Thank you Sir for such a kind reply. “Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.” The quote is from a post-apocalyptic novel called “Those Who Remain” by the author G. Michael Hopf. One could be tempted to say that things must be this way – it is the circle of life.

Well said and taken on board. I obviously haven’t been here for quite a while, cheers. I’m also a woman. I will take my leave now, no need to show me the door.

Your husband sounds like he suffers from the Kruger effect. I’ve been in the building industry 30 years, i see this daily and make good money from it. He has to stop because it’s cheaper in the long run to hire a professional. Not everything can be learnt on the net that’s why people have to do 4-5 years apprenticeships. Tell him to stick to what he’s good at and let others do what they are good at. Be honest, an if it hurts his ego that’s on him.

If I understand correctly you don’t feel like you are contributing if you’re not needed. The need to be needed comes from codependency and is extremely unhealthy. Have you look into attachment styles because anxious-preoccupied might ring a few bells for you and your man sounds like he’s securely attached. This will be a problem for both of you in the relationship, he will get tried of reassuring you and you never feel good enough for him. All attachment styles are formed in the first couple of …

Amazing weight loss achievement well done. It sounds like you need real friends and outlets to find those friends, I’m not sure where you live but Meet-up has something for everyone. If you can’t find something that interests you start your own meet-up <3

I’m happily married going on 23 years, both of us have grown and changed a lot in that time. He has always been the calming influence in the relationship, the positive one when i was stressing to the max. One thing I personally couldn’t live with being the anxiously preoccupied type is a man who stresses out more than me. You’re right that some men do change when they fall in love with a woman that has a backbone and strong convictions, its evolve or die but id rather he has his priorities strai…

Yes definitely good advice, if he gets his nickers in a knot over the small stuff he will not be able to handle a bloody thing with shit gets real. These kinds of men either fold into absolute worthless or run away when you need them the most and don’t think you can fix them with therapy or whatever. They’re underfunctioning losers and will stay that way.

Closeted homosexual or porn soaked It doesn’t matter. Good for her and a great takeaway is that LVM can come from all demographics. I’m still curious as to why she stuck around for so long though.

I know it’s a bit Brady Bunch but when my family eat we all sit down together with the t.v off. Now our children have left home my husband an I still eat together frequently especially dinners. Its about bonding, conversation an over the years many an important conversation has happened at the dinner table some that may never have come to light if not for the opportunity and space it provides. Great food of course is a bonus.

I’m very sorry that happened to you. Your boundaries are being crossed if someone is making you talk or act against your will, its not cool and he needs to stop. Getting to the root of the issue personally you should see out a therapist to help you process the sexual assault because it will keep coming back up when you are vulnerable and often those are inappropriate times to be discussing your trauma. You can heal <3

This woman needs help she doesn’t deserve to be embarrassed on reddit, I don’t understand how this is helping anyone. You could try to get her some emotional support because she is more likely being abused.

Yes very interesting a lot of societies have in fact been matriarchal the Australian Aboriginal Women still is considered such a society. http://www.witch.plus.com/7day-extracts/aboriginal-women.html In Balinese society, women traditionally are the land owners and play important roles, especially concerning family and economic life. The Minangkabau people are known as one of the few traditional societies that apply matriarchal and matrilineal culture, where property and family names are inherite…

Scrote; noun- Literally short for scrotum. When a person, usually a male, is so useless and insignificant that they do not deserve the tiny effort it takes to spit out a second offensive syllable; less than a scrotum. "just say no to crack" was all I could think of as I watched that snivelling scrote crawl the room on his hands and knees looking for a rock.... by CunningLinguist January 05, 2005

If they interrupt you again, return to step 1. If you find yourself repeating the cycle over 3 times, tell them: ”you’re not letting me speak. Either you listen and wait for your turn, or our conversation ends here.” If they try to make excuses, laugh it off or keep interrupting, end the conversation. Prove them that if they wont let you speak, they’re not worth your time. Fantastic point. As a woman who’s worked in a non traditional trade for over 30 years you need to know your boundaries. beca…

AT LEAST ONE IN THREE VICTIMS IS MALE Contrary to common beliefs, up to One in Three victims of sexual assault and at least One in Three victims of family violence and abuse is male1 (perhaps as many as one in two - see our overview of research page). The vast majority (94%) of perpetrators of intimate partner violence against males are female, reflecting the fact that the vast majority of intimate relationships are heterosexual (men in same-sex relationships are just as likely as straight men t…

Please don’t make his cumming about you it’ll just put pressure on both of you. Good sex is about body autonomy and letting the body respond naturally. If you’re both having a good time and he keeps coming back for more then I wouldn’t worry that he’s not attracted to you. I’ve been married a long time our sex life has seen it’s fair share of ups and downs we’ve both had trouble orgasming at different stages. The best way to deal with this is compassion and honesty. If he’s having trouble you ca…

On average, one in eight men will experience depression and one in five men will experience anxiety at some stage of their lives. Blokes make up an average six out of every eight suicides every single day in Australia. The number of men who die by suicide in Australia every year is nearly double the national road toll. Men are suffering and there’s no easy answers unfortunately, thank you for highlighting this very important important issue. Shame, blame, not wanting to show weekness. Trauma, ne…
