Honestly, I just don’t know what I believe. Is she selfish for leaving me? Did I deserve to be left? Am I unworthy or incapable of being in a log term healthy relationship? I feel so foundationally flawed, I’m constantly having passive suicidal thoughts. I often feel like my wife knew this about me, and decided to make the smart move to save herself by ridding me from her life.

I understand what you’re saying. For clarity, I didn’t rely on her for my purpose, at least originally. I got sick, and then relied on her for support.

This makes me really sad, because I was suffering from major depression when my wife separated, and when I told her I felt suicidal, she soon divorced me. Suicide wasn’t a “card” I was using, it was an honest feeling (still is) that I may harm myself because of deep my despair was and how I felt it was being exacerbated my the thought my wife would leave me during a time where I already felt life was meaningless. I didn’t tell my wife in order ti hold her hostage, I told her because I felt like …

Just experienced my first ketamine treatment today. Was a good experience and definitely hopeful for long term effects.

You’re response is both inspiring and insightful. I appreciate you sharing your story with me. You sound so strong. Getting lost in the ruminations is likely my greatest challenge. I reminisce, feel sad, feel bad for myself, and then experience despair and paralysis. The cycle occupies every stale moment of the day, and rears it’s head every 3-5 minutes when I’m most preset in deep conversation. Unfortunately, I believe the ADHD really exacerbates the rumination and spiraling. What have you foun…

Hate that you’re apart from your kids, but your ex does not sound like someone with the understanding necessary to be a supportive loving spouse. Sound alike it’s good you don’t have her in your life anymore.

I really appreciate your thoughtful response. I’m also really sorry for what you’re going through. I know what it feels like when a partner continues to live goalposts. I felt this way the past year when I made numerous significant lifestyle changes she asked for, yet was treated as though these changes were merely the bare minimum required for her to entertain the possibility of reconciliation. One place I find myself hung up on is the legitimacy of the concept of unconditional love. Naive or n…

I’m really sorry for how you were treated. My circumstance is not as black and white, my wife did support me in some ways for a few years, although we just figured it was my ADHD. Unfortunately, by the time I was diagnosed with depression, she left me. In fact, she left me three months after my diagnosis while I was in inpatient treatment for depression. So I struggle to blame her, while also feeling like she abandoned me when I was doing the work to get better. From there, she lead me on a ten …
