Yeah, I get that. It could be a matter of missing being in a relationship (as opposed to the actual person). Depending on how long the marriage lasted, it might just be phantom pain, like feeling a limb even after amputation. If anima projection is something to use as a way to move on, I guess there’s no harm, but I don’t yet really trust my own instincts, 7 months out.

7 months down since my ex filed. Month 1: numb. Month 2: numb and angry. Month 3: numb, angry and seriously depressed. Month 4: N, A, SD and vengeful. Month 5: Got tired of N, A, SD and V, so started gym, seeing old friends, counselling, eating well and reading up on my counsellor’s suggestions. Month 6: Stopped feeling numb, angry, depressed and vengeful and can now see my route to living my life the way that will make me happy. Basically, you need to let blood flow to cleanse the wounds. I think sometimes that going through a divorce might resemble losing a limb. People who've had amputations talk about phantom limb sensation, where their mind tricks them to think the limb is still there. I still have moments where I come face-to-face with the "hole" where my marriage used to be, and each time it's a killer. It's like the floor drops away from beneath me. Rationally, I know my ex is no longer part of my life, but boy, that moment of realisation is so difficult.

New redditor here, diving straight in: Communicate. No matter how dicey the issue is, you have to discuss it/flag it. If it’s negotiable, lucky you. If it’s not, be prepared to shake hands and part. Don’t leave before you’ve opened the door, i.e. finish a divorce before you start that new chapter. You may think you’re ready but the world will still see the blood-stained bandages. Be clear in your head what you want in a new relationship but more importantly, what you can bring to it too.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
