I don't disagree with any of your analysis at all but I am sad (though not at all shocked) that we have found another way to package and sell women to men.

I have to say that sex work is still work and sex workers are still worthy of respect. There are a lot of reasons people turn to sex work- it's incredibly exploitative but even some with privilege find it less degrading than other forms of labor. That said - sex work consistently prays on the most vulnerable people in society. OF may be a lucrative revenue stream for celebrities but for most the experience ends up having a heftier cost than the profit made. The sex industry will always be exploi…

You seem really level headed - it will suck but after some time it will start to suck a little less. I promise what you are losing on the wedding will be less than you would pay for a lawyer to end the marriage. Just know he is going to try very hard to hold on to you and you need to be solid and consistent in your decision. He may very well do everything in his power to keep you- he will try to slip that mask back on but it will come off again at some point. It seems that you know in your heart…

Really glad to hear you’re in therapy and that you have found this community. Also reccomend you read “Why Men Love Bitches”, title is more dramatic than the book which just encourages you to have a life and not be fooled by mens bs. Sounds like this guy has no interest or hobbies outside of getting attention from women by any means necessary. Seems like he derives his entire self worth through his ability to manipulate and step over boundaries (hence why he is going after younger women and gets…

I do not necessarily think you're being over sensitive just maybe a little over invested since you haven't met him yet. Don't let anyone you haven't known long live rent free in your mind!

So much of the book is just unlearning the mythology and cultural misogyny that our lives should revolve around men. Not only does your life improve when you unlearn this (because you can take that class you've wanted to take) but men are much more interested.

Just never fully be in his grasp - you do not have to act like you're not fully in his grasp if you're not fully in his grasp and have your own life. If from the beginning you build in your boundaries - like you are not going to cancel plans for him, build in time for your hobbies, interests, alone time ect and if he is ever rude or dismissive of you or your feelings you excuse yourself and leave (you do not need to explain this to him just leave) - you are setting the relationship up for succes…

FDS was much more honest about this when I joined a year ago. I think specific strategies I found on here were more helpful too- even simple things like dressing more feminine on early dates (skirts and dresses) highlights the difference in your gender and helps enforce the message (that you need to be sending out) that you need to be treated like a lady and not a friend he can use for sex.

realizing how much men love the chase is powerful, especially because I realized I really like to be chased- I’ve now been with my guy for over a year and he always makes a huge effort for me, plans nice dates and vacations, gives nice gifts and is super sweet and affectionate and it always feels fresh! Now we have the added benefit of knowing one another well, great memories and lots of good jokes! I used to get so bored and broke off pretty much everything I was in within 4 months flat but he …

FDS is against industries that treat women poorly- sex work does this largely as there are no protections for these women. It is not at all out of judgement and taking one persons comment completely out of context to describe this very large and diverse sub is silly. Also this is a subreddit dedicated to dating that focuses on maximum female value so when a post does not focus on that yes it’s going to be discussed!! Lol

I worked in male dominated field on an all male team of guys in their 20s, all professional, college grads, decently well-groomed, and they talked about women all the time. Not necessarily in a disparaging way (at least while I was there) but who they were dating, who they had dated, and there were 2 things that mattered 1) hotness 2) respectability. The first was obvious the second would have comments like “she was such a ho in college” or (positive) “her father is ultra-wealthy”. One coworker …

men like to chase, when you become convenient for him he will look for the thrill of the chase elsewhere; that’s not to say you shouldn’t support your spouse when they are going through a difficult time, it is just to say you need to be proactive about retaining your own personhood and looking out for your own needs and interests

I’ll just say hold off on giving him something until you see what he gives you and be sure its smaller or less significant. If not he will feel that you are going faster/ taking it more seriously than you and lose the desire to chase you. Id say leave it in your car or have a picture of it and if he gives you something that warrants a return you can say you forgot it and run to your car or show him a pic.

My mom used to always get me a little chocolate or something on Valentines Day growing up (always thought the day was about love not necessarily romantic love because of this and never got down on myself for being single on this day as a result). She continued to send me a card in College and had one sent to my office today and I thought it was the sweetest thing! I am so lucky to have her and will do the same if I am ever lucky enough to have a daughter!

This is so horrible why is pay contingent on the release? Why have we been told for years that everything in porn is agreed to and talked about far in advanced? Why is rape effectively legal if there is a camera in frame? Yes she agreed to do a scene but she did not consent to all of that and the fact that she would not get paid if she had said that was not okay is horrible- these women are usually bringing their own wardrobe to the set, paying for mileage, health costs, often doing their own ha…

Flirt is probably too strong a term, I think men will look for any sign that you want them and simple things that are common courtesy- like making direct eye contact, asking questions, being polite all get misconstrued as flirting, I’m not doing much more than that haha.

Lol let him provide for those meals? If you are at that point I am assuming you may be having regular sex and sex is in no way an even exchange, he should at minimum be providing for the meals you eat together. If you do ever cook together he needs to be pulling for the majority of it- buying the groceries, cleaning up and helping cook all the while thanking you profusely in my opinion. I believe you should never be convenient for a man.

I also like the phone calls before an OLD, in addition to being a good pre-screen, I have always been surprised at what their voices sound like? I got sick of this and bought a fake engagement ring on amazon for like $3 that I kept in my purse. I also try to be as bitchy as possible but men just take it as a challenge. "what's your name?" "I don't have one." "Oh so it's like that, what are you drinking?" Then I would flash the engagement ring and they'd back off. Men have more respect for other men (even when imaginary) than they do women and it's gross!!!!

It's a sad fact of life, but like 90% of what even some HVM value in women is looks, I would say to do better with men thats the area to invest in that yields the most return. On my second date with my now boyfriend he (after asking obviously) booked our flights for a trip that weekend. I make enough to pay for my own flights and expenses, and personally would not have gone on that initial trip if I was unable to pay my way (you never know when a guy is going to turn on you, and I wouldn’t go if I couldn’t comfortably get myself back without breaking the bank.) I personally want a long engagement. I do not want to move in with them until I know they have the intention of being with me forever but also do not want to make a lifetime commitment to living with someone I have never lived with and an engagement seems like the best way to achieve both. Ali Wong said something to the effect of “if I sleep with you on the first date it’s not because I don’t respect myself, it’s because I don’t respect you”. If it made you feel bad, you do not have to do it in the future, but in my opinion holding out sex is strategic if you’re considering a guy for a LTR. Youre all good, just know hes no longer in the running for anything serious!

Maybe not always to this degree but I suspect many of us have had similar experiences. It takes a little time to learn to say no and establish your boundaries and a little failure in doing so is fine so long as you recognize it as a mistake and resolve to do better the next time. It takes a ton to overcome years of socialization! Good for OP for owning up ❤️

Romances at that age, even if okay at the time, is mostly time better spent with friends. I went on a road trip with a college bf and it’s hard to cherish the memory since we split. I often think about all the nights I stayed in watching TV and cuddling that would have been better spent out with friends. I don’t really regret sleeping around a little I just regret over-thinking it and fretting about whether the dude would text me back. (So long as you dont do it enough to get a reputation which …

There are pick-me tendencies, or not having the full mindset (I feel like this was a lot of us at some point) and then there’s the women who are so over-fixated they will ruin your health. It weeds out LVM and you have to approach it the right way. There is a good thread on how not to pay but if a guy is not offering to get your meal he’a a loser and not worth your breath. Women feel they must lower their standards because they have been conditioned to do so. I don’t want to go to Chilis on a first date- hmm maybe I will because I don’t want him to think I’m high-maintenance. There's no such thing as an unattractive woman, only a lazy one. Figure out the tings that make you look better that you actually do not mind doing- I love how soft my face feels after I go over it with a razor, I love how my sheets feel against my legs when I am done shaving them, I love pretending I'm in a movie when I'm applying lip gloss.
