Probably coffee or lunch. Drinks if you are that kind of person. If you are ready to throw down a date right away dinner might be a good idea. You can tack on a walk or hike too. You don't have to go to a destination, you can just walk around a neighborhood or a park.

Well, it's good to strive to be the best you can be. The kid is 18, he shouldn't change his wardrobe because he thinks chicks will dig that. It's ok to be yourself. As you said, it's important to be the person you want to be, not the person that you feel that society wants you to be. A blue jeans and t-shirt kinda guy who prefers staying at home, a few bottles of beer, and a movie with the love of his life is never going to be happy buying all new trendy threads and going out clubbing every nigh…

You should dress how ever you want as long as your cloths fit and they are clean. Just be yourself man. You want to attract people who like YOU not someone you are trying to be.

This might frighten you, but there are good looking guys who are also charming and successful. Same thing with women too!

Looks clearly do matter. You are telling me women don't care if a person is tall, athletic, chiseled good looks versus chubby, short, and acne ridden? Let's flip this around and think about how people on this subreddit label women as "HBs" and then assign them a numerical value which evaluates how attracted an individual is to that person. It's the classic argument: "which matters more, look or personality". The honest truth is that both matter different amounts to different people.

I can't tell if you are really funny or totally stupid. Bravo!

God, there are women like this and from my experience, they want you to give in to their tantrums not snuff them. passing "shit tests" as defined by this article is what ended my last relationship. I am not the type of person who is going to run after someone when they are being ridiculous and let me tell you guys, some women just get more and more crazy when you ignore their emotions until the point where they actually do insane things like threaten to stab you / kill themselves. I have like 10…

Haha, sounds like you are looking to meet altar boys.

The hate for OK Cupid is insane on this subreddit. I have never used it, but I know lots of cute girls in SF who are in their mid 20s and smart/interesting who use the service. I don't really know any amazingly beautiful women who use the site, but those women won't give you the time of day unless you are some combination of very attractive and very successful. I bet success on OK Cupid is highly dependent on where a person is living. Results probably vary widely between New York City and the pa…

1 - find coffee shop on yelp, maybe stop by to make sure it is OK. Pick somewhere that you can have a conversation 2 - pick a girl 3 - ask the girl if she wants to get coffee after work IN PERSON or at least talk to her on the phone. If she says she is busy ask her if another time works and if she doesn't make firm plans with you write her off. 4 - if she writes you off wait a week and ask the other girl and repeat same process

I would say that is totally false. I don't really know anything about game theory, I mostly browse these threads out of interest. To buy a drink out of the blue is odd and sorta reeks of desperation. If you are hanging out with a group at a bar and you have all been drinking, "Hey, let me buy you a drink" will work very well if the woman has some interest.

Don't buy someone you haven't talked to a drink unless you are weird and old, those are the people who usually do that. A lot of people might decline out of the blue drinks as well, I think a lot of people view the acceptance of a drink as granting the right for someone to hang out with you. If you arrive at the bar with someone, even if it isn't a girl, it can be nice to buy someone a drink. If a girl declines say she can get the next round. If she is resistant to even that, she doesn't want yo…

I don't even go to the gym and "go to the gym" was the first thing I thought of.

I would worry about developing alcoholism. A lot of people with strong social anxiety develop a dependency on alcohol.

Oh man. Maybe you are a college freshman. I am not a liberal arts major, but people say annoying stuff like that to liberal arts majors all the time. Being a dick off the bat won't work well!

Deodorant is more than enough in my opinion. I am a Mitchum man. Mountain air gel.

Whatever you think, but your comment is totally unrelated to what I said. I was talking about how it is easy for an older person to take advantage of a young girl. It is! If you were 17 year old kid and some woman was like "hey little boy, come smoke weed with me in my apartment" you would be so stoked. And if she was like "Yo, I don't think people should be in relationships, I think people should be able to have sex and not be in relationships" you would say "Yeah, sure! That makes a lot of sen…

She will probably get attached. I mean, it's possible she won't, but she probably will. This will either make you feel bad or you will be like "fuck that, I am a 26 year old man that uses 17 year old girls". If you are ok with the second one, that's kinda sad.

I think they are just doing it for fun, not prepping for a scientific article. I think beyond the statistical implications, the author(s) could care less if their advice works for picking up girls.

I am a bad dancer too and I don't really like dancing, but it's not good to be a wet blanket. Just do it and you will get used to it. It's also a lot easier to dance with a partner and especially when you are drunk.

Dude, please take my advice. If you like her just call her on the phone and ask her to hang out. Be yourself! She clearly likes you so if you ask her to go to the park or go on a walk everything should be great.

You hyped a surprise, so you should have SOMETHING, but don't over do it. I am not that in to dancing, but the idea of asking her to teach you how to do a dance sounds sorta cheesy to start with. BUT! After a bottle of wine it could be quite charming. Just don't bring up the dancing until you both have a few drinks in you. You sound really desperate to impress this girl and that's fine! That's great! That's probably part of the reason she wants to spend time with you. Understand that you already…
