https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAuO5GyWTrk I do not know if I can think of anything but this, but it is pure comedic gold, given that the hero of this story makes it clear that a) he will not let himself be slapped b) your behavior will not be overlooked just because you are a woman and c) it shows exactly that kind of entitled, childish attitude of certain women being called out. The series also reverses the usual trope of peeping (the main female lead does it on the hero and he calls her out …

Well, in Germany, where I live, I can think of those of the top of my head: Bodily Integrity. We may not have circumcision for the most part, but religious circumcision of boys is tolerated, unlike female circumcision. Military Service. Germany has very recently stopped to enforce it, but every male citizen had to either be checked for military service elgibility OR do social services. Women on the other hand can do this voluntarily. Exhibitionism is a crime specifying a male offender. You can a…

Well, either it does work, or it might hasten the downfall of an unworkable system. Both outcomes seem better to me than specifically rewarding people for the least desirable behavior. And most welfare systems tend to do exactly that.

It is rather like Major Pete. You get those candidates who at the start seem reasonable enough, but whether because they just show their true color or whether you have to play the crazy leftist game to get anywhere, those guys end up saying really egregious things that rather quickly erode the common sense they seem to have exhibited. I see this male self denigration all the time and especially as a gay man, it just completely baffles me. I mean, sure, I can get that many of these men might have…

Well, we already have universal basic income for highly irresponsible women. "Extending the franchise" to everyone else would at the very least be a step towards equality before the law... As a replacement to our current welfare systems across the globe, it's wastefulness and perverse incentives, I think UBI is likely an improvement.

The funny thing is, feminists actually occasionally do come over to us gay guys and tell us our "objectifying" of each other is somehow in the end causing harm to women... Because remember, any kind of male sexuality is evil.

...it is really interesting how when you actually look at people you know, you hardly ever find those general attitudes about always having to take those mostly rather pointless "security measures". ...and strangely, at the same time, we get those stories about solo female travelers in countries that are actually warranting a certain level of basic safety precautions which said travelers ignore... Almost like those whole laundry lists of things women apparently always do are maybe not a woman th…

I think that fundamentally, switching genders on any kind of thing is always fair play. ...because that is after all how you can expose most of the misandric crap alive and well in our culture. So, yeah, do point out that there is a bit of a silly belief there. ...though as a gay man, I would point to the fact that you get exactly the same kind of ideas floating around about the sphincter, just saying, and those jokes and tropes are almost always aimed at men. ...and also let us not forget that …

I am not sure that that is the key issue. A lot of the lynching of men over dubious accusation seems to be carried out by very masculine and not exactly submissive guys. And I see guys like that still putting down other men. On the other hand, you can quite easily be an effeminate and submissive man and take issue with this stuff - I am a gay guy and I think I fit both attributes. I think the key problem is that a lot of men seem to have low empathy and outright dislike for other men. There is a…

I honestly think that is a bit of a common law problem. Not that civil law systems are perfect, I mean, just look at the femicide laws in some nations, but I think the basic approach is a bit more conducive to having things be more generalized and abstracted - and that will often preclude having the same degree of sex specific laws like rape being defined as something only men can do and women be victim of, etc. And things like the explicit privilege of infanticide by a mother being a lesser cri…

In Germany, threatening someone with what we call a "empfindliches Übel", which seems to be treated as a disadvantages significant enough to be perceived as a motivating threat, to get them to perform a sex act or let it be performed on them is part of the legal definition of rape, just saying. While it was part of the 2016 reform of the paragraph which I think has some questionable aspects, I think moving this from simple coercion to sexual coercion / sexual assault / rape is not a bad thing. I…

I can only state, over and over, that this kind of rhetoric looks especially insane from a gay male perspective. Maybe some men can somehow delude themselves, despite the entire industries full of erotic fantasies aimed at women, that there is some weird, convoluted way in which pornography is wrong and demeaning towards women and all that other idiocy about sexuality and attraction, but maybe it could make some of them reconsider to think of the fact that gay men are happily sexualizing each ot…

Whenever something is present in a wide variety of different and unrelated cultures, I would feel a bit critical about calling it nurture. It can be, to a degree, but if it is, then there is usually a certain inborn element in creating the environment that produces it. First of all though, there is the fact a majority of people are not violent to start with, male or female. Yes, most people likely will have at least been violent as a child once or twice, usually within their own gender peer grou…

To be fair, it says "words or action". But it runs into either of two problems. A) Both parties give different accounts of what words or action were present, thus we usually just end up with the same situation and nothing is gained. B) We end up putting the word of the alleged victim over that of the defendant and then we really do have guilty until proven innocent because then, the weighing of the evidence STARTS in favor of guilt. It just honestly is per definition a pretty mess if the only di…

I am a gay man myself and I do hope that with hostility towards gay men coming from straight men being overall on a decline, there will be less gay men who in return ave resentment towards straight men. If I look at some prominent pro feminist gay men, I think many of them are basically still mostly stuck in the mindset of high school and see most straight men in that light. ...which then of course makes them prone to being feminists. Sam Harris also was dismissive of male circumcision as being an issue and frankly seems to have a complete blindspot when it comes to his biases regarding Trump vs Clinton (it was really rather amusing when he tried to play it like "oh, I admit Clinton was bad in many ways too, I would have supported any other sane republican over her, etc.", and then forgets that he was clearly pro Clinton when she was still in the race against Sanders). The single mother bit may explain a lot of it. The proble…

Also, I do think there is a legitimate case for that, at least in principle. Parents forcing a transsexual child to behave according to how they think someone of their biological sex should and thus ignoring that child's gender dysphoria would be abusive. Given that authorities often are, if anything, very slow and hesitant to remove a child from their parents, even in cases of very genuine abuse or neglect, I see the abuse potential of this, but I do not think it is necessarily going to be an i…

I do remember how a less long prison sentence in the Brock Turner case created a furor - and that was at least a situation where there was not a clear admission or irrefutable evidence... If you are only talking about America in this context, I frankly do not think you should be talking about liberal or conservative as an absolute in the first place. And well, Farrage and Le Pen are both basically "fringe right" parties that try, just like the German AfD, to overtake the "establishment right" parties. I think though that it is not really sensible to talk of conservatives in this case, because European conservative parties, the center right ones, do not have any good record here. …

Some youtubers recently have made a great effort to do anti pedophilia videos. I felt rather uneasy about the tone they were employing an their rhetoric and I think I shall message some of them this article. no matter how justified you feel to be morally outraged, when you express your desire to inflict violence on someone for "maybe having molested a child", you are being a monster yourself. Quite true, I live in Germany, we have a kind of "sliding age of consent law", where there are different levels from 14 to eighteen. Though it only makes a stronger case against this kind of statistic being used. I personally believe that the factor of abusing someone's lack of maturity or one's social position relative to someone else is in the end the more decisive factor than mere age, so I believe in laws which factor in such aspects being more sensible then a universal age of consent law. I…

It speaks of "boys aged 16 to 19" in the context of child molestation. I think it is really problematic to lump sex with legal adults and sex with children together like that, when there is an age of consent law of eighteen. Also, I am pretty certain that I have read of studies that actually a majority of pedophiles molesting boys do not identify as gay and do not engage sexually with male adults... There is a big difference between discrimination or hardship one faces due to what people do who we already consider as bad or even criminal and discrimination that is perpetrated or endorsed by the public as a whole or by institutions. Most importantly though, while you cannot change every single person to not behave badly towards any specific group, you can actually change the laws, the institutions and the accepted public opinion. And how exactly does sexual violence outweigh murder (which mo…

"Equal opportunities" is just one of those phrases which is useless in its lack of content. Obviously no two humans have exactly equal opportunities, their different genetic make up and life experience makes sure, that both will have different chances, abilities, etc. which in turn certainly affect opportunities. There also is plenty of guro porn, snuff porn and all sorts of things online, frankly, not even feminists seem to have tried to promote the idea of murder and torture culture. Better yet, pornography featuring "rape" are produced and consumed by women in great numbers. And a lot of that explicitly aims to appeal with the idea of the consumer taking the point of view of the "victim". I think it is exactly this idea of putting the burden on men is the problem: Everyone can do his part to change things, saying that women have no control about those ills is lazy, dishonest and a prime way to breed that victim mentality. It is true of course that many things have been achieved by men, by individual men that is, by people making a great contribution. Frankly, that does not give any single man a group responsibility to fix things because he also is a man more than it gives this re…

It should be fine to "objectify" anyone, as long as it follows the normal rules of handling other people's photographs and such. Finding a human body attractive is not immoral, looking at other people is not immoral, creating a situation where no one is shamed for their appreciation or made to feel that they are required not to admit it should be desirable. If women get more open about appreciating male bodies, then at least they give up that ridiculous pseudo moral high ground of feeling entitl…

Given that individual muslims can be pacifists and individual christians can go to holy wars, despite their own scriptures being at odds with that, yes. But that fact can be a bit of a red herring. Religions, especially those with rather constant holy scripture will tend to revert to that preserved core. And all those things are definitely not interchangeable. Neither the old nor the new testament have a general prescription for holy wars, Islam on the other hand comes with Quran suras which pre…

Well, that is true of course. But it makes the whole masculinity versus Islam thing even more interesting in a way. There is a more or less inherent and unchangeable component of Islam (the Jihad, persecution of infidels and other, etc.) that directly links to terrorism and such. The Islamic faith does indeed, unlike masculinity, promote those things, even when people can ignore it and live their lives according to their normal human instincts and not the potential "cultural conditioning" toward…

Too much unsubstantiated claims... Sorry, but few people will take a claim of superior intuitive judgment seriously if it does not have a good basis, and neither other unsubstantiated claims. There is a key difference and one feminists with their ideas of rape culture and similar are prone to try to conceal: Men who commit acts of terrorism, mass murder and similar are a minority. For every such man, you will find a greater number of men, like the police men stopping them, who will risk their well being protecting others from harm. Moreover, you will find only very few men who condone criminal behaviour, and especially things like mass murder. And despite that, we actually do treat m…

People like Pinker, despite him, I think, being rather obviously biased still in bringing forth the "civilizing influence of feminisation" argument, which gets much less actual supporting compared to anecdotal evidence and seems to be if anything at odds with some of his other mechanism (if anything, by his reasoning, men should have civilized women like states with their tendency to take way the need to use violence personally from them), at least cure people of the notion that "back then, it w…

Whenever someone offers a model for "how the earliest human societies worked" and then uses this in relation to any argument about a contemporary ideology, philosophy, etc., you can be almost certain that it is complete nonsense. Any such models are mostly speculation, evidence is scarce, ethnigraphic parallels (looking at contemporary indigenous cultures in various places) is attractive, but similarily flawed as the "cave men" concept. The "no polyandry" statement is simply false and he only refers to a very incomplete source which then leads to him saying "all polyandry is fraternslal polyandry", which is frankly not true, even though it seems to be a very common form among those societies where it occurs. Just the Wikipedia article on Polyandry has more information. More than that I really do find it fallcious when a…

So at the one hand, we now need women only comparents in trains, women only Uber services, women only rooms inuniversities, etc. ...but segregation is a bad thing. Or is the logic simply that there should be women only things, but never male only things, because women should be free to choose whether they are in danger because of men or whether they are better than men and shall therefore beat them at everything if just the evil system did not hold them down?

that is your opinion, you are of course free to it, but I frankly do not think there is any meaningful argument of why random things like that create any gameplay elements which are not to be had in a game with customization. And even then. It is one thing to be forced to play with a random character, you can always decide if you want to just restart or walk away from the game before spending your time playing. Having things irrevocably changed for no good reason still is a weird move which I th…

Because male self hatred is a big thing? I came across many men who basically deify women and loath men. It can be seen in the men who are disgusted by the male body, or those who do not have nor care about male friends. I think it has been addressed by MRAs sometimes, but I think it deserves more attention that some males really seem to have "internalized misandry". We talk about media that denigrates men so often, much of it is done by men, and not only to pander to female audience.

Wow, that is so much nonsense just randomly thrown out as if it was fact... Let us face it, no one is happy when a game, for whatever reason, just changes things that relate to you for no good reason. Prople are already upset enouhh about game balance changes that might make their favourite options weaker, but they actually get reasons for that, even if it may be bad ones. I also love how they basically say "oh, it is such a double standard because so many games are written with a malr lead in m…

Fascinating how when he goes on about all the evidence being weak and femnism being that powerful and convincing that he does kot really put out mich more than "it is other men, not women who police male gender roles". Congratulation, that is actually something most MRAs will happily tell you applied to both women and men. Policing of gender roles will be often predominantly done by other people of said gender, what a big surprise. Also, I have not really seen any serious MRA arguing about the e…

I do not think that is a good argument. Basically, the fact that art is and should be free (within the limits of the law, after all, plagiarism and similar definitely are sensible limits) does not mean it should be free from criticism. If feminists just stuck to viciously tearing apart atuff in literary reviews with the most seething words, I think no one would have problems with that. The issue is wanting to ban things that offend not the fact that people find them offensive. Art is free, cirti…

I have read a good couple of studies advocating sex segregation in schools, citing quite a plethora of reasons. I did find a number of them worth considering, but i find it rather amusing that after sex segregated schools long being touted as being bad for girls, it is now seen as being bad for women to have coeducation... I guess what it really shows most of all is that people like that will never be happy.

You can more or less make that a general rule of thumb. If there are two opposing groups and you do not know which one is in the right, try to approach both. If only one will dismiss evidence (or deny giving any) on a whole, or work with faulty data, or outright attack and drive you off when professing or being suspected of being a member of the other group, you can make them being on the wrong side a solid working hypothesis. If both act that way, then get out of the whole mess and find a solid…

The problem with feminism is that they really have mostly run out of actual problems. Pretty much all first world countries have no laws or ordinances or other such thing that treat women worse than men, there are no special priviledges that are granted to men but not to women. Quotas of women in business or politics are all basically asking for the state to intervene to help women and to do so necessarily at the expense of men.
