I had the same exact experience as you! Nothing but jobless and homeless men!

This is what I found! So many on unemployment!! Thus all the time in the world to date multiple women. 🙄

I have never found a genuinely well-off man online! Where are you seeing these people? I never even find any educated people. Mostly I find unemployed, between jobs, or minimum-wage types. This is why I gave up doing online 2 years ago.

My mother and a close friend of mine are two of these people! My Mother actually begged for one of those Kirby things that cal also shampoo carpets. You’d think she’d died and gone to heaven.

Yes, exactly this! I think of my parents. My parents have been married 55 years. She prides herself on a sparkling clean house. I can think of at least 2 occasions where he bought her a fancy new “latest and greatest” vacuum cleaner as a gift. She was ecstatic. She vacuumed nearly every day. Not for him, but for her. Some women pride themselves on this and would do it regardless of their relationship status. These practical gifts made what she insisted on doing easier, and faster. Then she had m…

I’m obviously the outlier here, but I appreciate what I call practical gifts. I’m going to totally get roasted, but my boyfriend installed a water softener and water treatment system for my house for V day and I’m absolutely thrilled. We don’t live together, he has his own house, so it is clearly just for me. And I love it.

Can I just say, it’s 2022 and PhD are a dime a dozen. I have one. My ex has one. It is no guarantee for any amount of success. However, WHAT you get a PhD in totally matters. Not only that, in some disciplines, like the one I am in, PhD students are paid a stipend that covers housing and food if you are able to budget properly. If he isn’t being offered housing or isn’t receiving a stipend, I would caution you - do NOT move in with him. He will be acquiring debt that will take him decades to pay…

My reply to her was this: “he has 3 children already, I have a better education than him and have my own business, so why on earth would I stalk HIM?” But she obviously felt he is a catch. I mean, if I was stalking him why would I have had 3 pictures of his d*ck that he sent to me?

I wish I had an answer. I had a similar experience. A few years ago I went on a couple of dates with someone. He kept trying to get into my pants but I told him that I don’t just jump into bed with someone. He was divorced and had 3 kids already so I wasn’t that interested. But we did have a couple of things in common so I was up for the occasional company on outings if he could behave. I noticed that he mostly only messaged me during the day and rarely at night, so alarms went off. When I got f…

This reminds me of the time this guy kept trying to sleep with me after 2 dates. I refused. He kept trying. He sent me d*ck picks so then I blocked his number and his Facebook. Two days later I was going through my FB messenger and I saw his profile changed showing him with a woman. I could see it in my messenger even though I blocked him. I asked a friend to look up the woman. I then contacted her and showed her his messages. She said she had been with him every single day for 3 months straight…

I wish young women got taken aside and taught these very important lessons - how to have self-respect, how to weed out worthless men, how to focus on yourself rather than “how to catch a man.” Heck, I went to an Ivy League in the late 90s and at least half the women there were just there to get a husband…NOT get an education so that they know how to take care of themselves.

If they can’t make plans with you in advance, it means they are either horrible at time management or planning and you will end up having to be his Mother if you end up in a relationship - planning his doctor’s appointments, his family’s birthdays, etc. OR You are the backup girl. The one to fill his time because it just became available. Either way, you deserve better!!

Thank you for sharing this story. I think I am experiencing something similar at work with a man. I was recently promoted and am a favorite of the VP. The man in question occasionally flirts and then goes cold. I think he is trying something fishy too, and I don’t like it.

Triangulation - I just had a man last week try this. The man in question is supposed to be giving me a quote on a house build. Instead he keeps calling to chat and invite me to stuff. I just want him to give me my damned quote. I’d be a lot more impressed if he stopped telling me how busy he is and actually do his work. Anyway, last night he made his last ditch effort and told me how there are TWO women who want relationships with him but he just needs to take things slow, and would I like to do…

My favorite is when a man tries to hit on me and tries to pretend he is a hiker but when you ask him a few questions you realize he is not an actual hiker. Like when you ask him how many 4000 footers he has done or which fire towers, and they say “oh I don’t keep track and count, I just go and hike.” Yeah, ok buddy…whatever. 🙄

My intention was not to shift blame. I guess my point was, I have accepted that there are men like this, and there are a lot of them. Horrible men. Men who do not care about driving over helpless animals or putting others in danger. I guess I’m just shocked that a woman would stick around with a man like that. In my mind, a man who does that with someone with him is likely to do things like that a lot. Hopefully I am assuming incorrectly and this is the first time this woman has witnessed this m…

The last one I accepted a hike with told me how he was in the best shape of his life and was walking 6 miles a day and had been hiking. He said he was close to doing 4,000 footers. I suggested an easier, lower elevation hike just to see how he would do. He had all the right gear, but he looked like he was going to have a heart attack 1/3 of the way up - he was sweating through his shirt and his face was red. We had’t even gone a mile and it wasn’t hot, it was early spring. That is the LAST time …

Oh yes, as an avid hiker myself I find it hilarious when men tell me that they hike. When I ask them what trails, they mention little 1 mile flat paths. That is NOT a hike!! My hikes are 15-20 miles in the wilderness.

I love to hike. I’m a legit mountain hiker. Hiking is my main hobby. Yes, I will meet up with people to hike, sometimes men. I do NOT consider that a date. It is a hike, an activity, but it is not a date. I have had men consider it a date, but that is on them. I look for people to hike with, for the company and safety but I still hike solo (with my large dog) 75% of the time. Yes, exactly! My brother is very affluent. My parents, and myself, are not. My brother enjoys exceedingly expensive restaurants. My brother then pays or just takes us out when he wants a family outing at one of his high-end places. This guy is an asshole, as are his parents. In my experience, when I went on vacation with my ex's parents, his parents paid for everything but the flights there.

Exactly! Don't bother with a single dad unless you are good with being nothing more than an afterthought and a therapist. In addition, he wouldn't be a single dad unless he had already proven to be a horrible husband/partner. The 3 single dads that I spoke to or went on dates with were all eerily similar - they talked about their kids nonstop, they whined about not seeing their kids every day, and they complained about their exes (she cheated, she stole all his money, she's lazy, etc). I don't have extensive experience with single dads, but I do have some. I tried dating for a bit a few years ago, and at my age (40s), just about everyone has kids - some are even grown. I never got to the stage of providing childcare, as I wasn't around long enough. What I did find, is that single dads use their kids as an excuse to put forth ZERO effort into a relationship. I am in the medical field, and yes they are arrogant. However, they do not typically act like they do not know how STIs are spread and take precautions. That doesn't mean that they don't sleep around, but they aren't having unprotected sex with multiple women at once. This dentist shows that he has sociopathic tendencies. He got one woman pregnant and gave another a STI within a 3 month period. That means he was having unprotected sex with more than one woman at a time.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy01/06/21 02:33 AM
51

Yes, I get that many, if not most, men are like that. However, most barely took a biology class. I'm surprised that a medical professional is behaving this way. I mean, does he not autoclave his utensils either? Every man that I encountered in graduate school (except one) was just as careful about STIs as I was. On average, the severe teflon penis attitude is associated with less education, at least little science education.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/05/21 11:46 PM

I had thought for the longest time that men who have multiple partners and who refuse to wear protection, thereby potentially spreading STDs did it out of ignorance. Here we have a man with medical training, a dentist, acting like he has a teflon penis that is incapable of getting STDs!!! The sheer misogynistic depravity is mindblowing!! I'm so glad this woman stuck up for herself and the court agreed that he was in the wrong.

I waited a bit and did more investigating and found he talked to some of the women too. Looking at what or who a guy is liking on social media is now one of the first things I vet for. I have to agree with this. I am not gorgeous by any means, but above average. Then add to that my PhD. I dress professionally with my Brooks Brothers shirts. I am fit and very active. I have a few refined pieces of jewelry from zoe chicco and Tiffany's. Barely any men approach me at work. I know I am older, but I see the men flock to the very unattractive and obese 28 yr old who wears fake nails and has purple hair. I've been told that she has slept with half the men. I may be a new official user of FDS, and perhaps I do need time to "mourn my old beliefs," but my experience has been different than yours. I do allow that many in FDS have had different experiences and therefore different perspectives, but does being different make them wrong? In the end, I think we all have the same goal, and that is to grow as a woman, grow in perspective and confidence and self-esteem, learn our worth, and be happy being single..unless we chance upon the rare unicorn: the HV…

Let me correct myself. Yes, HVM are rare. If they weren't, we wouldn't need FDS!! Lol That being said, I will change my stance to suggest that they are rare in general. In certain settings, they may be more concentrated than average, (ie higher education), but single HVM are nonexistent in your 40s!!
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/05/21 05:47 PM
2

So, because I did not date or sleep around with hundreds of guys, but did date 4 HVM that I missed out on, I would say that is pretty impressive in a 5 year period! So, I'll have to disagree with you. That was over 50% of the number of men that I dated in that period. I think the percentage of HVM is higher in certain settings, such as graduate school. There are not a ton of people, but the quality is better. I stand by my statement that it is harder to find HVM over 30 than it is in your 20s, b…
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/05/21 05:43 PM
13

Yes, I totally agree. By your mid 30s, all HVM are are taken and married and are going to stay married. I have seen the HVM that I met in college get married to their college girlfriends or women they met in their 20s and they are still married. I am in my 40s now. All single men in their 40s are single for a reason, and it's because they had failed marriages because of their LVM personality.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy12/05/21 12:59 PM
11

I think that it depends on the situation and the woman. I don't think you can just state that HVM are rare. For example, when I was in my 20s, I was at an Ivy League College and following that I was in grad school. I met quite a few HVM at the time, but I was career-driven and kept moving around and was not ready to settle down. I have stayed in touch with a few of the men, and they all married shortly (within 5 yrs) of being with me, and 15 years later are still married. They have good careers,…

Oh wow, that is incredibly fascinating. I never made the connection in the past, but I think it is real. When I was in my early 20s, I went on 3 dates with an older professor, he was good looking, but in his mid 40s. He constantly talked down to me, and treated me like I knew nothing of the world. I was a grad student at the time, and though I knew I had a lot to learn, I knew I wasn't stupid and did not need to be treated like I was 12. I can see now that that man, who had divorced his age-appr…

I don't know what college or University that is, but that is entirely atypical. Science has even published articles pointing out how there are more female students but that faculty and government research institutions are still controlled by men.

But what was the faculty made up of in that Department? Although the majority of students may be female, males still maintain control of academia and the higher positions.

When I was going through graduate school 15 years ago, there were 16 grad students in my program, and only 4 were men. Out of those 16, only 2 got academic faculty positions. Can you guess what gender they were? Well, sadly they were men. The rest of us went into industry or got stuck in post doc positions. I got so close to getting a faculty position and was told the job was mine, but it went to a man from South Africa. In my old Department of 22 faculty, there are only 3 women. Men will mainta…

YES!!! I'm one of those women with a PhD. Everyone keeps asking me why I don't date. All I can say is, I'm not interested in these uneducated losers who can barely work 40 hrs a week and text me "how u doin beautiful?" I have standards, and I'm criticized for them.

I hope this doesn't make me a horrible person, but I have thought for a very long time that one of the toughest obstacles for truly feminist women are other women. The patriarchy exists because so many other women let it.

This reminds me of my SIL who stopped working the second she got pregnant. My brother is very well off, so they have a cleaning service plus a nanny and most meals are catered. She spends most of her time going to art studios with her other elite friends. One day she went on a rant with me about how much of a feminist SHE is. Meanwhile, I had just finished up my PhD and was working over 60 hrs a week as a PostDoc. It was clear to me that day that she and I have different views on what it means t…

I bet this isn't a joke. There are men out there who are just that depraved and just that entitled.

I think it's about the guy being lazy and worthless. Your comment reminds me of my cousin, who is married to a surgeon. Both times I have visited them I was impressed with how he called at least once during the day, and every evening he came home and interacted with her and me. He even took us out to dinner each time and made the arrangements and picked us up after work and drove us. This is after 20 years of marriage and 3 kids.

Yes, that is my experience as well. My own brother is a partner in a finance firm. He travels internationally a lot. He is married with 2 children. He definitely makes quality time for his wife. Granted they have a cleaning and laundry service so neither do that, but they go out at least once a week to socialize with friends and he takes her on vacation (sometimes just the two of them) and from what I have seen, she never serves him. So yes, it appears to be more of a lower-class situation.

The man who posted this didn't even have a job, he just wanted a woman to work AND take care of him/be his servant.

I agree. The man who posted it was on unemployment and not working at all. Yet he still expects a woman to be his maid.

I confess I made this mistake. I had a man propose 10 years ago. After "only" 5 years of being engaged and him not remotely interested in planning the wedding, I concluded he did not actually want to get married. The fact it took me so long is embarassing. Never again.

It's not just manipulation, it's emotional abuse. The same guy tried to tell me that I am too sensitive, I don't know how to take a joke (when he put me down, because he was just joking), and that there is nothing wrong that he likes/loves and comments on dozens of single women's selfies on social media on the daily, because it doesn't mean anything and he can't handle someone being so jealous.

They are out there ladies. I had a similar experience once after telling a man I did not like his first date idea and preferred another location. I got 2 pages of texts from him about how messed up I am and how he is a catch and how I am messing up this great opportunity...oh and I'm crazy and a psycopath. All because I said "no" to going to some secluded lake where he hides a canoe and no one knows about.

We are vilified because we have found fulfillment that does not require a man.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
