One piece of advice is really annoying me in this thread. If you actually care about your career, you can't just not go to any company parties. Like it or not, advancement in pretty much any field requires varying degrees of interacting socially with your coworkers at least a little. Yeah, if you're flipping burgers at McD's or in some low level dead end job somewhere you can get away with it...but anything even slightly up the ladder you can't.

Someone who is transferring out was having trouble getting their pet out here (it can be annoying and expensive). Someone advised them to get it certified as a service dog. I was impressed with someone in the group for shutting that shit down and even making a separate post saying not to do or advise that.
