I heard dentistry is one of the highest professions for suicide rates. If that's the case there is probably a reason for it.

The way I see it, people can be very complicated and you can't just say "X good" or "X bad." To be reductionist towards a person's viewpoints, especially after being on this planet five decades, is silly. I'm not even idolizing the guy. I'm just saying he has made a lot of comments through his standup acts that I agree with and, for that, I like the guy. Just because he doesn't follow a philosophy 100% does not mean his opinion is worthless.

Sure, but tariffs are still just different kinds of income taxes. If you had lower tariffs then goods that enter the country are marked up in price compared to what they would have been. This artificially inflates product costs for imported goods and consumers pay more. This is just another way of taking money from American citizens.

Taxes make sense to a degree as we wouldn't be able to field a national military without it. But I do disagree with many ways in which taxes are collected and spent.

That's why I eat the fatty cuts of meat. I'm fairly sure although we need so much protein, the fat is where a lot of the energy, nutrients, and other goodies are.

Same here. I'm on a mostly paleo-carnivore type diet now with the occasionally deviation and I have never felt or looked better. I think many issues with 'red meat' studies are that they are of people that happen to go through the drive through more than the people who are vegetarian/vegan.

If the environment is right for a certain behavior to exist, then it will. Gas is cheap because it's heavily subsidized. Unless you are on the west coast, major cities are fairly far from each other. The vast majority of cities are not high enough population to support public transport options. We could make selective improvements to public transportation, but it wouldn't make sense for the vast majority of the country.

Eh, I think we will always have a complaint about society. I don't think there was every truly a 'golden age' of humanity where people didn't say "I don't want to bring in a child because of X/Y/Z reason..." To be happy, you don't need every person to be monogamous and dislike CardiB-like personalities. Finding a significant other, to me, is about just finding ONE person who matches you. The only problem is that as the laws currently stands, there is a large disincentive to actually partnering u…

For me it's a low effort way of seeing if I can connect with somebody. Once a week scroll through profiles while sitting down between sets at the gym. Once my matches run out I'm done for the week (I live in a relatively low pop area so doesn't take long). If there's a match I test the waters and bail at the first sign of a red flag. I think it only takes as much dignity from you as you let it. Just don't lower your standards, don't simp, etc.

I normally eat more than I feel comfortable eating, too. If I just eat wholesome foods and have a good life routine, my body just doesn't ask for much. Which makes sense as the body doesn't necessarily want to maintain a higher body.

Here is my advice. It works great for me. Stick with your workout. Keep going. If you dont feel your best go anyway (unless you're sick, obviously). I dont care what you do as long as you show up and do something. What's important is forming good habits. Dont drink calories. Dont snack. Avoid processed carbs/sugar. If you do these things you wont really have to count calories. Get 8 hours sleep consistently.

You can't control how others act or feel, just how you respond to it. If somebody is responding negatively to your pursuits, I find the best path is to never be apologetic for your goals, don't give a reaction, and slowly try to surround yourself with people that are more supportive. People may not like what you are doing, but those same people will respect your uncompromising self-actualization. EDIT: Remember that 'doing what you want' isn't always the same as being goal-oriented. If you play …

The difference these days between new and used is less than it's ever been. Trying to but a used sedan is almost the same price! If you intend to run the car into the ground like I do, I dont think the difference is that much over a decade.

There is definitely an argument to be made between quality of life while working and number of years required to work. Personally, my goal is to hit all the tax advantaged maximum contributions and do whatever else I want with the income to make me happier while I work. For me at the earliest I wont be able to retire until minimum 45. Which is a good year I think.

Losing weight has never been hard for me, but there are key rules I follow: Never drink calories (whole milk is an exception because it gives good satiety). Never snack. Either you are eating a meal or you arent eating anything. Limit processed carbs and, to a lesser degree, vegetable oils. These are high calorie and do little for nutrition or satiety. Eliminate sugars. Eat protein/fat heavy goods (jury is out on pork). Good for you and high satiety. Dont grocery shop when you are hungry. Limit …

OP in that thread is 5'11". I don't blame her for wanting a taller guy. I'd argue most guys here wouldn't want to date a woman taller than themselves for one reason or another. The only issue that she faces is that apparently other women also want the 6' guy. She definitely got the short end of the stick on this one.

Yes, but you said wanting a girlfriend is stupid. It's not. It's normal human behavior based on our culture and history. Long term relationships and marriage is very normalized. MGTOW is fairly new to most people online and can hardly even be considered a fringe ideology. Try not to hate on people who are less informed than you may be, because that's the kind of behavior that can turn a support group toxic.

Many people want to have a meaningful relationship and intimacy with somebody else. They may feel like they lack purpose because of what they don't have. I can't fault them for how they feel.

I'm 30 and I've not been called these things. At worst I've been told my expectations are too high but nobody has insulted me. I think the truth is that marriage was once a barrier to entry for a man getting what he wanted which was intimacy with a woman and to start a family. These days intimacy can be revoked and the family can easily become dismantled which removes most of those benefits.

Marriage is beneficial to men in some ways, otherwise they would not agree to it. What is argued here is that marriage is not good enough to be worth it.

Theres nothing wrong with it I guess depending on how far the drive home is? I'm not a germaphobe and certainly not scared of my own sweat so it makes no sense to shower immediately rather than waiting a few minutes.

I'm sure that once you are used to doing something, it's just routine and you get faster at it. Plus, there may be different levels of 'working on your looks' depending on if its a work day, a night out with friends, a wedding, etc. It does seem like a giant waste of time... but on the other hand I do put on product to grow my beard a couple times a day so I can't complain too much.

There is something wrong with acting passive aggressive even if other people are doing it (which the GF in this situation wasn't). He didn't make her follow but she wanted to experience it with him. Totally reasonable for somebody in a relationship.

The GF wanted to see a 2nd volcano on their trip in Indonesia and apparently it only took 30 minutes for her to walk up to the top. This was not some all day event. There are some very unreasonable situations that men are put into and this was far from one of them.

Every person is different but this forum/philosophy is reactionary to current day imbalances that men face. You dont necessarily have to believe it or follow the philosphy but I think, fundamentally, some lessons here should he adopted despite relationship applications. You must have misinterpreted what I said. I did not say that child support should be a windfall. I just said both parents should financially provide for their child. I don't think it is shitty at all that a woman in the story linked by OP had to pay child support rather than NOT pay child support.
/r/MGTOW08/09/20 04:27 AM

Nah. As a parent you should have a financial obligation to your child. You could argue that there needs to be more conditions on child support usage. You could argue that child support payments should be evaluated based on need rather than income. You may argue that courts should give more favorable time with the child to both parties. You may argue that men should be able to opt out of financially providing as a parent if intent is made clear in early pregnancy. Etc etc. But I like to think mos…

How much he has saved is irrelevant. This world isn't just a competition between how many assets or income you can accumulate. His decision should be influenced by the evaluation of his current position, what the alternative is, and the respective trade offs of each decision based on his value system. And honestly, it's just really poor taste to start a dick measuring contest online.

It's the food composition. Lots of sugars, processing, and I believe vegetable oils are also bad. It's the convenience of getting fast food and packaged food over cooking. It's the hobbies/time fillers that have trended towards no physical movement. It's the lessening physical demands of the workplace as jobs are overwhelmingly becoming digital and information based. It's the lack of sleep that spikes our hunger and heightens our preference for sugar. And more I'm sure. A perfect storm.

While many women are good at hiding subversive activity, I think you ask far more of a philosophical question than a practical one. My parents have been married over 30 years, I've never heard them have a fight, they still spend time together every day, and I talk to my mom at length several times a week on the phone. She has been consistent and I've never seen questionable behavior. At some point you just have to accept that how somebody acts everyday is just who they are.

Although we each have a certain nature, we are all subject to change based on our environment. Through positive reinforcement and negative reinforcement, people tend to act certain ways. My experience is that every community has its crazies that must be ignored in order to have intelligent discourse. Guys who claim they want to go to another country if they have a kid are probably more talk than anything and are the crazies. I believe if you bring a kid into this world you have to support them. I agree with the opinion you mentioned about needing a strong male role model. I believe this is absolutely true. I believe the most well developed children came from nuclear family homes…

Equal splitting is fine overall, but exceptions apply. Child support is also fine, I doubt you'd find anybody on this board that doesn't support both parents providing in some way for their children. The concern is how these laws are balanced and administered may be unfair. If a man is paying enough child support to require no investment from the mother, it can encourages having children with high income earners and leaving. Many many argue that child support funds are spent wastefully. Many peo…

Exactly correct, which is one central theme for MGTOW! It doesn't help that the institutions that determine terms for asset splitting, alimony, and child support are seen as biased in favor of women.

Help me enlighten you a bit. You have a healthy relationship, which is great. Many here recognize that they do exist and are what many men strive to have. The reason many here are upset isn't because women, at their core, are awful creatures but because the system and culture is set up to leave the man holding the bag when things go south. Many men here self-identify their appeal to women more as a utility than a sexual object, due to the lack of attention in their younger years. This makes rela…

I disagree. I think we take some actions knowing there is pain because the potential rewards seem worth it. However, risk assessment plays into this, and depending on the chance of failure and the severity of failure I would argue it is no longer wise to pursue that particular path.

Build emergency fund so you can weather bad circumstances. You lose your job. Car breaks down. Insurance doesn't pay for something. Heater went bad. Etc. Most recommendations are 6 months of normal expenses. Invest in the market. The best avenues until you max out all tax-advantaged plans are 401k and roth IRA. You want to invest in retirement date plans or funds that cover the entire market. Typically priority goes 401k to employer match > roth ira > 401k. The maximum amount you can contribute …

Retirement accounts are best until you make enough to where you have extra left over hitting all the caps. 401k, roth ira, hsa, etc. I would personally advise against individual stocks since that's too close to gambling for my liking, but I'd say keep putting more money into index funds.

I'd start with the link you posted. After reading it, the author is making an argument against using gold as a hedge against inflation, not for the use of gold. I don't have any specific articles for you, but my advice greatly depends on your financial knowledge and position. I'm going to assume you are on the younger side (late teens to mid 20s) and don't have any significant wealth saved up like most people. If this is the case, you should learn how to build wealth. This means taking advantage…

It may beat inflation, but it certainly won't perform as well as putting money into the market. The reason you hold money in a bank is for quick liquid savings that you can use on short-term planned or unplanned expenses. Gold is not liquid. If you put money into the market, it will likely outperform gold. However, depending on your priorities, gold can still be useful. Based on what I hear others say, it's useful mostly in order to hide wealth from entities that would otherwise have easy access…

I think the main difference between people is what you identify as 'normal'. Automation saves far more than pennies. It is also a really good thing - it allows us to more cheaply and effectively deliver goods and services to a wider population with lower. It's based on trade. As our technology and population goes up we become, on an individual level, more specialized in how we contribute to the economy and it just so happens most of those jobs require (or at least pay more) for close proximity to others that also have these specialized skillsets. Exceptions exist of course, as you can have pockets of high pay/intellectualism in remote areas but those are normally due to where natural resources are located, where manufacturing plants are for cheap…

That's because, generally, people didnt live in dense places. Did you know in 1900 only 15% of people lived in cities but now it's over 50%. What isnt mentioned is how much we prioritize living in denser areas, with better amenities, and have a drive to buy and experience more. I think there are some constants across all people for sure: For example we are all self serving to some degree. But culture has a large impact. Temptation from 10 different directions can trump the lone voice of reason. You are confusing attraction to a woman with subservience to a woman. One defines a simp, the other does not.

You can certainly seek a woman if you are going your own way. It doesn't mean you are going to focus your life around her. It's just a way to meet new people. It's the digital equivalent to meeting somebody IRL.

You are putting words in my mouth and assuming my position here. I'm not saying I believe what she is saying. I'm not telling anybody that they should find a woman like her and get married. I'm just stating that this woman explicitly holds very traditionalist views and believes that women, to some degree, should be subservient to men. Starts at 10:15 through to the end on this video. Very explicitly states the mans place is to work and the woman's place, as his property to some degree, provides a home to that man. She goes into talking about not nagging, cooking, keeping the house clean, raising children, being physical/emotional support, staying beautiful, etc. The eventual goal here is to create a strong family dynamic and to support child rearing. The alternative to this as she states is to let the government take control …

I hate the fact that people on this board think that anytime a woman says something against their beliefs its AWALT and anytime a woman says something aligned with their beliefs its chameleon. I watched a few of her videos and she is adamant (to women) they should value masculinity, not compete with men in the workplace, and take an active role in parenting your own children. Disagree on this. Saying that it is preferential for a potential lady partner to have certain lifestyle habits does not mean you are putting women on a pedestal, but that you have preferences. As I said before, the profit incentive is there. I'm not denying that at all. If somebody would like to apply some labor on the side and manage opening bank accounts, understanding terms and conditions, transferring money, and later closing bank accounts for a couple hundred dollars they should certainly do that. Yeah, those net worth calculators are fairly accurate. Most people who post about finances online are well off... they are FAR from the norm. Remember, the median HOUSEHOLD brings in 60k/yr. These people are not going to have 6 figures of worth in their early 30s. People with 1mm net worth in 20s-30s continually banked 50-100k per year for over a decade. Yeah, that is simply not normal.

I think the $75K figure is accurate but you have to consider the average cost of living... which is pretty low. The average family has ~60K/yr takehome. I have two belief systems here: I don't want to see society burn, but I do believe society is made great when most people in it work in a self-serving fashion within reason. If some people are self-serving and others aren't, society will skew too much in one direction. Sometimes the only way to fix a system is to expose it's flaws. Sometimes the best way to get a rule fixed is to follow it exactly to the letter. The best way to get a legal loophole fix is to have a critical mass of people take a…

I think part of the issue is that many women subconsciously know that they have plenty of support and there is hope on the horizon and that suicide is a short-term answer. Hard disagree. Exercise transcends individual considerations outside of medical disorders. If you lift weights progressively you gain muscle and lose fat provided your diet is not in excess. I don't believe recording a woman in every interaction does anything at all. Many states require two party consent for records to be admissible in court, and is illegal in every circumstance I know of during sexual relations. Most of your results will be from doing the basics. Sleep 8 hrs, drink water, eat reasonably well (enough protein, and limit sugars), consistently weight train 3+ sessions a week. All of the other strategies are minor compared to what I listed above. I think abortions are a necessary evil. People who don't think they are ready to have children are not ready to have children. End of story. If somebody who doesn't have a child is otherwise forced to have one, they won't just magically become a model parent. It's not a rule. It's a general guideline that is generated from the common denominator of a group of people that loosely shares the same values. Some users may be into self-improvement, others may rant about life circumstances, and others may think about it from an analytical point of few measuring the benefits but overall it's a mixed bag. There are no 'rules' but recommended actions to follow that changes the risk/reward ratio more in your favor given the current environment.
