Your conclusion seems arbitrary to me. Time spent working is not wasted. 8 hours is not the minimum you need to operate normally, the minimum is 6, the recommended amount of sleep time is 7.5. Commuting doesn't necessarily need that much time but I guess yours is a good average. The stuff I learned in school turned out to be incredibly useful, for work, for socializing, for solving everyday problems and to be able to fucking think for myself, to the point I wish I actually studied in those years…
