I mean, yes, I've heard women say that, but I don't think they mean it. It just feels like one more way to make themselves seem approachable/relatable.

Men's mental health is a valid and important cause. If that's the underlying problem you want to address then you should lose the "Men's Day" language. That only makes it sound like you're pouting about not getting enough attention, one day after Women's Day.

Basing your self worth on any kind of external validation is not generally great. But hey - that's a pretty major part of the human condition.

That’s awesome! Having non-romantic relationships and friendships with the opposite sex is very important for growth.

You "handle" it by just moving on and going your own way. You don't owe someone else any explanations.

Good Lord, yes... Her: What's wrong? Me: Nothing's wrong, I'm irritated. Her: About what? Me: It's not something I want to talk about. Her: But if you talk about it you'll feel better! Me: I don't need to feel "better". I'm okay with feeling negative emotion and working through it on my own. You're the one in this situation who's uncomfortable and who has a problem with it.

when I challenged her on that claim Why would you even bother talking to this person and engaging? That's exactly the kind of attention she wants.

An incel is fixated on sex and comes up with a bunch of crazy reasons to justify terrible behavior. MGTOW means you are focused on yourself, and self improvement, and aren't interested in compromising that for the sake of a relationship with someone else.

My man... take a breath. What are you even thinking like this for? I think you are grossly over analyzing the very extreme case in a highly unlikely scenario. I'm not saying it could never ever happen. But is this how you want to live your life? You're getting all worked up and planning for something that will probably never ever happen.

They are superficial for exactly the reasons you cite. It’s quantity over quality. And while someone who is getting neither would probably take it and call it good. It still doesn’t equate to a meaningful relationship. It’s just a bunch of hookups and dinners that ultimately don’t result in an actual connection.

I’m of the opinion that it’s a waste of time to try to get someone wound up like that. But if you’re going to, Ive found the best way to do it is to stare at their eyebrows with a slight look of curiosity. And then when they ask “What are you looking at?” you just say “Oh. Nothing.”

It comes down to your motivation. Are you helping someone because they're a cute piece of ass and you wanna get in there, or because you're a decent human being who wants to do good in the world? Would you help that person if they were a man? Then help the person. Not everything has to be about the gender. It's perfectly reasonable to Go Your Own Way and not be a complete asshole to people.

How invested you are in self improvement has nothing to do with your age, it's all about your own mentality. You decide how important that is in your life. If you stay a bachelor, your life will definitely be much different from most of your friends. But you can choose to still be friends with them! I'm in a group of guys and we are of all walks of life, some younger, some older, some married, one life long single guy. It works, if you value the friendship. It will just be harder and harder to r…

"Can you get me X?" is a classic one. I agree that the best way to handle it is to feign confusion or disinterest, or that you are too busy to have noticed the request. She wants attention. That's why she's asking for a favor. So ignoring her is what will drive her really crazy.

It really is daunting to think about. They have near-infinite options with little to no effort. There is literally no consequence to them turning down or ghosting on 99.9% of the people they come into contact with on a dating site.

Sorry this happened to you, that really sucks to be used like that. But... You don't need justice, or revenge. the best revenge is living a good life without her. That money is gone, you made a mistake. She's never going to give it back, and there's no reasonable "legal action" that won't cost you even more money in the long run. Time to move on my man.

I guess where I'm coming from is this - a lot of times people try to deal with their problems by attempting to control their environment instead of learning to deal with and manage their emotions. When you say you want to avoid all women because it bothers you, I feel like you'd be better served learning WHY that bothers you and fixing that, instead of spending your whole life trying to avoid something you cannot realistically control.

I would encourage you to push through it, and learn to be okay with it. Retreating socially and trying to filter out half of the planet's population is an uphill battle for the rest of your life. It's normal human behavior to need interaction and socialization. The judgement you feel is indeed coming from insecurity. You won't beat that beast by running from it.

Lots of good advice so far. Definitely be careful with your protection. Always use a condom that YOU brought. Don't even get in there for a hot second without one. Don't chase anyone down, and don't base your self worth on other people's attention. It's cliche, but just be yourself, and try to be the best version of yourself. Ditch the "I'm a 7" talk. Don't assign numerical value to yourself (or anyone else) because it's all relative. My 10 is someone else's 6, it doesn't matter and it's damagin…

I'm sorry, that's definitely discriminatory. Depending on how important the job is to you, how good the pay is, you can fight that kind of treatment, because it does sound like discrimination. But that's a lot of effort (and likely money) just to make your point. An employee does NOT have to justify with personal details, and you should not be punished with extra work, or a hostile environment because you chose not to volunteer for more work. Don't lie, that's almost guaranteed to blow up in your face. Stand up for yourself. Tell them you aren't available, and just leave it at that. If that's not good enough, then so be it. Maybe you aren't being a "team player" but that's up to them to decide. And if your time is less valuable because you don't have kids, then that's not really a team you want to be on.

Divorce means starting over in a LOT of ways. It might be that you will have to practice at making friends and meeting people. You may not have many interests now because like many people, you focused on your marriage and your job to the exclusion of personal happiness and fulfillment. Currently that field is being dominated by sleazy "coach" types that want to "sell you their secrets" to make easy money by "owning your own business". That should be a huge red flag on its own. Drop shipping is being a middle man, and pushing things from A to B. It's not your product, it's likely not even your site driving sales. It's a huge amount of volatility and risk involved the way these programs are designed. I'm not saying it's impossible to make money like that, but it's difficult, and…

I don't really think this age of digital worship is any better for the men. It's safer, I suppose, in that you can't catch a disease, or get her pregnant. It's just wish fulfillment and fantasy only making it slightly more real. I don't think that's particularly healthy.

I feel like MGTOW attracts a "Look out for number 1" mentality and I really don't think it has to be like that. For me MGTOW means being aware of risks, and managing them, and protecting yourself, but not always at the expense of generosity and compassion. I think you can help others and be a good person, and be generous in ways that don't expose you to risk. You just have to be mindful about it.

I don't think it's so much about getting attention as it is an attempt to get validation. I also think it is part of the human condition to want to be validated and reassured that you're on the right path. It is hard to trust yourself, and so we reach out to people to get validated. sometimes in healthy ways, many times in unhealthy ways.

The man's infidelity is really a separate issue altogether. He could just as easily be cheating on his wife with someone for free. As to the sugar relationships - I dabbled in something like this shortly after I got divorced. Every person has the capacity for any kind of behavior. Time will hopefully be on your side. This person doesn't deserve your energy or attention. Move on because she doesn't matter. This will seem cheesey, but it might help - pretend you're calling her, pretend to have this conversation with her, and say out loud to your phone everything you wish you'd said. I know that seems dumb, but as a role-play exercise it can actually be very therapeutic. Get that shit OUT of you, by saying it out loud, even if she doesn't actually hear it. Good luck!

I love carbs way too much. I'd eat pasta and bread all day every day if I could. This year I was the heaviest I've been in my life, and pretty unhappy about my looks. I give you credit for putting so much effort into this response, I really do. But as someone who sells sex dolls your perspective is not really objective. I get that a lot of people in MGTOW subscribe to that idea, that the only way to be successful is to isolate and try to have complete and total control over your situation. I think there are a lot of things that I am more likely to say No to now that I've learned about MGTOW. I have a lot more self respect, and I don't listen to anyone that tries to tell me what my priorities should be. This seems to be a really common mantra around here, and I really don't agree. You don't have to eliminate everyone in your life that doesn't agree with you 100%. That just creates an echo chamber and hampers personal growth. I think life is full of choices and compromises, and going your own way doesn't have to mean you exist in isolation.

I think it's probably good for you to be around people like them every once in a while to remind yourself of what you are trying to avoid. You will be the best example possible by living a happy and fulfilling life yourself. When they complain about their partners, you can just smile and say "I never have that problem any more...". It doesn't have to be antagonistic, or overt. Just be the change you want to see in other people.

Head to a used bookstore and just look through their stuff. Try to find something that focuses on introduction to principles first, so you can learn how to read the diagrams. After that I would say that you should just try to find a book that has a lot of different kinds of models so you can get a variety of stuff. I believe it is part of the human condition to seek out validation. It can come from a lot of places, but only when it comes from within (or from a higher power if that's your bag) are you truly in control of it. Seeking validation externally is a trap and eventually it will fail you.

If this is just a vent, I feel you. If you want a real answer to the rhetorical question, it's because women get so damn many matches, lierally hundreds at a time, they can afford to be as picky as they want and will dismiss anyone who does not immediately engage with them. You asked about her school. At that moment on that day, she didn't want to talk about that, so the easiest thing to do was to just shut it down and take you off the list. It's not personal (nothing about Tinder is).

It can be VERY hard to say no to something you want. Even if only part of you wants it. When it comes to women and sex, primal urges kick in and make men do some truly stupid shit. But we aren't animals, and we can control ourselves if we try, and THAT is very empowering.

I don't like them personally, but I don't see anything fundamentally wrong with supporting friends or loved ones if they've decided to get married. Plus, hopefully a good meal and some dancing if the DJ doesn't suck.

In high school, me and my best friend were both into this cute blonde surfer girl. At her request, the three of us went to Six Flags. She spent all day with us, and we footed the bill. She didn't pay to get in, food, drink, anything, we drove her over 2 hours round trip (lived in a rural area). The whole time we were there, she'd walk ahead of us, didn't want to sit together or talk much, so it wouldn't look like she was with us. At one point, my friend and I go on a ride, and when we come back,…

And when she clamps her legs around you? You don't know fear until a girl tries that horseshit.

That was my experience. It was less that $500, done in a single visit, and recovery was maybe 3 days tops. There was some discomfort during the procedure, and soreness, but that's it. No strenuous activity for a week and then all the peace of mind in the world.

If someone ditched me like that I can't imagine getting so worked up and worried about it. Of course she's not back at your place, she's off fucking the guy that texted her at dinner.

It's all one big bid for validation. Today's younger generations are going to be severely handicapped when it comes to being able to self-validate.

I don't know much about tiny homes, but I lived in a mobile home for 3 years. When we moved in, it was only about 5 years old and had been used by a single resident. It was in great condition. After three years, it had depreciated in value and so many things had fallen apart that when it came time to move, we had to just sell the land, and the MH added no additional value. It was torn down by the new buyer so they could build a home there instead.

Common law marriage is probably the biggest concern for me right now. In my state, it seems to require a specific declaration from both parties, so I believe I am safe there, but I intent to get some legal counseling first.

Thanks, this is my primary concern. Do you have any recommendations short of just starting a Google path of how I can find out what exactly the common law marriage laws are in my area?

I know many MGTOW prefer to be in isolation or on their own. But the truth is that many people thrive on companionship. Some of my best times in life were living with other friends and building something together. That's a good feeling. Yes, it means that you give up complete and total control over your situation in some aspects, but that's a trade off. Being clean enough/too clean is really not a big deal to me. I would only room with someone I already trusted, so I'd have to assume they weren'…

Life is full of choices that involve various levels of risk. I'm trying to make intelligent decisions by asking about the associated risks. So, in a way, yes your pyromaniac comparison is apt. It's all well and good to give a flat "No don't live with anyone ever" response. But I'm trying to get to the heart of the specific reasons why many (most? all?) MGTOW do not cohabitate.
/r/MGTOW20/12/18 02:53 PM

So you wouldn't ever live with someone else, even if they were not a romantic partner? You'd never have a roommate of any kind?

Had an ex who used to try this all the time. She would buy expensive gifts for birthdays, Christmas, etc. Even though she was bad with money and in debt. I called her out directly, and said "It's your money, but it isn't necessary to spend that much. I am definitely not going to 'keep up' with you. And then when I would not reciprocate in kind (in terms of value, I am actually a great gift giver) she would always have a sort of thinly veiled pout for a while. And then down the road, she'd …

A lot of women hate the idea of being made accountable for themselves. Seeing a fair bit of that right now with my partner. She brings a lot less to the table, and I refuse to support her or go beyond what I am personally comfortable with. I can tell she has this expectation that she's just just to being "taken care of" but that's not going to happen with me.

Wow, that's awful. She can only compare and complain, instead of trying to make her own life with your better and more rewarding. You don't have to have money to be happy.

One of the things that really helped me learn to eat better was the learning concept of satiety (feeling full/statisfied). Most junk food gives you satiety because it is heavy and calorie dense. Same with carbs/breads. Which is why I'd always eat huge bowls of rice and pasta multiple times a day and then get fat. So, the trick is to find foods that still fill you up and give you the satiety you are looking for but aren't as bad for you. I had better luck with things like big salads, lots of eg…

My take - dolls are a very expensive masturbation accessory. It's not about companionship, it's a tool. some people need and want that kind of tool, so cool, you do it your way. But it is an object designed to be used for sexual gratification. It's not a healthy surrogate for actual human interaction. And if you ARE treating an inanimate object like a companion, then that's cause for worry. I think there are a lot of healthy ways you can have positive human interaction (not romantic) with men …

I daydream about this all the time. I watch shows about compact trailers and pull-behind rigs that are very minimalist and think: "Man, that would be the life. Just move around, un-tethered, me and a dog..."
