Separated from my wife and about to file. I live in Southern California. We were only married two years. Right now we are amicably dealing with our debt. I'm just curious if I'm legally bound to provide spousal support beyond that that and if so how much?Any kids in the equation? Go consult with a few lawyers. Then go to a mediator and settle it. If you even have an inkling you need a lawyer, go get one immediately. There is no incentive for wives to behave well in divorce. PM me for more questions if you have them. | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/09/17 03:13 PM
Divorce after infidelityYour ex wife's reaction and behavior is typical in our society. She has no agency or responsibility and courts, in my experience, rarely actually care about infidelity. It is a sad truth. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/08/17 02:29 PM
Divorced adviceInstall cameras all over your house. Place a sign out front that states "by entering the premises you consent to being recorded". Keep all footage just in case you're falsely accused. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/08/17 09:30 PM
Divorced adviceGoogle unbundled legal help and file using them or file pro se. Sell the home if you can. Who cares about her desires to stay in the house. If the debt you have is marital debt, she will owe half of it. File first. You want to be the plaintiff if you live in an at fault state. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/08/17 09:28 PM
CheatingLeave. No marriage counseling, no quarter for her. She's trying to make you a cuck and staying with her will only allow her to do it again. There are honorable women out there. I found one who restored my faith in relationships. She's a great mom and will be an awesome influence on my kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/07/17 08:05 AM
Anyone do an amicable negotiated divorce with kids to keep lawyer fees minimal?Best advice on here. Do it yourself if you can. My ex wouldn't make any decisions herself and hired a lazy attorney. I hired a great attorney (I interviewed two) and it was money very well spent. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/07/17 08:03 AM
Helping brother (father of 3) go through divorce, advise requested.Great advice. Most states have a calculator for child support. However, if his STBX had an attorney and he doesn't, then that is when he will be pressured to sign a bad deal. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/07/17 07:58 AM
Helping brother (father of 3) go through divorce, advise requested.Tell him to ask his STBX to go to mediation. They can get divorced that way. It sounds like their custody situation will be a unique one. Lawyers add fuel to the fire and will spend all of your money. I'd stay away from them if possible. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/07/17 07:56 AM
| 2 | Going through seperation right now and she wants divorce. You shouldn't have left the marital home without a separation agreement. This will be viewed as desertion. However, you could get smacked with a false domestic violence (DV) charge if you went back in. Ask her to refinance the house out of your name and you can move on. Get into therapy and start working out (a lot). It will make you feel better and look better as well. Ask her to go to mediation to get divorced vice both getting lawyers.
