Are you telling me you never heard of a deadbeat dad? Or a shotgun wedding? I said speak for yourself because you don't identify with them. I wasn't insulting you.

I've known a few divorced couples that had unwritten terms in their divorce. This usually meant generous under the table alimony until the other partner would be reasonably self sufficient. In exchange for exclusion of written alimony terms.

I wonder how this argument would play out in Hawaii. From what I understand, local dudes don't wear a shirt unless they are at work.

I'm sorry but it's subjective. People are going to disagree with you. And some won't. This is what makes it subjective.

I've known a few ladies that are a little naive to how guys see them. My old lady used to think they were harmless. Then she liked them after she knew how I felt and got a few complimentary glances. Then some guy creeped her out, and it was back to jeans and blouses for awhile. I'm just not convinced women wear yoga pants, tank tops, and sun dresses with the sole intent of being oggled at. But it's true that us guys often dig it.

This. As a guy I have known since middle school this is where the line of acceptable and unacceptable lies. And my past girlfriends seem to share the same feeling. Ladies are OK with you glancing at them because it's hard not to notice them. But if you are staring to the point where it makes then uncomfortable, you are being creepy. If someone is going to be this naive about it I try to paint this scenario: imagine you are hetero male and some gay dude is checking you out. Or you are hetero male…

I'm nitpicking here. But this model explains or predicts a portion of the decision. Which is what I'm getting at when I say it's unreliable for predicting what puts a man in his prime.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/09/16 12:28 AM

Human behavior is never reliably predicted by one variable. And a list of variables aren't a checklist. It's a list of contributing factors to your decision.

It essentially diminishes the value of a woman who meets this criteria. The Wall - The point in a woman's life where her ego and self-assessed view of her sexual market value exceed her actual sexual market value; the beginning of the decline. Usually occurs as a wake-up shock to women when they realize that their power over men was temporary and that their looks are fading. This usually results with first denial and then a sudden change in priority towards looking for a husband. Even after hitt…

Who are we to judge women that we see as low value in some arbitrary rating scheme for whatever reason for trying to get what they want? It goes this way for everyone. Do you want to bypass some arbitrary exchange model in the dating world and bargain for your own benefit? I may not see your demands as reasonable but please knock yourself out. If you are asking about the false dichotomy, it's not reliable to view people as one set of traits or another. One can have both sets of traits or neither one. Then they can be broken down by each variable. Just because one is socially desirable does not make a reliable predictor of nurturing traits. If you are asking about evolutionary psychology, well evolution was kind of a one time deal that's already happened. Not unless you can create a controlled environment where humans don't exist and e…

But you can't grasp the idea that erection and orgasm are not limited to only emotional states and can be a physiological response. It's like you've never known what it's like to have an inappropriate erection and then feel embarrassed by it.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/12/15 08:31 AM
3

Then why do some spinal injuries cause priapism? Are you telling me I can walk up to you, shoot you, and leave you paralyzed... But you totally liked it as evidenced by your erection?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/12/15 06:40 AM
4

Let me test out this sound theory of yours. You can rape ANYONE, but so long as they orgasm, they will enjoy being raped by you. So let's take a quadriplegic fellow. I disable his wheel chair. Jerk him off until he ejaculates, while he is screaming "Nooo! Stop!!!" He doesn't feel a thing. But I made him orgasm. So it's not rape, right? And he totally liked it.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/12/15 06:12 AM

You are lumping two independent variables together. Enjoying domination doesn't mean one wants to be raped. For example, I had a ladyfriend that really did enjoy being dominated, but was particular about who that person was. It's a big turn if it's me or one of her other dudes. But that doesn't mean just anyone can come over to her house and have their way with her. She has consented beforehand with me. If you do it, it's rape, and I'm sure it would be treated that way.

I've read accounts from women and young men that were raped. They often mention that they felt some pleasure which really fucks with their head and makes them feel guilty. But that doesn't mean they aren't traumatized. Your theory of it being for attention isn't going to hold up. Going to the hospital or being examined with the rape kit isn't as glamorous as you think it is. Women often find the discussion multiple times with law enforcement about something they are ashamed of isn't the kind of …

But that is part of what I'm saying. more likely to end it if it goes bad. People that can walk away from a bad marriage get better at leaving bad marriages and tend to be happier in future relationships, compared against folks that see divorce as out of the question.

I hope you will encourage the dialectical discussion to any degree. People like you are the best argument that your community is not group think.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/15 05:13 PM
2

Well I get that it's the antithesis but that is what makes dialectical discussion so useful. Your argument meets the extreme opposition and based on the discussion you reformulate and improve your argument. I feel that this process would benefit your community while preserving it at the same time.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/15 05:02 PM

How does trp feel about ppd in general? I'd think the challenges would benefit the terpers, or it should at least be encouraged at some point.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/15 04:41 PM
1

Well that is reassuring. I used to post in mra a long time ago thinking this is my group but holy shit are the priorities misguided and I was not tolerated. On the same note I later used to visit srs and was banned for guilt by association. I admire your pragmatic approach.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/15 04:36 PM
2

Question: you seem to be the type that digs dialectical discussion seeing that you discuss here and challenge ideas on your stomping ground, trp. Which is a great way to improve a mindset or philosophy. How much of the red pill is like you? I'm curious because blue pill folk and I myself feel that trp's that hang out in ppd are much easier to talk with and seem more reasonable than the average red piller.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/15 04:22 PM

A high divorce rate leads to happier marriages. Once you have your first divorce, you are much more likely to be happy in your next marriage, and more likely to end it if it goes bad.

Sperm wars, which seems to be disproved. But don't see me as a someone opposed to it as my argument is that it is difficult to test and support or disprove. I am just skeptical but don't write it off completely.

Yes. But I've observed Rush Limbaugh arguing they are the same. I hope trp doesn't believe this. Do they?
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/15 04:57 PM
3

I don't know what you are talking about but I do understand why many that dig science are reluctant to accept evolutionary psychology. It's rather hard to prove and disprove compared to other applied sciences and disciplines of psychology. It sort of reeks of psuedoscience much like intelligent design, NLP, and scientology. That's not to say it's wrong or can't be true. But I can appreciate the skepticism.

Liberal and lesbian feminism?
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/15 04:27 PM

appreciate the discussion. I notice some red pillers make comments such as "no, but feminism/leftists are because..." Why is this? I never made any reference to feminism and don't identify with it (but do not feel threatened by it either). Is this a common way of thinking among your folk? That those who disagree with you do so because of feminism?
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/15 04:17 PM
3

The Blue Pill seems essentially based in opposition to The Red Pill. Although there are probably subpopulations with like-minded folk, some come there from the feminist walk of life, others are ex-red pillers that no longer believe its teachings.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/15 01:09 PM
3

If feminism is dictated top-down, then why are there various feminist theories, some seemingly far apart? Do they form that way because a leader or committee instructed them to do so? And does women's studies have some kind of ban on research to prevent challenging of common ideas?

This is the most useful post on here. More useful than armchair complaining. Let me add to it. Don't come home for at least a day and avoid visibility to the police. This way there is nothing on you. No evidence collected by police. No shouting overheard by neighbors. If you stay, the neighbors call the police because they heard shouting. Wife claims abuse. You look angry. The cops will arrest you because they will not believe you and they are not your friends.
/r/MensRights09/03/13 06:13 AM
6

No think about it. Neighbors are witness to shouting. The goal is to make the man angry and violent. A black eye is another item in the case. Cops do the same thing to people they want to arrest you. They tease you, call you racist things. When you get mad and fight back they win.

I think the best thing to take from this post is to never accept top-down teachings like this. It's nice to finally see some positive thinking in this sub. If you see something posted like this, try to tactfully question the message. Just don't alienate the audience and resort to name calling.

I think a good social support circle including involved parents will help you in these situations. I've noticed that my lady friends in the past were willing to share some insight into current and potential partners. Love and infatuation can make a person blind and even stupid. You need to help your friends in a selfless way and make friends that will watch your back as well.

I think it's worth noting that women should be taught to not be financially dependent on a male spouse. The chances of the woman being happy in her relationship and her ability to leave a bad relationship grow. And it doesn't conflict with any MRA issues.
/r/MensRights11/02/13 06:45 PM

Disregard that then. If someone is going to be like that, the best thing I can come up with is asking how she would feel if she was barred from applying at another employer because of her gender.

This is a pretty idealistic concept. I can see it working in some nations, but not in the US (where I live). Here it is not feasible; not enough people are going to vote themselves into harm's way. Politicians also enjoy the privilege of sending people to war and don't have to give up their right to do so. They also give zero fucks about what you think.
/r/MensRights06/02/13 10:00 AM

The problem with this is that you see feminism and MR as a pissing contest. You really don't know what it's like to be a woman. Likewise, they aren't likely to be in tune with every issue important to you. Trying to alienate people that aren't in-line with your thinking only works in places like this subreddit. Don't act like this in the real world.

Public defenders only get involved with criminal cases. You do not have the right to a free lawyer in a civil suit. But many are willing to take the case if they feel there is a good chance for winning. If anything, the system works in favor of the claimant in a false accusation case, since arrest and permanent record is likely to happen even though the case will be thrown out. This the point where you are free to go sue the person accusing you of rape. Edit: Let me restate all of this to clarif…

That works just as well but I don't know if it feasible in the heat of an argument with a vengeful partner. The trick I am using is borrowed from part 2 of the YouTube series, Never Talk to the Police. In this technique, the interrogator takes the subject in a room with a sign like the one you mentioned, but holds a video recorder in hand. He then shuts off the video recorder, fooling the subject into thinking the recording has stopped and admitting to their crime.

I was under the impression that most prostitutes do have the ability to say no. They often work in groups or with men (pimps) which gives them agency. I usually caution against the slippery slope but I believe assault is proper here. Violating someone with words can be assault. And unlawfully putting your hands on someone is battery. Try to forget about your emotions involved with these words. In medicine, performing a medical procedure without consent and the law on your side is battery, even though battery makes most people thing of beating someone with your fists. In this scenario, nobody cares about your intent.

I'd say there is a good chance of catching someone in the act but I would not count on it. None, except for offering a pacifier dipped in sugar water after the procedure was performed. I was a student nurse at the time.

I am not in a position of authority on circumcision. I do not have kids and do not participate in the procedure. I observed it during nursing school. I primarily work with old folks.

The AMA is not the primary source for guidelines when it comes to circumcision. But as of right now, they are the top source for reporting deaths from circumcision in the US. Your source is not reliable btw. You don't know where the photos came from. He could have pulled all those from "home circumcisions with scissors gone wrong vol. 2" for all you know.
/r/MensRights30/11/12 01:58 PM

Is this a serious question or are you trying to make a point? I could have intervened. With would have led to charges of battery on an MD and a patient. I could have been sued for personal injury by several parties. My nursing career would have had 0 impact on anyone. And the circumcision would have been rescheduled. Your mentality is no different than those that would blow up an abortion clinic. If you want to change something you need to teach people, not strong arm them.

Their strategy is to emotionally traumatize otherwise happy, circumcised men; convince men that their parents wronged them, that society violated their human rights, that they're not enjoying sex as much as they could be, and that they're somehow "less" for lacking a "natural" part of their body. In other words, they spread misery in order to further their political agenda. Just look at who gets the downvotes. People that are circumcised that are ok with it. Why? Because they don't want these op…

You have mitigated the claims of the benefits with arguments about how relevant the evidence is to current US culture. Nothing is disproven. Claims of harm are subjective. I insist that I am not harmed and you can't do anything about it.

There were 2 conditions in my sentence. Not remembering and not being disabled.

That's a very subjective question, don't you think?
/r/MensRights30/11/12 11:50 AM

Ok. We can work together to figure it out. I'll start because I've done this before. How much does it cost to ask this: "Do you have a family history of breast cancer?" How much more did that cost compared to performing a double mastectomy? Edit: I see I am not on the same page as you. I read your post. Let's say you are 100% right. You still can't predict gay.

I think it's hard to prove that. When you are born, they keep the leftovers. But even if the placenta and cord weren't worth jack, that doesn't mean they aren't going to just leave that shit where it is. The same goes for an organ donor card. That means you are worth all sorts of money. Does that mean they are going to accidentally kill you when nobody is looking?

That some next level evidence you got there. What do you think about parents that send their kids to college despite never having the opportunity to do so themselves? Do you think none of them had their sons circumcised?
/r/MensRights30/11/12 11:25 AM

Why not use genetic assessment and history before throwing around the idea of routine double mastectomy to prevent breast cancer? It's a hypothetical idea that isn't considered outside of the anti-circumcision movement. Transmittable diseases are harder to predict and therefore a valid rationale for practicing circumcision.

I too had a missed nerve block with 2 teeth getting broken out by my dentist. I feel your pain. Heck, I scared the shit out of everyone in the waiting room from my screaming according to my father. Still, I put the it as a lower risk compared to going under. You have a very good point when it comes to a missed nerve block. A baby may not be good at rectifying that. Still, general anesthesia risks increase when you are working with infants. I don't think the car analogy is suited for this example…
/r/MensRights30/11/12 11:08 AM

It bothered me. The baby did not have any form of anesthesia and it looked painful. But I would have been ok had the infant received regional pain relief.

When you get your colostomy, you will be in pain. But you won't feel as though you've been harmed, since you will not remember what happened and will not feel disabled as a result of what happened.
/r/MensRights30/11/12 10:53 AM

Why is that preferred over a nerve block? General anesthesia sounds awfully risky, and exponentially more risky when it involves infants. You wouldn't want that for a vasectomy, would you?

That is another argument and rationale. But he is still concerned about what the circumcised penis is going through. He put aside some time to explain why those with circumcisions don't feel as much pleasure as he does, then asks the reader to accept that he is "missing out," followed by a request not to do it to future generations.

Appearing average or like unremarkable is the path of least resistance in certain interactions.
/r/MensRights30/11/12 06:43 AM

I'm with you about the anesthesia. Something local or regional with a good nerve block should be performed. A pacifier in some sugar water isn't ok.

There are benefits. Although the difference between benefits vs risks has narrowed recently. Regardless of that, it seems as if that wasn't brought up in the case of this story. Let's also try to avoid binary logic when it comes to the risks of death. You are right that surgical procedures involve the risks of the death. But most people are thinking of the higher risks of death from general anesthesia when you mention that. The risks for death from a procedure like circumcision are very low when…

Do you live in the US or you deeply involved in anti-circumcision movements? Mutilation and socially accepted appearance are relative. To me, your opinion seems typical for someone coming from an area where circumcision is not routinely practiced but unusual for the typical American man.

Do you think outlawing reselling of foreskin would take away the incentive to circumcise boys? Would it cause a significant decrease in procedures?

Don't you think that is a bit ethnocentric and egocentric? Things don't revolve around the UK where I live. And people in my area aren't going to share your opinion on what a normal penis looks like. Look aside, the joy of sex also doesn't revolve around your penis. I'm cut and sex feels awesome. It's not like men on the US are suffering from a lack of pleasure from fucking. Why are you concerned about convincing me that I'm missing out on something? BTW, no hard feelings. I'm happy that you are…

It happened at an age where I was too young to remember and the procedure wasn't botched. So there isn't much to complain about. As for why I am glad: It's less work to keep things clean. Less risks for transmitting several STD's. And since folks around me tend to have one already, it acts as a social lubricant in certain situations.
/r/MensRights30/11/12 05:47 AM
-1

You seem to be focusing on the idea of literally one standard method for chopping. But that doesn't mean there aren't standards of care for the procedure. If that weren't the case, there wouldn't any way to teach something like circumcision aftercare and there could not be any case for gross negligence.

Well it's not going to be the same for everyone. It's not simple for (me) at least. I am glad my junk got knifed. But I'm also glad I don't remember it. And I don't know if I could knife my junk right now had I not been knifed as a baby. [edit]

I can't speak for a botched circumcision itself. But dying from one is not acceptable and is a case for malpractice. When it comes to this case I think it's gross negligence and practicing medicine without a license. Feelings aside, that person wasn't qualified to perform the procedure.

No worries. As a somewhat fresh nurse, this is the impression I have been getting about circumcision: It is generally offered but not imposed upon parents like it used to be. There are benefits that will be discussed with the parents but there shouldn't be any problem with not circumcising a baby. A circumcised baby is routinely checked for complications that could lead to serious injury by the postpartum nurse. The nurse will teach these instructions to the parents before they are discharged to…

Misleading title.
/r/MensRights29/11/12 02:39 PM

You don't really know that from the article. The population of the area might be growing and there is no standardized comparison of chopping per capita comparing now and then. Regardless of how you feel about it, things like this show negligence on the part of the postpartum nurses or the parents. Death from circumcision is not normal.

In the military this is a big deal and it goes both ways. I've seen women getting reprimanded for going into men's barracks unannounced or even walking in too short of a pause before entering.

Why didn't you say something or go to the front desk? I don't get guys that can't say no. This isn't a mens' issue. They aren't doing their job well. Dudes clean out the ladies locker room at my gym but the difference is: they do it when it is empty and put a sign out front.

Try not to worry so much about the feminists. Disregard the female part. Restate it as, "does sports cause violence against human beings?" It makes for good discussion. BTW, mackerel is a likely cause of of violence. It's so abundant, easy to catch, hard to bleed properly and clean. I've seen it go down between a husband, wife, and a cat over a bucket of mack.

True, but it seems to be conscription most of the time. OP is focusing more on current trends rather than arguing over something that isn't happening.

Well for the first part I say that time until reported matters. I had a job where I came across memos about reported rape involving alcohol and when a victim immediately went to law enforcent after the incident it was less likely to be questioned. But waiting a day or two caused more doubt. For the second issue I can think of two examples. One involved a celebrity that insisted on taking recorded statements before having sex with intoxicated fans. Another, the don haidl case, proved to be very d…

I know at the military and federal level rape when drunk works like this: If you are put into a state where you cannot give consent and there was no reason to believe consent would be given, then it is rape. If someone agrees to sex beforehand and gets drunk, it is not rape.
/r/MensRights18/11/12 07:09 AM

That first sentence sounds like something you are making up (except for the warning part). I didn't see anything like that in the OP's post. For all we know, someone in HR might be spying on that employee and just made the statement to cockblock the OP. Even then, from what the OP posted, there is nothing but a verbal warning and nothing done in writing; there is no tangeable evidence about the OP being warned in the first place. He could end up wasting money on a lawyer while HR sits back and s…

It's a warning, not an act of aggression. Even if there is some malicious intent present, it has not manifested into an act of aggression yet. You also do not know if it is an act on her part of HR itself. Civil claims are based on occurrence. The claim can only be based on harm that occurred prior to the warning unless OP continues to make contact with the claimant. Suppose the OP ignores your advice and gets a job elsewhere tomorrow. What can he be sued for that didn't already happen? BTW, jus…

No and yes. I might think about it differently than others. The 10 wealthiest people in the world could throw off the mean if they were mostly men. The OP didn't say on average though. Either way, neither one means that discrimination is taking place.

OP: if shelters are the backbone of feminism, does that mean shutting them down will make the feminists go away? And who are they indoctrinating and why are these people being led to do? Is this some sort of a serious threat to public safety? Just a few more questions. Where do you get this information? Have you been to a lot of womens' shelters? OP it sounds like you have a good head on you but I don't know if this is the best place for advice. It seems that womens' shelters seem to enrage people here. What you posted has better ideas.
