I lost my virginity in my mid-twenties, though I had kissed beforehand. I didn’t tell my first kiss that I hadn’t kissed anyone before, and it was never brought up, so you don’t need to bring that or being a virgin up before kissing happens. If you like someone a lot before you kiss, and want to convey that you’re not waiting out of disinterest, just say that you take things really slowly physically, and wait until you’re in a committed relationship and have an STD panel before having sex. After…

I don’t recommend going if this is how you’re feeling. If he’s been respectful and you don’t want to ghost, you can message something like “I enjoyed talking with you earlier, but after thinking about it more this week, I don’t think we’d be compatible. Best of luck on your search!” Dates get canceled all the time with new people, so this likely won’t be his first time or his last with a canceled date. It’s normal.

YES! And they’re the only men I date. Most men won’t wait, but you don’t want to date most men. I’ve definitely felt disappointed when a man I really like says he can’t commit before knowing that we’re “sexually compatible,” but ultimately this just means that he doesn’t like me enough. Oh well, next. The men who have liked me enough have waited, never pressured, gotten tested, and continued moving our committed and labeled relationship forward until I was the one who felt like I couldn’t wait t…

Great post! Can anyone tell me how often you encounter polyamorous or “ENM” people? I’m in my 30s, live in a large and very liberal city, meet a lot of people in my day-to-day, and have never met an out polyam person on OLD or anywhere else in life. Yet it seems to be a really common issue for others. Is this more common for the younger generation or within different circles? Feeling old and out of the loop. 😂 Thanks.

The only time I’ve had can’t-stop-thinking-about-him butterflies, the guy was love bombing. I’ve had quite a few great, healthy, long term relationships that did not start with those same butterflies…but there was still definitely attraction. I still wanted to see them, wanted them to touch me, smiled inside when they texted something funny, etc. But I felt more in control, and wasn’t concentrated on them all hours of the day. I personally don’t need the butterflies, but I agree with the other c…

At my work, a sign that an entry level employee is ready to advance is when they’re able to correctly anticipate the needs of their manager and clients. Only date men who treat you at least as well as their manager.

I FEEL this today. Yes! LVM like him are abundant. It’s not surprising that he assumed that a romantic relationship was your end goal and that the better treatment needed to come from that romance. You are complete without a boyfriend, and I’m sure you ALREADY have friends who treat you better than he ever did.

It’s one reason why I disagree with the saying “communication is always key” 🤢. No, there are some basic things that reveal an incompatibility if women have to tell grown men to do them. That’s so unprofessional. I’d be tempted to write a bad review on Google or Yelp about his behavior calling him out (by first name only and store location). If this is what he was like with you and your mom, imagine how he treats the other women he works with. The man sucks both at his job and as a person, and your review could provide evidence to back up his female coworkers if they’ve experienced something similar.

Does your degree program have clubs? I’m an advocate for joining clubs and other communities first so that you don’t actually have to do the asking or planning to hang out. It’s much easier to bond with people if you see them naturally multiple times a month for something fun, and I think it’ll give you confidence to be a part of a team. Plus, there’s usually one extrovert in the club who ends up coordinating a group thing or two and inviting everyone. If the degree program doesn’t have clubs, y…

This article and study seem more like gross-out click-bait or a way for the mattress company who ran the study to sell more linens. There are more reliable studies, theories, and strategies to focus on in FDS.

This woman speaks truths…but why is it the woman who is expected to change her behavior and use the “man’s way of communicating” rather than the man listening to the woman, and actually changing his behavior not because he’s worried about divorce but because he loves his wife and wants her to be happy?

This was one of the biggest eye-openers for me after following FDS. I even started recognizing this trait in seemingly otherwise great guys in my community. So many men will continue a relationship for as long as it’s convenient for them despite knowing there’s no future. It’s one reason why I won’t go 50-50 anymore. That makes it too easy to date me. I’m awesome. Of course men want to be with me when it’s that easy. I’ve had well-meaning people tell me I should “live in the moment,” but I don’t…

The way I cope is to remember that whom I miss isn’t the actual person, but the person I thought he was. I don’t miss anyone who would ignore me or overstep my boundaries - I miss the person I had a connection with who I was confident would never wrong me. That person never existed, so there’s no one to miss. I’m glad you blocked him.

One women in the article states she joined OnlyFans in order to spend more time with her kids. She joined after her 19 yr old daughter became a creator on it. They now pose together. Can you imagine if your mother encouraged you to do porn…and then joined you and became more successful at it, while your nude body is still online for the world to see forever? That 19 yr old needs a good therapist and better role models.

Great advice! Yes, I decided to go with a female therapist. I had to push back a little on the counseling group and reschedule a few things in order to get a woman. It's been more work than anticipated to find one, and I haven't even met her yet, but I hope it's worth it. The women's only gym sounds like a dream. What the hell? Dating multiple people can help weed through people faster for the first couple of weeks. I’ve had so many men swear that they would wait as long as I needed for sex, only to lose interest after 4-5 dates without sex. Obviously, that’s not my only vetting strategy, but if I dated sequentially, that alone would make finding the right person take forever. Dating multiple people also helps keep the abundance mindset, which helps with vetting. There are also tricks to avoid having a favorite, like n…

He wants to continue perceiving himself as a good person while still acting in his own best interests. Men like him are the other side of the same coin as men who consider themselves “brutally honest.” They’ll say something unnecessarily hurtful in the name of honesty, but as soon as it becomes in their best interest to lie, they will. It’s possible to be kind and honest at the same time. This guy sucks and it’s great you see through him.

God I’m happy I didn’t date in high school. How he treated you is awful. It’s heartbreaking how easy it is for 16yr old girls to fall into relationships like this. Teen years are often the start of figuring out your identity and where you fit into the world, which makes it easy to want to please and impress others, even if they don’t deserve it. It sounds like you really wanted to assume the best in people and help them at that age instead of seeing their words and actions for what they really a…

That sucks. I think one thing to remember is that most people try to make their lives seem better than they actually are on social media. Even if they look happy and close in the photo, they might be nearly strangers or having friction behind closed doors. He probably just wants to feel like he’s “winning” the break-up. It’s immature. Best to unfollow him and work on leveling up!

I’m in the same boat. It can be hard to make lasting friendships. I think the best way is to join communities full of women who are also leveling up or giving back. You may have to sort through some LV people, but it’ll be a lot easier to meet, vet, and bond with women if you see them naturally multiple times a month. Some ideas: sports league, improv class, “Women in X Industry” society, gym class, book club, volunteering group, work, dancing class, a meet-up group, school….

I have a hobby where van life is almost romanticized by many in the community - mostly by men. It takes a very particular type of person to enjoy. I don’t know a single woman who does it alone. On top of the lack of space and cleanliness, living in a van is not very safe. Normally, I’d advise him to just find another woman already into van life, but the few women who are into it live with their boyfriends.

If passed, the bill would allow “any man believing he got a woman pregnant to obtain a court injunction blocking her from getting an abortion.” The article continues to state explicitly that DNA evidence wouldn’t be needed to prove paternity.
