There seem to be quite a few now... Self-love rings is what they're called, but they're pinky rings which isn't what I remember.

This reminded me of when a few years back there was this ring women could buy for themselves to show they were commited to themselves. (Also the added bonus of not being bothered by as many creeps when out.) And I don't know, but I liked that idea.

So they are both messed up then... But I thought she had the 'affair' while they were both separated? P.s. and what makes you say she's a narc? Genuinely curious as I don't know her story well.

I'm starting to realize being alone will probably always trump being with someone else, except maybe for safety or financial reasons, which in themselves are not good reasons to be with someone so 🤷‍♀️

Ex literally told me he'd given his all to women in the past and been treated like shit so now he was never putting them first again, which meant ME... I never felt our relationship could recover from that (let alone other stuff). I bet he's crawling on his knees for his new piece, though, they always do when they feel they no longer have back-ups.

Being "brutally honest" means they can demean you without consequences, but turn that around and be "brutally honest" with them and they get all sulky... Double standards much? Also, my ex was super into "honesty" when it suited him (telling me I needed to lose weight or when I asked him what he thought about the dress I picked) but not so much when it didn't suit him (telling me he wanted to end the relationship, except only when he became more financially stable and his mistress decided to lea…

If the shoe fits, buddy... What is it with men needing to always chip in with "nOt Me ThOUgH" like if you don't see yourself represented in the statement, why even bother to reply? It's like someone driving past a pasture, sees lambs, parks their car, goes up to the farmer and tells them "but I don't eat lambs!" then drives off leaving a very tired farmer in their wake.

I'm so glad to hear you're doing well! I wish I had that kind of confidence (stil working on it) but you're right, you reveal one tiny insecurity and they'll work hard to expose the rest. My ex was a bit of a mess himself. He'd use this app to count calories and I'd tell him that's pretty much an eating disorder. He'd always ignore me and say he knew what he was doing and worked for him. But God forbid I rejected his advice! It was like hell on earth... Men really do have fragile egos. That's wh…

Me too! I hate being watched while working out, be it someone I know or not. Just feels so awkward! (Well, being watched in general is creepy and I don't like it tbh). They want to control is, basically. I kept having to repeat "you're not my dad" over and over again in my last relationship. It's gross, and they mask it as concern/caring for us. Yeah right!

Thank you! I'm curvy and have big hips/legs but a small waist, etc. Which sounds about average! That is preposterous, I am so sorry as well! They chip at your self-esteem until they can manipulate you easily. Make you feel fat, ugly, worthless, until you believe there's no one who'd have you but them. But you also get the opposite: men who try and make their wives as fat and "undesirable" as possible so no one will take them. I read this one article about a man who'd put hormones in his wife's f…

I can attest to the fact that most men I work with at the office don't wash their hands (the air driers are super loud so you definitely KNOW when someone has used them. Also our cleaning lady confided in us that she never needs to replace their hand gel or soap. Wtf!!!)

This always felt very demeaning to me... Any type of submission feels like that and I would panic if someone so much as held my wrists above my head (has happened and I was terrific, but they stopped once I told them that was NOT cool). People who say they feel empowered by this - well all the more power to them but I just personally don't see it.

Yup... men like to think they own women's bodies, whether they're their partner or not. You give them a hand, they'll want the whole arm. I think it has to do with the fact that they're hardwired to solve problems. Women can just talk and listen to each other without trying to solve anything - we know the word "vent". But men need to fix everything they find or they'll explode. My ex did this. But was a bit different. He started to get really pushy, say it was for my health, etc, but would then c…

I don't think men can deal with women who make more money than them... I've seen it happen countless times. It makes them super insecure, angry and spiteful. Make the women feel guilty and frustrated. You don't want that kind of energy. The no going down thing AND being a Marine only adds to the madness. Just don't even bother...

That's why I said "Or maybe he just wants different things for him, which is fine and reasonable". I never said anyone who doesn't want to date someone with herpes is LV. Not wanting that is the person's choice, but shows they're not the person meant for the OP anyway.

Why are we even trying to separate the man from his politics? They're the same. He will rule based on what he believes in. I know people like to say women are the emotional ones, but truly, we can separate things better than men can. I wouldn't personally want to be ruled by a mysoginist rapist, no matter what he promised. And he hasn't promised very much. In fact, we should look at what he DID so far rather than what he plans to do. It's the actions that count, not the words. Being pro-Trump do…

I'm guilty of having faked orgasms in the past... To be honest, I just wanted it to be done and over with so I could go do something else 🤷‍♀️ I don't think I was ever attracted to him and he rarely turned me on. I thought I didn't need that to be in a relationship with someone - love was enough! Having sex felt like something I had to check off every week or few days in order to be a good girlfriend. So I wasn't really into it, just didn't want him to get bored and leave. Terrible but at least …

You did the right thing. You're not sensitive at all, you actually put up with TOO MUCH. But we all do until we see the light. This forum will help empower yourself again and regain your misplaced feelings. Don't ever take this guy back, keep him blocked, and don't even try to date before you've recovered from this absolute madness. Your mind and heart need time to heal. This is some strong energy but unfortunately men have murdered for less. Stay safe, make yourself safe. These moves/advice are akin to Russian roulette. Even if you can get away with it in a public place, make no mistake: they'll be waiting outside for hours if necessary to then follow you home and beat you to a pulp somewhere more secluded. Humiliated men are dangerous men. I like the humor and I like the energy. But unfortunately it's just that. Investing in self-defense could help in many sit…

This should have been discussed pre-marriage and pre- children. They're now in a partnership and that means commitment and compromise. Unfortunately, one of them will have to yield and compromise. And it won't be the husband making $975k. I feel sorry for this woman. She would have done fine making $90k. Ultimately, it's no one's fault. Their expectations are obviously different and again, should have been discussed prior to getting pregnant. Don't ever get married without concrete expectations …

Don't make it a competition. Stop following/looking at those instamodels - most of them are heavily edited anyway, so you'd be trying to achieve something impossible. Don't compare yourself to anyone. Definitely use your old gains as motivation but don't be too hard on yourself. If you do get to that point again, great! If not, you did your best and became healthier/happier in the process, which is a win in my book. I get how you feel. Depression and mental health issues can rob you of so much. …

I loved Strong Girl Bong-soon. I have yet to find a more perfect k-drama! I also enjoyed Descendents of the Sun. K-Crush and The Swoon are two YouTube channels I like to watch if I'm in the mood to find new titles. Don't bother with men for now. Do your thing, invest in yourself, do what makes you happiest, and get to a level of financial security that makes you comfortable. Enjoy your hobbies, get a solid education, build a great group of friends. The right person will come at the right time. Never waste a day of your life worrying about dating, men, etc. I completely get your mindset because I too witnessed a messed up marriage and my mom suffering countless times over my father. Wow, just wow. That's the thing, isn't it? It's NOT about the money, it's about the way he treated his partner, watching her struggle, selling stuff to pay for THEIR dog's surgery, supporting HIM, I mean... Honestly, after 4 years there's no excuse. And then discussing a prenup for marriage??? As if she didn't prove to him enough times how self-sufficient and reliant she is? She doesn't need his money! Self-reflection is not something many men are capable of doing - they'll absolutely answer something along the lines of "of course!" But yeah, you can definitely root out some scrotes with it. The problem is men with no self-esteem are also LV, but at least those will be able to admit it when asked 🤷‍♀️

Wow, just wow. You never really know anyone, do you? How do people manage to disappoint so much and so often? I'm sorry you had to go through this, it's a major trust blow and can only imagine how it makes you feel. I'm sure he'll try to contact you to find out why you suddenly ghosted him and that's honestly not a position I'd like to be in considering the mutual group of friends. I would delete it. Not because of men, though. It's a part of your life you no longer connect with, or feel comfortable about, and the time spent deleting/blocking these followers could easily be spent elsewhere. I would create a different profile and make sure it wasn't traceable (use different email address, phone, turn off certain privacy options, etc) so that you can start fresh. A lot of people have herpes. I've seen couples where one of them has much more serious, deadly STDs like HIV, and they live with it fine. They just make sure to be really careful and always use protection. The thing you have to keep in mind is that oral sex will probably always be out of the question. But other than that, as long as you use a condom, it should be fine. If a man can't understand this, then he really isn't a HVM. Or maybe he just wants different things for him, which is fine and r…

Men need constant reassurance about everything because their egos are so fragile. Primitively speaking, we all need to feel part of a pack in order to survive - that means having a social group we can lean onto. Men have their group of friends, some of which would not look upon certain behaviors in a good light. Probably shun this person for what they did. So in order to avoid rejection by the people they trust and look up to, they lie. It keeps their dignity and manliness intact and bonus point…

I feel the exact same way. The only close male friends I have are all in relationships (I met them as a couple, so we all hung out) and even those I don't trust blindly. There's always a comment here and there that reminds me they have a penis in between their legs and it really puts things into perspective. I have only a couple single friends. An "interesting" thing I've heard from several guys throughout life is that if they're single and their female friends are single, they'll automatically …

I've seen it happen here on Reddit so Facebook probably has those too. Unfortunately, this has nothing to do with online dating and more to do with human depravity. Before the internet existed, there was already locker room talk, friends getting together to share their intimate encounters, etc. Of course now it's easier to do that, there's proof to show too. But until men/women learn to keep their private lives to themselves, there's nothing to be done. Online dating only facilitates an age old …

That's very true - I was too kind! I know some people swear by the Montessori method and I think one of its core ideas is getting the child to quickly learn to be independent as soon as possible by helping around the house with small chores, etc. Very interesting, and wish more moms followed that method with their sons, especially! Maybe they wouldn't grow up to be such delusional losers with too much self-esteem and nothing to show for it.

Men are terrible but their moms are to blame too! Why would you baby a grown man? Actually, as soon as they become a teenager they should learn to do basic chores and take care of themselves. But no, mommies baby them and then the girlfriends baby them and they obviously take advantage... My ex's mom was constantly trying to do everything for him. Yup, he's "too nice" and bends over backwards for everyone, to the point of being a doormat. It's honestly embarrassing. And I called him on it a few times like "you can't let people take advantage of you like that" or "you need to be firmer". The only person he took my advice to heart was myself 🤷‍♀️ So I got to see his true self, and he once confessed he might have taken out his built-up frustrations (like wanting to fuck another girl I guess) on me. I'm sorry if I made you feel bad in any way, that was not my intention at all. Honestly, I'm on that path as well. I have a low libido due to birth control, past trauma, etc. and was always one of the things I hated about being in a relationship - the pressure to perform or they would leave/cheat. It was extremely stressful, and felt like a chore most of the time. I personally feel like sex is super overrated. Every sitcom where the couple hates each other or the woman is constantly put down for comedic effect. My ex loves Dave Chapelle and the like. I was always uncomfortable about certain topics like him making fun of his wife but would still laugh. Some of his stuff is funny, but it's generally very offensive. A girl I know got tickets for a very famous comedian for her fiance's birthday. They both watch his content together and she laughs heartedly at the jokes about everything from child abuse to…

Wow, first time I'm hearing about this... I remember boobs always being such a big factor in attractiveness. I never knew a guy who liked smaller boobs, which made me kind of self-conscious to be honest. Mine are pretty average, not big, not small, but I always felt this pressure to get them bigger - it was one of the things I hated about getting into shape and losing weight: the boobs went too! I feel sorry for people who think it's okay to even mention that to you. What the actual fuck. What a…

I feel like men want younger women because they're incapable of facing they're getting older, uglier and less wanted and seeing their same-age wives every day is a reminder of that. So they go for younger girls that make them feel younger, and more attractive. It's a mirroring thing. Utimately, it's just an escape from reality, which will come and bite them in the butt regardless. Super sad and insecure. Most men are inherently cowardly and can't face their own mortality - just like they can't e…

Because, deep down, we know they're no good, will never be, and it's exhausting to keep trying. Maybe it's just a phase, but even if it is, we just go back to the very place we started in the end... Don't force anything. If you currently despise men, put dating on pause or it'll just be straight up torture.

I know right? I think my ex is being super nice to me because he's scared I'll tell everyone he cheated on me with his very good friend... He didn't even tell his mom he had broken up with me, or she would ask WHY, and she just assumed it was me who did it. Guess someone doesn't want mommy to find out he's not so golden boy after all (she proceeded to trash talk me and he still didn't admit it, though he did defend me - again, for his own gain). Own your shame, people.

The comments are just hard to read... Especially his. I didn't watch the whole video because that's just too much, and I've seen enough. Basically reading mean comments about her with her present, saying he'll never get married or have kids and she can just leave if she wants to... And if she does it'll be all the same to him. WTF Have no idea who he is but I'm pretty sure my ex follows his channel and watches his videos a lot 🤔 Know their role models and you'll know their real selves, I guess!

This is sickening... I hope someone in the thread is able to help her somehow. Maybe a woman who can provide her with some place to stay until she has the baby and can get her life together. I've seen it happen before so fingers crossed some good Samaritan sees the post and helps! It's truly disheartening to see she's reaching her lowest and is actually considering suicide... Yup, it's insane how some women swear by their man's character. I never once dated anyone I trusted 100% and I was still burned - they managed to destroy even my lowest expectations, which is truly a feat in itself. Either way, I would/will never say "this person would never never be capable of X", be it a romantic partner or anyone else, because people have the ability to surprise you in the worst way. I see it as me growing up and changing and being a human being who made/is going to make mistakes. Always. They don't define who I am and I'm the person I am today because I learned from those mistakes. I don't know if that works for everyone but that's what helped me move on from being an idiotic pick me (I'm still learning though, it's not an overnight thing). Just be sure to be kind to yourself and take it easy. Forgive your past self, let go of those who wronged you. You'll be fine 🙂

You should never compare yourself to anyone... What's important is that you feel good about yourself and your life. I'm sure it pains you to see your sisters in those situations but you shouldn't be made to feel bad for making good choices - stay single if you wish, or not. That's your choice. Better be the black sheep and happy than conform to society's standards and die unhappy.

Why even bother with men? Might as well stay single. I just don't see any reason why we'd want to go through the whole process of first finding one worth our time when the chances are he'll reveal to be an asshole down the road, and second stay in a relationship that will basically be a second job, both financially and emotionally taxing. Why not save myself the trouble and just not to go looking for anyone? Maybe I'm just bitter and can't see the light just yet... 🤷‍♀️

This might sound crazy but I actually did more for my ex when we were going through a rough patch/close to breaking up than in the beginning. I was very hesitant and didn't trust him at first so didn't really put in much effort - he was the one who love-bombed me and I had sex with him not even a month in. Nevermind him, or what he does, where he lives, whom he dates. Yes. They use the honesty card way too often as if it justifies everything ... And then when you call them on it they ask "what, you want me to lie instead?" It's too much for their emotionally deprived brain to understand basic human decency and compassion - to quote Thumper (a literal fictional rabbit) " if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all". And definitely don't attack me for wanting you to be the littlest bit considerate for my feelings.

I know a similar story too. One of my friend's mom attempted suicide when the children were small, she just couldn't take his behavior anymore. By some miracle, he changed overnight and became a loving husband and parent, completely alcohol and drug free. But again, that's the exception, not the rule. And for the woman to have to go to such lengths for him to get a wake up call is insane.

Men's love for women is the love for flowers: they pluck them right out of the dirt without a second thought, for their own interests. We're beautiful to look at and have but they don't give a shit about our wellbeing if it fits them. Might place us in a pretty vase or just an old glass, depending on their mood. Do the bare minimum for a while (change our water, maybe, if they're so inclined, or not at all). We'll just start wilting day by day (depending on our treatment, we'll last longer or di…

My ex would withhold affection and attention from me and when I asked (begged!) for them he would say (in a joking manner) that I hadn't done anything to deserve them... Yeah to this day I don't think I'd date a man with kids... Maybe if he were a single dad (mom had died or something like that) and even then, I just don't know if I could handle it. It's worse when there are other women in the picture though, you'll never be able to compete and he'll always have to prioritize his children (of course) but rarely do you see a healthy co-parenting arrangement that doesn't exude drama and ends up messing with your own relationship. I know, I feel so sorry for all of you but I'm glad he's able to handle it like a champ. How trash do you have to even think of breaking a happy family apart without a second thought? Makes me sick to my stomach. If I were to ever hit on a man and find out he was married, I'd be out of there before he even finished that sentence. Plus, I would never approach a man with his kids around with that sort of intention, he's very clearly taken.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy08/08/20 07:02 PM

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised... Unfortunately they know exactly who to prey upon, they can smell vulnerability a mile away and heavily exploit it.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy08/08/20 06:59 PM

Yup, men find the idea of having children so appealing because most of them aren't active participants anyway. It's just for show, or because their friends have large families, etc. They have something to prove (more babies = more testesterone = more manly men) as men, not as parents. Anyone can shoot a load and hit an egg, that doesn't take a lot of skill. But raising a child? Yeah that's the real challenge.

Unfortunately, there's no way to explain it to him because he won't get it. At all. She'll be wasting her breath. Nowadays, all 90% of them are useful for is procreation. Which you can get from an anonymous donor at a clinic or by adoption anyway, both of which don't require the woman to interact with said men. Soooo yeah. We can literally get everything else from our own selves, toys, and friends and family.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy08/08/20 06:42 PM

I'm so sorry he did that to you, I hope you're okay now. Men never fail to surprise us, and not in a positive way... I hope his girlfriend isn't aware of this because knowingly dating an abuser is possibly one of the lowest a person can go... And if she isn't, I hope she finds out before he does it to her!
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy08/08/20 06:39 PM

It's always hilarious when they realize you're confident to the point you know all of it so the compliments don't really faze you. So they go on to call you "conceited/full of yourself" just because their ego was bruised when they weren't acknowledged for their meager effort. So tragic.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy08/08/20 06:36 PM

And then argue "they couldn't help it, it was stronger than them!" As if they're animals without any type of restraint... It's scary. Yet cheating is seeing as completely normal and even expected...

People have no fucking boundaries. Women are more attracted to men who they perceive as "husband material" so the kids are like a beacon to them 🤮 Especially if they've been single for a while or recently divorced, so they're desperate for a man. It's like when that one guy no one paid attention to before (because he was so average) gets a girlfriend and all of a sudden all other girls are interested because, if he managed to get a girlfriend, then surely he must have something special about him…

I'm in a similar position. One of the things I made sure to tell my ex was "Once a cheater, always a cheater. And you can bet both of you will cheat again." She also cheated on her then boyfriend with mine, so guess they deserve each other.

Unfortunately I've met some of these women (and some I was friends with for a while back in the day). They rationalize it by saying they're single, so it's not their problem. It's the man who cheated, not them. It's not their responsibility. Like wtf, since when have we as a human race become this selfish and narcissistic? I don't get it. I would be disgusted if I accidentally got on with a married man without knowing, how would someone willingly accept it and be okay with it? Blows my mind.

There are happy lesbian relationships and unhappy ones too. There are good girlfriends and bad girlfriends. I've seen my share of toxic lesbian relationships so can't really say they have it easier just because their partner isn't a man. I do feel like it's an easier road to travel overall - just because you get each other more easily being both women, things are more apparent. When it comes to the romantic aspect of it, though, both sides have their big challenges and if you don't work on it an…

Thank you so much! Yeah it's hard not to make that connection when they played such a big part in the whole situation, I can totally understand where you're coming from. That's true and it was hard for me to get to the point where I didn't blame myself or thought I could have done this or that in order to keep him from cheating, which is insane. Yes!! I was suddenly clingy for wanting to watch a movie every now and again... and of course I DID become clingy and desperate because I felt this man pulling away from me and I had no idea why - which only made him pull away further. It was honestly one of my lowest moments and I don't plan to repeat it. Don't want to spend time with me? I know where the door is (to either leave or show it to him). Let him miss me then. Nope, never again. And she had a boyfriend too, so that means nothing. She wasn't happy with him and was just using him like my ex was using me. Well unfortunately that's what sells. If you don't make it look "mind-blowing" people's interest won't be picked, and with so much competition going around for the same things you need to really market yourself. But yes I agree to some extent. Sometimes people need to be told the obvious because they can't get there themselves - especially if they're too sad, depressed, or have low self-esteem. Sometimes you just need someone to point out something you missed - being on the outside is easier to …

And feels like because of everything she does she's entitled to "a few demands" here and there but only when HE deems them important? What do you mean? What I got from this was pretty much just that women shouldn't settle for NVM/LVM or give them second chances, wasting time when they should be moving on to better things. The only part I don't agree with is the need to be serial monogamist. Being alone is fine and leaving a relationship for no one is the ultimate goal. I felt, personally, it aligned with FDS values in general.

Yup, absolutely and that was the only thing I didn't agree with him. But everything else is very spot-on and great for anyone needing to get out of a toxic relationship or just being unhappy with what they're currently getting. I think the relationship-mindset is what sells so that's what he goes for, but really can be applied to anything - it doesn't much matter why you do it as long as you do do it. Beauty doesn't mean anything... Men have cheated/broken up with beautiful women before, and sometimes for a much "uglier" person. Doesn't make him automatically a good person but certainly makes him a better husband than all the low-lives I've seen leaving women for much less 🤷‍♀️ He might not be a HVM - I don't know him - but at least appears to be. Do you feel comfortable with both talking and silence, etc? Those are some good places to start. I think what FDS preaches is simply to set your own standards and stick to them. Your standards will be different from everyone else's: you don't like fancy dinners or expensive gifts and honestly, that's not uncommon. HVM don't have to be rich, they simply need to treat you well and be thoughtful. Being thoughtful means different things to different people. Again, set your own standards and boundaries and don't allow anyone in your life that doesn't fit the bill. The type of dates shouldn't mat…

If it was never clearly defined that you were indeed in a relationship, then you're definitely not. He's probably found someone else (I'm sorry but it's true) yet wants to keep you around as well. Long-distance is hard and not for everyone but some couples can do it - unfortunately, it was never said you were a couple so he's taking advantage of that to do whatever he wants - and to be honest, since there were no boundaries set, he can technically do it without feeling guilty. I'm so sorry you are feeling this way but know it's very normal. They can be extremely manipulative, especially after realizing YOU are dumping THEM - in order to avoid feeling rejected, they'll make you feel rejected instead. It's a really, really shitty tactic but very, very common. If you feel undesirable, not only will it empower them (you're just not good enough for THEM) but also will assure you won't go try and find someone else straight away (because your self-esteem is too low for that)…

Exactly. This guy acts as if we expect a "perfect" man when in reality we just want someone at the level we've worked hard to achieve ourselves. I would agree with him if men ACTUALLY planned to stay with the women who emotionally supported them. More often than not, they forget about them as soon as they find someone better who, now that they've achieved a certain level, will finally agree to have them. Took me more than a decade to figure out they were just being insecure little shits who projected because the "pain" of being rejected was too much for their precious egos.

Exactly. It's disgusting how you need to literally bring another male into the equation for them to back off - they respect that guy but not you! And sometimes not even that. It's scary being a woman nowadays. You can pretty much get killed just for saying "no" and people still argue we don't need feminism...

Thank you! I'm happy you think so even if I don't feel like it right now... That's really kind :) I wasn't ready to date this guy either. I was fresh out of another rollercoaster relationship with another loser, felt lost and confused, and he swooped in ready to make me feel better, loved and wanted, like a prince charming. I didn't stand a chance. But then, that's when you attract LVMs - they can literally smell the vulnerability. I know that now, just wish I'd known it back then! *cries* So I …

Yeah... That describes it perfectly. He still wants to use me like that. That's probably why he's been so nice lately, hoping we can still be friends and he has someone to lean onto if he needs it. I already told him I won't be his emotional crutch, to which he replied HE WOULD NEVER do that to me. Yeah well, I won't hold my breath. It's depressing how he's never apologized for what he did to me yet apologized to her so many times when I told him he had to cut contact (which, to his credit, I th…

But why? He could easily get another apartment with his income, and move away on his own. He just did! He was always complaining about something or another anyway. Like the dishes weren't clean, or the house hadn't been vacuumed, or whatever. He felt like because he was paying half the rent, he was entitled to having everything his way. I couldn't even leave a blanket on the couch because it wasn't "tidy". I would yell at him "THIS HOUSE IS NOT A FREAKING MUSEUM." He would sulk for days after th…

He definitely has narcissistic traits but he's managed to fool everyone into seeing him as a golden boy, including myself, and to this day my brain is still confused. My dad was a bit similar: he treated everyone else, even strangers, like royalty. Yet when it came to me and my mom, we were pretty much an afterthought if that. Sounds like the type of guy he is, and sounds like I need to work on my daddy issues before attracting anyone else similar! After making me go through shit the past couple…

The cheating was emotional, which to me is even worse but apparently, to men is a very gray area. To this day, he still doesn't understand why I make such a big deal about it. He said something along the lines of "are you still thinking about that?" when we had our break up fight and I brought it up. Like, YEAH, maybe it traumatized and hurt me like hell and maybe I still think about it after 5 months. Sorry I didn't get over it as quickly as you did. Then again, if it was not that big of a deal…

Truer words have never been spoken. I didn't want to pitch them against each other, I just don't want people to let him off easy. By all means, be his friend but know what he did to me - know why I don't want to be near him or his new fling, or why I decided not to stay friends (when he's such a good person after all). I just don't want to look like the bad guy who's trying to be difficult just because she's bitter. I'm bitter because someone cheated on me, gaslighted me, and made me go against …

Yes, unfortunately due to economic reasons we have to live together for another two months... Until our lease is up. After that I will either get my own place or stay at a friends house for a couple of months. It's scary because my job situation is not completely secure due to Covid and I can get fired at any time. I've been looking for a new one for months but so far, no luck. It doesn't bother me as much any more (he's scarily nice to me - more than he was when we were together), but I definit…

Personally, I would not date but I'm a decade older than you and have had my share... However, if I could go back in time that's exactly what I would do. I regret not having focused on my career more (that's why I'm struggling financially), my needs, and my goals. Ultimately, the only good reason for one to be dating at your age is to experiment and see what you like, want and need in a partner so that in the future you can make better choices. (Also to fulfill any sexual needs you might have - …

Are you sure you're not me? Honestly, what you described just now is exactly how I felt while in a relationship! I would neglect my hobbies and even friends and family because all I could focus on was them/us. Worst of all, I would go out of my way to engage in activities and hobbies they liked to "have something in common to do". Even worse than that: how they sometimes downplayed my tastes and instead suggested I did something else, which led me to not want to show them what I liked to do in m…

This. My parents' relationship definitely shaped my views of the world. One of the reasons I never wanted to get married or have kids (child of divorce) though that has somewhat changed a bit as I get older. I would witness my dad come home drunk, spend weekends away, and never even remember a moment where they were remotely nice, let alone loving towards each other. He was also an unrepentant cheater (who went so far as to leave his phole charging in the kitchen where my mom would see his mistr…

Lots of people use videochat to stay in touch with their loved ones during the pandemic so it wouldn't be too weird to ask for a videochat dinner date, in my opinion. You have no idea where this stranger has been, so be safe rather than sorry. You can still get to know them while having some nice food and drink and there's a little less awkwardness. And if you end up not enjoying their company or disliking them for some reason, it's much easier and quicker to leave!

That's one of the reasons I rarely show my face online: both for safety reasons but also to avoid lurkers thinking they have a say in my appearance. Though this doesn't exactly stop them either - I've had men unsolicitedly making comments about WHY I didn't have pictures of myself: some saying it was probably because I was ugly, while others tried to coax me into revealing myself (either to make themselves feel special or to make sure I wasn't too ugly to be an option - mind you this was never a…

You're absolutely right. I honestly don't think most would, but there are a few who maybe only accepted me and hung out because I was his girlfriend in the first place (some were his college friends, and their respective partners). Those I don't care about, though. It's difficult because he is the ultimate "nice guy" to everyone, someone who's always helpful and wouldn't hurt a fly. Whereas I was considered "a bitch" by some because I would speak my mind and not allow myself to be a doormat (I m…

Same here... I'm 28 and feel like I've wasted so much time and energy trying to please others (not just men, but people in general) when I should have focused on myself. I only started dating at 19 and had only two serious relationships: one lasted one year and a half and the other 7+ years. That's a huge chunk of your life to waste on ultimately meaningless stuff. The only good takeaway are the lessons learned. Due to this experience, I (hopefully) won't end up an unhappy and broke divorcé with…

On one hand, it sounded so much straightforward back then. On the other, you got stuck with all sorts of wrong people (sometimes for the rest of your life) because of it. But I do wish it were easier to find someone good and honest and compatible without having to go through all the stress and heartache of modern dating. I can't imagine myself going back there anytime soon (recently got broken up with), particularly because of how emotionally taxing it feels - also the sheer amount of wasted tim…

This also acts as a reminder of how many people still see physical abuse as "the last straw", when emotional abuse should be just as important (and is, instead, often brushed off). It's sad because a punch/kick never comes out of the blue - there is always a lot of emotional abuse behind it that was either overlooked or misunderstood until it escalated. That's why it's so important to gtfo before it gets to this point (because, trust me, it will).

I like that he at least admits it's hypocritical of men to call women out when men are the ones supporting the industry. I'm a bit confused though: he says he quit porn but then goes on to say he watches porn to support women? Or is he just trying to expose some guys' idiotic reasoning to watch porn?

I definitely need to learn this... I'm feeling incredibly vindictive over my ex and the girl he cheated on me with (whom I thought was a good friend to us both) and am constantly debating whether I should expose them both to our group of friends or not. It would seem petty and sound like I was just the crazy ex going around spewing lies (trust me, everyone will have a hard time thinking my ex capable of doing something so vile) but I feel it's so unfair that he gets to act all knight in shining …

I'm so sorry to hear it... I honestly wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. I'm glad you're doing better and it certainly is a great lesson. I feel the exact same way. Thank you! This forum definitely came at the perfect time. I wish I'd known about it sooner to avoid all this heartache, but I guess there's no better way to learn! Right now, I'm so traumatized I don't think I'll be dating ever again. I just can't seem to wrap my mind around the fact that most men always cheat, and I would always…

Thank you so much! I feel extremely gaslighted. I have no idea which parts were my fault and which were his anymore - it's like I was the difficult one who made him turn on me. I admit I might have been at first (my fault, I'd just broken up with someone else and decided to get involved with another person not only a month after, which I clearly wasn't ready for and was very defensive) but I did start trying hard to be a better girlfriend later on. I don't think I ever did anything close to unfo…

Thank you so much for the kind words. You and me both... I think I failed to mention this man is considered a "nice guy" by everyone we know, wouldn't hurt a fly - a good person, good friend, good son, etc etc. I thought so too, until we started dating and certain issues came to light: he was exceedingly confident and controlling, though disguised it as concern and "taking care of me". He constantly pushed me to do things I didn't want to do, then got annoyed because "I never wanted to try anyth…

That is a very good point. I've only had two boyfriends my whole life, both of which I considered serious enough to meet my family (both turned out disappointments). And I remember how much my mom, especially, suffered when I told her the relationship was over. I think it's not just the energy and time THEY spent on those men, but seeing you so devastated afterwards. I know I was a wreck each time and it made my parents so incredibly sad that I'd gone through something so emotionally taxing. The…

This. My ex used to use the excuse "you need to get healthy" to practically force me to go to the gym with him. (I HATE the gym.) All the while commenting how it would make me firmer. (He'd insist I wasn't bad, just could be better!) Whenever I refused to go, he'd say "Well, guess I'll go alone... Stare at other girls' asses... Because my girlfriend doesn't want to come." They make it sound like jokes when it's straight up emotional blackmail. I'm disgusted by how much I put up because I was/sti…
