The most textbook perfect date I've ever been on was from a cold approach. I was doing some temp reception work and someone who worked upstairs cold approached me. He came down to collect a parcel, went to walk back upstairs, then hesitated, turned around and came back and asked if he could give me his number. The only reason I said yes was because his hands were shaking he was so nervous. I already knew I wasn't into him from 1 glance but I wasn't seeing anybody else so I thought why not keep a…

Before FDS how often did you walk into a room and find yourself willing to date every man in there? Because I certainly never did. Meeting a guy I actually feel some sort of connection with has always been a pretty rare event for me. Like maybe once every 2 years I'll meet someone and the stars align and there's an instant, mutual attraction. So nothing has changed in that regard except the reasons I might have for not wanting to date 99% of the men I meet. Before, I might not have noticed FDS r…

You mean how LVM feel about their partners centering them. Prioritising your partner above other people is the natural progression of a relationship, at least until you have kids anyway. This is why reciprocation of energy and ditching a man who fails to progress the relationship within a certain timeframe is so important. If he's not pushing for it, he doesn't want it. Best believe you'll be back of the queue behind his friends, his mother, his video games, his sports, his porn, his dog, and th…

I agree that this is in VERY poor taste. Waiting a certain amount of dates before being alone with a guy doesn't prevent rapes. It's not like if she'd waited 4 or 8 or 12 dates to be alone with him, he would have gone "wow, because she kept me at arms length for that many dates I now respect her too much to rape her." The FDS handbook gives you the tools to recognise your worth, level up, raise your standards, recognise when a situation is not benefitting you and a community to support you when …

I'd probably quite like it. But then my perpective is that any member of the general public at liberty to knock on my front door, and as such I don't consider it a boundary being crossed. The boundary is literally the boundary -- aka whether I let you in or not 🤣

Maybe I'm a small town weirdo but I don't personally consider the act of knocking on someone's door to see if they're in/available for a catch up to be in any way rude or offensive, unless it's done as part of a pattern of harassment.

The OP didn't use something that was also being used by Nazis. White supremacists apparently use triple parentheses to signpost a Jewish person or business by putting them around a name. That's not what the OP did because her parentheses are not around a name. It's like someone telling a kid off for drawing a star on a friend's notebook because the Nazis used stars of David to signpost Jewish people...two things, NOT the same at all. Going along with it and apologising when people choose to take…

I've just looked this up because I've never heard of it and it seems like the consensus definition is that it's a thing where white nationalists place triple parentheses around a person or an organisation's name to indicate to other white nationalists that the person is jewish or the organisation jewish owned or majority jewish. I really don't see how that is in any way relevant to what this user has written. Clearly they're not attempting to call out any Jewish people or Jewish businesses becau…

Perhaps instead of offering "support sessions", they should offer financial assistance. These student sex workers who are being offered "support" are paying to attend this university. It's shameful that students are prostituting themselves in order to make higher education a financially tenable option. Instead of universities offering students advice on how to prostitute themselves safely because they can't earn enough money from a normal job while keeping university commitments, perhaps they sh…

This woman's logic follows the same trajectory as the JFK bullet. My favourite part is where she suggests that the OP should have made sure that the strange woman in his home had easy access to one of his personal possessions that would be suitable for clubbing him over the head with, in case she found his presence in his own living room too threatening. Because, you know, going home with a strange man you met online is fine but engaging in conversation with his parent in THEIR sitting room the …

Her boyfriend isn't the issue. The issue is that she's rude and has no manners. It's normal to "prioritise" your life partner over your friends. None of that involves being consistently late meeting people, ignoring the person you're meeting in favour of texting on your phone someone else, or messing them about by repeatedly cancelling plans at the last second.

Advocating for practices because they're a "more efficient" way to commodify women's bodies IS PROMOTING CAPITALISM. She literally suggests taking control of the work out of the prostitutes hands is the ideal way for sex businesses to operate. And BTW this woman was a former stripper.

Because she almost exclusively interviewed female pimps aka former prostitites who have probably started up brothels and act as business managers. Imagine making generalisations like "pimps are good and abuse by them is rare" when you haven't bothered to talk to any pimps, seeing as the definiton of pimp is A MAN who controls prostitutes and takes a cut of their earnings.

I mean if being underweight to the point that your body stops functioning properly sounds like a good time to you then I don't really know what to say.

The reason men are statistically stronger than women is because women naturally carry more bodyfat (to support reproductive function) and therefore have a lower total % of muscle. A slim reasonably fit woman has roughly the same bodyfat % as an overweight male. A woman with the bodyfat % of a fit male (10-15%) would be infertile and have no periods. Biology plays a huge part in it.

I'm so confused by American laundry. Folding? Is this literally folding your washing to put it away? Is this considered to be a specific chore?

Piers Morgan is an idiot but I'm so sick of hearing about Harry and Megan either whining to or about the press every 15 seconds. It's embarassing. I'm not interested in the super rich, famous and privileged publically bemoaning how difficult their lives are. If they want to go their own way they're free to, stop popping back up to remind everyone you're going your own way. Both of them are dreadfully self-interested whingers and would be much improved in the eyes of the world if they learned to …

So the original recommendation was made here in the UK all the way back in 2003 after a review of the evidence by the Advisory Committee on Cervical Screening. They reviewed the decision again in 2009 and unanimously voted to keep the age at 25. The International Agency for Research on Cancer says the same thing. The Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care too, and screening does not begin until 25 in Alberta or British Colombia although other provinces don't seem to have followed suit and…

It's not insane. The reason many countries don't routinely do pap smears until 25 is well justified -- the evidence shows that the cell abnornalities in women below this age are quite common but usually resolve themselves. Cancer in women below this age is rare. Routine pap smears before this age just lead to increased rates of invasive procedures being performed and increased rates of fear and worry but do not reduce cancer rates in the under 25s. It sits badly with me that there are countries …

To be honest I find it dangerous to tell women the opposite. Actually it's the reason I've unsubbed from other boards like 2XC. Contant fearmongering with the purpose of reinforcing the idea that it's not OK for women to say no to men. At this point I'm convinced the fearmongering is another tool of the patriarchy. No one is saying that men can't be extremely dangerous but the chance of a man reacting to a rejection with physical violence is low. I'm personally willing to bet that there are sign…

The OP didn't mention anything about her husband's hobbies. She gave no indication that he played any instrument at all. It was a bunch of morons in the comments who for some reason were coming up with theories to justify the OPs husband. hE CoUlD bE A gUiTaRiST is just another example of the verbal smoke and mirrors employed by 3rd rate circus clowns to attempt to obscure bullshit. There was a post on a relationships sub literally yesterday. A woman, who had been married for 15 years, who began her post by stating that her husband had issues surrounding sex because at the start of their relationship she had faked orgasms. Yes that's right, he was still milking an event from FIFTEEN PLUS years ago. A week prior to the events that caused the OP to write the post, OP's husband had cut her inside her vagina while fingering her. This, apparently, is a frequent occurence, so the…

I don't really get this attitude. You are a woman, you don't have to learn how to put a tampon in or how to put makeup on to be a woman. You don't have to learn how to "woman". You've been "womaning" since the second you first drew breath. I mean, to be honest, this smacks of internalised misogyny and an inability to take responsibility for yourself. Why are you blaming your mother for not teaching you to cook and clean but your father is Mr Wonderful for teaching you some unspecified life skill…

I've dated more than 1 guy with 24/7 visible abs and no hormonal or other related health issues. Men can definitely maintain a low enough bodyfat percentage to show their abs without becoming unwell. These guys were that type of person that's always been very lean/tending towards scrawny but also happened to be active and so had a healthy amount of muscle development rather than just being weak and pigeon chested. They didn't eat great (McDonalds, takeout etc) and they weren't gym nuts, one of t…

We also had Dennis the Menace! Still popular but originally from those old Beano and Dandy comics that my parents liked as children. Horrid Henry is a more recent show I think?

Another thing: If I were a predator, I wouldn't target people who seemed friendly and happy on first impressions. Happy people probably have their lives together and strong support systems. I'd be going for the person that looked like they had a bone to pick with the world, who was clearly crying out for help with their actions and behaviour, the person who is blatantly advertising their past trauma and the fact that nobody around them is willing/capable of helping them. To a predator, those peo…

Actually I agree with her. It's not particularly shocking that people who are smiley and friendly are more likely to attract both platonic and romantic attention than someone who looks angry, abrasive or moody. Aggression is literally designed to ward people off. Cursing in public also gives people a poor impression of you, I have to be honest and say that if I heard someone effing and blinding loudly in public I would form the impression that they had bad manners and were pretty classless. If y…

I don't know where you got these ideas from but as a child of a single (female, of course) parent, one parent can certainly give enough love and enough wisdom, and enough of everything else too. I'm going to assume you're coming from a good place or perhaps a place of "this is what I've been taught all my life" but your comment comes across very badly all the same.

I never got that from the book! The whole thing I thought was that he was super proud/superior but he had more layers that Elizabeth's prejudice from his initial insult of her wouldn't allow her to see. It's weird what different people can take from things.

Mrs (and Miss) is short for mistress, same as Mr is short for master. You still see this on medical records sometimes when male children are listed as "master name name", and in TV period dramas (Cap'n Poldark sent me for to fetch ee. Mistress Poldark's took bad n they d'need you!) And you see similar abbreviations in older books sometimes when French people are being spoken about: Mme (madame), Mlle (mademoiselle), M. (monsieur).

You're mistakenly associating lying about your assets in a divorce court with having a savings account that your husband is unaware of during your marriage. The point of a "secret fund" is not to hide assets from a judge while going through a divorce. It's so that if you decide to physically and metaphorically leave him (& you will still be legally married at this point), you have money he can't interfere with on hand to do so: you can buy a train ticket to get to your parent's, or hire a van to…

This has been posted a bunch of places and this debate always happens. I believe someone checked census records to settle it. It's an address. Writing conventions have changed since victorian times, and printing addresses in newspapers used to be very common (actually it was common until fairly recently). Whereas it's never been polite to reveal a woman's age.

Do you believe that the way you are is, truly, the way you are or is it actually rooted in insecurity? Are you actually just afraid to express yourself? Do you actually just not want to open yourself up to criticism? Are you a people pleaser? Are you just scared? I'm not trying to suggest this IS how you are, I'm just posing the question. As others have said, some men are attracted to so-called blank canvases (which presumably you are not, inside). This might be because they're silly and self-ce…

More and more I find myself having to come back to this sub to get back in touch with reality after scrolling through the rest of Reddit. Have just been reading the world news thread about a right wing terrorist in Germany shooting up hookah bars. He's a smoker, he drives dangerously, his sense of humour is immature, I've noticed a couple of times that his breath has not been the freshest or he's had some body odour, he wants to be in charge which I don't hate in a man but sometimes rubs me the wrong way, a couple of times in bed he's just assumed I've finished when I haven't, he's never tried to give me oral sex, and once he took a video of his face and then flashed to me behind him getting changed and it took a good hour of me telling h…

I recently had a health scare and impulsively jumped into an undefined sexual relationship with a guy I had been getting interest signals from. So I'm just here for some tough FDS love and a reality check for how to conduct myself moving on. The guy has a history of short/abortive relationships and because he was already in my social circle I was aware that he wasn't actively looking for a relationship. However, he has been putting in a high level of effort with me, shown me a high level of resp…
