Oh absolutely. I live in Canada and the studies that our government agencies create policy from are incredibly biased as well. But even if that wasn't the case, even if women were raped more often, the fact that they just have to bring up that women suffer more while speaking about male victims is so disrespectful. No wonder men are so reluctant to get help, when everyone and everything is telling them that it could be worse.

Why do they always feel it is necessary, when talking about male victims of rape, to interject with things like "While most experts agree women are raped far more often than men...". Like, "men get raped too, but let's not forget who the real victims are". Edit: I didn't mean to imply that I feel that women are the "real victims". I am also aware of the statistical bias that exists. Not sure why so many downvotes.

What does he mean when he says "I'm not fussed what you're specifically lying about, really"? I don't know if I'm just tired, but that sentence is making no sense to me at all.

I second this, if you're ever in Winnipeg. Edit: as Dalsgaard stated, this applies to any MRA. (I would love to talk about this stuff in real life!)

Yeah I missed that one until I read it out loud to my partner when he got home from work. Why would you write that? This author is seriously unstable.

The hypocrisy of this article is astounding. The entire piece, while criticizing Perry for stating that she is not a feminist, does nothing but tear her down, insults the way she looks and dresses (I'm not sure if the comment about Spanx was the author calling her fat?), and says that she must hate herself. I am absolutely not fan of her as a musician or a role model but my god, people.

Definitely. There was only one woman present who did not have the body of a supermodel, and even she was still gaunt.

If she says "cultural, institutional or relational" one more time, my head will explode.

They went beyond that. They blamed all boys.

That's also what I said in my critique of the article. But it's easier to say "it's slut shaming" or "it's boys not respecting women" when you pretend it was only boys who bullied her, or any other girl for that matter.

That's exactly what I said to my "friend" on Facebook. I'll update with her reply if anyone is interested.

I love how the one guy said that boys are stupid, then in the same breath starts talking about how misogynistic the field of psychology is. Seriously.

Funded for boys from next year? Like they'll have to travel back in time to receive it? Seriously though, it's about time. Wish it was the same in Canada.

Just posted this to facebook last night and got this response: Sexism is bad for both men and woman and (my) feminism recognizes this. Thank god men invented the toaster and empowered the women of this century. I don't know how she can think that women had power in their lives and relationships when it wasn't even a crime (or socially frowned upon) for a man to rape his wife until 1983 in Canada. And to say that women simply asked for suffrage and got it with no struggle is absurd. Oh yeah and t…
