as the actual problem. It's an ode to feminist unaccountability. "If you're offended by kill all men, it's proof you are the problem" kind of logic. Malevolent characterisations of entire groups on the public place deserve scrutiny…

It's easy to ignore reality when you're talking in theory. The thing is, this is not theory, and UN Women is immensely influencial. The UN has commited gendered atrocities in the past. It evacuated women and girls, not men and boys from Srebrenica, and they all were massacred. They provided food aid to women only in Haiti in 2010, and that led to countless misery and violence still going on today. We know from the past what "centering women and girls means" it means letting men and boys die. Tha…

The current obsession of feminism with masculinism and the manosphere is giving massive publicity to an until now almot non-existent movement. They're Barbara-Streisanding us to prominence. Of course they're trying, and largely succeeding, to get the movement to be treated as terrorist without any basis to do so (which shows the insane institutional power of feminism), so maybe repression will win. It often does. I however believe in the disobedience of teenagers. In the long run, they might hel…

UN women is one of the most hateful organisations on the planet. Very few people know that or even made the connection, but they're basically responsible for the downfall of Haiti. When the 2010 earthquake ravaged the island, the UN attempted a distribution methode pushed for by the women's rights "experts". Distribute food only to women, enforced with weapons, because women share and men don't, and men intimidate and rob women at distribution sites (actual explanation provided). This lead to a …

Thanks! Fascinating response. I'm sure quality research on the subject would go a long way to differenciate biology from socialization in these phenomena, and probably end up proving what you argue and I believe: that social conditioning, both conservative and feminist, are amplifying women's trauma, minor and major, and greatly amplifying len's major traumas.

Agreed. That being said, when comes time to design criminal laws and set the thresholds for misdemeanor, felonies and crimes a common baseline of severity has to be established. Or we could go by individual consequences, but that's hardly manageable. More histrionic victims would bring harsher sentences rather than those who suffer more.

The fag-hag/gbf dynamic is deeply unequal. Usually the gbf is finding a friend where he would otherwise have none, and turns into a surrogate boyfriend, providing validation, affection, hip image and a security service while getting very little of that in return. Then when a long term boyfriend or some other more important endeavour comes, he's lost his purpose and is quickly dismissed. Ask a bunch of thirty-something gays. Happened to every gay guy/straight woman fusional relationship I've know…

Absolutely. Actual rape is ignored for men while minor inconveniences are blown out of proportion for women. I recently discovered "sexist violence" encompasses tasteless jokes and uncomfortable stares. It's insane. There's an argument often used by both conservatives and radfems that men just don't get as easily traumatized. I wonder if there's some truth to it. I'm sure not to the extent of the disparity of treatment, but to some extent? On the other hand, if it is real, it might be entirely c…

That's it. Putting everything in the same bucket for ideological purposes is making us unable to manage situations adequately, socially conditioning people to be traumatized by events that don't have to be traumatizing, while also ignoring actual traumas because they don't fit the narrative. That being said, is there a gendered difference? Do women get more easily traumatized by the same acts, as is often argued?

I'm of two minds on this. On the one hand, rape absolutely does happen to men, has severe mental repercussions, and is scandalously ignored. On the other hand we need to stop inflating the notion of "assault" and over-evaluating the consequences of minor acts. Having someone put their hand on your thigh or ass, or steal a kiss or any other such fleeting moments is traumatic only if society convinces you it is. It happened to me multiple times when I was younger, from much older people. I'm good.…

Have you noticed the sexual-violence-hyper-awareness generation is also the most lonely and the most anxious ever? They've been taught to fear each other, to be on the look out for reason to reject one another, fo red flags, icks, signs of "toxicity", and various behaviors they've been trained to attribute the worst possible intentions to. This is a bunch of bullshit. A relationship is a balancing act between diverging needs and wants. If you can't open your mind to things for the sake of the person you're with, it's not much of a relationship. Have your boundaries pushed. Expand your horizons. Grow, discover.

If we must talk about gay men being thrown out when not useful, we need to talk about the LGBT movement. We are the largest battalion, we did most of the fighting, but now it's all about intersectional feminism and hierachies of oppression. We have ostensibly become "the straight white men* of the movement", "toxic", "misogynistic", "privileged" and largely put in an artificial minority position through gender quotas in our own organizations. And of course the main rights to be still fought for …

How is a limited stock market analysis tool designed to offer a shortcut for investors. In any way related to sociology? And where did I say you said women don't have hookups? I'm saying your explanation is based on abusive generalisations, which you admit yourself in your edit.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/02/26 10:49 AM

I don't think this is true. As many have pointed out, both men and women can be into hookups or not, depending on the individual and the period in their lives. "Demisexual" is just people trying to surf on the trendiness of the LGBT+ movement. They label their vanilla, nothing special sexuality as somehow an oppressed identity because they want to be special and talk about themselves. It's narcissism, nothing more.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/02/26 11:10 AM

Those two assumptions are quite uncertain. Poverty is not bound to disappear. I wish it were, but the trajectory is clearly not there. Rich societies have prostitution too, including in large scales. The Netherlands are a destination for sexual tourism, for example.

Intersectionality is reductive. It reduces individuals and their experience to a set of arbitrarily predefined identities, with an "oppression value". Its policy proposals are therefore always aimed at identities, not situations. Priority employment for the lesbian black millionaire over the homeless straight white man. It reduces complex social mechanisms to a single-scale "oppression value" that is not even defined beyond broad, emotional language. This looks like the product of a self-centere…

I've at one point in my career cooperated with an association of sex workers. They want legalization and regulation. They don't want to be treated as victims by default, but be protected from the risks of their job, like anybody else. They want to do their job, be able to choose to do it or not, have options to get out if they so desire, get support (especially medical) when doing it, and choose the conditions in which they are doing it. It means they should be able to get help without judgement…

You mean, by discussing Rosa Luxembourg and other thought leaders? I'm not sure. It can be a gateway to discussing wider ideological questions as a framework regarding men's issues I suppose. I didn't make the original post. I don't like feminism co-opting socialism, it's been a very effective strategy to neutralize it, so I came in defense of the honour of my friend Rosa,.

The socialist framework offers a different way of understanding gendered dynamics and power relations, away from "men as oppressors, women as oppressed" that has become hegemonic and is (wrongly) presented as "marxist". Bear with me we'll get there. Socialism is a political ideology (or a family of ideologies) based on the marxist worldview, intending to put an end to inequality (or minimize it) Marxism is an analytical framework that tells us the force that powers history is material reality ("…

Rosa Luxembourg was not a feminist, she was an outspoken antifeminist. She was a socialist organizer a'd a marxist theorist, with some action in regard to women's groups, among many and more important other things. Feminists try to claim the fight for gender equality as synonymous with feminism. It's not. Feminism is a movement, made up of people, organizations and tendencies deeply rooted in bourgeoisie. Yep. Same behaviour, different perception depending on the gender of the person doing it. I believe it's the core of most debates about gender. We exaggerate the differences by evaluating male actions as more consequential than identical female actions, good or bad.

It's a little insane to act like it's a male thing to choose their partner's clothes or interfere in their social life. Those behaviours are clichés of the controlling girlfriend in popular culture for a reason. I'm not saying men don't do it. I'm absolutely saying women do it at least as much. Girl, no. Rizz is 100% a thing. I've got it and that's because I don't care, because I'm gay. Most not completely ugly and somewhat socially proficient gay dudes can tell you it's super easy to chat up women. When we were young and little assholes my husband and I would play at that, see how easily we could get a girl willing to smoosh. Pretty easily it turns out. Feminism, as its name implies, is a movement that sees gender equality as about women, synonymous to women's rights. Equality for some people only is not equality at all. Therefore I see feminists as intruders in the left. Unwitting agents of the CIA on a mission to destroy solidarity between the working class by sowing division through hate. You cannot actually be a leftist and be a feminist. A leftist is a marxist, and marxism-feminism is a misnomer. An actual marxist believes we're all in thi…

This is marginally better than the benevolent sexism inventory, but that's not saying much. The benevolent sexism inventory is bullshit like I've rarely seen it. Of course I wouldn't. This whole "don't tell women to smile" thing is supremely bizarre to me. Telling someone to smile is almost always good advice. Both your mood and the mood of people around you improves when you smile. You're more likely to have positive, constructive behaviours when you smile, and more likelybti get what you want from others. It's life's cheat code. That's a very optimistic view of how power works. Many issues are dealt with without the public ever becoming aware. Trans rights is a good example: they have been progressing steadily, especially in Europe, for the last four decades, and only started to stall once awareness rose.

Circumcision is a systematic human rights abuse on children, it is indeed one of the worst issues of modern societies. Men have historically been trapped into the provider role, so it means they must not care about their kids. It is thus entirely fair that the justice system kidnaps their kids and they should stop complaining. Are you sure this is a position you want to have?

Is performing masculinity still a thing most adult men do where you live? I might have a skewed perspective because I live in a very open society even for western standards, but I was under the impression this was not something most men did anymore, at least not to the extent you describe, except maybe in very rural, very underprivileged or very religious settings.

You're not alone. My whole life I had to live "you're one of the good ones". It used to be from conservative small minded people who decided I was masculine enough for their taste. Now it's from supposedly open minded leftists, and it's worse because it feels like a betrayal. In both cases it's people putting themselves above you, in a position of judging the validity of you and all the people like you. It's condescending as fuck. My god the "I'm a nice guy" part was so cringe. It's a little bit sad to think of these writers who can only parrot social media platitudes. Both episodes were textbook feminist misandry. Men (at least straight white men) can only be buffoons, villains of both. Women on the other hand can never be completely flawed. "Diverse" men are pure but unimportant secondary characters. It is a tendency we've seen a lot of these past few years and I'm pretty sick of it. Good news is it seems to be slowly r…

Ecco's ur-fascism check list item number 8 : The enemy is both strong and weak. Exactly. Intersectionalism is a trojan horse. A way for feminism to insert itself in any movement, tell men to "sit back and listen", take control and use it to further thebpatriarchy narrative. It's never about the less fortunate, and always about women in any unfortunate groups. It does not elevate the voice of the voiceless, it silences men among them. What about homeless women? What about female victims of war? What about autistic girls? They have it intersectionnaly worse by definition, let…

You were explicitly not using the past tense. "Lesbians absolutely have dealt with and still deal with similar bigotry as gay men." In many places around the world today gay men and boys get executed, jailed, tortured or even forced to medically transition gender (in Iran). And historically it happened on a much larger scale. That's not at all similar. Were you using a motte and bailey strategy or is there something I don't get?

Feminism is some women manipulating most women against men. Those few beneficiaries of feminism care about power, not women. Most women don't benefit from feminism. It has made them paranoid, alienated and lonely. Men and boys are certainly the targets and main sufferers of modern feminism, but women and girls are absolutely not better off because of it. "Society" has nothing to do with this. The arrangement is between two adults who decide together on what they expect from one another. Those stereotypes about gendered child rearing are popularized by the self-referential takes of people who don't have kids or are too self absorbed to notice who their kids are. The opposite side did not even have access to such hellish weapons. This was a severe case of "crime against humanity as a weapon of war".

I sometimes wonder whether female influence and power was kept private by society for good reason - it's simply too destructive and all-consuming to be allowed public or widespread impact. Isn't that fair though? Women get away with saying things about women men never would. Even on an individual level, you can say things about yourself others would never be socially accepted to say. I've worked in social services my whole life. People in the lower rungs of the population also tend to date across wide age gaps. I do not have the math skill to understand the intricacies of this, but I also seem to be missing the stakes as you present them. What's wrong with the serial rapist theory? One aspect I think might be overlooked is resilience to discrimination. Gay boys know they are undesirable for unfair reasons and will be treated unfairly. Growing up even though I didn't consciously know I was gay, I knew I was different and hated on because of it (I knew all the gay slurs before I knew what they meant). And I knew it wasn't fair. Male stereotypes hurt a lot of boys who don't fit and are not allowed to cross the stereotype the way "tomboys" are. Agreed the sentiment is expressed in a pretty sexist way, but i seems to me it's more a question of form than substance. Men do function similarly to other men in a way women don't, obviously, and that makes relationships between men in some ways easier than hetero relationships. Could be possible if we're talking unsubstantiated allegations against higher-ups, or maybe repeated demonstrable false accusations. Maybe.

I don't like sharing exact info. It's dangerous to be associated with men's rights, and it's a small country. That being said I'm not sure we're "more evolved". I don't understand the phenomenon. I'm prone to think it is not about being "uncivilized" but about feelings of despair. A judgemental attitude might be an addition to the problem. I'm not even sure the behaviour exists to any significant extent to be entirely truthful, save from western tourists in arab countries. My only source on that…

This "catcalling" conversation is always so weird to me. I suppose my country's culture does not promote it, because I've witnessed it maybe five times in my 40 years of existence, always by teenagers. Plus drunk people who do it in bar streets, though I don't think it counts: drunk people of either gender in party settings shout all kinds of things to all kinds of people. I've lived everywhere too: big citiy, mid city, small city, tiny village, downtown, midtown, uptown, rich area, poor area. I…

I am really happy you felt comfortable posting here. The men's rights movement is (or should be) about gender equality for everyone, even men and masculine people. What we fight is gynocentrism, not women. As you clearly point out, women do suffer from it. Even the entitled assholes who blow you off are not doing great. An eternal feeling of unsatisfaction because "you deserve better" is not a life I envy.

Men's rights is about equality. - Male-only drafts are unequal. - Thinking in terms of "real men are this or that" is unequal. - Equality is not punishment, even when it means equal responsibilities. Women absolutely could go to war. Child soldiers as young as 10 years old are physically capable of going to war. Child soldiers are an atrocity, women soldiers are not. Women are adults. You will not find a men's rights subreddit that will tell you one gender should have rights or responsibilities …

This sub doesn't talk much about violence. It does talk about the different treatment different forms of violence receive depending on the gender of the victims and/or perpetrator, but that's a very different thing. The difference between "patriarchy theory" and heteronormativity is that one is a conspiracy theory and the other is an actual phenomenon. Heteronormativity is the notion that to be normal and acceptable is to live a classical heterosexual lifestyle. It was a very strong social norm throughout the modern era until the very end of the 20th century in the west. The only acceptable and legally protected way of life was husband and wife. The only other options were priest/monk/nun or celibacy, thoug…

I can be on board with quotas if they are in the interest of the work, not the worker. Male or female nurse doesn't change a thing, so quotas aren't legitimate. On the other hand patients often have a preference for the gender of their therapist as it can affect how they can connect. On top of that, the study of the mind can only be biased if mostly one type of mind does it. So quotas of either gender are legitimate when it's demonstated gender balance brings a significative improvement. Teacher…

If a couple makes a choice together, they have to face the consequences of that choice together. They are a team, individual players don't score. You should split everything acquired after the marriage 50/50 in case of separation. That's the normal rule in my country. Everything you had before is yours alone, everything acquired together is owned together. That's fair. If he doesn't want to be a team he doesn't want to be married. There's a lot to unpack here. My main concern is that all of these items are either about both genders or about women only. Men just don't exist autonomously. Equality is for women, and women only. Men can be collateral beneficiaries at best. My second is that it's a very arbitrary selection of items. It reads like authors treating their personnal opinions as an objective scale. Women are still more right wing. It's just that the "left" has become right wing. Right wing means upholding the current social order and elites. That's what women are attracted to: stability, safety and morality. They dislike the subversive, they like purity cultures. Men like the subversive, the struggle. They like macho ideologies that position themselves as a fight against some menace, and they dislike moral authority. This used to be the left, now it's the right. This is why men like sci fi…

I'm not sure women are the limiting factor in our birth rate, at least in Europe where there is maternity leave and other support. Most of the childless women I know wish they had children, they just can't seem to find someone to have them with. And they don't want to be single mothers because it's a terrible idea, for both the mother and the kid. (Also, as a proud father, I must say you don't need to choose between dreams and children. Children are the dream. Work is work. A tiny minority of pe…

Having myself become a gay dad through surrogacy, I can attest it's a struggle. Probably because we did that in a country where it's much rarer and unregulated, but also because we were men. Not gay men, just men. I don't believe that a single straight man would even have been considered for the process. Aside from my difficult personnal experience, it's clear it's about men because the political debate around regulating it is stalled by the conundrum of : women gotta stick together, it's a beau…

"Rape culture" as we mostly use it now, like many other terms of the newspeak lexicon, is a distortion of a legitimate term that means something else entirely. "Rape culture" originally referred to the way the american prison system (and society in general) treats the rape of male inmates as an expected part of their sentence. That's a true and legitimate problem we all know about ("don't drop the soap lol"). "Rape culture" as feminists use it, meaning the widespread normalisation of rape in our…

Setting aside the article, which is cliché postmarxist propaganda, the fact that men are not signing up anymore is very significant news for men's rights. When something affects the US Army's ability to function, that somethings becomes a worldwide priority. Multinationals might be powerful, but it's the US Army that is running the show. If it thinks men's issues being too overlooked will hurt its ability to recruit, men's rights have a good chance of becoming a political priority. 🤞

People working in law are the first to doubt. We see that shit on a daily basis, plus we've been trained on fair trial principles. I suppose american elected judges might be different, as well as other western nation's constitutionnal court judges, who are often politically appointed. For the most part the legal profession objects at the erosion of fundamental principles.

Many young gays suffer, often without realizing it, from low self-worth. They're so afraid nobody actually loves them that they hang on to people who give them little, giving these freeloaders all they can to make them stay, expecting only basic levels of attention in return. They feel it's a fair trade because in their mind the alternative is being alone. Do not be like that. It takes litteral decades to heal from people-pleasing behaviour. Agreed. Last week's series of elections has shown us that. Post modernism happened as a consequences of the maccarthyist purge of universities from marxists. It views the world in an inverted way compared to marxism. Marxism (as a scientific theory, not as a political movement) also known as historical materialism, says that ownership of the means of production is power, and that cultural constructs reinforce that ownership, and are the consequence of it. For example racism was spread in western societies as a justification of the native american enslav…

He did betray her. Sure bodily autonomy is definitely a human right, but marriage is an engagement you make. Your spouse should be informed by law of such things. On the other hand she has a clear problem with equality and respect for him and their child. Their child is not hers to abduct and raise on her own, as she states she did and plans to do.

I understand where you are coming from, but a child's genetic patrimony is a part of him, and he should have a right to know. Just like a father should have the right to know if a child is actually his. What you are defending is a right for people to lie to others about some of the most fundamental things about themselves. A right for mothers to trap random men into raising a child that isn't theirs, and to lie to their children about their own genetic patrimony, the illnesses that go with it, a…

There are many child rearing philosophies that do not involve either "man up" not "sit back and listen". I have mine, but it's a vast topic. Regarding gender in education I do not believe we should either try to neutralize the subject, nor make it a thing. Children are individuals and we should treat them as such. They will express gendered expression very early (if gender is a social construct, it is heavily based on biology). As parents my opinion is that we should not try to put them down for…

I realized a female friend of mine was actually on my side and not just humoring me when she brought up some male issue herself (the spanish gender courts) and was riled up by it. When we talk about our problems, we often have in the back of our heads that the person listening is just being polite, and might vent about it to someone else later, complaining that there is something wrong with us. Bringing up our issues (collective or individual) spontaneously can help with that fear.

Some girls said he made them feel uncomfortable and that was enough for the governing body to banish him in the middle of the night, ban all contact, and publicly brand him as a sex offender. I would go a step further and say that men's advocacy needs a place for trans women. Aside from the medical/mental health issues related to being trans specifically, the issues they face are mostly men's issues. I know some of them can be awful to men in their advocacy, but there are male feminists too. Trans women face issues essentially when they are treated as men. That's our problem too. Belgium has had policies to indirectly favour women and girls for years. Just last year a "study" about multi choice testing disfavouring girls (already by far in the lead) made the rounds. Cue politicians advocating to banish these tests. You can discriminate without ever writing gender into law.

Not in Belgium though. We don't have gendered scholarships. Scholarships are income based and tuition is about 800€ per year. This is not about money. Our education system is heavily tilted against students with more independent and active behaviours, who happen to be mostly boys. Having been through the systel myself I habe terrible memories of teachers just outright ranting about boys being bad students, lazy and troublesome.

Women were not, in any society ever, treated as possessions. Slaves of either gender were treated as possession. They could be bought sold, injured or killed. This never was the case for women in general. It's a false equivalency that's repeated way too often, and it does not serve us to pretend a lie is the truth to seem open-minded or magnanimous. It 's a trap set by american radical feminism to put themselves ahead of slave descendants in the line of equality.

I came upon a book called "you will be a feminist, my son" at a friend's house who had recently become a parent. It reads like a narcissist's playbook. Nothing is my fault or responsibility, everything is yours, child. I fear for these boys and girls raised by toxic and entitled parents who get validated by our dumb society. I do not fear for the MRM though. The kids who don't get broken beyond repair by this will hate their mothers and their ideologies with a passion.

I don't believe the point is so much about content than it is about intent and methodology. It's unacceptable for the governmenent to try and decide what people can and can't think, at the very least without solid safeguards for the targeting of only truly extreme opinions. This report smells a lot of "I disagree, so this is terrorism"

All professionnals know to keep up appearances where it counts, such as public statements they can easily be attacked on. They do slip though, like in "They can be experiencing violence themselves or be impacted by the violence being perpetrated on a loved one, for example, their sister, mother, brother or friend." No father of course could be impacted, because that would suggest a mother could be perpetrating.

Many people coming after a public figure almost at the same time usually means they are grifters. Never forget Michaël Jackson was branded a pedo until his death, yet the "victims" later admitted having been pressured to lie by their parents.

It is based on the basic rules of fair trial: you cannot be convicted for something that was not a crime at the moment you did it. Was it normal that it was not a crime for a woman to rape a boy back then? No. Does she deserve her conviction? Yes. Should she be exhonerated? Yes. Remember: when the rules of fair trial wane, men go to jail for things they shouldn't.

Even though the harrasser is a woman and she does some pretty brutal and menacing things, the movie magic is set up so that you never fear for the main character's actual safety. She's played for cringe and pity, minimising any sense of menace that her actions should elicit.

I liked this series because it is nuanced: it doesn't show the evil perpetrator and the virtuous victim, which is what we would have gotten if the genders were reversed. Nuance is not allowed when it comes to female victims and male perpetrators. Maybe this is what will save us in the end: artists will want to talk about male victims because it allows a freedom more conducive to art. I don't imagine a movie like Gone Girl would be greenlit by anybody nowadays. That being said, it still shows wom…

The diversity of answers is fascinating. My understanding of emasculation is the situation in which a man is prevented, usually through an imbalanced relationship, to occupy a place as a man in his social unit that is specific to manhood. When a husband has no decision power in his own couple and his partner decides everything and even speaks for him, he is emasculated. When a man is not allowed to display authority over his own children, he is emasculated. I believe the term is of adequate use …

That's the original meaning of "fragile masculinity": the notion that being a man, unlike being a woman, is a position that can be and will be questionned if you stray away from gendered expectation. Men have to constantly prove their worthiness of being treated "as a man", and therefore as a human being. Modern identity politics has worked hard to make equality a zero-sum game. I don't quite understand why. It's not just here, they'll attack gay male spaces just the same, as well as transmeds. It's a reference to Niccolo Machiavelli's book The Prince. It's a short italian rennaissance treatise on politics, essentially praising a monarch for acting in a purely pragmatic and self interested way, without any care for good. Sadly enough, we've associated the author with the behaviour even though the book is satyrical, and a scathing critic of his former bosses who had previously tortured him, the Medici family, written in exile.

That's a thing that is usually completely missed in the conversation about the islamic veil. It's not a chain, it's a shield. A shield from adult responsibility. A shield from having to interact with strangers, especially in your home. The larger the veil, the more infantilized the woman under it. Intersectionalism is a branch of radical feminism. It can never be anything else than what it was created as. A tool for feminists to take over other social movements, black and gay especially. Intersectional feminism having discarded the oppressor/oppressed model is wishful thinking at best. Practically, intersectionnal feminism is a set of prejudice that all boil down to oppression olympics with the cishet white male as the automatic loser.

It depends on what you mean by "the left". Sure there are people who keep on fighting for marxist values although they have recently most almost all notoriety in Europe (and long ago in North America), but it's because they have been pushed out of the political left by liberals in disguise. The third way, realpolitik social democrats dominate the so called leftist parties nowaday.

Probably true and also catastrophically stupid. The ledtft is dying in Europe because it has stopped focusing on economic issues to shift towards virtue-signaly "social' issues. The average Guardian reader might be impressed, but the average voter will not be.

JK Rowling is not, as the narrative goes, transphobic. She's a biomisandrist: she despises anyone born with a y chromosome, including but not limited to trans women. In conclusion, screw her and her supremacist takes. They are uninformed fantasies she's able to broadcast thanks to her notoriety and money.

Preference is usually linked to material conditions. In China the girls leave while the boys stay, bringing in a wife. Having a girl in the one child policy system meant you were going to grow old and die alone. Are there material conditions of the sort tied to the girl preference of Bangladesh?

Recovery is not months, but maternity leave is. Most of the leave is about taking care of the child. Plus a recovering mother sure could use the help of dad so she can rest. In most countries dad actually has a small leave amounting to the mother's recovery period. The public debate around this is not actually about recovery, it's about territoriality. I gave birth, it's my child. I get to bond.

What you call purity is anything but. Children are not pure or innocent. I'm glad you had a fun childhood, but you were very shelter3d, obviously. Children are gross. They are attracted by the disgusting. They eat worms, are very curious of their own and each other's anatomy. There is a pause between 7 and 11, but those years aside, they are very curious about sex and do touch themselves from and early age. Children are cruel. I would say it's more of a phase symptomatic of the specific issues young gays face. Accepting homosexuality/bisexuality involves rejecting strict gender roles and embracing something in you typically seen as more "feminine". This usually happens at an age when identity is in construction. Teenage boys tend to flock together around masculine standards to a degree that is not representative of what being an adult male is. For a young gay/bi, this makes it hard to go through your journey of self d…

There are so many. The ones I see as most threatening are everything involving children. That's when the contradictions become out of control. Feminism is supposedly about freeing women from their restrictive motherly role, but they will never ever ever let go of their supremacy on children. Holy cows are the death of free debate. The "right of women to choose" is not the pillar of the left. The principle of equality is the pillar of the left. True. Barbie is a magistral demonstration. I find it odd how we seem to collectively have forgotten maoism while you can't read seven words without coming upon fascism or nazism. It is eerily similar to present-day postmodern leftism, with their shared obsessions with "educating", oppressors, deconstructing culture and negating factual reality. The story of maoism shows us how cruel and unfeeling the woke mindset truly is, it should be brought up more.

I would agree with your reservations if this was a suicide prevention ad. As a work safety ad, I thinks it hits the right notes. We often forget to contemplate death in the eyes, and the easiest way to do that is to see it through the eyes of those who lost loved ones. This ad uses a wife because most victims are men, most of whom are heterosexuals. This ad is not about "don't kill yourself you've got things to live for", it's about "don't kil yourself or your coworkers, death is a tragedy".

Does he have a place to go? That's question no.1. Domestic abuse victims often have to leave their homes (it's hard to kick someone out, especially with authorities not on your side). Male victims often end up homeless. From then on live is a vortex pulling you down. What you can do is make sure there is a place he can go live in for several months without warning. Without that, there is a big obstacle to him leaving.

I would guess it's a sampling bias. Reddit attracts a certain type of argumentative, opinionated, easily excitable people (not excluding yours truly). It is true that some subsets of society are very radfem dominated, especially academia, the university-educated, students the most of those, and career politicians on the left. Those are groups that have a tendency for narcissism and enjoy feeling like rebels without having to actually rebel against anything that could hurt them. An imaginary patr…

Just 20 years ago it was a known and accepted fact in the community that lesbians were spared most of the hate. But then "political lesbians" who had chosen to be the crazies of radical feminism rather than participant of the gay movement saw how insanely succeful that movement had become and decided to colonize it. We've essentially been kicked out of our own advocacy and they control most of the message now. Like all radfems they are great at choosing their conclusion first, thinking up a reas…

It's because men crave meat. Simple as that. We need a lot more protein, we were in charge of hunting. Nature made us crave meat so we would risk our lives to kill the mammoth. It is indeed "umanly" to be vegan/vegetarian. Which I see as a good thing personaly. Being strong enough to overcome your primal urges is laudable. Most people have a problem with anything not in the norm. That's all. Btw this is coming from someone who has been vegetarian for 25 years waaaay before the word was even widel…

I'm 38. I manage the legal department at an NGO. Most of my team is women, so is my boss and most colleagues. No problem with that. Sometimes the less useful departments (HR, com) come up with inanities such as gender mainstreaming policies, but most workers, most of them women, see that for what it is: wasted time and energy. I wouldn't read too much into this except if the context mandates it. It is a fact that gay men tend to have, on average, some traits that are more typically feminine, such as we see colour better (I swear some straight guys will finish a paint job with a different shade and not even realise) but have poorer hand-eye coordination (as Will & Grace aptly put it, gays don't catch). And it is true that some things appeal to a mostly "girls and gays" demographic, like some types of music (pop, ballad…

One of the steps of me becoming an MRA was a video from a polish fashion historian about corsets, where she argued that corsets had long been presented as oppressive because "men" always have to attack and ridicule women's things. "I'm not like the others" is a fundamental part of growing up. First you dissociate from you parents and fall into the early teenage peer pressure conformity. Then you realize that's lame and want to be "not like the others", opening up a space to discover who you are as an individual. Anybody who never went through a "not like the others" phase is likely stuck in a juvenile phase. In the case of women and girls there's an aggravated risk of that. Working-class men are the core force of any revolution. By relegating them to the margin marxist movements are essentially affirming their irrelevance.
