How do? I’m always kind. I don’t hurt women or enjoy seeing them hurt. I genuinely want women I know to find good things in life, with or without my involvement.

Why do you assume the divorce was caused by me?

What about my post is so terrible?

I mean, I am open to a committed relationship. It just has to be exactly the right thing, and I recognize that bar may be unrealistically high. I actually really tried hard with one about a year after I was divorced. But, I realized the problem really might just be me. The thing is I - don’t - like sleeping around. I’d rather be in a relationship with one woman, but keep it light and fun instead of serious.

I think that many times people like to project bad things onto those with whom they disagree. It ain’t me projecting here. I absolutely love being alone. That’s why the bar is so high to not be. I thought a bit about this post and the comments here. I almost made a follow up called: “What Would Women Here Offer in a Relationship that I Would Want?” But, I got to working on the myriad other things I do to entertain myself and haven’t had time to make this post.

She didn’t get with the athlete because he was a jerk; she got with him because he was high status. Unfortunately, your friend was not sufficiently high status to compete. She probably would prefer the athlete to - not - be an asshole, but she’s ok with it because he’s high status. Meanwhile your friend could do everything right and it wouldn’t matter one bit, because he’s not sufficiently high status for her to view him as a potential mate. This is where red pill theory is exactly on point. And…

Nope. I’m not a cheater. No infidelity. Try harder. Also, you had a spelling error. I know they don’t teach ‘em like they did back in my day. But you said: “I find you to be a distasteful person . . .” I think you misspelled, “charming.”

Like I said. I’m not here for your entertainment. I’m here for my own, and you just can’t help but to participate. You’ll notice that if someone responds to me reasonably, I return the favor. If they respond with dipshittery - like you - the only thing to be done is to have a bit of fun. And I am doing exactly that.

When I was 13, I went to visit my grandfather on his farm. When my mom dropped me off in town, a young woman - extremely attractive, early 30s - came to pick me up. She lived with my grandfather as his “personal assistant” for many years. My grandad had many faults and I have endeavored to be a better man than him, but if his 5’6” crotchety ass can keep hustling into his 60s — then so can I. My dad did. My uncle did. They all did. I really wanted to be the first in my family for four generations…

Then perhaps the right thing is for a woman to choose exactly one man and do all she can to stay with him.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/03/26 06:41 PM

It’s always been like this, that’s just how women are built. Trying to change them is like trying to train a cat to be vegan. It’s a fruitless endeavor. They are the way they are for good reason; sexual selection has produced effective results. The reason things are so over the top now is because of technology. Now, all men are always competing on a global level. You’re not just competing against the local high school quarterback. You’re competing against all the quarterbacks, CEOs, influencers,…

This is a fair comment. And I’m not a Pollyanna when it comes to looking in the rear view mirror. This shit went on in the 1950s - they dealt with it using alcohol and copious levels of Valium along with the occasional lobotomy. In the 1850s, they just got lit on laudanum until they died at 50. I don’t think things are objectively “worse” in every way compared to previous eras, but I do think certain aspects of life have absolutely degraded over the last 30 or 40 years. Our mean lifespan is drop…

A person can be abused in any type of relationship. It is unfortunate, but no “type” of relationship is immune to abuse.

Oh, I find it largely useless to argue with women. Some are rational, but most are heavily biased toward social consensus as opposed to rational analysis. It’s just how they’re built. Like, you should see the thread with one of my fan girls where she’s making the typical argument: “How can you understand a woman if you’re not a woman, sweaty.” I say, “How can a researcher understand ant behavior if he’s not an ant?” “Rawwwwwr, are you saying women are ants!!!!!!” It’s really funny when they’re i…

Yeah, that’s exactly right. Women are doing better because in many cases the system sets them up well post-divorce on the backs of their husbands! This isn’t always true and in fact it isn’t what happened to me. But, it damn sure does happen.

Here, here! This thread is cliche as hell. I post here with just some observations outlined in a pretty even handed way. A lot of people are fairly chill and reasonable. But a group of women (not all of them but the most vocal) in the age range discussed absolutely lose their shit on me and - immediately - start shaming me for not committing to one of their amazing sisterhood women who has so much to offer. Like, neutral third parties reading this will get red pilled just by going through the co…

I know of many such cases, but in my own divorce I must give credit to both my ex wife and the courts. I would describe us as well off, but not truly “wealthy.” We owned several properties and had some other assets. We were able to sit down rationally and just do the math, no lawyers necessary. Yes, she got the nice house and I had to buy something more modest. But I kept the rental properties. I kept my name on the house so she didn’t have to refinance under worse terms. But she let me pay out …

So, people who study ants can’t understand ant behavior because they’re not ants? Follow your dipshit train of thought to its logical conclusion. Understand now that I’m not arguing with you for your sake - that is a fruitless endeavor - but for my own entertainment and for the edification of any lost souls who might wander down this rabbit hole.

Was Isaac Newton an apple? Then how could he figure out why it falls from a tree? An intelligent person doesn’t need to be a particular thing in order to analyze a system and understand it.

If you read some of my other comments, you’ll see that I agree with you regarding family. And I still consider my ex wife family, and treat her as such - to my detriment at times. And I damn sure put my kids before myself. That’s how it is, and I don’t regret any of it. But there is now an extremely high bar for another woman to enter the ranks of “family” because I value my freedom very, very much — having just regained it after many years of marriage. At some point I’ll age out of being able t…

I think history teaches us what things work and what things don’t work. Traditionalism works alongside healthy social norms and structures. The data doesn’t lie. Changes in social norms have absolutely coincided with a rapid drop in marriage stability. I don’t think we can exactly go back. Technology is too radically different now. But, what we’re doing now certainly isn’t working for huge swathes of the population.

She asked. I responded. All things are transactional at the end of the day, except for family. And at the beginning of a romantic relationship, you aren’t family yet. I am happy that you have a good marriage, truly. But, one nice thing about being single is that I don’t have to give a fuck when a woman tries to put boundaries on me. So, if someone asks for my opinion I’ll give it if I so choose. You might hold sway with your husband, but as a boss of mine used to tell me: “if they ain’t paying y…

I said I didn’t want to commit. There are other types of relationships outside of purely committed ones. And I don’t even mean like non-monogamy. I mean like, “hey - let’s date (even exclusively) but let it run its course and that’s ok too.”
/r/PurplePillDebate03/03/26 05:17 AM

I’m actually fostering one now. She’s more recently divorced than me and is just now in her own place - very much happy to have her own space. I’m hopeful. But in my experience, I find having a sexual relationship that is also a true friendship - but not more than that - is hard. Women can do one night stands and they can do boyfriend/girlfriend - but friends with benefits is hard to maintain. Time will tell.

Why is being honest with myself “broken?” Perhaps my choice of the word “broken” was loaded. But there is a difference between my situation and what I see in theirs. In my case, I know and accept my wants in balance with my limitations. In their case, there is a deep imbalance between their wants and limitations - perhaps even a complete non understanding of both.

You may be partly correct about divorced women, particularly those with kids. Despite what red pillers say - my ex had zero problem finding dates with very attractive guys as a 40 something with kids. That said, she looks far younger than she is - so is something of a rare case. But when you think of it: all her needs are met. I largely set her up financially and she can cover the rest with not overly stressful work. She finds fulfillment in our children. She has a full live with many sources of…

Younger men accept it. Women largely don’t because women generally operate by social consensus and not objective analysis. There’s no real point in arguing with women for the most part. Older men don’t accept it because (a) just world fallacy and (b) it would deflate their own life narrative.

I am interested in relationships, just not necessarily under the terms you or others might want. Did I have a sexual relationship with the girl in question here? Yes. Did I want to be on a path to marriage? No, and I was honest about it - always have been. Was I there when she needed me? Yes. Does this not count as a “relationship,” just because it isn’t a monogamous one with marriage intent?

My ex wife and I are still friends. I will always love her and I believe I have provided for her enough that while she needs to work a bit - she’s quite stable. I am also always there to help if she needs because she is the mother of our children. This fact was actually the genesis of one break up I had with a girlfriend, that I remained too close to my ex wife. But family is loyalty, and she still counts as family. We had a very passionate and fast moving relationship that was also filled with …

As a guy who dated very successfully in the early 2000s, got married, got divorced, and am again dating (still with some success) — you are absolutely correct. Dating apps and social media have radically changed the game. In the early 2000s, I could sleep with a different woman pretty much any weekend I chose to. Now, it is absolutely more difficult. While I can still get dates on apps, the women I meet there are (largely - not always) well below my level of overall attractiveness. Moreover, wom…

Dude! The chick you are replying to is batshit. Don’t waste your time. She just shat all over a thread I made, then I come to this one and here she is - shitting up another thread. I can assure that I am not making fun of the women I refer to here. Quite the opposite: I greatly care about them and want the best for them. I do think that various changes to the structure of society - changes largely championed by women - have caused this. But I don’t blame these specific women for these changes. In fact, I think the course of civilization has turned like a massive ship - slowly and at first imperceptibly. I don’t know that there is any specific person or group to “blame” at …

I’m glad for it. Interestingly enough, perhaps the most generally put together and free person I know is my 97 year old grandmother. She is widowed, so quite the same scenario as the women I’ve presented. But I have extreme respect for my grandmother, as does everyone in her community. She really is someone to be admired and modeled.

I outlined it a bit in another comment. I’m not here to air someone else’s laundry, even anonymously. Short story is that there were a couple triggering events - but the gist of her grief was much more wide ranging and all over the place.

I don’t want to speak on the particulars of someone else’s grief - but there had been a couple of what I would call “standard down sides of living” — but strung together somewhat rapid fire.

You immediately resorted to ad hominem attacks on me, calling me “damaged goods” - a phrase I never used. You are generally aggressive and have made multiple posts all over this thread, indicating a degree of neuroticism. Others have also commented on it. Perhaps you are simply having a good time engaging with this topic. But the tone and pattern of your commentary indicates likely behaviors that would be extremely off putting if carried over to in person interaction.

Whatever it is that makes mid to late 30s women become overwhelmed with negative emotions. I don’t know myself what it is to be in the mind of a late 30s woman. I can only observe from the outside.

They are extremely lonely and full of regret. I’m not projecting. I have good relationships with many women in and around my own age. Every one of them who are single and without kids have expressed this to me personally. Every. Single. One. I know of one woman in her 70s who is childless and very content. Her second marriage worked out very well and she’s been with her husband for over three decades. She is the only exception that I know of in my personal life, and she was remarried in her earl…

Divorce was quite hard. In general I’m anti-divorce, but I must admit that at least for my ex-wife and me — we are much better friends now than we were the last several years of the marriage. Once on the other side, it was all good.

I’m mostly looking for comments from unmarried and childless women who are on the other side of it. Maybe lat 40s and up, no meds, at peace with themselves, maybe in a relationship and maybe not. Just women who are generally comfortable again with themselves and their circumstances.

I’m pretty damn happy with my life, and I know exactly why I am reluctant to commit. It is simple: I don’t want to be responsible for someone else’s emotional state. Any relationship requires this, even good ones. And it takes an immense amount of energy. I have children I love, am financially in a good spot, am active in my community, have a solid dude friend group, and a set of deep interests I enjoy. What I know I do - not - enjoy is perpetually being on the hook for someone else’s emotional …
