This is fucking awesome. Thank you for sharing. I would also point out that there's clearly a timelessness to this dynamic. Malcom X would have been in his teens and early twenties (ie when he was observing this) in the 1940s and into 1950s which is a time when many seem to think men ruled the world and yet, clearly, even in NYC (where the "Masters of the Universe" reside) pampered women still treated their husbands (which is to say their caregivers, protectors, and providers) with such demeanin…

TLDR: The study suggests that more feminine girls (who from an evolutionary perspective are "less socially dominant") seem to be most greatly prefered in forgiving/stable environments (whereas in difficult environments, like Nepal, more masculine women are preferred because of their evolutionary stability). Likewise, the harsher the environment the more attractive the "macho" and "masculine" men become to female inhabitants.

It depends. If you're wealthy, and/or a high-earner, you may be significantly better off going the surrogate route vs alimony to maintain your ex's established lifestyle.

So, interestingly enough, something similar happened to my younger brother. He wasn't killed thankfully, but the female driver that hit him threatened to sue for damages to her car. I shit you not.

I work for a company that affords its employees remote employment opportunities and have leveraged them myself for a material portion of my career. It can be wonderful if you have the discipline to stay focused but you also have to be realistic about the effects of reduced face time with key executives and the consequences that will have on your career. Net/Net, I think it's going to become more prevalent because there are real savings to both the employer and the employed. But I also think it w…

I agree, but it does give us a moment to reflect on what has worked and hasn't worked and subsequently mentor those who are younger than us.

I would have worked harder. I've done well for myself, don't get me wrong, but if I could spend half an hour mentoring my 7th grade self I would have told him to swing for the fences instead of being content with just getting on base.

Interestingly, to spice this up a little, this means that: If, as the article (and it's references) states, 236 of every 1,000 (23.6%) American women are mentally ill vs only 168 of every 1,000 (16.8%) American men, then American women are mathematically 40.5% (=(23.6-16.8)/16.8) more likely than American men to be mentally ill.

I actually think about TheRedPill as being a core component of age-old wisdom (ie that it's not that it's been around for a "long time" but rather that it pre-dates time). The only reason why it seems novel to us is because so much of society is trying to make it a thing of the past.

It depends upon the opportunity cost of the cash on hand vs the rate of the loan. For example, if I need to buy a car and I have the cash to do it but I also am afforded the option of financing it for 2.5% and simultaneously have another investment opportunity that I can reasonably expect a 5% return on, then I should be arbitraging the difference between the rates by financing the car and investing in the 5% investment op. I work in Strategic Finance and genuinely fucking love this stuff.

But none of these guys then got married, which was the whole basis of mistonag's counterpoint of suggesting a better world was one in which men working their way up to "provider"/"husband" material (his words) as opposed to the majority of historical examples of men of greatness who were engaging sexual activity regardless of marital status (my point).

But just because women become more promiscuous doesn't mean they're becoming promiscuous with everyone. More resources in a fixed pocket draws even more competition to be a part of that space. Think about oil. When we find out that there's oil in a parcel of land in North Dakota people are willing to pay more (ie compete) for land in the surrounding parcels they don't just assume there's now more oil everywhere.

Well, two equally rational human beings can disagree about things (although, in fairness, that doesn't make both opinions right). I think your opinion is exactly what society wants young men to think. Show me men of greatness who (if straight) didn't like pussy. Men who, weren't at least driven to greatness in part by the quest for pussy. Men who, once there, didn't dabble in the "fruits" of their success. I imagine a couple things... 1) STD/STI rates will increase in the short-term but then pharmaceutical companies (once realizing the increase in market) will step in with more R&D and develop medical solutions to many of these, which will ironically reduce their prevalence in the long-run. 2) Society-wide 80/20. Right now the top 20% of males enjoy 80% of the promiscuous girls, however in a society without infidelity this pool of girls gets much larger. 3) As a result there will be more competiti…

"Solipsism" according to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary is "a theory in philosophy that your own existence is the only thing that is real or that can be known". You mean to tell me that a girl who is completely unaware of the potential ramifications of literally taking photos of herself in the outfit (including the weapon) in which (with which) she's about to commit a crime onto other people (whose well-being she clearly doesn't think are of any relevance) doesn't strike you in any fashion as bein…

But see, boys attempting to gouge one another's eyes out with scissors are only likely to hurt each other (ie other boys); completely acceptable. I'm not entirely sure why this is being downvoted. I think it's pretty valuable to know that you need not even be married to have your assets taken away and thus should proceed with cohabitation, etc with caution.

But, what if he says he'll never be ready? It's time to move on. I genuinely do not understand women. They're so happy with the relationship they want to spend the rest of their lives with you....so they give you an ultimatum wherein if you don't spend thousands of dollars on a rock and sign a legal agreement with the state...they will then abandon said happy/stable relationship.

I don't think it's a troll, this pretty much epitomizes the sex life of the men I know who are married and over 40 (and that's among men whose wives will still have sex with them). Once you're married you lose all power. What are you going to do? If you grovel you're weak as shit (you hate yourself, she hates you more), if you act up she calls the cops and says she feels "unsafe". Either way, she eventually divorces you and you lose everything, including your future.

I agree with your thought of the day but would just caution you that acting out your story will eventually put you in prison. If she says no sex you should just get up and leave. That way she'll know that if you're going to hang out again in the future she has to be comfortable with having sex.

Really enjoyed this post, I'm going to take this way off into left field but I think this is tangential and fascinating to think about... While this is an old article and the motion failed miserably it is undoubtedly only a matter of time before it rears its head again and succeeds. Think of the direction the world is headed. What makes this entire story so fucking asinine is that if it were the act of men chasing younger females (undoubtedly because they were demonstrably more fertile) that eventually made older women less fertile (because they weren't sought out), then how do they explain why men would have been chasing the younger in the first place (if not for differences in fertility)? While I agree with the findings, I'm not sure this is will necessarily make a society "fail". If anything it will cause the few males who are best endowed (looks, smarts, capital, etc) to do exceedingly well while effectively driving large masses of males to simply drop out (which is exactly what we're seeing in practice). I'm not sure that this will make a society "fail" per se, but it will definitely rearrange the power structure (as again we are seeing in practice).

While I wholeheartedly agree that getting this woman stopped on the grounds of healthcare privacy is a route that should be pursued, I am saddened that this is the OP's greatest means of fighting back. I feel like the whole of the legal infrastructure gives so much advantage to women and those of us who pay the price of marrying the wrong girl (which apparently happens a LOT of men given current divorce rates) are left with scraps of hope like these as a means of retribution.

The irony here is that the character George Clooney is playing only speaks towards gender-neutral arguments. Meaning, even if we were to forget the tomes of reasons why it's a particularly statistically/fiscally/legally poor decision for a male, and are only to look at marriage from a completely gender oblivious perspective: it still doesn't make sense.

It's fascinating to see how the research came back showing someone who merely appeared rich was 2x as lucky as the middle-class bloke and literally 4x(!) as lucky as the poor fellow. (That's huge.) I guess this explains a lot of "conspicuous consumption" and the "aspirationalist" purchasing behavior in the luxury industry.

I don't know why we can't just can't give positions to whoever is the most qualified (regardless of race, gender, etc). Why should it matter if the best person for the job is male, female, black, white, purple, etc?
