I think the general rule of seduction (being playful and confident) applies here, as it does everywhere. I'm just wondering if it was the line (or what I'm calling breaking the fourth wall) that succeded or if it was just the attraction I had built earlier that did its magic.

I like to think of it more as breaking out of the game, and pointing out the attraction between us without being too direct. I don't remember the exact response, but I used it as an exuse to K-close, as we were this close to each other. This I left out intentionally, and I now see it was a bad idea to not give all info. I've used this just this one time, with great success, which is why I'm asking for your experience with this kind of line.

Well, I apologize for not remembering, but it was a few weeks ago and I've wanted to write this out before, but I haven't had the chance. The point of this wasn't my specific approach, but rather finding out if other people have tried to do the same with different lines/reactions.

If you wanna pull it even further, she should know you from your voice alone. "Hi I'm MarSchAal from that bar last friday" does exactly the same as "Hey [insert inside joke here]", she now remembers you. However, doing the latter anchors the image if you as a fun person (or any other emotion depending on the reference), and does, IMO, much more for you. Written on phone on a shaky bus so excuse grammar please.
