Cool, you are still wrong. You realise men outnumber women on dating apps by 3:1 at least, right? Most women aren’t on dating apps, and swiping on a dating app is not analogous to dating offline. That’s a weak sauce reason to deny all women in the world can experience something. Oh, and so you can understand an experience women have, but all women everywhere in all circumstances will never, ever understand being unwanted? All women everywhere forever all have options and no issues that may make …

Incorrect. Contrary to what men seem to think, women are not being hounded by suitors at all times and “being wanted” is not always (or even usually) a positive experience. Have you considered that fat, unattractive women exist? That deformed women exist? That women can have serious mental health issues? That women can be neurodivergent? That women maybe don’t want to be wanted as just a bag of fuckmeat? Counterpoint: men cannot understand being prey. Men cannot understand being just a body. Men…

So what are you saying? Because “women can’t understand [insert normal life experience here] and are lying if they say otherwise” will never not be a rancid take.

The red pill does the opposite of that though. It tears men down by telling them they’ll never be enough, it demonises and infantilises women, and it turns its followers into emotionally stunted, insecure rage monsters. What these people need is a therapist, not a cult.

This example says nothing about “hypergamy”. A psychiatrist should not be pursuing a relationship with their patients specifically because the relationship is unbalanced in favour of the psych. The real argument you’re making here is that men will take advantage of vulnerable people in their care while women won’t. The actual data shows most people couple up with someone who’s of a similar education level and economic status. “Hypergamy” is not a thing men need to constantly be obsessing about. …

Yeah, most stuff in fashion media is hella overpriced, but it’s more about finding the fit than anything else. It’s just for inspiration; seeing what is considered trendy and attractive, how certain cuts frame the body, how to accessorise, etc. Edit: Someone else recommended Pinterest. That’s also a really good place to look. I have some unusual proportions myself, so I know taking your measurements is a must. It’ll make your life so much easier. But your best option is to look for a tailor. Men…

I’d recommend looking at men’s fashion magazines, websites, and blogs for ideas. This can be your starting point from which you can begin to develop a style. Find something you like the look of and you can explore from there. The basics are to find colours that suit you and items that flatter your body shape. Don’t try to be too unique yet. Build up your style after you find some more simple clothing combos that you really like.

English is my second language so I'm not aware of the finer meanings of words, like picky, but I didn't mean to do that. Ah, fair enough. Fellow polyglot, definitely understand that. Yeah, to be picky does mean to be selective, but it's associated with childishness. I hope the culture could become healthier and less of a shit show where people compete for status and insult those who aren't as successful, I mean, that's really down to individual experiences. The fact is most people don't do that.…

Considering how complicated human interpersonal relationships tend to be and how people change as they get older, I’d be surprised if many humans could find someone they can stand to be around for the rest of their lives (without serious effort to make it work or not being able to safely leave), especially after their children are grown up and they’re past the point of making more. Like, how many lady gibbons need to have a serious talk with their gibbon husbands because they really don’t have a…

Dating is not a litmus test for value and framing it as such is one of those toxic dating behaviours I mention in my most recent comments to the other guy. We are not making a value judgment when we reject you. We’re not dating you because we deemed you “worthy”, like some sword-giving lake fairy. We do not bestow relationships unto worthy men. We’re dating you because we think we’d enjoy dating you. We could decide we wouldn’t enjoy that for a variety of reasons, including just not wanting to d…

As an addendum, I absolutely think men are more likely to abandon the idea of having standards because they view being single as a personal failure or because they just want any relationship, and just sort of flop into compatible relationships instead of actively seeking compatible partners. I also think “tournament behaviours” are heavily exaggerated in redpill and manosphere spaces because they’re not really a thing in real life. Women aren’t comparing men against other men. We’re comparing in…

I think the main issue is the term “picky”, which has clear negative connotations. Saying women are “picky” makes it sound like we’re children who refuse to eat their broccoli. The term is being used to imply that women’s selectiveness is unreasonable. I’m not arguing that women aren’t generally more selective than men. It’s obvious that we can be, but we’re not really “picky”. We will give a lot of men a shot. Going into a public place and looking around shows all kinds of people coupled up. Me…

Even if you meet all of those basic criteria, that is the bare minimum for a lot of women (as it should be) and not enough to make us romantically interested. It's not "picky" to want someone who is all those things but also a complete human person with other shit going on and whose company we actively enjoy. Men should want that too! Statistics show that women tend to pursue relationships with men in a similar economic and academic position as them with closely aligned personal values and goals…

It’s more that a lot of men expect women to settle for them so they sit on their hands waiting for their ideal woman to just be handed to them and won’t accept anything less. That’s how it used to work, after all, because a single woman literally couldn’t even open a bank account by herself. Men were required for women to live a life with any level of comfort or security. When this acquisition of a female specimen inevitably doesn’t happen and they’re expected to put effort into courting a woman…

I appreciate the clarification. I wasn’t sure if you were being serious or not, but felt that a serious answer was warranted because redpillers and their ilk put real stock in this weird animal biological essentialism stuff. On the topic of the end of all things, being an optimistic nihilist myself, I would say that the one thing that humans have over other animals is that we live on a little longer than them in the people who knew us and sometimes loved us. Everyone’s gonna die, but after my tu…

It’s not an irrelevant detail that humans actually think about and plan their actions in a way other animals do not. Humans are capable of controlling themselves. That's a monumental difference. Humans seek food because we literally need food to live. You will die if you don’t eat. Not sure why you brought this up. Plus, the fact that humans focus on the pleasure of eating differentiates us from other animals. It takes actual starvation to make a human eat like a wild animal. Huge swaths of huma…

Thank you! I’m very happy with him. :) He was really casual about asking. Something like “Hey, did you maybe want to grab a drink sometime?” No pressure and no desperation. Just a guy wanting to get to know me better. My boyfriend has told me he was feeling especially good about himself at the time, otherwise he wouldn’t have asked, so self-confidence and good self-esteem is definitely a factor.

But also you should go for it and at least ask even if you’re not 100% certain. My boyfriend and I met in the waiting room at the avian vet. I initiated conversation because I’m extremely outgoing and like learning about other people’s pets. We had a nice conversation about our respective birds and general small talk. It was obvious we had good chemistry, but we weren’t actively flirting. I dawdled a bit on the way out just to catch him before I left and he decided to take a chance and ask me ou…

And how do I do that? Education and career advancement, picking up a hobby or craft, going out and socialising regularly, developing a personal sense of style, writing a book, getting into a sport, getting involved with the community, etc. Any sort of personal development usually leads to an uptick in social status. What if you found a better looking man who had a similar personality as your husband? Why wouldn't you leave then? Because people aren't interchangeable and it doesn't work like that. For starters, I already have a partner I'm happy with so I'm not in the mindset of looking for a partner. He was there when I was looking and now I'm not looking anymore. It’s hard to explain, but I don’t need my boyfriend to be the hottest man alive to be attracted to him. He’s just my favourite human, both to be around and to look at. Objectively speaking, some of his traits are considered “unattractive”. He’s overweight, he’s got an underbite, and a bit of a big nose, but they don’t really register as negatives. They’re just kinda wrapped up in the package. I love him, so I love the way he looks. I’ve rejected conventionally better-looking men in the past beca…

I’ve always found it odd when people appeal to some sort of instinctual, base nature to explain human behaviour because humans’ whole thing is that our behaviour is driven by some kind of logic as opposed to instinct. Not necessarily good logic, but logic nonetheless. We second-guess our instincts constantly. We actively have to suppress them to function properly in polite society. Even when we give in to our more primitive drives, we still feel a need to logically justify them, and we get uncom…

No, the opposite is that scenario is being forced to go to the pound and being forced to take home a dog you don’t want, which, in this analogy, would still be rape since the dog is actually a man who wants to have sex with you. The idea that women can just have access to and date whoever they want makes no sense if you think about it. Women have lives. They have jobs and hobbies, meaning they have specific social circles, and need to eat, sleep, and shit just like you. Hell, women have emotions…

Women are individuals. Women as a group do not decide anything. And the alternative to women getting to choose who they love and have sex with is them being forced to marry and have sex with people. You’re advocating for rape. If the ideal associated with masculinity is toxic, then it’s toxic masculinity. It doesn’t matter who does what. The toxicity is the problem. And no, not all species have males competing over harems of females. Tons of species are either matriarchal or don’t have breeding …

Uh-huh, sure dude. You clearly didn’t logic yourself into this position, because if you did, you would not be claiming it must be the 100% truth of every person ever. That’s a dumb statement. Nothing is 100% true in every case, not even physics. Just look at how many “top men” have been divorced and tell me how your fantasy holds up? Maybe use your mind reading powers to see if they know a good therapist because you need one. “Watching people” is not some magical window into the true, secret lives of others. You’re just daydreaming about random people’s lives and then believing your own fantasies like a lunatic. Your sister is right. Uh-huh. Sure dude. Are you not embarrassed? Like, here you are frothing at the mouth at the idea that relationships don’t all revolve exclusively around the minutes-to-hours a sex session may take and that being a sugar daddy isn’t the foundation of a long-lasting relationship. Most redpillers and incels (and a lot of men in general tbh) don’t understand that a proper relationship is mostly non-sexual. Like, you aren’t just having sex and only do other stuff when you’re waiting to have more sex. Sex is great, but the whole point of a long-term partner is to create a unit to tackle life together. Most of your time should just be existing with this person, and you should enjoy it. They make everything about sex, when in reality it’s not, and then can’t get into or mainta…

Back when I was bartending, it was super obvious when a guy was trying a particular pick-up method or entered the interaction with certain assumptions about me. It was incredibly unsubtle, especially since a lot of them were just copying the words and actions of their favourite “guru”. I always got a kick out of calling them out and watching them squirm.

You specify not liking women, but it just seems like you don’t like anyone. I don’t think you even want to like people. And you still need functional social skills to have casual sex. You need good social skills, even. Your social skills are honestly more of a determinant than your looks. People don’t want to have sex with someone who openly despises them for no reason, no matter how hot you are.

We definitely still need our alone time to go do our own things, but we like being in each others’ presence more than anyone else. You need to be able to stand someone for any length of time if you want to be able to date people. The understanding is that you will spend time with your partner more than anyone else, and that requires that you actively like them.

No, not in the same way. My boyfriend and I are close in a way I’m not with my friends. He wants to spend his life with me. We talk about living together and how we’d handle raising kids. We talk about our joint futures. It’s significantly more intimate than I could ever be with a platonic friend. He knows me in a way they never could. He loves me.

The 80/20 rule specifically refers to the idea that 80% of women are only attracted to some top 20% of men. It doesn’t ever consider that the lack of opportunities could have something to do with there just being less women available to hook up with or date. It’s very specifically about women being super picky. So, no, you’re not really talking about the red pill’s 80/20 rule if that isn’t what you mean.
/r/ExRedPill06/04/25 08:02 AM

I mean, dating has always been annoying at best, so I don’t think we need something like the 80/20 rule to explain that. Meeting compatible people is hard (meeting any people can be hard) and there’s a lot of weirdos out there. Women just aren’t as interested in hooking up as men. Not because we don’t enjoy sex, but the risks outweigh the benefits and we’re socially conditioned against engaging in casual sex. Dating apps also skew heavily male, generally around 3 men for every 1 woman. The reaso…

There’s no evidence that the 80/20 rule is an actual, observable phenomenon. Who said anything about “societal views”? My point was that it would be a logistical nightmare. People wouldn’t want to hook up and date like that because it would be decidedly unfun.
/r/ExRedPill05/04/25 09:46 PM

By and large, the vast, vast majority of humans are monogamous and prefer monogamy. Even ignoring that women absolutely would not want to share the same tiny pool of men (because holy shit what a nightmare), there’s no evidence that men would want to sleep with that many women (how would they even find the time). Logistically, it sounds miserable for everyone. The 80/20 rule only seems reasonable if you never consider how it would work in real life.

It’s called statistical thinking. It’s rational behavior to make choices based on probability of risk. You're not using statistical thinking, because that would mean you're weighing the likelihood of something. You are saying higher probability should be treated the same as certainty. I know from experience that you’re wrong about that. My parents “stayed together for the kids” and it was a dysfunctional nightmare. Bro, I have literally never heard of FLR before and I don’t think of relationships in terms of leaders and follows. Healthy relationships don’t have leaders and followers. It’s two people tackling life as a unit instead of handling it all as individuals. It’s about a mutual division of labour, not one person bossing another around. The fuck. By FLR, I assume you mean the woman is the breadwinner. Why would that change anything? Power still has no place in the relationship and she shouldn’t be using money as a means of domination and control. That’s abuse, no matter the genders of the people involved. Where’s the double-standard in the original comment? Hell, where was gender mentioned at all? Maybe you should ask yourself why you’re so reflexively defensive about this topic.

Hard agree. Redpill and PUA tactics are bullshit at best and actively manipulative at worst. The guys who buy into them don’t care who they date, they just want someone, anyone to date them, and they want to speedrun the process. They don’t want to waste time with all the “compatibility” and “having social skills” nonsense we normies keep prattling on about. Great idea! How do you propose men start advocating for social changes that would benefit them? What kinds of calls to actions would be effective for getting these guys to actually do something productive? Something I hear a lot from redpillers and incels is that “society” is the problem, but it’s really just another convenient excuse to sit around and do nothing except blame everyone else. And divorce rates fall significantly when couples get married a bit later, in their late-20s and early-30s. When sex is supposed to be abstained from until marriage, as is taught in large portions of the US, you get a lot of people marrying in order to finally have sex. This means people get married way too young to their first serious partner and end up growing into incompatible people or being too immature to handle such a serious commitment. Eventually the relationship becomes unsustainable a…

It’s both how you present yourself and how you engage with others. Self-assured people tend to have more open and relaxed body language, they’re at least comfortable when interacting with others, and they look like they take care of themselves and take some level of pride in their appearance. It’s about having a strong and definable presence. This takes different forms depending on the person, so beyond some basic stuff it’s largely something you have to figure out for yourself.

They’re not saying having male friends is bad. They’re saying having female friends is good. What do you mean “complain about women not doing things right”? What things? Who’s calling you gay?

I think that because the Red Pill pulls from this kind of weird idea of “traditional masculinity”, a lot of their views are similarly outdated, including on mental and emotional health. Back in the old days, therapy was for crazy people and whiners, and the only people taking psychiatric drugs were psychos and hysterical women. /s

From what I’ve heard from my boyfriend and other men, sex with a long-term partner is way more satisfying than sleeping around for similar reasons as it is for women. You know each others’ likes and bodies, you can communicate better, you’re not trying to impress them, you can say more easily say no, and you actually have a connection. It’s easier for it to be good. Like, yeah, it depends on the relationship and there’s not nothing to casual sex, but it’s definitely overrated.

Appreciation for one’s job is different than appreciation for a person, and appreciation for a person can be extremely variable depending on who they are to you. Yeah, you can be appreciative for things they’ve done but you can also appreciate that they exist in your space and that you get to be with them. How is it not adoration to appreciate just being in their presence? How are those things not connected? And again, what do you consider adoration? You talk a lot about what you don’t consider …

You can’t quantify things relating to individuals and relationships. They’re nebulous and weird. I can’t give you numbers on anything because those numbers don’t exist. They can’t. The problem with obsessing about numbers is that trends don’t matter on an individual level because you can’t know who exactly they apply to. You can’t apply them in any meaningful way. Women are individuals. You have to go out and meet them to know anything about them, and I don’t think you do considering how much yo…

My boyfriend is actually from Poland as well and he’s had some choice words about gender dynamics there, along with basically everything else about it. He jokes that if we ever have kids, we have to move back to Poland because he doesn’t want to rob them of the dream of someday leaving Poland. No, not really. That’s barely below average height and still taller than most women. I don’t think 1 or 2 inches really makes the cutoff for shortness. Like, it’s probably short for Northern/Eastern Europe, where men are 5’11 on average, but not for most of the Anglosphere.

Considering your last post, you seem to have recurring issues with black-and-white thinking and projection. Used to have a girl best friend that would send mixed signals of maybe more, was totally into her, showed total vulnerability and 100% honesty around her Was this a continuous sharing of your emotions or was it a single event where you laid it all out? Very true. My boyfriend previously got married young (and he’s tall, go figure) and, well, it’s pretty obvious how that turned out. They just didn’t have the experience or maturity to make that kind of commitment work at that point in their lives.
/r/ExRedPill09/07/24 04:58 AM

See, if you’d read the article, you’d know that it’s not “one person’s experience / a small amount of data”. It was a meta-study of 25 years of marriage data. I’m sorry your experience has been bad, but you shouldn’t blindly accept what people say about studies without actually reading them just because you agree with their conclusions. It’s bad form and it leaves you open to accepting distorted worldviews. Someone posting a study doesn’t means they did it in good faith.
/r/ExRedPill09/07/24 04:50 AM

The article OP linked doesn’t actually support his claim. It actually shows that shorter men have more successful marriages overall; they’re significantly less likely to get divorced, though they tend to get married later than taller men. Less attractive than literally not having a bottom jaw? Are you actually serious? My guy, it’s basically guaranteed that you’re more attractive than a man with half a face. You realise what you said sounds absolutely absurd, right? Do you not think this is a very clear sign that you have some severe body image issues?
/r/ExRedPill24/06/24 03:56 PM
6

It’s very unlikely that absolutely nothing about you appeals to anyone. The level of base attraction doesn’t have to be them thinking you’re the hottest guy ever. It could be as mundane as thinking your hair is a pretty colour or that you have thick eyebrows. I always bring this up, but my boyfriend has a friend who is basically missing his entire lower jaw, but he managed to get into a relationship and they’ve been together for years. It’s actually extremely difficult to appeal to zero people.
/r/ExRedPill24/06/24 06:11 AM
57

I mean, if the attraction isn’t there then it isn’t there. While yes, your perception of a person’s attractiveness can change as you get to know them, that doesn’t mean it will. Something people here also bring up is how you can not be into someone for reasons that aren’t anyone’s fault. It doesn’t mean you think she’s objectively unattractive to everyone or you’re a bad person or a porn addict, you’re just not a good match.

From what I’ve seen, they’re insanely insecure rather than openly bitter and angry. It’s played out on IncelExit repeatedly: an incel begins his recovery and ends up finding a girlfriend, and then just completely sabotages the entire thing because it turns out that everyone was right when they said that acquiring a female does not, in fact, magically fix someone’s deep-seated self-hatred and misogynistic beliefs. No. But nobody here is saying they do. You want to argue that women have it easier. You want to say that because men are more likely to message and approach women, women don’t have to do anything. But that’s not how anything works. In actual relationships, women have to also put in energy. The robots are to help avoid men pestering women for sex. Not vice versa. Why would that stop them though? Giving them a robot won't stop any of this because it's not about the sex; it's what the sex represents. Men already have other avenues to relieve themselves sans women's involvement and they still feel entitled to masturbate with a woman's body. I don’t understand redpillers’ obsession with social capital. No, it’s because losing one’s job is a traumatic event and now the unit is suddenly not making as much money as before. There’s no guarantee it’ll make you more successful. More attractive? Potentially. Probably. It’s certainly not a bad idea to lose weight if you’re morbidly obese, for a variety of reasons. Because love, like every other feeling, requires attention to be maintained. People stop being angry about a thing if they aren’t thinking about it. Then they get mad again when they remember. Same with sadness, or joy. If your needs aren’t being met by the person you love, you can come to resent them or feel lonely when around them, and that can make you stop loving them. No, we don’t just sit here and get relationships. Contrary to the fantasies of the manosphere, women don’t have an endless conga line of suitors awaiting their turn to ask them out. Yes, we’re more likely to get asked out than do the asking, but beyond that we have to be engaging and well-presented just as much…

Okay so apparently you can’t read because I said multiple times that men and women are different. If you can’t even properly engage with the responses you request, you’re a lost cause. Have a nice life, weirdo.

You’re shifting the goal post, but I will respond. How men and women process sex is highly influenced by culture and societal expectations, as well as their sense of personal identity. Basically every culture has different ideas on sex, and we know these ideas have been fluid throughout history. Many cultures have had structures that include more than two genders, and yet we act as though two has always been the default. You cannot act like women being less likely to have sex is some kind of bio…

Bro, nobody is arguing that sexual dimorphism isn’t a thing. Let’s approach this from your own bizarre logic: Human gentials are different so they can fit together for sex, and it feels good to do so. The differences in the sexes are specifically to facilitate sex and make it feel better so we have more of it. Boom. Checkmate.

What does that even mean or relate to how many people someone has slept with? How does this “biological functions” idea explain gay people? Or trans people? Or asexual people? Or hypersexual people? Or people who don’t want kids? Or neurodiversity? What about individual people’s social circles? Or the social conventions of their culture? What about religion? What about kinks? Or fetishes? Or sexual behaviours caused by trauma or mental illness? All of this is also rooted in biology. Humans are a…

It’s really great to see you finally say that you don’t actually hate women. And I mean that in a congratulatory way! That’s a huge deal considering how fundamental it seemed to your internal narrative around your struggles, and now you can actually begin to work on the core issues that were masked by your projected self-loathing. I’m honestly so here for all your progress, my dude. 🌟

Oh I dunno, maybe men could actually start having discussions about boundaries to kids so they don’t grow up thinking it’s ever a good idea to just follow around women until they acknowledge you. Or maybe men could emotionally support young boys so they aren’t a festering ball of horny rage who lashes out when women turn him down. Or maybe men could start working to help kids foster close friendships with the opposite sex so they become familiar with each other as human beings and not just abstr…

You’re spot on, my guy. I’m really proud of you for analysing the situation and coming to these conclusions because this is not something that quite a lot of men ever realise. On average, women aren’t avoiding interacting with men because we hate men or feel anything towards a specific man, we avoid men because we can’t tell who’s sane and who’s a Dave (or worse) just by looking at them. If men want cold approaching to work, they gotta do something about Dave.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
