society standards and expectations on men so high you don't think twice about calling a young man who has difficult killing himself a coward. XD the jokes write themselves In another life, I bet you'd have been very happy to handle guys on the street certain white feathers, am I right?

News for you: it's not a documentary, it's not a real story. Meanwhile the way people interpret the film and the way it reinforced their prejudices against shy, awkward and autistic men is very very real

That's very relevant lol. Women love to say men don't treat ugly women like human beings, while women just don't feel attracted to ugly and shy men. Meanwhile they watch a good horror film and use it to justify the fact that they should be careful around any man and awkward men in particular because they are potentially dangerous. Your contradictions and double standard are so pathetic and honestly scary. Imagine seeing a socially inept man and thinking "mmm he gives me rapey vibes, it's his res…

If you can point me a piece of media where an otherwise decent, but physically unattractive and fat, woman is later revelead to be an horrible person I'll give you a cookie

the movie reinforces women bias against men who happen to be not assertive. If any man can potentially be a rapist, why should I settle for the kind man who is a little shy? might as well go for the other one. That's what most women get from the film, a confirmation of their bias and how gender roles applied to men are actually good.

I never said i think that's what Curry Barker meant to tell the audience. I think it's simply done to initially create empathy in the viewer, especially the male one, towards Bear only to have something that BREAKS you in the way the protagonist acts and makes you question how you viewed the charcater in the first place. It's a pretty common and effect trope in good storytelling and horror stories. The point is that it's what female viewers got out of it.

Nikki also says that if she liked someone, nobody would know. That's exactly what I am talking about in the oroginal post, she gives enough signals here and there that she might be interested or she might like him back if he behaves a certain way(which is put himself forward and make a move, be confident) but she herself stays in a limbo. And she is celebrated for it. She is exactly as weak as he is,

Not once in my post I talked about how women should feel towards insecure guys, I only talk about how the internet discourse tends to associate those unattractive traits to what Bear does later in the movie. Since you compare self-confidence and competence in guys to hotness in girls, how would you feel if a movie portrayed an otherwise attractive girl who happens to be physically ugly, and later portrayed her as a rapist?! especially if men online used it to prove that's not worthy to settle fo…

i think it is clear she likes him, that's the whole point of the car scene, to show how insecure he is, how he didn't shoot his shot when a woman gave him the chance to make his move. Insecure and shy are interchangeable according to most women and most people jn real life, and as I said the entlitement part only comes out later in the movie, it's not how the character is depicted at the biginning at all, it only emerges when Bear becomes a villain.

I have watched and took care of 3 of my grandpatents who died all of long diseases (both mental and physical) in their 80s. When they died none of my family did as much as ask me how I was feeling. They did with my sister, mother etc though Tell me again why men are less likely to express their feelings and seek help?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
