To be entirely fair, if I remember correctly, this is a holdover from an old Roman law that states that the community determines fatherhood, so this isn't an example of France being left wing or feminist. Unless you want to argue that the Romans were left wing of course

"Assertive" is not the only euphemism for dominant either. A much more common one is "confident." When a woman says she wants a "confident" man, she really just wants a dominant man.

To compare rape between the sexes is nonsensical. Due to the different natures of the sexes, they abuse each other in different ways. Men have a greater capacity for physical strength, so their abuse will be physical in nature, i.e. rape.
