This is good. Important to focus less on what you're saying and more on creating an emotionally charged discussion. Say stupid shit if you need to. I like to make fun of myself - shows you are well adjusted.

I'd caution against trying to be externally valuable as a primary motivator. It will lead you into a lot of productive activities but you're likely to crumble inside if you aren't getting the results you desire.

Put more simply: No zero days. Someone had a good post on this awhile back. Don't let days pass without making progress. I optimize my weeks, not my days, but the same principle applies.

This is why it's so much easier to get started - on anything - when you're young. Your life is much simpler, and I'm not just talking less about external responsibilities. It allows for what you call the "second phase of the cycle" to be navigated a lot easier. The single-most difficult internal struggle I had at 17 was to wake up on time for school. And yes some general angst about women. That's when I started teaching myself business. Now compare that with the 25-year old me, who has had multi…

As I type this I feel like I'm qualifying myself to you (or trying to sound cool, I promise that isn't the case), but regardless: I mastered a skill that incorporates a few major disciplines: long-term investing (I'm loathe to mention it since so many like to compare as soon as it is discussed). Within investing I have very few apparent peers outside of extremely successful people. Separately, I started a business with a friend (addiction treatment center) and employ doctors, therapists, and am …

You may enjoy this quote even more than I do: “Man is by nature a social animal; an individual who is unsocial naturally and not accidentally is either beneath our notice or more than human. Society is something that precedes the individual. Anyone who either cannot lead the common life or is so self-sufficient as not to need to, and therefore does not partake of society, is either a beast or a god.” –Aristotle, Politics

Very good timing on this post. It's become extremely apparent to me with my mental self-development. I don't have any peers who are at/near my age, and those who I considered peers a few years ago are a lot further behind me on the mountain now. I'm not at the peak, but I'm at least past base camp (where so many seem to get stuck). A few days ago I found myself asking a 50-something woman, who has worked on self-development her whole life and is similar to me in many ways, if she felt a mismatch…

Amen to that. Entrepreneurs are the only people who will work 80 hours/week to avoid having to work 40.

I'd say the exact same thing except that I'm 6'1'' and am self employed in a business I opened with a close friend - also 25 + saving/learning/reading/lifting. Cheers man, the future looks bright. I used to get criticized by family + friends for working long hours. I don't think they'll be saying anything when I'm making their lexus payments.

I don't see why they have to be mutually exclusive. My side journey with MGTOW is temporary - I'll be back to chasing tail by December. As for what is easier, depends on the person.

Glad to hear that Suboxone worked for you. Everyone seems to have a different opinion on it. We also have an IOP. I'm not a big fan of NA/AA either - we aren't forcing it, but if people want to go that route we won't stop them. There are other versions of support groups out there that are proven to be more effective (SMART is perhaps the most popular/better alternative when it comes to relapse rates).

Most people don't understand AShrugged. It's not that crazy complex of a book but most of the time that I see criticism it misses the point. Feel free to reach out whenever, happy to try to help or make suggestions. This stuff really has been my life since 2008.

There are a lot, really depends on what you're looking for. I get the most mileage out of autobiographies or very well done biographies (as if the figure wrote it). Top 5 Examples: Titan by Ron Chernow (Rockefeller) - baddest ass certified bad ass in history Made In America by Sam Walton (Walmart) - wrote it on his deathbed Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson - no explanation needed Elon Musk by Ashley Vance - everyone should read this book without question, even if the author isn't my favorite Pour Y…

I'm 24. I picked up my first book on the stock market at 17, that lead me deep into finance and then further into just straight business. The thing that's put me further ahead than other people I know is reading. I read >50 books freshman year of college, >1,000 annual reports the rest of college, the WSJ, etc. It's hard not to find opportunities when you do that.

Nobody in my city, as well as most of the state, accepts medicaid. Nobody has found a way to make it work for them and/or they prefer not to go that route. Lot of additional work and creativity needed. For the opioid services, we have a medication assisted treatment program with Suboxone that also includes individual therapy, group education, and helps people with what they call "case management" - anything from helping them find a job to managing their finances or helping with a difficult home …

It takes time (years) to internalize everything. This reporter reaching out to randoms and attempting to write about this community is disturbing. I don't expect anything positive to come out of it, save for the fact that TRP will get more exposure (and as a result a few new members). Especially when you consider anger phase.

I like this. Never really been one for texting but stupid/funny pictures is a nice addition. Really does bleed into not taking yourself too seriously. For people trying to learn TRP this may not be a good beginning, but after a little experience with radio silence it's a good thing to start trying out/working on.

I'm a huge fan of it. You have absolutely nothing to take care of but yourself (no friends getting too drunk, overbearing women with you, waiting while others go to the bathroom) and you have full control over your interactions with other people. If you screw up its on you and you alone. One thing I'm not seeing here is site selection. I would pay particular mind toward finding places that make it less apparent that you're by yourself. I went out solo last weekend to a bar that had multiple sett…

I plated a single mother and we saw each other a handful of times. Things were alright, but at some point she asked me to pitch in more and help out. I stopped reaching out to her after that and that was before TRP. Just was bizarre.

Going through my journey? Lose the arrogance. It's unnecessary and you're not better than other people for valuing long term goals over short term ones in the moment. Especially in college. This prevented me from any form of networking and also lead to a bad reputation, which I definitely deserved.

It becomes like a drug. As someone who has, at points in my life, felt fully self-actualized, there really isn't anything like it. You flow effortlessly through life. Everything is on easy mode. But you're damn right it takes enormous effort to get there. You might be surprised how great things can get though.

My best friend of 8 years absolutely killed the game. When I met him in high school he was spinning 7 plates. We met in SAT class - he showed me naked girls on his phone. I barely talked to girls then. He distanced himself from brown culture. Still lived it at home, but was very immersed in just being American. Everything else is sidebar man. There is no secret to being brown + getting girls. It might be more difficult, I wouldn't know, but if you internalize TRP then it won't matter.

So have I, but it's good to see you implying that you alone have studied Elon Musk. You should write a book, and in the process, berate anyone over any subjective disagreements that might deviate from your own. The less verifiable and more subjective, the better.

I downloaded Tinder yesterday, haven't used it in a few years. I realized after TRP that's my only consideration - yes or no. And I often won't swipe right on a HB8+ because of any number of reasons - the vibe from pictures or any number of things I don't like in their bios. HB6's and 7's are just as good with me, as long as they're not vapid. Not looking for an LTR but I need to be able to sit in the same room as her. The majority don't qualify.

Unless you're on a desert island I don't think its really a good idea to start something with a friend's ex, especially if you've known them that long. Text her about her friends. That's as far as I'd go with communications with her.

Entitlement is everywhere. I won't go into detail on my day, but let's just say you're not alone in this type of nonsense. Sometimes I'm surprised by it, then I remember that it's more common than those who stand up for themselves. Don't ever lose that backbone.

This is what I didn't want to get into. As it relates to seeking out a mentor, when you've read everything that's been written on the subject, have applied thousands of hours of deliberate practice, and find yourself stagnating compared to your prior advancement rate, that is when you really should consider a mentor. Or even before then, when you find yourself seeking a lot of answers that aren't easy to answer.
/r/TheRedPill30/06/16 09:02 PM

And just to add to that, going your own way doesn't mean you need to identify with others going their own way too.
/r/askTRP30/06/16 04:50 PM

Excellent points, all around. I don't care what it is, passion for and hard work at anything teaches a hell of a lot more than that isolated subject. It also makes you into a far better person - the kind of person you mention wanting to hire/mentor.
/r/TheRedPill30/06/16 01:32 PM

Agreed and thanks. I didn't want to write more than I already did, but a lot more can be said on the subject. Imposed will/dogma is particularly bad. A strong base before seeking a mentor can help prevent that. Society is so structured that it keeps everyone on the conveyor belt. I think people just assume success is something that comes to those who wait, rather than those who speak up. Waiting is for the birds. If you didn't start yesterday, you're already behind.

Thanks. I really don't have enough experience with high-achieving women to really comment for gender-specific advice. As someone in finance, it's rare to find women. Still very much a male dominated profession. I feel like most of it would really still apply regardless. People who have made it, experts, and high achievers love to be sought out for their expertise (within certain confines). I might suggest finding a core group of women who espouse the success and values that you aspire to, as wel…

80 lbs in 9 months. Everyone's got the weight side covered here, I'll add my 2 cents. The more unorthodox your weight loss strategy, the more ridicule you will receive. After it works so well that you go from billy to chad, coworkers will treat you like the CEO. You can't buy that much respect. And its from the same people who ridiculed you earlier in your journey. Yeah for sure. Someone needs to write something in depth on Plausible Deniability and the perceived innocence of actions such as those outlined in this post (it was just dinner! well then why lie about it?). You might want to add age here of your sister (30) as that gave some better context. I thought maybe this was in high school. Nice post though, thanks for the story. Entertaining and to the point. Sometimes these are the ways people learn best - through just practical applications from field reports and stories. I'm not calling into question the dollar amount. If I had it and fully decided against marriage (almost there, still want to explore dating more just to see all of this in action) then I'd go for even more than $150k for a surrogate. I'm just saying - solely from the perspective of the article - they actually believe guys who can't find a woman and have $150k to drop on the ability to obtaining a kid being legitimate.

Thanks for posting. Hilarious honestly to see how they explain why a dad might want to use the service. $150k cost doesn't really add up when you think about TRP principles. If you have that kind of money to drop on having a surrogate kid, chances are you can find a girl and be a betabux. I'm sure that'd have to be how we explain ourselves though. No way we get away with "yeah I don't want to be divorce-raped with cash and prizes"\ Edit: I'm surprised how misinterpreted this has become (it seems…

One thing that should be added here is the need for reflection. Rather than look at time spent thinking/worrying about the past as a waste, a healthier approach for me has been constant introspection. It's how I really know myself as well as avoid repeating mistakes. The key to it all is navigating your past with a very critical eye. And not judging yourself for past behavior.

Chronic use of it doesn't really make sense to me. I never took until I was 24 though. And by take it, I mean I've done it one-off maybe 3x per month for weekend days that I need to crank after a full week's work has been done. For periodic use I actually enjoy it. Never could do it every day though.

6'1'' 270 pounds. I ended at 190 pounds. I didn't lift at all at 270 pounds, so the muscle mass I lost more or less correlated to my body size on the way down. I was really skinny at the bottom before I started bulking up.

I've dropped BF% faster than OP with the bulk of it (90%) coming from diet. Went from ~30% body fat to 9% in 8 months. Could have done it faster if I didn't travel that summer, but like you said, probably a good thing for avoiding loose skin. I don't know anyone personally who's come close to the same results. But extreme weight loss isn't exactly a normal thing to see either.

The original question was 'what would someone do', not say, but regardless, I'd agree your theory would be better than trying to explain things. I have tried explaining to close friends of mine and they don't respond well to it.

I might even say it's simpler than that. Strive for outsized success with women in your own life and they won't be able to ignore it any longer. An somewhat unrelated side story is in order. I was fat. I also had an expert friend in wellness. He taught me everything I needed to get my shit together. I also had started a job recently in a closed-quarters, corporate environment. I had one of these in my last city. Met her at a farmer's market (she was working it, also daygame) and came in every other weekend or so to sell produce. Maybe lived 1.5 hours away. I established in person when she was in town next. We set a day and rough time estimate then and there (maybe 1-2 weeks out). I never ask. I don't think I'd ever get an honest answer if they were positive. Plus you most certainly will offend girls who are negative, or at least think they are. This isn't so much a statement on women as it is on people in general. It's a lot easier to play ignorance than it is to admit something like that to someone. Also, if you have to ask, you really probably shouldn't be with that girl. TRP might not agree with me at all - I'm not sure, I haven't seen this addressed on here much. Oth…

A healthy dose of self delusion helps as well. Be actively, genuinely curious about whoever you're talking to. You'll be more invested in the conversation and they will be happy with a captive audience. Nice post. I learned most of my social skills from talking to strangers.

I ran into someone yesterday who I would duel in a heartbeat. Sadly, we're reduced to exchanging words in an online finance group. There is a very distinct difference between abrasiveness/intentional disrespect and general banter. If you can't tell the difference then there's a problem.

The more you try to plan a conversation the more it will feel forced. If you can't talk at length (>30 minutes) about yourself, your interests, your passions, activities, travels, experiences, etc. then you might want to start focusing on self improvement and personal experiences over women.

I don't see your age on here but if you're young and this isn't a career job for you, just go for it. You can always pick back up and work some bullshit desk job again in life. Everything you've written about are things I find incredibly vapid. Money, appearance, automobile, Vegas. These are all textbook things society tells you you need to be successful/happy. Glad to hear it - I do worry about some people with intensive diets, as things sometimes get wacky. I certainly have gone off the deep end at times while experimenting. Unless you're eating organ meats (higher in fat content), you're likely not going with the typical keto diet. I keep myself around 20% of total calories from protein, a decent amount, but nothing crazy. There is a lot of good information out there about too much meat being toxic, so be careful you don't overdo it. I'd say my average day I'm at least 50% healthy fats - avocados, coconut oil, grass fed butter. Nothing - and I mean nothing - beats Bulletproof Coffee prepared the right way.

I got pretty into cooking and can make a perfectly healthy, keto meal that is satisfying + perfectly healthy from scratch. Just takes a lot of tinkering to get decent at it. I had a similar experience though, after not having drank for about 4 months and the most unhealthy thing I put in my body being a small amount of honey, I had 2 beers. I was in the bathroom in agony for at least an hour thereafter. Definitely kept me off alcohol for even longer after that.

I don't think Facebook is a useful tool for the goals that bring people to TRP. It will not aid very much in your success with women, and if anything, has a better chance to detract from it. I will state however that there are some bright spots worth noting. 1) It is infinitely easier to remain in touch with people, share information/articles, and debate current events. I am talking exclusively about messenger, which i think is better than texting in many ways. 2) You can join facebook groups th…

I live by this because of TRP. Less than 12 hours ago my hired independent contractor (female, roughly 40 years old) sent a very unprofessional email to my business partner and I. It was a deliberate attempt to make us angry - there was no other reasoning possible (logical or emotional) for what was written. I'm more of a firm believer in how to think, not what to do - if you can really conceptualize what you're after then it will be more helpful than any set of true recommendations. Outside of reading a wide variety of subjects and understanding things such as the job market, your best bet is to again just really reflect on what you want out of life. I'm by no means a success story (yet). That being said, there is a lot of general advice out there I won't repeat. The things I find most important and often overlooked are: Really get to know yourself. My skillset at 17 was a high proficiency in math and a very strong ability to teach myself things. I then explored a few areas that I knew these two skills would help me greatly - business, engineering, and medicine. While exploring these three general areas, I found that finance was most appeali…

This is why I put in stupid hours. Full time job? Try full time job + starting a business + obtaining professional certifications. I've worked myself to the bone for the better part of a decade now. It hasn't been easy. But I'm getting close. We have a few employees. Take home income outside of my full time job is looking like a possibility. There's a reason so many adults seem dead inside. It's because they gave up a long time ago.

As far as hypomania goes, just be careful not to push it too hard. I've found myself pretty able to manipulate my moods -within reason - through all sorts of healthy and unhealthy means. It may feel great to sleep less, not eat, and work longer hours. Just be careful it doesn't snowball on you. One of the biggest things that helped me was the switch from regular coffee to bulletproof. I started putting coconut oil in my daily brew (egg sometimes too, not required though) and bought higher qualit…

He suffered from major depression issues, which is likely what gave him this perspective in the first place. I sure know that's how I've grown to have a similar outlook on life. Depression changes people. A lot more than most realize.

If I'm not mistaken the sad thing about that video is he killed himself later on. Great thing to watch and rewatch nonetheless.

I've had more health problems than the majority of people and have seen my weight fluctuate accordingly. I went from six pack chad to bloated billy beta. and back again. and forth. now i'm in transition back to chad - it's been moving along well. It's amazing how people treat you differently when you are overweight. I don't think there's as much fat acceptance as people seem to think. Social media might be outspoken about it (and thus make it seem like it is pervasive in society) but my experien…

Abundance mentality. Not only should you act like you have other options, you should be actively pursuing other options. This means all this "how was your day" stuff is nonsense. She doesn't like it and you aren't going to like the end result of it. Try to find other women, and in the meantime, don't contact this girl. Ideally, you would want yourself to be noticed by her through some other medium - another girl commenting about you, her seeing you doing something adventurous on social media, ru…

Everyone has different experiences with weight loss. I'm not a scientist but here is what I did to drop from 270 to 190 (perfect shape, six pack, 10 miles per day running) in 9 months. I became obsessed with wellness. We talk about being obsessed about your goals at TRP - I went over the top with wellness. I bought a gallon jug and filled with "green water" - a homemade concoction of water with some additives that improve overall health. I brought that to work and people laughed. They didn't lau…

Depends on what type of news you want. Most unbiased business news is - in my opinion - the Wall Street Journal.

Yeah the misinformation on that is widespread. I didn't know that is what it was for. I'll have to be on the lookout for that in the future.

There are way too many of these posts lately. Life is simple. It's not easy but it is simple. Set goals, work towards them, minimize wasted time, wake up with a purpose, and get off Reddit.

I posted that at work somewhat in a rush. Didn't mean to be so harsh, sorry about that. To give some backstory, my goal with business was always a certain lifestyle. Wake up without being hounded to be at my desk by a certain time, have most of what I work on every day be my own or contributing towards that, and having my base needs met financially. While this might not sound too crazy hard to get, it typically requires some form of business ownership. I'm not talking about "fuck you" money, jus…

As someone who's done nothing but read, work hard intellectually, and push myself to the point of exhaustion nearly every day with my extra curricular activities the past 7 years, you sound intellectually lazy. Nothing falls into your lap. You don't just read a lot and suddenly become Elon Musk. You need to have a deliberate plan with serious focus on things that matter. That means picking an area and becoming an expert in it. Dabbling here and there is going to get you nothing except the equiva…

It's hard not to find a plan if you work hard enough. Semantics I know, but you've got to realize I'm not working 80 hours per week mopping floors (or the mental equivalent). I didn't start out with a plan, but I did start out with insane work ethic. Now I have multiple plans and enough to keep me busy for the rest of my life. And I'm sure I'll find even more along the way. Failure is inevitable. That's why business isn't for most people. Everyone's used to getting a participation trophy in grad…

I agree with his post more than your comment. Your suggestion is skillsets useful in business management. That's not how you become a millionaire. That's how you scale and grow if you're hungry and work hard at it. Once you already have a skill. Your skills are useful, don't get me wrong, but him sitting in the basement is more important for developing skills and ultimately starting a business to get to that 7th figure. Getting yourself to the mountain is infinitely harder and more useful to lea…

True grit is all it is. No weekends off. Work every day after your 40 hour per week job. And if you're in college, don't waste your time in class. Everyone wants the smallest amount of time investment possible. Unless you're friends with a Saudi Prince, stop dreaming. It requires hard work. I disagree with the top comment. Business very much is learning a skill in your basement staring at a screen. Once you have a business, you can shake anyone's hand you want and smile. But to get to that point…

Value investing - long term fundamental research. Getting my CFA right now. I worked in corporate banking for a year at a large bank but left because it was too mindless. Since then, I've been active on entrepreneurship. I'm starting a healthcare company right now and we actually hired someone today, which is exciting. Finance is a separate activity for me now but I still stay very active with it.

Finance is tricky for me. I'm so defined in it that I think everyone is lazy, an idiot, or both. Very few have my respect. So you're right I should probably pick an area of finance I don't compete with.

Best thing I can tell you is say absurd things with a straight face in completely inappropriate settings. Not necessarily sexual or insulting, just absurd. "Hey how do I fix the TV remote?" "well here's a map. You follow this street down and make a left... once you get there, you'll find a treehouse. Knock twice..." You get the idea. Don't directly answer stupid questions. Answer them with even dumber answers. Don't play by the rules of engagement as it applies to conversation. The more outside …

You're right, that is what I'm looking for. I'm an expert in finance -- I'll start networking with it, not a bad idea. Up until now it's mostly been a personal obsession except when I distribute my research. Guns sound cool. I'll give it a shot. Pun intended.

Some of the commentary here pushes you to create your own access by raising your value. But for someone not there yet, it's really important to still have some type of outlet. There are loads of studies suggesting young males are being increasingly ostracized, isolated, and thus become very depressed. My brother is one of them and it makes me sick. The womyn are winning and I shudder at the thought of this continuing and screwing up an entire generation.

Yeah it definitely is RP now that you mention it. And it's hard not to love Rick for it. I wonder how feminists would react to the show. Unity - one of the best episodes. So dark at the end. I'm a smart guy with smart friends and most of them are "above" watching a cartoon. The generation above me (40+) seems to be the same way.

American Express is a larger version of what you described in terms of customer service. That is their business. Anyone can get a Visa or MasterCard. People choose Amex for that very reason. It's not a bad business strategy. You just have to be choosy in the areas you apply it.

I was hoping for something more public for now as I'm new to a city but I'll just stick to what is attainable for now. Longer-term the goal will be to gain access to what you're describing. Good advice. Thank you.

One piece of advice because it's like I'm reading a post from my younger self (intelligent, socially inept). Work on your sense of humor. I'm not talking about knock knock jokes. Work on using your intelligence real time to connect random dots and make people laugh. You don't need to be, nor should you be, a clown - hidden sarcasm is my personal favorite, especially when coupled with taking things to their extremes. My Dad taught me this well and it's gotten me a lot of social value. It was my s…

Internal scorecard (see: warren buffett) You can't let others define what matters in your life. You need to keep your own internal scorecard of what your focus will be. The message I often see on TRP is that of focusing on yourself first, and women as a side show, because not only do they value that more but you get ahead too. 100% effort towards women will only end in your misery.

This is my advice to everyone. Read. And I'm not talking about Reddit message boards. Learn about successful people in history and figure out why they became successful. Don't rely on school for your education. I prefer to study businessmen because they are self made (Steve Jobs being a good role model, Elon Musk as well) and I'm a businessman myself. Studying these greats should light a fire under your ass. Don't ever complain about or describe yourself as being lazy. That's no excuse unless yo…

Congrats man. Been through a suicidal depression so bad myself that I'm a different person on the other side of it. I think that's pretty much the definition of trauma. Doing the exact same thing you have now and making good progress. Girls are looking my way for the first time in 2 years. I too refuse to go to therapy and the meditation cannot be understated.

Going to go a different route than just talking about women. Read. As much as you can. And I'm not talking Harry Potter or other fiction. Teach yourself things, just as you've learned RP wisdom from people here. I am an expert in one field and becoming very proficient in a second just by using my free time to learn. Don't take it lightly - it's been the greatest contributor towards everything from respect in my social circles to actual financial opportunities.

Start learning business. I'm 8 years deep - 8 hard years - and I'm scratching the surface of what is possible. It's intellectually demanding, you get out what you put in, you can become fantastically successful, and yes - I've never been bored since I began.

The worse the movie the better. Even make a joke about it. Kids movies can be good for this. Kung Fu Panda was what I stumbled onto in high school. I've seen it 3 or 4 times now. But I haven't actually watched it.
