I’m not getting sucked into rage bait.

My urologist wouldn’t perform my vasectomy without talking to my wife and me together. Fortunately, we were on the same page, but if she wasn’t, he wouldn’t perform the procedure. Between forced to sign up for selective service and not having autonomy over my own body, I feel like a second class citizen.

Have her move out if it’s so uncomfortable to her?

100% regret it. Had mine after our second child. Now I want another kid so bad it hurts.

I’m getting the house in mine and I can’t wait for her to move out. Give it more time than the spring if you can handle it. Do something, anything, to make it feel like your home, that is only your home. Build from that.

Texas still uses alimony but it’s called spousal maintenance. It’s harder to get but it’s still used.

My wife and I are slowly going through our separation. Trying to do what’s best for our kids and not destroy each other while we’re at it. At first it was awful. I hated her. Dead bedroom and all but I still wanted to be intimate with her. She told me her brain can’t process separating but still being on such good terms that we’re intimate but she’s finally come around to it. We hold hands. Cuddle in bed. Have sex here and there. Tell each other “I love you”. Still plan on one of us moving out i…

There’s a podcast that sounds like what you’re planning called the Divorced Dadvocate. Jude Sandvall is the host. He generally has a guest on to talk through different topics. He’s on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, etc. You should give it a listen. Maybe reach out to him for suggestions or to be on his podcast.

Theres no point to it for most men. No fault divorces made it even worse than it was before.

Every situation is different and should be treated as such. Not a blanket and archaic solution.

Because of the financial windfall they experience through divorce courts. I tell single men to get a prenup no matter how little they feel they have. Imagine being in your late 40s well positioned for retirement then your wife takes half of your retirement money, setting you back a decade or more. You can’t make catchup contributions past the annual maximums. Hell, if you’re paying alimony and child support you may never catch up.

Thanks. I’m not through it yet. Plan to file after Christmas so the kids have a regular Christmas one more year. Just getting all my ducks in a row in the meantime.

My wife will get half of my 401k which is larger than hers by a wide margin. I’ve tried to convince her to contribute more to hers but she won’t do it. She’ll get the house or half the equity. It was my savings that paid the down payment. She’ll get alimony even though she recently took a lower paying job willingly due to “job stress”. She’ll get child support even if we have 50/50 custody. I’m losing a fortune and half the time with my kids. My wife is making out like a bandit.

Yeah. I just reread and saw he would have to refinance to buy her out. Didn’t see that the first time. Still probably cheaper to do that than buy another house. I’d consider cashing out some of my 401k to buy her out instead.

Depends on the interest rate. If he has one that’s super low it’s a huge financial hit to sell then buy a new home at today’s rates. I wouldn’t sell my house for anything.

Her “support” group will never own the damage they’re causing. My wife has a group of friends that are all in bad marriages. At first she was their support but over time they’ve convinced her she’s in the same boat. We’re not even close to their situation.

Misery loves company and her family is looking to add to their miserable company. Brutal.

That was my addition. I haven’t filed yet but will be the one after Christmas so my kids have one more normal Christmas as a family. I’ve been studying this sub to prepare.

I have plenty of guy friends. Pursue friendships with guys that have similar interests and don’t put high effort into friendships that don’t put in similar effort. It’s ok to strike out with your friendships.

I won’t miss the constantly changing requirements of a successful relationship. I change things about myself or how I interact with her based on her criticisms. 6 months after changing something I didn’t need or want to change she still complains in couples counseling about what I used to do. It’s never enough. We have couples counseling every week. We do not talk at all outside of those appointments so in them I try to bring up the most important topics to me. She talks down to me. Tells me I d…

This. My wife told me I groped her in my sleep and it made her feel weird. I apologized and put a giant body pillow between us from that day forward. Then in couples therapy a week later I brought it up. She said I brushed her thigh 🙄

My wife and I are headed for divorce. She currently overshares with her friends where I choose to keep things more discreet. She tells me I need to vent, and I do, but once you tell friends they start giving advice. Then they take sides. If things work out between my wife and me I don’t want to have those lingering thoughts of how Jim Bob bashed my wife since he thought we were over.

She has since told me things she shared. Definitely shouldn’t have been shared. It isn’t embarrassing. It just isn’t any of their business. I let myself be vulnerable thinking therapy was the place we could say things that stayed in therapy or between us.
